Need a few more initiative rolls.

OK, guess I need to draw a map. I'll do that tonight.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Elisile tries to identify what this thing is – presumably some type of construct – and what its strengths and weaknesses are.

It's a stone golem.

Derp! I should have made the same check.

Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35

OK, so she should know a thing or two about them. I didn't want to metagame just because I saw the answer to Elisile.

"Ack, these things are nigh impervious to magic. And the magic that might work if it uses standard design, I lack. It will shrug off a significant amount of damage unless you have an ultrahard weapon."

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

"Yes, stone golem," agrees Elisile. "None of my magic will impact it either. We just need to hit it as hard as possible ... and try not to be hit by it."

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

"Or outsmart it. If we could lead it off somewhere to it did not impede us, that would work as well as destroying it. Unfortunately, I cannot think of a way to do that."

All I can offer to do is shield myself and use my halberd to threaten and provide a flank for someone. Any missile fire I generate won't get past DR.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

With gravity bow still running and deadly aim I can probably hurt it – just – but it won’t be much. Alwyn, Hudak and Enga should be able to do a reasonable bit of damage in melee even without adamantium weapons, especially if Illes can boost our damage output with inspire courage.

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

We are losing our abilities in a war of attrition. We won't have anything left when we find Mokmurian at this rate...

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Demiarchos' breath weapon is unimpeded by SR and will harm a golem. Hudak and Enga should carve huge chunks out of it too.

Dark Archive

Wintergreen's CE PA IT Geek 10/Daddy 9/Physicist 3/Cartographer 1/Runner 3/Cub Scout Leader 2/Musician 1

Sneak attack should hurt it too, if you can set up the flank...The Bleed damage bypasses damage reduction too, which seems odd against a stone golem, but hey ho...

A golem would be immune to bleed damage.

Map.

As you can see, this is an extension of the previous map. You are coming down the corridor C13-D21, so please place yourselves in those squares.

Camlo.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Awww, you're so, like, sensible ;)

Starting from D19, double move to H26, using the Couldren as cover to hide.

Camlo moves forward drawing rapier as he goes.

Stealth: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (18) + 29 = 47

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Elisile will begin in C19. Enga will begin in D20.

Elisile casts haste on the group. It won’t affect Camlo unless he wants to delay until after she has cast, but should get everyone else depending on placement. IF Camlo does not appear to have suffered any ill effects by entering the room or moving near the caldron, she will then move to G20, stringing a masterwork adamantite arrow to her bow as she moves (I realised I have 10 of these on my character sheet).

Hp max: 107 (143 rage); Damage taken: 97; Rage remaining: 12 rounds

Enga rages and charges to L22, making a two handed power attack with her spear, with the benefit of haste and charge. She will also use her powerful blow rage power.

charge attack: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (3) + 21 = 24 damage: 1d4 + 26 ⇒ (4) + 26 = 30

Not with a longspear, no. That's a piercing weapon. j/k

Using a swift action to reduce arcane spell failure using arcane armor mastery feat.

Sefayll concentrates for a moment and casts shield before moving into the room. (She will end up in D21.)

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Camlo will delay for the haste if possible... That would be useful.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Alwyn starts in C20
Hudak starts in D19
Demiarchos starts in C/D 18-19.

Map updated.

Enga rushes up but her thrust is mistimed. She barely scratches the golem.

Illes.

Illes weaves his way through the others and around the cauldron. "What the what now? Wait now-" Illes cocks his head and eyes the approaching skull faced golem with glowing blue runes, "is this Mokumrian's personal cook?" He snorts, "Damned wizards. Always whipping up some kind of sorcerous butler or laundry lady rather than pay a decent wage."

Alwyn and the Hound of the Gorumites!

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Alwyn uses his Battle Rage ability on Hudak and then moves to I20.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Demiarchos double-moves to F/G 26-27 and primes the flamethrower.

Golem!

The golem does its best to pound Enga to mush.

Hudak.

Map updated.

Hp max: 107 (143 rage); Damage taken: 97; Rage remaining: 12 rounds

Enga staggers under the golem's blows but does not fall.

