Morthak spatters the raider's brains in the dirt.

Djal.

Map updated.

Screaming in defiance, Djal strikes at the bandit he's previously injured: "This is for all those years of servitude. We are free! FREE!"

Precog, PA vs prone: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 1 + 4 - 2 = 232d4 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 + 6 = 14

"Come on! Get up! I dare you..." he taunts.

AoO if they get up and move to engage Djal:

AoO trip with precog and PA vs B5: 1d20 + 13 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 13 + 1 - 2 = 16
AoO trip with precog and PA vs B7: 1d20 + 13 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 13 + 1 - 2 = 24

Djal finishes off another bandit.

Map updated.

B5 down. Cahel.

HP 27/29; AC 16 / T11 / F15; Fort +6, Ref +3, Will +9; Perc +11 Half-giant map Druid (Saurian Shaman) 4

Cahel touches Grea, and Grea feels strength and anger welling up inside.

I have to hit him eventually, right?

Jaryx steps back (to W21). "This is why no one wants to play with you!"

Once again, he throws at the bandit.

Soulbolt Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 19 Point-Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Deadly Aim
Damage: 2d8 + 1 + 4 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (4, 4) + 1 + 4 + 1 + 4 = 18 Enhancement, Strength, Point-Blank Shot, Deadly Aim

A second missiles follows immediate after.

Soulbolt Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 19 Point-Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Deadly Aim
Damage: 2d8 + 1 + 4 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (4, 8) + 1 + 4 + 1 + 4 = 22 Enhancement, Strength, Point-Blank Shot, Deadly Aim

Jaryx wipes the c0cky look off the bandit's face by excavating a crater in it with two bolts in rapid succession.

B8 down.

Th'Kal Acrobatics 1d20 + 19 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 19 + 20 = 41

Th'Kal leaps over Arakan's head to land beside the bandit. He swipes with one of his hatchets but the raider deflects it with his shield.

Th'Kal attacks B6
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 to hit, damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Jareen.

Jareen brings his staff crashing into the bandit attacking him(B6), then steps back (5ft step to L20).

Atk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 DMG: 1d6 ⇒ 5

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Jareen waves his staff, more in warning than aggression, as he backs off.

The angry little Thri'kreen clicks, "Kjal!" and spins away from her friend's combat. Instead she leaps at the mounted bandit with claws flailing in rapid succession.

Move to Q17. Flurry.
Effects active: Stoneskin +1 AC , offensive precog +1 to hit , minor metamorph, +10 speed

Flurry unarmed, off precog: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 1 = 9 ... damage, cahel's boost: 1d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 2 = 7

The bandit facing Th'Kal hits back half-heartedly, sensing the end.

B6 attacks Th'Kal
1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 2 = 16 to hit, damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
That's a miss.

Meanwhile, the last mounted bandit turns hit mount to hit back at Grea.

B2 and his kank attack Grea
Bandit 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 to hit, damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Kank 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 to hit, damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 plus poison (Fort DC 13, frequency 1/round for 6 rounds, effect 1d2 Str, cure 1 save)

The bandit fighting Djal manages to avoid the mul's tripping spear and closes angrily, axe in hand.

B7 gets up (and Djal's first AoO misses) and attacks Djal
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 to hit, damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Eight bandits went to three pretty sharpish - nice work.

Arakan.

Map updated.

I have three AoOs per round. Could I have struck him when he stood up AND moved forward?

If so:

Djal snaps his guisarme at the coming bandits, aiming for his exposed armpit.
PA and precog: 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 9 - 2 + 1 = 132d4 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2) + 6 + 6 = 15

I can see Djal may have to die soon. Anyway, that's a miss too. And it was a 5' step.

Why soon? Fame beckons! Anyway, thanks about the clarification.

Arakan.

Arakan delays. Morthak.

Male Half-Elf Mindvivisectionist 3/Archaeologist 1 (AC: 16 [T: 13 /F: 14]; HP: 28/28; F+5 (+2 vs Poison), R+8, W+4; Init: +2; Perc: +7 [Low-light vision])

I don't know why, but my turn always comes around as soon as I'm unavailable, yet I'm able to take it the day Aubs says I delay.

