Gil looks up briefly with a grateful smile before returning to the task at hand.

Has it really been 9 rounds since Gil fell? It doesn't appear that he should have had a second save to end the effect early. Unless the steam gave him another...

m ROD! CLERIC 6 EXORCIST SLVR FLAME 5exp =125,535(cast as a 9th level cleric)

Lightbringer's at 72 or 77 hp; can't remember if my channel energy only is half effective on him like healing is.

@Gil;....I'm guessing he's going to consider us messing with the creation forge's controls as a hostile act/against his "programming."

79/79 hp, 0 nonlethal; Effects: ; Perception +16, vs traps +20; Guise: Non-descript male gambler

The spell he was under should keep him fascinated regardless of what we do unless we cause a direct threat to him (I think). The spell duration is concentration + CL rounds, so I was thinking 9 rounds before it would wear off. I just don't want to deal with him and the forge at the same time is all.

Don't you worry about him - that's my department.

Granted, but yeah, I'm worried.

Rolund grits his teeth as the Purified’s healing washes over him. He continues the healing with some of his own while he goes to recover his sword. He eyes the Caretaker warily. “Whatever you two are up to, make it quick. The guardian seems to be recovering.”

Swift action: lay on hands 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6.
Move action: move to O12 with blessing of fervor.
Standard action: recover sword.

Runzyl

HPs: 96 / 96, APs: 11/8 Effects: Karnnathi Wizard (Universalist) 12 / Cataclysm Mage 1

To continue the shutdown process will we make another Kn arcana and Disable check respectively?

Yes.

Map updated.

Having no knowledge of the steam forge's workings, Runzyl holds fast, ready to strike against any threats that make themselves apparent.

The Caretaker is, as far as Runzyl knows, a non-combatant due to Gil's spells. So he'll be on delay and looking for anything to present itself.

Bor grunts in appreciation for the healing from Rodergo as he moves into position to recover his greataxe.

Move: move to R-S/8-9 with blessing of fervor.
Standard: recover +1 greataxe.

Caretaker, then Ezreal.

"You do not have authorisation! Step away from the console!" booms the Caretaker. It moves to intercept Gil and Ezreal but the Wall of Force is in the way. It then tries to get round it, but Runzyl blocks its path. It lashes out furiously at the elf.

Full attack on Runzyl:
Attack 1: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (14) + 23 = 37 to hit, damage 2d8 + 20 ⇒ (7, 5) + 20 = 32
Attack 2: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24 to hit, damage 2d8 + 20 ⇒ (8, 5) + 20 = 33
Attack 3: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26 to hit, damage 2d8 + 20 ⇒ (3, 2) + 20 = 25
Slam: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22 to hit, damage 1d8 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26

Ez, though as Runzyl's delaying he can act too if he wishes.

HPs: 96 / 96, APs: 11/8 Effects: Karnnathi Wizard (Universalist) 12 / Cataclysm Mage 1

Ezreal watches for Gil's cues and makes his best guess abotu the shut down sequence...

"Oh s$*%! Keep that thing off of us! We are making some progress here!"

Kn Arcana 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (17) + 19 = 36
I figure that is a standard action.

Taking his cue from Gil, Ezreal peers intently at the consoles. He quickly gathers that the forge's power source is buried under the floor of this chamber. There should have been fail-safes to shut it down once the forge was no longer operational, but these seem to have burnt out in whatever calamitous accident hit this facility when the Mourning happened. And there is something - some sort of intelligence - guiding the actions of the forge and the Caretaker which definitely should not be present. What is clear though is that the power to the forge needs to be isolated, and to do that will require the fail-safes to be restored - a case of emergency retro-fitting. He grabs his dagger and with the point begins undoing the screws on the face of the console so he can get at the circuitry underneath.

5' step to N8, full attack on the Caretaker w/blessing of fervor, righteous vigor, Good devotion, and whirling frenzy.

Seeing the Caretaker is no longer under the changeling's spell's effects, the Valenar retaliates in kind, shredding the hulking body of the Caretaker with a relentless flurry of strikes.

#Main-hand 1: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25 to hit, dealing 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 slashing and 1d6 ⇒ 5 cold damage.
#WF: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31 to hit, dealing 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 slashing and 1d6 ⇒ 3 cold damage.
#BoF: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20 to hit, dealing 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 slashing and 1d6 ⇒ 6 cold damage.
#Main-hand 2: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24 to hit, dealing 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14 slashing and 1d6 ⇒ 3 cold damage.
#Off-hand 1: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34 to hit, dealing 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 slashing damage.
#Off-hand 2: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21 to hit, dealing 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 slashing damage.

