That's fair. In that case, Demiarchos moves to O-P 20-21 and burps fire all over the three zombies. Breath weapon damage: 10d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 3, 6, 4, 6, 3, 2, 1) = 30 fire, Reflex 21 for half damage].
Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
Hey, I'd forgotten about him - thanks for reminding me!
Demiarchos steps over the remains of the chopped-up zombie and sets the other ablaze.
Reflex saves
HZ2 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
HZ3 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
HZ4 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Alwyn is delaying until I remember the forgefiend, so it's Enga.
Enga the Ratcatcher |
“Raaarggh!!”
Enga stabs at the zombies in front of her with her spear in a two handed grip.
Full two handed power attack with inspire courage. If HZ3 falls she moves on to HZ2.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (1) + 22 = 23 Damage: 1d4 + 26 ⇒ (3) + 26 = 29
Attack 2: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36 Damage: 1d4 + 26 ⇒ (2) + 26 = 28

I completely missed most of a page of posts, sorry.
Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30
Illes Elandru |
I started the 1 round wand casting of Enlarge Person last turn, but because I also took a move action (Inspire Courage) it will require my standard action this turn to complete it.
Hudak becomes large.
Illes Maintains Inspire Courage +4/+4
Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
A zombie shuffles up and tires to pat Demiarchos.
HZ4 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 32 to hit, damage 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Much to Alwyn's delight, the forgefiend emerges from a narrow corridor. It immediately tries to turn Enga to stone.
Do I have it in for Mothy's characters? Maybe.... Fort save DC 18.

Sefayll will make arrangements to attack the Headless Lord at range.
"My friend, I think we need to attack the problem at its head. Ironically, I suspect that to be the headless fellow in the back."
She readies her crossbow for a shot, wanting to see if the Shoanti's over-sized brawn is enough to handle the challenge before expending a spell that might be needed later.
I just realized that the stone giant's spellbook included "Command Undead" which doesn't show up as a spell in d20pfsrd, but as a feat. Is it misnamed, perhaps, and I'm not recognizing the spell they intended?
Sefayll Valerian |
There is also a 2nd level spell called Command Undead.
That's what I get for blindly trusting Google searches. It's still not showing up for me. It's in the PRD, however.

The Headless Lord lumber up. A wave of magically-induced fear washes over the front-line fighters.
Demiarchos, Enga and Hudak must all make DC 17 Will saves or be affected by Fear.
Demiarchos, Hudak and Alwyn next.
Elisile Starbrow |
Demiarchos lunges over the top of Enga to bite zombie HZ4.
Bite attack: 1d20 + 20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 20 + 4 = 43 Damage: 2d6 + 12 + 4 ⇒ (3, 4) + 12 + 4 = 23 additional fire damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
Enga the Ratcatcher |
Hudak and Alwyn will delay while Enga deals with HZ2.
Enga full power attacks HZ2.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (5) + 22 = 27 Damage: 1d4 + 26 ⇒ (1) + 26 = 27
Attack 2: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27 Damage: 1d4 + 26 ⇒ (4) + 26 = 30
Attack 3: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16 Damage: 1d4 + 26 ⇒ (4) + 26 = 30
She then 5 foot steps to R22.
Elisile Starbrow |
Hudak then squeezes past the big dog to get to Q/R 20/21 and introduces the Headless Lord to Nualia's Tongue.
power attack: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (2) + 23 = 25 damage: 1d10 + 32 ⇒ (7) + 32 = 39
Elisile Starbrow |
It sounds like Vatters had a plan to deal with the forge fiend; I'm not sure what that was, but I suspect he planned to cast dismissal on it. I think we determined it was an outsider of some type?
Unfortunately Dismissal has a short range and Alwyn is wearing heavy armour, he won't be able to get within range and cast this round. If he moves up into a position where he can cast next round he will cop AoO from the headless lord. What do you guys think he should do?
Elisile Starbrow |
Alright. Hopefully he hasn’t used Searing Light? If not, he’ll 5 foot step to N21 and cast searing light on the headless lord. He’s casting past Demiarchos and Hudak, and into melee, so takes a -8 penalty on the ranged touch attack, partially offset by the +4 from inspire courage. Hopefully a headless giant zombie won’t have a high touch AC.
Ranged touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Damage: 10d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 2, 6, 4, 2, 3, 3, 2, 6) = 33 No save but spell resistance applies.
Illes Elandru |
Illes edges up behind the giant Hudak to get a better view at the remaining zombies. As he moves in he starts infusing a song with magic to speed all of the combatants up.
Limited options due to zombies and line of sight.
Move to L20. Maybe overkill at this point, but...
Haste on all but Camlo and Sefyall
Maintain Inspire Courage +4/+4

