O7.
Will kick off init in the morning.

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

Once the jig is up, Illes laughs at the two headed giants below, "They left the two of you knuckleheads as a lookout?! Four heads between you and about enough brains to just about work one of them from what it looks like." Illes looks back at his companions, "Ella paidia, double time." He snaps his fingers in quick succession three times and everyone feels flooded with speed and energy.

MA: Inspire Courage w/ Badge of Valor
+4 attack / +4 weapon damage
SA: Cast Haste
+1 attack
+1 AC (dodge)
+1 Reflex (dodge)
+30 move (max of double normal)
+1 attack when full attacking

I hadn't forgot about it, but I had never marked the Headband of Alluring Charisma +4 from the wight's cave on my sheet. Done now.
I'm not sure if anyone actually took the Rod of Cancellation. Who is carrying it so we don't forget it?

Stuck Sefayll on the map.

Bear in mind that Air Walk doesn't work exactly like Fly when it comes to movement. Hudak.

Map updated.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Re. somewhat different moves - can Hudak do a partial charge to N9? And, on my turn, can I do something similar to OP 11-12 or thereabouts?

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

Sorry for my absence. Sefayll would have stayed back a bit, but I think her placement probably works. She might have been another step or two back, as long as she could see the room below for targeting.

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

I am realizing a bit late that this must be a surprise round since the 1 giant is surprised. So I can't do all of what I posted above.
Haste only.
No inspire courage yet.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

I'm not sure about that Illes. One was asleep, but the other fully aware, aubs hasn't said its a surprise round....

Also, please bear in mind that Camlo's damage output only really works if he can flank. I'd kinda asumed you'd have to come down the stairs...

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

The Init listing shows one ettin as surprised.
I figure alwyn and Hudak will be in melee as soon as possible.
I didn't imagine you were waiting on me to flank considering I have probably used a melee weapon maybe one time per year since we started this campaign ;) I will probably start using weapons more often no that our group is smaller but I need mirror image or something before I can be in melee.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Ha! I'm hoping *someone* will flank. Not critical int he first round though, they don't know I'm there yet.....

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

Of course, your first shot could be deadly as long as their ignorance is maintained until that point - but yeah, I wouldn't blow your cover yet.

Sorry for taking ages on this. Air Walk means you can move downwards at a maximum of a 45 degree angle, and at half-speed. So, basically, no, Hudak can't charge to there. Also, you can't charge at half-speed. From where you guys are, it's (roughly) 15' up, so descending to ground level will take 3 squares of movement (equating to 30' of movement). Also, as you descend you might well be within reach for AoOs (they are giants, after all, with 10' reach). However, there is the aspect that you can actually stand in midair and fight them - they are, after all, quite tall (about 10'), albeit they are currently lying down. So, based on that, please let me know what Hudak intends.

Also, yes, this is the surprise round - sorry for any ambiguity.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

OK. Hudak will use his surprise round action to N10 and basically stand on the prone ettin's chest. On my turn, I do the same with Ettin 2, ending up in MN 13-14. As we are hasted, we have more than enough movement for that.

Camlo acts between Hudak and myself. After that it is Ettin 1 (who, crucially, is in AoO range of both me and Hudak).

"Wakey wakey, freaks", Alwyn grins as he floats down onto the sleepy giant's chest and pokes his greatsword into its left face.

OK, we've got Hudak's movement. It's now Camlo's turn, then Alwyn.

Map updated.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Camlo will sit tight, he want's to make the most of his surprise. I.e. I need a full round action to bring all weapons to bear and don't want them to see me until then.

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

Remember: If you are moving more than 5', even hasted, you only get a single attack. I'm all for that attack being as devastating as possible, of course, but unless one of them steps into range for you, the effect may be the same.

One of the ettins looks up stupified as Alwyn perches in the air aobove its bed. But the other roars, grabs its weapons where they lie next to it and swings at Hudak.