Once his favorite Kreen moves into position, Arakan's bravery finally peeks out. He dances through the space between the bandit and the fire, to take full advantage of where Th'Kal moved. With his threat lingering, and an ally in position, Arakan takes his swing. He aims to place a knife deep in the enemy's back. "I tried to warn you, but now you have to face an angry Kreen. MY angry Kreen."

Remember, Bandit 6 is Shaken by my Intimidate
Last round of Archaeologist's luck

Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 plus SA 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7 (if the crit hits add 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 9)

Maybe I should hurry up and say that Arakan is delaying sooner.

Male Dwarf Psychic Warrior 4 :: 37/40 hp :: AC21, Fort +8, Ref +3, Will +5

Morthak steps out of the hut, over the sleeping kank, and surveys the battle. He immediately turns right and rushes over to flank Djal's opponent, attacking with his warhammer.

Exsiccating Warhammer (power attack/psionic weapon/flanking): 1d20 + 7 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 1 + 2 = 12; Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 + 1 = 10 plus Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Arakan dances round the bandit and sticks him, but the wound isn't fatal.

Morthak's blow is hasty and wide.

Djal.

Map updated.

Djal notices the dwarf joining the fight, but his lack of skill makes him wonder if he'll be more help than hindrance. Regardless, the bandit had now closed in, and Djal needed some space to use his guisarme. Quickly, the Mul shuffles back to bring his tip back between him and the bandit, then stabs the weapon between the bandit's legs to bring him down.

Am I correct in assuming that Jaryx can see through the fence well enough to target a bandit within? With a 40' range, Bandit #2 and his kank would be in the second range increment even accounting for a high, arching shot - but only if I can see them. If I can...

Jaryx turns toward the fence, ignoring the livestock for the moment, and peers through. Seeing a bandit still on his mount, he takes a step back (5' to X22) and flings a pair of missiles over the stockade at the kank-rider.

Soul Bolt: 1d20 + 7 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 2 - 2 = 17 Rapid Shot, range penalty
Soul Bolt: 1d20 + 7 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 - 2 - 2 = 18 Rapid Shot, range penalty

Whoa, those might hit. I didn't roll damage because I figured with a +3, there was no chance...

Damage: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (6, 6) + 5 = 17
Damage: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (2, 4) + 5 = 11

Ack - I did not figure in firing into melee and I have no Precise Shot, so those attack rolls may need another -4.

Djal knocks the bandit off his feet again. And Cahel impales the last mounted bandit, who slumps and falls from the saddle.

B7 prone, B2 down permanently.

Your action has been superseded by events, but the gate isn't really something you can peer and shoot through, otherwise it wouldn't be much use as a gate. Please reconsider your action. In the meantime...

Th'kal closes on his prey.

Bite 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 = 26, damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Only bandit 7 left? Heh.

Jareen again uses his act to cover his spell casting.

"Oh Lords of fire and desert heat! Hear our call once more and smite these enemies!"

With that he gestures from the fire to the last bandit.

Magic missile, both missiles at him.

Preempting my turn, yay.

Arakan lets out a loud "HAH!" As he strides boldly around the fire. Loudly, so the villagers can hear, he puts on a little show for their sake, "How many times had these poor wretches begged for mercy? What did you do then, stand idly by, or help grind them into the sand under your heel? Should we follow your example?" He looks around at those assembled, trying to feel the crowd. In a more normal tone, he 'offers' "The extent of our mercy is measured wholly by your willingness to spill all you know of your encampment."

Move to N18
Bluff 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21, as he has no intentions of sparing the man. He's willing to let the village (or Morthak) decide.

"You do not deserve mercy," Morthak grumbles, stalking towards the raider with deadly intent clear in his eyes.

"I will help." Still in the visage of a Thri'kreen she sidesteps around the bandit, then scuttles toward the gate. "Let's go Jaryx."

I went for the speed boost thinking I might have to chase bandits, but I'll use it to chase mounts instead. How do you want to handle the pursuit and round up, Aubrey?

I'll hand-wave it - just assume it takes a few minutes to round them up.

Djal's lips tighten. He knows both Morthak and Arakan are right, though they do not agree. A complex dilemma he is happy not to have.

He walks up to them and says: "What you want does not matter. You are guest of the tribe, and the tribe shall decide of his faith." He turns to the bandit: "You best give us a good reason not to choose slow death to the ants and the sun!"
