The shooting was the surprise round. On to normal initiative.
Janosz.
Janosz Frogshanks |
No move. All attacks go on S1 using Manyshot, Rapid Shot and Clustered Shots. BTW, what are the shooters? Humans? Halflings? Awakened half-farspawn penguistirges mounted on pogo sticks?
Attack 1: 10+19=AC 29, damage 2d8+6=16 + 10 fire + 3 electricity.
Attack 2: 12+19=AC 31, damage 1d8+3=10 + 5 fire + 2 electricity.
Attack 3: 13+14=AC 27, damage 1d8+3=10 + 5 fire + 1 electricity.
Attack 4: 11+9=AC 20, damage 1d8+3=4 + 2 fire + 5 electricity.
Janosz starts pouring arrown down the hallway. "There are traps all over the place in here. Be careful where you step."
"So, is the angel a statue or an illusion, or is it a creature masquerading as one?"
Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
A wall of flame suddenly erupts down the middle of the room, splitting the party.
See the map. The side to the left of the red line is the burn-y side of the wall - 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 fire damage to Rod and Ez.
Nev.
Ezreal Farlowe |
Ezreal throws up an elbow to shield his face from the searing heat and scans back down the hall to see how far the wall extends. In a low voice he says to Gil and Rodergo, "Hold tight. I may be able to bring this down."
ithuriel |
I would go for Rodergo, but at the moment I'm not sure what his spells are and what has been used. I think Vatts posted a new list for today, but I'm a little too lazy to search for it at the moment. We should work out something for tracking it while he is gone though so we all know where to look if taking his turn.
Vattnisse |
Rod memorises these spells:
CL 9; WIS 22; DC 16+spell level
Domains: Protection, Exorcism0th (4): Create water, Detect magic, Light, Resistance
1st (4+2+1): Deathwatch, Divine favour, Hide from undead x2, Remove fear, Shield of faith; Protection from evil (D)
2nd (4+2+1): Lesser restoration x4, Remove paralysis x2; Magic circle against evil (D)
3rd (3+1+1): Invisibility purge, Remove disease, Searing light x2; Protection from energy (D)
4th (2+1+1): Death ward, Divine power, Holy smite; Dismissal (D)
5th (1+1+1): Disrupting weapon, Flame strike; Dispel evil (D)
Ezreal Farlowe |
Rodergo brings his heavy shield up between him and the flame and prays to the Silver Flame for her guidance and protection.
MA: Draw shield.
SA: Cast Shield of Faith. This overlays but improves his ring of protection (deflection) so only increases AC by +1.
AC 30
Rod has also burned protection from Energy (acid) in the previous trap room
Gil is up
Gil |
Gil casts glitterdust on the J/K-12/13 intersection based on Ezreal's suggestion. She moves into the room, looking for traps as she goes.
Scanning for traps as she moves to J27: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (3) + 17 = 20
Will DC 18 to avoid being blinded; no save vs sparkly outline
Ezreal Farlowe |
Ezreal spreads his fingers out like claws and begins trying to shred the weave of the magic sustaining the fire wall, but growls in frustration. "Damn it. I cannot get a grip on it to unravel it. We may have to go in to avoid roasting here. Rodergo, give us some cover." He draws a wand from its holster.
SA: Dispel Magic vs Fire Wall
Dispel Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13 + Action Point: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5 = 16 vs spell DC. Almost impossible that this worked.
Yikes. 3 APs remaining.
MA: Draw Wand of Dispel Magic
Janosz Frogshanks |
5' step to N27 (unless that's where the pressure plate I spotted was). All attacks go on S2 using Manyshot, Rapid Shot and Clustered Shots. I forgot to add my Favoured Enemy bonuses last round, but they are included this time
Attack 1: 9+19+4(FE)=AC 32, damage 2d8+6+8(FE)=24 + 9 fire + 7 electricity.
Attack 2: 10+19+4=AC 33, damage 1d8+3+4=12 + 3 fire + 5 electricity.
Attack 3: 9+14+4=AC 27, damage 1d8+3+4=14 + 2 fire + 2 electricity.
Attack 4: 9+9+4=AC 22, damage 1d8+3+4=12+ 3 fire + 4 electricity.

