I'm....kinda.....caught between contemplating WWLBD (What Would Lightbringer Do) and what does that spoiler for Ezrael say. I kinda don't see him going the long way around all that stuff to attack the creation forge anyway, and don't really relish the thought of him trudging through those metaphysical disco lights to get at is.
| Ezreal Farlowe |
| HPs: 71/71, APs: 10/7 Karnnathi Wizard (Universalist) 11 |
|
Well- he can't see any threat, but we do generally know that our true enemy is a quori of the possessing type. He can see that Ez tried and failed to attack something above Ikar. I don't know that he has any means to see what Ez sees and I don't have the means to help anyone else see more either. Take that for whatever it's worth.

SWIFT ACTION: Lightbringer lays on hands.
3d6
Lightbringer's at 67 hp.
so, he'll channel against evil outsiders.
3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6) = 16
d.c. 17.
And then move to L7, hopefully out of the blast radius of the Creation Forge;

Basher's fists slam again into the side of the creation forge as Lightbringer backs away to repair some damage. Rod blasts at the unseen enemy with the power of the Flame.
There's a roar and a rumble, and the creation forge blasts out another gout of scalding steam.
The room is filled with super-heated steam in a 60' cone. This basically hits everyone except LB, Kadesh, Janosz and Runzyl. 10d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 2, 6, 1, 1, 2, 4, 2) = 25 damage and you are dazed, Reflex DC 20 for half and to negate the daze effect.
| Sir Rolund ir'Kraal |
|
|
Rolund: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24.
Basher: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13.
Bor: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23.
Is it too late to say that Bor and Rolund were taking advantage of the +2 bonus to Ref saves from blessing of fervor? Just noticed that we did not specify what bonus we had picked.
Basher collapses from the blast. Basher at -26 hps without rage. I believe he is destroyed.
"'Forged down!" Rolund yells as he surveys the damage and notices that Bor seems to be on his last leg. Bor at 4 hps.
| Gil |
|
|
Gil should be using the Reflex bonus, as well.
Reflex save 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 = 9
Gil is so intent on the Caretaker's light show that she doesn't even notice the cloud of steam until it's too late. With a barely audible groan, she sinks to the floor as the heat overwhelms her.
Gil is at -9. The Rainbow Pattern will remain for 9 rounds after she stops concentrating on it.
| Ezreal Farlowe |
| HPs: 71/71, APs: 10/7 Karnnathi Wizard (Universalist) 11 |
|
Reflex 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 = 20
I think I'm out of the radius of the magic circle against evil now.
Since the AP spent above on a caster level check ended up being a roll that I never needed to make, bump that down here to pass.
12 damage, reduced by 3 from good devotion to 9 damage
| Janosz Frogshanks |
| Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5 |
|
"This is what happens when you mess with us, you mouthy d#$&~*~." Janosz gives the fallen Ikar a vicious kick, spraying teeth and gore, before sprinting off the platform. He runs around Gil's hypnotic spell, looking for waek spots in the forge's metal plating.
Triple move to I19, running along the east wall.
Fourgri, if he's still around.
| Sir Rolund ir'Kraal |
|
|
The good devotion feat only provides a damage reduction effect (DR 3/evil). Damage reduction only provides defense against physical attacks not energy attacks. That's the province of energy resistance/immunity.
Regardless, even if the good devotion feat provided defense against the steam blast, it can be overcome with an "evil" attack. And since Aubrey stated that the steam blast was evil...

Gil, and for others affected: a character dies at minus-CON hit points - in Gil's case, -14. However, remember the house rule that if you spend half your opening number of action points for that level (assuming you still have them) on death, you in fact stabilise at -1. Looks like that rule might potentially come in handy.
Ez:
Fourgri's gone.
Gil's stabilisation roll, then Rod.
| Ezreal Farlowe |
| HPs: 71/71, APs: 10/7 Karnnathi Wizard (Universalist) 11 |

Ezreal narrows his eyes and looks around then calls out, "It's gone. Shifted back home" then taking stock of the situation shouts, "GIL IS DOWN! We have to get her out of here before that thing vents steam again!"
I'd scoop her up and fly, but I'd just be taking her away from any healing. She needs that first.
If someone else gets her first I'm going to work out that control panel for the forge.
Gil- you can spend *1* action point to automatically stabilize.
You would spend 5 if you had actually died and then you would land on -1 hp instead of dying.
| Sir Rolund ir'Kraal |
|
|
Rolund finally notices that the changeling is on the ground and unresponsive. “Purified, tend to her wounds,” he barks, only to realize that the priest had not recovered from the blast.
“Dammit,” Rolund groans as he charges his injured body across the room and presses his free hand upon her.
Move action: Move to T12 with blessing of fervor.
Standard action: Lay on hands 2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5.
Runzyl

OK, one point spent to stabilize and Rolund's action brings her to -7.

