You can attempt to tumble out of harms way using Acrobatics.

Sorry about the delay, hectic day at work.

Hoping that the rest of the group will be able to deal with one wounded ogre, Elisile takes a step forward and keeps a careful watch through the open doorway at the corridor beyond with her bow drawn and ready, watching for any other denizens of the fort who might be alerted by the sounds of battle.

5 foot step forward to G2, Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20, ready action to shoot any enemies entering the corridor.

Indeed, not sure Camlo's wise enough to realise that though, perhaps he will be scared enough!

I guess we’ll find out soon, because its his turn. ;-)

Anyway, knowing when to retreat might be based on wisdom, but combat tactics would be based more on intelligence, and tumbling away to let the heavy hitters move in is certainly a smart tactic at this point (well, if he’s got a decent acrobatics check), unless Camlo has something up his sleeve that we’re not aware of.

Yeah, don't roleplay your character to death.

Never even occurred to me to check that.

Seeing how little damage Camlo has done to the beast, and how much it has just done to him, he jumps back (to E3, Acrobatics: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (17) + 17 = 34)

MAP

That's F3 but it's OK as you can get there anyway.

oh no, meant E3, did the map wrong. The acrobatics means I can only move half speed, so 10ft, and don't want to run compleatly away...

Correct Link to the correct map :)

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

Illes begins shouting at the ogre in some kind of language which seems to be heavy on the rolled consonants, then slips his wand through his belt and rubs several lightly oiled links of his chain shirt between thumb and two fingers. He points at the ogre and shouts something else as the ogre hook erupts in a thick layer of dripping oil.

Giant

Spoiler:
"Whoa! Why don't you go ahead and put that hook down before you go and hurt someone!?"

"Ok fine! Let me help you with that..."

MA: Stow wand
SA: Cast Grease - Target: Ogre's hook
Reflex DC 15 or drop.
Save again every round for 6 minutes.
Seemed more useful than area effect which he could ignore if he made the first save by just staying in place.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

after Alwin.....

Hudak sets himself; about to yell and curse, he remembers that stealth is at a premium, and he's got the devil's meatbill to pay the piper on.

2h, bastard sword, pow attack
Attack 1:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
to hit,

1d10 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22
damage if successful.

Attack 2:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

damage if successful
1d10 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25

sorry; thought it was my go; I spoilered it all until Alwyn went.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Alwyn rumbles up to the ogre and whacks it with his greatsword.

Move to C3 before attacking with Destructive Smite. Attack roll 14+8=AC 22, damage 9+4+3=16.

Hudak wrote:

sorry; thought it was my go.

Don't forget you second attack!

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

Gotter did!

Ogre save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

The ogrehook falls from the giant's sausage-like fingers with a clang. Alwyn and Hudak then weigh in with their swords, hacking and smashing flesh and bone. The ogre is barely standing as it howls in frustration and attempts a hay-maker punch at Hudak's head.

Which, of course, provokes an AoO.

Elisile and Vethran:

Spoiler:
Two more ogres wander curiously to the end of the corridor, spy the human and the elf and then whoop in savage joy. They make a very odd sight, for some reason dressed in human-sized armour that barely covers any of their warty hide, let alone provide actual protection. But their ogrehooks are correctly sized and deadly-looking as they begin their charge.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

aoo:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 to hit;

damage
1d10 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

blaarg...

Attack roll on Hudak: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28, damage 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 subdual damage.

The ogre lands a bone-crunching fist in the middle of Hudak's face, dislodging a few teeth and flattening his nose. Hudak flicks away the blood, shaken but determined.

Elisile.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

oww!

[edit]clw can put teeth back, right?

Elisile and Vethran:

Spoiler:
For reference, the ogres in the corridotr are at F-G/16-17 and F-G/14-5.

AoO before he connects with Hudak's face: Attack roll 13+8=AC 21, damage 8+4=12.

I don't think that an unarmed attack generates an AoO from anyone other that the party being attacked with said unarmed attack. I'm willing to be corrected on that but for this fight I'm sticking with that interpretation.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Fair enough - that's one more change from D&D to PF.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Looks like I got skipped in init between Hudak and the ogre.