I suspect that hit nothing at all.

Assuming Camlo doesn't want to attack yet... Sefayll.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Hudak has pretty bad AC, but not that bad. Four misses.

"Stop flailing around", the bald Shoanti giggles.

Sefayll will use the air walk to 'walk' across the room so her head is just below the ceiling at H9. She delays otherwise.

Illes arrow pierces the ettin's hide where it lies, still trying to work out what is going on. And they say two heads are better than one...

Hudak.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Hudak unloads on his ettin. This'll get ugly.

Attack 1: 11+22+1(haste)+4(bard)+4(prone target)+1(height advantage)-3(power attack)=AC 40, damage 1d10+16+4(bard)+9(power attack, 2H)=36.
Attack 2: 10+27+1(haste)+4(bard)+4(prone target)+1(height advantage)-3(power attack)=AC 36, damage 1d10+16+4(bard)+9(power attack, 2H)=35.
Attack 3 (bonus from haste): 9+22+1(haste)+4(bard)+4(prone target)+1(height advantage)-3(power attack)=AC 38, damage 1d10+16+4(bard)+9(power attack, 2H)=38.

Then it is Hudak's ettin. Or maybe Camlo?

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Seeing Hudak and Alwyn attack, Camlo jumps in too.

5ft Step to P9

Attack Rapier: 1d20 + 15 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 15 + 1 + 4 = 21

DMG: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2Sneak Attack: 5d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 1, 4) + 5 = 19 Bleed Damage
DMG: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3Sneak Attack: 5d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 4, 5) + 5 = 27 Bleed Damage

Unless of course it just went down, then I'll move to P12 quietly. stealth: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (20) + 28 = 48

Nualia's Tongue sweep off one head, then the other, before Hudak runs the ettin's corpse through, pinning it to the ground. Camlo springs from hiding to make a series of tiny puncture marks in its side, just to make sure.

The other ettin gathers its limited wits and roars furiously, grabbing its weapons and swiping at Alwyn.

Flail 1 attack 1 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 12 - 2 = 16 to hit, damage 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17

I'm going with you missed the last line of my post? It was an edit, but well before you posted I think....

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Ah, OK, quietly moving over it is. Pity, thought the other image was quite funny. "Ha! Ha! Ha! Take that, dead ettin!"

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

LOL

Camlo doesn't attack the dead ettin. Instead, he moves across the room so stealthily even he doesn't hear himself coming.

Alwyn.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Four misses on me. Full attack on my ettin:

Attack 1: 11+11+1(haste)+3 (divine power)+4(bard)+4(prone target)+1(height advantage)-2(power attack)=AC 33, damage 3d6+7+3(divine power)+4(bard)+6(power attack)=32.
Attack 2: 9+6+1(haste)+3 (divine power)+4(bard)+4(prone target)+1(height advantage)-2(power attack)=AC 26, damage 3d6+7+3(divine power)+4(bard)+6(power attack)=31.
Attack 3 (bonus from haste): 12+11+1(haste)+3 (divine power)+4(bard)+4(prone target)+1(height advantage)-2(power attack)=AC 34, damage 3d6+7+3(divine power)+4(bard)+6(power attack)=30.

Alwyn paints the flagstones with the ettin's gore.

End of combat. 960xp each. I printed off stats for the ettins - not sure why I bothered. Does Camlo want to stab this one?

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Yes. Out of shere spite!

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

Sefayll descends toward the floor, but decides to remain a bit above the gore. "Well done, men! I doubt they will have anything in the way of useful information, but at least they won't sound the alarm."

She makes a cursory look around the room for anything resembling orders for the dead guards.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

"The giants will discover this sometime tomorrow, and the camp will be put on alert. We need to find a place to hide. Too bad about all the blood - if it had looked like the guards had just wandered off, maybe they wouldn't have thought much of it."

"Anyway, we should take avantage of our magical night vision and flight while we can and get far away from here."