Enga fells a zombie and steps into the room. Hudak wades forward, and Nualia's Tongue scolds the headless zombie to gruesome effect. Alwyn's spell then sends sloughed cooked chunks of it falling to the floor.
But the scanderig sends a wall of translucent flame erupting from the cold stone.
The scandering casts Wall of Fire. The hot side is the north side, so anyone to the north of it and within 10' takes 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7 fire damage.
Camlo, then Sef.
Sefayll Valerian |
"Oh, bother. Where did he find a headless zombie that summons undead minions and casts flaming wall spells?"
Continue to delay.
Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
The headless zombie attacks Hudak with surprising dexterity, an evil-looking hatchet in each hand.
The Headless Lord attacks Hudak
Attack 1 1d20 + 20 - 3 ⇒ (12) + 20 - 3 = 29 to hit, damage 1d8 + 14 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 6 = 23 plus 1d6 ⇒ 4 negative energy
Attack 2 1d20 + 15 - 3 ⇒ (6) + 15 - 3 = 18 to hit, damage 1d8 + 14 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 6 = 21 plus 1d6 ⇒ 5 negative energy
Attack 3 1d20 + 20 - 3 ⇒ (19) + 20 - 3 = 36 to hit, damage 1d8 + 14 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 6 = 22 plus 1d6 ⇒ 1 negative energy
EDIT: Critical threat on Attack 3
Attack 3 1d20 + 20 - 3 ⇒ (14) + 20 - 3 = 31 to confirm, extra damage 2d8 + 28 + 12 ⇒ (6, 3) + 28 + 12 = 49
Demiarchos.
Sefayll Valerian |
Big D could move through Hudak and down to get into range of the Headless Lord, but will provoke an attack of opportunity. Does Alwyn have spells he can swap for healing?
Elisile Starbrow |
The dog is immune to fire, so it can walk through the wall (or continue to stand north of it and munch on zombie lord) without harm, but probably best to avoid AoOs from a big hitter like Headless. He can delay until after Hudak, who should be able to get away from Headless (and the wall) by making a retreat action boosted by haste. I'm not 100% sure what Alwyn has already cast, but I suspect he does have some spells left (or could channel).
By the way, is Headless taking damage from the wall of fire? Double damage against undead.
Elisile Starbrow |
Ok, Demiarchos delays. Hudak makes a retreat action back to C-D-20-21 (if this puts him outside the heat zone of the wall of fire). Demiarchos then moves forward into Q-R-20-21 and tries to bite Headless.
Bite attack: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (7) + 25 = 32 Damage: 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (3, 3) + 16 = 22 plus fire damage 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
Demiarchos leaps forwards as Hudak backs away. The hound's jaws close on the zombie lord's middle and he shakes it vigorously. Already wounded by Hudak, the Headless Lord comes apart at the seams, arms and legs scattering across the room. Demiarchos then drops the ravaged torso contemptuously.
Headless Lord down.

Good time for a 20, hopefully that was successful. He has a move action left, I’m open to suggestions whether he should move forward to try to engage the Forge Fiend next round, or to move back to heal Hudak?