Male Human (Shoanti) Fighter 11

Hudak moves to J21 before attacking the golem using his Lunge feat. Attack roll 12+22+5(bard)-3(Power Attack)=AC 36, damage 1d10+19=9(PA)+5(bard)+5(Alwyn's Battle Rage blessing)=46. Hudak is a goddamned monster.

At full extension, Hudak hacks a big chunk from the golem's side. As he does so, a metallic arm reaches out of the wall by Elisile as if the solid stone was no more substantial than water.

Attack on Elisile v her Touch AC, 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31 to hit. If that succeeds, Elisile needs to make a DC 18 Fort save or be turned to stone.

Camlo.

For the DM:

Spoiler:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Return of the Forge-Fiend: 25
Camlo: 22
Elisile: 19 +

Alwyn: 14
Demiarchos: 13

Hudak: 9

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Move to L25, attack.

Camlo moves forward and attcks the giant statue from behind.

Atk: 1d20 + 18 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 18 + 5 + 1 = 42
Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 5 = 7
Sneak Attack: 6d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 3, 3, 1) = 13

Atk crit?: 1d20 + 18 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 18 + 5 + 1 = 25

Well that wasn't as effective as I'd like.

Stone chips fly as Camlo's blade hits home.

Strictly, Camlo would have to make a Stealth check again to sneak over and stab the golem in the back without copping an AoO. But I would be surprised if he would fail that.

Elisile.

Yup, Vatters was right, this forge fiend is about the most annoying monster ever ...

Elisile has time to partially turn and open her mouth - perhaps to shout a warning or intone a spell - before the forge-fiend's touch causes her skin to harden and grey. Within seconds she has become a stone statue.

I could have done with Camlo's 20 roll right there.

Hp max: 107 (143 rage); Damage taken: 97; Rage remaining: 12 rounds

Enga keeps trying furiously to chip away at the stone golem with her spear, inspired by Illes’ mocking words.

Attack 1: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (8) + 26 = 34 Damage: 1d4 + 27 ⇒ (1) + 27 = 28
Attack 2: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (2) + 21 = 23 Damage: 1d4 + 27 ⇒ (4) + 27 = 31
Attack 3: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (11) + 16 = 27 Damage: 1d4 + 27 ⇒ (3) + 27 = 30

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Where on the map is the forgefiend?

Elisile Starbrow wrote:

It probably has regeneration too.

Drawing the wand once more, Sefayll levels the magic implement at the scanderig.

Enervation wand: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Negative levels: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Would this stack with the previous casting? If not, I will choose a different course of action.

15 touch to hit with inspire courage.

Thank you for the correction. As I think about it, it may not stack, so maybe I should try a scorching ray instead.

It's currently in the wall and not target-able.

Hp max: 107 (143 rage); Damage taken: 97; Rage remaining: 12 rounds

I forgot Enga's additional attack for haste.

Attack 4: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (17) + 26 = 43, Damage: 1d4 + 27 ⇒ (1) + 27 = 28

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

Did Sefayll's 30 on the knowledge roll to identify the scanderig indicate whether a petrifying touch is a typical ability? There's a fear growing that the metallic arm doesn't belong to that previous critter.

"Beware! There's something lurking in the wall again and its touch can turn you to stone! Stay back from the wall if you can lest it reach out and touch you!"

She will move alongside the cauldron, drawing her crossbow as she does, and loads it, watching for the lurker to re-appear.

I'm not seeing a lot I can do. Next!

Sefayll:

Spoiler:
Yes, Flesh to Stone is a standard scanderig ability, which it will be able to do two more times.

Does Sef have a particular destination square in mind?

In the meantime... Alwyn.

Map updated.

Sorry, that was terribly unclear. She is just making a five-foot step down and right to be adjacent to the cauldron.

"'Ware the scanderig! If it is like most, it can turn two more to stone today."

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

"Hmmm..."

I memorised Stone shape. Can I use that to 'peel open' the wall and expose the forgefiend?