Vethran looks to the end of the hallway and, with a look of surprise, he cries out "Incoming!"

Hastily, he abandons his previously charged spell and enacts a more devastating one on the approaching ogres.

Fireball. Centered on F-G/14-15. 9d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 6, 5, 3, 3, 6, 3) + 3 = 40 fire damage, Reflex DC 21 for half.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Forgot to mention that I was 5' stepping to G2 before casting so as to have a clear line of effect.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Elisile fires at the nearer of the two targets:
14 + 8 + 2 (favoured enemy) = 24
Damage: 4 + 2 + 2 (favoured enemy) + 4 (electrical) = 12

Ogre saves:
1d20 ⇒ 18
1d20 ⇒ 10

The fireball explodes in the corridor. As the after-images are blinked away, the corpses of the two ogres lie piled in the passage. Elisile finds she has no target to attack.

Elisile may change her action this round.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Seeing the effects of his spell, Vethran raises an amused brow and calls out to the others. "Nevermind!"

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Supposing that the sound of an exploding fireball is probably going to attract further attention, Elisile chooses to protect herself by quickly pulling out a scroll and casting blur on herself.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Camlo’s turn.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Camlo takes the tiome to pull a potion from his backpack,a nd down the contents. Cure moderate wounds, looks like a sensible option right now, curing 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (6, 2) + 2 = 10 points of damage.

On fireballs/force/sound:

The physicist in me really wants to know how something that creates "almost no pressure" can create a "dull roar"..

hey, it's magic ;)

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

Illes draws another wand from its thigh holster and draws power from it to himself then reaches out to lay a hand on Hudak's back passing it along as a conduit for the charge.

MA: Draw wand
SA: Wand CLW 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Heals 4 damage and 4 nonlethal

Alwyn is up

Presumably because the gentle giggling of fairies doesn't sound dangerous enough?

Presuming you were referencing the spoiler...I find it odd, because I think a fireball that does force damage *and* makes a load noise, vs a fireball that does no force damage, and makes no noise, could give some funky options... But enough ranting...

Alwyn puts the ogre out of its misery and it sprawls in the entrails of the corpse it was playing with.

End of combat.

960xp each.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Huzzah! Level 7, here we come! I'm taking another level of cleric, and my new feat is Selective Channeling. Uh, so... does ability damage heal up when we gain a level? No?

Alwyn's leveled. I rolled a 6 for my hit points; I'll pick new spells once I can cast them... :(

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

heh heh....now I gotta level up...

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

HP: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Leveled as Evoker (duh). Took black tentacles and ice storm as my new spells. Gained Empower Spell as a feat.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Elisile is levelled, took Eldritch Knight, rolled 8 for hit points.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

“Make a quick search of the chamber,” Elisile suggests quietly. “I’ll keep an eye out here for further trouble.” She looks intently down the corridor, her bow once again raised.

Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

"Yes ma'am", Alwyn grins as Elisile keeps watch. "What the hell is wrong with these people?", he mutters to himself as he pokes through the dead ogre's macabre playthings.

I'm firing up a Detect magic to assit our searching. Perception 11+10=21.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Vethran, finally getting a decent look at what the ogre was doing, visibly pales at the sight and quickly retreats into the stairwell they came in through, trying his best to keep down that morning's meal.

After a moment to compose himself, he comes back into the corridor, still looking a bit sick. "So, ah... I think I might've thought of something I could do differently after that last fireball. If there's no ogres just up around those corners, maybe we could take a brief respite while I work out the math in my spellbook? I think it could be a substantial boon to us all. I can also reload Elisile's rapier, if she likes."

Just need 15 minutes to fill up my FIVE new spell slots from the level up, if plausible.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Oooooh.... I like the sound of that. Also, are anyone besides Camlo and Hudak hurt?

"Hey, Hudak, while Vethran does his thing... Gather up your loose teeth, willya? We'll do some field dentistry while putting your face back in order. Want some ogre teeth? No?"

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

"mewwy vumgy, buk bafe."