Sorry, yes it does.
Gil's spell reveals a human-sized figure, covered in glittering silver dust. Her triumph is shortlived, however, as she blunders into a trap. A blade sweeps round the pillar she shelters behind at roughly ankle height, trying to cut her feet off, before withdrawing again.
You didn't see the trap. Reflex save DC 25, 3d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 1, 3) + 10 = 20 damage. If you fail the Reflex save you fall prone; in order to move after that you can only crawl and you also take 5 points of damage a round bleed damage - both of these effects persist until you receive magical healing. If you succeed at the save, you take half damage and do not take the movement penalty or the bleed damage.
There is a thud as the other shooter falls to the ground, suffering from multiple perforations.
To answer Janosz - yes, the pressure plate is in N27. Your first shot killed him, so you get a move action.
The glittery figure remains behind the pillar, wiping his (or her) eyes.
Casts a spell. Will save 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Nev.

To answer Janosz - yes, the pressure plate is in N27. Your first shot killed him, so you get a move action.
Move to L23. I go through the Wall of fire, so I take 2d6+CL damage, however much that is. Perception check to avoid more traps along the way 11+23=34.
Nevharath |
Nevharath makes a motion to step forward, but disappears in a wash of blue light. The same light appears behind the glittery assailant, where Nevharath appears.
Move: manifest Dimension Slide to J12, augmented to be a move action (9pp)
Standard: Vital Strike "A"
falchion: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23
slashing: 4d4 + 10 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 2) + 10 = 20
Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
2d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 6) + 10 = 22 fire damage to Janosz.
Janosz jumps through the wall of fire. Unfortunately, he fails to notice a large pit trap before him, its hinged trapdoor swinging open.
Reflex save DC 25 or you fall in the pit. No Perception check as the Wall of Fire is opaque, so you just have to rely on reflexes. If you fail the check, you fall 40' for 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 4, 3) = 19 damage on to spikes - two attacks:
Spike 1 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25, damage 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 4) + 10 = 18
Spike 2 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22, damage 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 6) + 10 = 19
The trapdoor then will swing shut.
Nev can't have that action. The Wall of Fire is opaque so he cannot see A. Also, Ezreal only whispered about A to Rod and Gil after a roaring a barrier of flame arrived to divide the party. So you don't know about him - and nor does Janosz, actually, though he can probably see him now. Please reconsider.
Ezreal Farlowe |
When Janosz emerges through the inferno Ezreal shouts, "Frogshanks- caster at the fourth pillar! Drop him!"
Yeah- I didn't want to shout to tip him off what we were about to do and it was useless info to Janosz until I could get the wall down. But then I wasn't expecting him to just walk through it ;)

Vattmona |
Rod moves to K29 before casting Holy smite on the glowing figure. As Nev is neutral, we want to avoid getting him in the blast; thus, it is centered in the I-J 9-10 intersection. Glow-boy takes 5d8=26 damage and is blinded, Will 19 for half damage and avoiding the blindness (if he is an evil outsider, the damage is 9d6=33).
Gil, then Ezreal.
Gil |
I suspect that Rodergo will need to move into the room to target that square and he might be wanting to get away from the hot side of the wall, anyway.
Gil casts see invisibility and draws a wand. No move. She will peer around the pillar to see what she can see.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34 +3 for traps
Ezreal Farlowe |
After seeing the scythe blades try to cut Gil down at the ankles and the pit nearly swallow Janosz, Ezreal decides not to gamble on being as light on his feet as they are.
The Karnnathi mage begins casting and in seconds lifts off the floor gliding above it and further into the room.
SA: Cast Fly
Move to J24
Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
Gil:
She's at I-J/20-21.
Janosz.
