Alwyn will presumably assist.
Dravite will too: Strength check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Elisile is far stronger than she looks, and could beat Veth or Illes in an arm-wrestle, especially so in the bugbear form that she now shifts into, having quietly cast alter self whilst Alwyn was finding a battering ram. So the now bulky, ugly and hairy woman will assist too: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 But she doesn't want to break a nail ...

The door bursts open. Inside, piles of rubble dominate this large room, along with bits of flesh, broken weapons, splashes of blood, and a few dead ogres that have been torn limb from limb. Wind and rain howls through circular openings to the north that look out over the Storval Deep, and puddles of water have collected on the floor. Thick sheets of ropy green fungus grow along the walls here, winding in through both the windows and through numerous cracks in the domed ceiling thirty feet above; behind the fungal vines, the walls are decorated with hundreds of skull-shaped carvings.
Perception check, DC 7:
Camlo Zenovia |
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Perception check, DC 7:
Camlo floats slowly into the room, looking around as he does. As he moves into the doorway, he suddenly shouts.
"T-t-t-trolls! I-in then, dun... ahem, there!" and he points.
Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

The sludgy-green blobs are the fungus. You can move through them freely but they block line of sight. However, they are destroyed by fire area effect spells. The grey is the exterior surface of the dam walkway. The blue is the lake behind the dam and the darker grey is the side of the dam which descends into the gorge.
There are door at N/6-7 (just bashed in by you), N/14-15, AB/6-7 and AB/14-15 (all three closed and barred). The area T-U/12-15 is a staircase going down.
You are on the grey bit west of the door - I would presume that the ram-holders are first, plus Camlo since he spotted the trolls. Please place yourselves.
Trolls initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Initiative:
Camlo 24
Elisile 20
Alwyn 12
Illes 11
Hudak 10
Vethran 7
Trolls 5
Dravite ?

Camlo moves into the room, staying high, and for the most part, avoiding the trolls, but hoping to get behind them, about the same time his friends get into combat....
Move tp T3
OK, you can do that on your turn, but we haven't got there just yet. That can be your move action.
Waiting for Illes' (the King-Sized Crooner) position.

I'm asking for your starting position, not where you move to on your turn. Does O4 suit?

Ah! Figured being top of the init you'd need an action! But yes, where ever to start is fine, Camlo has plenty of movement to get there, and is basically wasting an action to get behind the enemy anyway...

Camlo Zenovia |
You have a standard action left - anything you want to do with it?
Can't think of anything worwthhile ;)
But that would be quite a big stretch, during what is obviously not a surprise round....It's one of the things I'm finding interestingly difficult about Camlo. His damage is appalling unless he gets sneak attack, but actually getting into a position where he can takes a lot of coordination when there are other such hard hitters that take most critters out before he can get a flank etc etc...It's a conundrum.
Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
They are flat-footed, since you go first in the initiative order. And no, I don't want to consider that Camlo loaded his crossbow if you didn't tell me he did, especially as you were implying you were trying to get behind them to go stabbity - it's sort of up to you to think of these things while going into a potentially dangerous area. You can, however, fly in and stab a troll and get sneak attack if you want it.

Oh, ok, in that case, that bolt hit the Northernmost one ;)
For some reason, I always thought flat-footed only worked in the surprise round. I seem to get something wrong with every single action in this game...Hopefully some of the mistakes are sinking in and I'm getting better ;)

I'm going to stop editing posts....
Ok, that worked out, I'll change my action, then put the computer down, Camlo will fly in, stab the Northern most troll with his rapier, and hope to all hell that someone else intervenes soon enough to stop him getting squished....
Keep the rolls above though, the mods are all the same, I'm not worried about the difference between at d3 and a d4...
Elisile Starbrow |
Elisile leaps into the air and twists, flying past Hudak, nocking an arrow to her bow as she goes.
Flies to S8 to hang just below the ceiling (25 foot elevation?) and fires down at troll 2 with electric, flaming arrows.1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24 Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 plus 1d6 ⇒ 3 electrical plus 1d6 ⇒ 6 fire.
Alwyn.
Alwyn Agnarrson |
Alwyn pushes past Hudak and barges into the room. As he spots the trolls, he tosses a ceramic pot at the closest one, making it burst into flames.
I don't have enough movement to reach either troll, so I'll just move in and throw an alchemist's fire on troll 2. So, move to Q7; attack roll 13+7=touch AC 20, damage 5 fire.
Illes, then Hudak.
Illes Elandru |
Illes darts past Hudak, drawing his rapier on the move. The bard stays low in a defensive stance and begins singing a Shoanti song of vengeance...
"I pull the sword from a glowing fire
The hammer rings out on the anvil
Forging it with rage and hate
I will seal my enemy's fate"
Move to R5
Inspire Courage +3 att / weapon damage, +3 vs charm/fear