I think this is good; if it's allright with everybody I'd like to "keep my finger on the chesspiece" since I'm not feeling really confident about my move just now.
Runzyl runs to I 18, so's he can five foot step next round and mess up the forge.
good? bad? ugly?
THEN,......If Bor picks up Rodergo,....how far directly south can he hustle? That's what I'm thinking he'll do, if such a thing is possible; don't know what to roll here.
| Sir Rolund ir'Kraal |
|
|
I’m more inclined for Runzyl to do the following…(seems more Eberron-like).
“Nuvendi lida!” Runzyl shouts when he hears the quori has fled. Still in the group of righteous fury, he vaults over the railing to land besides Lightbringer, Falla Caesenri prepared to deliver more damage.
Elvish translation:
Free action: Whirling frenzy 3 of 9 rounds.
Move action: Jump to M7, 20 ft. fall. Acrobatics (reduce falling damage): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19. Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4.
Swift action: stand up from prone with blessing of fervor.
Standard action: Total defense. AC 32.
Bor - no idea for what actions to take but I'm curious as to what Heathy's plan is.

I was just trying to spread us out so as fewer of us were in a steam cone; I figured that having Runzyl/Janosz....roughly 180 degrees from the others.....might get the really wounded amongst us a round to get our crap together; I also can't possibly see Bor getting far enough down that corridor to get me out of another blast, so I figured I'd spread us all out some more. AND,....if the thing for some reason CAN'T steam those two over there, well.....that'd be a really spiffy thing to find its blindspot.
ALSO,...kinda scared that Runzy and Bor might be kinda susceptible to the quori's mind control, so wanted to make him have to work for it.
I agree, it's not much.
| Sir Rolund ir'Kraal |
|
|
Well, let’s see…
Bor has a Str of 22. His max carrying capacity is 520 lbs. x2 (Large size) = 1,040 lbs.
He is currently carrying about 148 lbs. in equipment. That is more than enough cushion for Bor to carry Rodergo although it will probably be a heavy load in total.
So…
“We need you alive to use your healing talents, priest.” Bor says as he drops his greataxe and picks up Rodergo to carry him to safety.
Free action: drop +1 greataxe.
Standard action: pick up Rodergo.
Move action: move to T-U/14-15 with blessing of fervor’s enhanced movement.
The Caretaker, then Ezreal
| Ezreal Farlowe |
| HPs: 71/71, APs: 10/7 Karnnathi Wizard (Universalist) 11 |

Ezreal conjures up a protective barrier between the creation forge and the bank of instruments that were meant to control it at some time and points toward the hallway shouting, "The steam is partially blocked. You are safer on the other side of these controls!" So saying he glides in settling just in front of the control panels.
Force Wall- diagonally between the creation forge and the majority of the control panel, height of 20 ft.
From top right corner of the caretaker to the intersection of P/Q 17/18.
Fly to P14 and start taking a look at the control panels.
Kn Arcana 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23 +4 = 27
I'll spend an action point on that. 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
| Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
|
|
The shimmering wall of force springs up, sheltering the majority of the party from the steam explosions.
Ezreal can see the consoles clearly control the creation forge, and it should be possible to shut it down from these. However, they have likely suffered damage and may have cut-offs and booby-traps. However, at the least Ezreal reckons he can see in theory how to initiate the shut-down sequence, beginning at the console at which he is standing. He might need someone with Gil's expertise with traps to ensure he doesn't get killed in the process.
No sign of Mothy, someone take his turn.

LB: movement increased by 30 feet from blessing of fervor,
he can get to T11, using exactly 50 feet of movement.
He then lays on hands for Gil,
3d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2) = 9
which gets her to 2 hp; I see that she is at -7 up above.
"Gil;" he says calmly, "Ez put a shield up between the steam blast and the control panel. If you can help him,......maybe it can be shut down,....."
| Janosz Frogshanks |
| Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5 |
|
Before Gil goes...
Seeing what Ezreal is up to, Janosz abandons his plans of hacking the forge to pieces. Instead he sprints over to the main party. "Anything I can help with?", he pans, digging his Wand of cure light woynds out of his magical quiver.
Double move to T11.
| Gil |
|
|
Gil awakens with a start, "Agh!!"
It takes her a moment to realize what Ezreal said, roll to her feet, and with the aid of Lightbringer's adamantine shoulder, catch her balance and head over to the wizard. When she gets there, "Let's see. Have you changed anything yet?"
Perception vs Traps 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36
Knowledge (Arcana) 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28 aid another for Ez
Use Magic Device 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (19) + 18 = 37
Disable Device 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32 +3 to disable a trap
Wow - I don't think I've rolled more than one two-digit number in two weeks. Nice time for them to come out...
| Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
|
|
The forge continues the thrash, but the blows bounce off the invisible wall conjured by Ezreal. Gil staggers over to the nearest console and peers at the panel. Despite her unfamiliarity with the system, she quickly twigs the key systems. She isolates a circuit that would have routed the forge's power through the console operator - with likely fatal results - and begins the initial shut-down sequence. But as she begins to fiddle with the controls, the Caretaker suddenly begins to take an interest in what is going on, no longer distracted by the glowing patterns of light.
You have begun, but completed, shutting down the creation forge.
Rod.