Do I remember right that there is a river gorge between us and the giant camp? If so, we might find shelter there.

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

I believe we have roughly an hour's duration remaining for the darkvision.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

"I agree, I don't fancy being here when anyone turns up to check on them."

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

Illes looks around at all the gore, frowns and poses, "Wait... so I may or may not have dozed through the planning session, but why did we want to kill these snoozing dummies so bad? Couldn't we have just hustled through the air while they were sleeping on the job and been clear of here without painting the walls 'Hudak was Here'?"

Now you mention it, not sure.... It just seemed the done thing - giants, bloodbath.

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

It occurred to me earlier, but I figured- low wisdom I'll say something later ;)
Also there was a chance that I legitimately missed something about how they were also watching the area of their own army and could see for miles, but I wasn't so sure.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

"Something about (Nuke them from orbit...) it's the only way to be sure?"

"Ohhh, can we paint "Hudak was here!" on the wall in their blood?"

1 person marked this as a favorite.
HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

Hudak pauses halfway through the "D" and looks back at Camlo with one blood smeared hand and the ettin head he's using as a paintbrush. The barbarian is grinning from ear to ear and eagerly calls out, "You want to help? Grab another head!"

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

"We're not going to write 'Hudak was here', d&!#%@!. Instead, we'll write something inflammatory. In Giant, obviously. Illes, grab a head; I'll take the other. Lessee.... How about 'MESS WITH THE CRANNOCHS, DIE LIKE A MAGGOT!'? Hopefully that'll cause some internal divisions down in the camp and make the leadership suspect the wrong people. This'll back our story up... Everybody else stay out of the bloody pools." Alwyn gets his now-giant sized hands and boots all bloody; he then pushes the door open, planting a huge, gory handprint on the door and leaving a trail of bloody footprings leaving the watchtower.

"Don't spend too long, though - we have spells running. Oh, and one more. 'TERAKTINUS IS A lessee....Illes, what's a good Giant term for 'mincing nancy-boy'? Hell, we could even use the human term. That would really sting."

Alwyn stomps about outside, creating his false trail. A voice in the darkness - deep but clearly feminine - says:

Giant:

Spoiler:
"What are you doing?"

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Alwyn replies in Giant, loudly enough that his compatriots will hear him.

Giant::

"I'm stomping on roaches. G*$!@!n ettins fouled up the place, attracting all sorts of nasty bugs. Come over here and you'll see."

Also, we have Darkvision running - can I see the speaker?

Forgot about the Darkvision.

In the darkness Alwyn can see a towering figure, twenty feet tall - easily biggest giant he has seen. She is dressed in skins and holds an enormous spear, which she leans on casually. She is standing on the path leading up from the giant camp, obviously having made the climb from the camp in the valley while the adventurers were inside dealing with the ettins. She brushes shaggy black hair out of her eyes and says:

Giant:

Spoiler:
"Those roaches were guarding the watchtower. They may have been useless but they were there at my command. So what manner of creature are you?"

Alwyn, Knowledge (Nature) or Knowledge (Dungeoneering) DC 23:

Spoiler:
This is a taiga giant.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

I have neither skill. Know (religion) to think of an unpleasant Giant deity 14+6=20. So:

In giant:

Spoiler:
"They were indeed useless. They'll serve Uraza now, and will know better than being disrespectful there. Now, my name is Alyn, and I have come here from Rimeskull to see if Mokmurian is all he's made out to be." Alwyn plants his greatsword in the ground and sticks his hand out, offering a handshake. "And you are?"

Basically, I'm posing as a plate-armoured frost giant while the others gather up and we can deal with this one.

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

Hearing Alwyn speaking to someone or something outside, but unsure of the language (next level, I'm taking care of that!), Sefayll moves toward the top of the tower to observe. I don't recall any mention of windows, but she can find one that gives a view of the scene outside, she will try to detect thoughts on the giantess, given the necessary action - so it's probably next round.