Each successful hit increases attack bonus by +1 (max +4) and bestows 1d8 temporary hitpoints (max 20).

#Off-hand 1 is a critical threat. 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27 to confirm, dealing 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 additional slashing damage.

Don't forget you already started with a +4 morale bonus from righteous vigor to your attacks after dispatching Ikar. You also had 16 temporary hit points before the Caretaker attacked you. (You had 20 but lost 4 when you vaulted over the railing to land next to LB). You're also on round 4 of 9 on your whirling frenzy.

Also, before we get out of order, lets recap. Janosz joins the group with wand of cure light wounds in hand. Gil recovers after being healed by LB and joins Ez. Rod channels positive energy to heal. Rolund moves to recover sword. Runzyl delays. Bor moves to recover axe. Caretaker attacks Runzyl. Runzyl counterattacks. Ez continues to shut down forge. LB channels energy (he no longer has anymore lay on hands to heal or channel energy).

Creation Forge, then Janosz

After the forge’s turn, this is our order for next round.

Janosz 20 longstrider
Gil 16+ good devotion (5 rounds remaining), blessing of fervor (3 rounds remaining)

Ezreal 8 good devotion (5 rounds remaining), see invisible
LB 3 good devotion (5 rounds remaining), blessing of fervor (3 rounds remaining), bull’s strength
Creation forge 0

Runzyl churns away at the the Caretaker. But the creature's heavy armour is barely scatched. The creation forge swings wildly, trying to catch Runzyl.
Attack on Runzyl: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 v touch AC, damage 2d8 + 15 ⇒ (2, 2) + 15 = 19 and knocked prone on a hit.

Initiative, with Runzyl moved in the order following his delay:
Janosz 20 longstrider

"Runzyl! RUNZYL! You goat-fondling syphilitic moron! Get over here! We'll fight the Caretaker where the forge can't reach us!"

Unsure about what to do now. If Runzyl falls, I might try to run forwards and drag him back towards the rest of the party. I guess I'll delay until Gil's done her turn.

I'm pretty sure that missed Runzyl.

79/79 hp, 0 nonlethal; Effects: ; Perception +16, vs traps +20; Guise: Non-descript male gambler

Gil sighs with gratitude as healing once again eases the burns covering her body, but she continues with her efforts. "The wall of force was genius, my friend. Take a look here and here..."

Perception vs Traps 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33

Knowledge (Arcana) 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27

Use Magic Device 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38

Disable Device 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38 +3 to disable a trap

Wow. Back to back twenties... Hope they were on the right skills.

Gil nods as Ezreal points out the key arcane nodes, but grabs his hand just in time to stop him frying himself on a loose connection. Working back, she re-connects burnt-out systems to a allow the proper commands to be given to the forge. Unfortunately, the only place that can be done from successfully is the most southerly console - beyond the safety of the Wall of Force.

Rod.

Recovering his blade, Rolund joins the Valenar to aid him against the Caretaker.

Shaking his head in annoyance, Janosz moves to join Rolund and Runzyl. "Hey Gil, you might want this."

I'm lobbing my CLW wand over to Gil. I then then move to P6, drawing my bow as i move. My new initiative is 9.

"Glad you could join us, Master Frogshanks. We just need to run a little interference with the Caretaker so the changeling and Farlowe can shut down its creator."

Initiative:
Janosz 20 longstrider

The Caretaker continues its dogged assault on Runzyl, moving slightly closer for a better angle.

Attack 1:1d20 + 23 ⇒ (10) + 23 = 33 to hit, damage 2d8 + 20 ⇒ (5, 2) + 20 = 27
Attack 2:1d20 + 18 ⇒ (18) + 18 = 36 to hit, damage 2d8 + 20 ⇒ (2, 4) + 20 = 26
Attack 3:1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32 to hit, damage 2d8 + 20 ⇒ (6, 6) + 20 = 32
Slam:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27 to hit, damage 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (8) + 15 = 23

Attack 3 is a critical threat:1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26 to hit, extra damage 2d8 + 20 ⇒ (4, 8) + 20 = 32

If any of these take down Runzyl, the Caretaker will attack Rolund. It's attacks on Rolund are at an addition -2 due to partial cover from the Wall of Force.

Your concern is much appreciated - I thought she was done for - but the healers have been channel-bombing my vicinity for the last round or two. I don't have a ton of hp at the best of times, but I'm in good shape for the shape I'm in. ;)

I'm thinking Invisibility Sphere on you and Bor and I stay close. I'm tempted to see what that thing does in a Solid Fog, too, but I haven't read the spell lately, so I don't know if it will have any impact on something that's not changing location (as opposed to not moving, which it is doing a lot of)

Notwithstanding, it's LB, then Runzyl, then the forge.
