Gil |
Hi, Gil, sorry to be a pain but I just noticed in your description when you cast the Wall of Fire that it was a Shadow Conjuration - is that right?
No worries and sorry for more confusion. Shadow Evocation, actually. I didn't spell it out, but that is what the Will DC 21 save was for. The wall itself does not provide a save. You always catch everything when I screw up, so I figured you knew what I was up to this time, too.
Gil |
There appeared to be some possible concern about the spell I used to create the wall of fire and I don't think Aubrey responded after I cast the lightning bolt last round, so I think it's better for me to wait until he's confirmed he has what he needs from me before I add to the confusion. I'm also curious if any of these monstrosities is looking like we've done some damage yet.

OK, great. It appears you have taken care of all of the fire damage rolls and will saves, so I won't worry about them at this point.
Gil moves to the center aisle L18 and says, "Head down, Janosz." When he accommodates, she levels the wand and fires another lightning bolt down the aisle, left of center. Hitting OZ4, OZ6, OZ7 and whoever might be behind them to 120' distance.
Electrical Damage DC 18 for half: 10d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 3, 4, 2, 3, 5, 2, 2) = 32

Reflex saves
OZ6 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
OZ7 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Another zombie goes splosh as Gil blasts it with lightning.
OZ4 down.
The zombies continue to march. One comes crashing through the pews while more come through the entrance.
Wall of Fire damage for OZ5 and OZ6 4d6 + 20 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 3) + 20 = 36
Will saves for OZ8 and OZ9
OZ8 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
OZ9 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Scorch damage for OZ7 4d4 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 3) = 10
Scorch damage for OZ8 and OZ9 2d4 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2

5' step to M17 before opening up on OZ1. I'm using Point Blank Shot, Manyshot, Rapid Shot, and Clustered Shots.
Attack 1: 9+20+1(PBS)=AC 30, damage 2d8+6+2(PBS)=19 + 3 electricity + 9 fire.
Attack 2: 10+20+1=AC 31, damage 1d8+3+1=10 + 2 electricity + 5 fire.
Attack 3: 10+14+1=AC 25, damage 1d8+3+1=11 + 3 electricity + 4 fire.
Attack 4: 10+9+1=AC 20, damage 1d8+3+1=7 + 4 electricity + 3 fire.
Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
OK, he's got 10' reach and still gets an AoO.
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15 to hit, damage 2d8 + 11 ⇒ (4, 4) + 11 = 19
The ogre bursts like an overripe fruit, spattering the area with brown putrid goo that is followed by an almost indescribably vile stench of rot and corruption. Janosz pivots on his heel and fires his last shot at the zombie lurching down the main aisle, and despatches it in the same way.
OZ1 and OZ5 down.
Gelb.

Gil |
"Farlowe! Where are you? We could use one of your fireballs about now!"
Delaying to see what the wizard chooses to do and see if we can coordinate our efforts. I could use shadow evocation one more time.
Ezreal Farlowe |
So there is a partially real wall of fire between Ez and the remaining ogres. I would imagine he can't see them until he disbelieves the wall of fire or they cross it.
Knowing that shadow conjuration is one of Gil's bag of tricks and the raging inferno side of it is facing the other way he might get that it is hers immediately.
What kind of action to disbelieve so that is becomes mostly transparent to him?
Assuming it is a standard, I'll just delay until they come through.
Ezreal Farlowe |
From the mess splattered around the room and the bulky shapes lumbering toward the fire wall, Ezreal gets the idea pretty quickly. "Just for you, Gil." The mage flings another fiery bead at the back wall which promptly explodes amid the remaining zombies.
Empowered Fireball: 10d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 1, 2, 5, 5, 6, 6, 3) = 36 x1.5 = 54

The three ogre zombies burst open like sausages left in a hot pan. But still more march forward to take their place.

Kazadar strides forward (to L15) and fires a beam of searing light from his hammer at the ogre zombie behind the foremost abomination (OZ11).

Actually, as with Ez, Janosz can see through the Wall of Fire due to its partially illusory nature.
In that case... 5' step to M16 before opening up on OZ10. I'm using Manyshot, Rapid Shot, and Clustered Shots.
Attack 1: 10+20=AC 30, damage 2d8+6=13 + 5 electricity + 8 fire.Attack 2: 11+20=AC 31, damage 1d8+3=9 + 1 electricity + 6 fire.

Attack 4: 10+9=AC 19, damage 1d8+3=8 + 3 electricity + 4 fire.
Ezreal Farlowe |
Ezreal retrieves his scroll case and lifts up off the ground to hover above and behind Janosz. He draws on the cord and recites briefly to send a volley of none shards at one of the zombies.
Magic Missile CL 3: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
Janosz's arrows burst another zombie and Kazadar's ray destroys another. Ezreal's arrow is low key in comparison.
Another zombie comes blundering out. But behind it (off the map) something big but indistinct approaches up the corridor.
Will save OZ12 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Move to L7 if Hasted, if not, then L9.
religion: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30 vs Mr Big when he comes into view
Readying a standard action to attack with my hammer, should an enemy come within melee range.
Kazadar trudges forward, a mountain of steel, to just this side of the flaming wall. His shield is held high and his weapon ready to strike any who pass through.
Janosz Frogshanks |
"Uh, Kazadar... We don't know what's coming down the corridor. You might in the very least want to get out of the way."
5' step to M15 before firing on OZ12. I'm using Manyshot, Rapid Shot, and Clustered Shots.
Attack 1: 12+20=AC 32, damage 2d8+6=13 + 3 electricity + 7 fire.

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
Sorry about the delay - been um-ing and ah-ing about what exactly is facing you. First it was one thing, then I changed my mind, then I wasn't sure. Anyway, enough delay!
The creature squeezes out of the passage and into the temple. It is enormous, about twenty feet tall, its head nearly brushing the ceiling. Basically humanoid, a gangly third arm projects from one of its shoulders. Tusks fill its maw, above which sits a heavy steel helm, obscuring the rest of its head. Similarly thick plates of metal are riveted directly on to its dead flesh, turning it into an undead armoured behemoth, and with one arm it holds a heavy shield bigger than a dinner table. Yet it moves with a fluidity and speed that the zombies could not match and a rudimentary intelligence glitters in its eyes.
Will save 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (11) + 20 = 31
Unimpressed by Gil's faux wall of flames it lashes out with its third arm at Kazadar.
1d20 + 21 ⇒ (18) + 21 = 39 to hit, damage 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
It takes damage from the Wall of Fire for that, but has disbelieved it. By the way, that Wall of Fire must be due to expire some time.
Kaz.
Janosz Frogshanks |
"Whoa."
.
.
.
"I'm actually quite impressed. That's not your everyday, mass-issue undead monstrosity. And with all that bolt-on armour plating, it'll be hard to hurt."
A question - as this probably is an undead giant of sorts, does Kazadar's dwarven AC bonus versus giants apply? Or does the fact that it is undead trump its giantitude?
Kazadar Soranath |
zombies retain any subtypes except alignment-based ones, so if it was in fact a giant, it still is. It'd go from Humanoid (Giant) to Undead (Giant). Though my +4 wont help against that particular attack. in the future, it might, since that was on a roll of 18.
anyway, did my religion check from earlier tell me anything?
