Hopefully you are enjoying, rather than enduring, it... I've gone back from time to time and read sections and found it fairly enjoyable, but of course I played it. I've never been too sure how it reads cold.

Rather than going on via PM, the changes look fine so I've no issue with the character you propose.

M Human

cool. there are definitely some cool moments going on. its nice to see an eberron game actually use the flavors that the houses provide, the previous games i have been in havent really done that outside of PCs doing most of their shopping at house cannith

Cheliax

Wintergreen's CE PA IT Geek 10/Daddy 6/Physicist 3/Cartographer 1/Runner 1

I think actually, reading t in a block is, if anything, better than following. You miss a lot of flow if you keep up toooo well.

You lot are certainly weaving a wonderful story though. I have *no* idea who plays who, because the characters are so front and centre, it's great.

M Human

ah yes, this fight at the Mabar manifestation zone is quite a page-turner! DM Aubrey really knows how to put an epic fight together. and it is impressive how far back the seeds of this battle were planted as well

Actually I was worried I'd overdone it and was going to have a TPK on my hands, but it all turned out OK in the end.

M Human

yeah i think the ability to spend half your AP to stabilize at -9 helped there. strikes a good balance between being an insurance plan without making it too easy to live. one of my previous DMs made it nearly impossible to die, and it got pretty boring.

in other news, what does the party feel they are lacking that a new character could bring to the table? from what i hear it might be melee damage? i had a character idea (one of many) and it could deal some ok damage (more dex than STR though) but it couldnt really handle taking the damage i dont think, so i am leaning towards a different idea

m ROD! CLERIC 6 EXORCIST SLVR FLAME 5exp =116,385(cast as a 9th level cleric)

Melee would be nice I reckon......

M Human

I am thinking of a psychic warrior, not sure if I want to I kalashtar or warforged, and also I was wondering if the DM would allow half-giant (primarily nomadic tribes exist on Sarlona, info found in Secrets of Sarlona)

M Human

also, i have read up to the part where the party reaches the Thrane border. i was told that after that might be some potential spoilers so i wont read further. I will start to update Bor now.

With the loss of Lightbringer, I guess what we really lack is a "heavy hitter" in melee.

Rolund has the sword & shield covered for defensive fighting and Runzyl has the high-Dex "mobility fighter" role pretty well covered. Lightbringer was the guy we could count on to hammer out a 30+ damage power attack on a consistent basis and bypass DR through sheer brutality (not to mention smite...). DR pretty effectively shuts Runzyl down due to his style of build (unless I can bypass it somehow) and having someone who can ignore/overpower it would be an asset.

Speaking of DR, Janosz should consider Clustered Shots. DR is actually starting to be a pretty persistent issue for us at this point.

M Human

hmm 30 dmg sounds like a lot to pull in a melee character. hopefully the DM will allow me to play a half-giant.

Well, remember that we're level 10. 30 damage shouldn't be difficult for a two-handed weapon using martial character.

+2 greataxe, 20 STR, Power Attack, +10 BAB, Vital Strike.

2d12 + 18 base damage. More for Weapon Training, Specialization, etc. if you're a fighter. 30 isn't that high at this level. :)

M Human

2d12?

NOW IN TECHNICOLOR!

It's what a katana should do....

M Human

also im going for something a little more than a fighter. a fighter with some tricks up his sleeves, i suppose. im almost positive that i want to be a psychic warrior, but im not sure if i want to play a warforged, a kalashtar, or a half-giant. they all have very interesting roleplaying applications

M Human

also while you all are on this instant, how do i make an alias to post in? this is the first game on this board i have played in

Go to My Account up at the top of the screen and you should see a "Messageboard Aliases" section. Create one there.

I don't know how psychic warrior will translate to PF (since there's no official psionics rules), but with all the various weapon buffs available, damage bonuses should be even easier.

I think maybe the easiest way to do a psionic warrior would be to make a magus and just SAY it's psionic instead of magic. That's Aubrey's call, though.

M Human

there is a 3rd party update to psionics that i discussed with him. it is called Psionics Unleashed. i bought it from this website back in January: http://paizo.com/products/btpy8i42?Psionics-Unleashed

M Human

Magus is waaaaaaay different than psychic warrior. although it gets way more spells than psychic warrior gets powers, psychic warrior has full BAB and can wear heavy armor from the get-go. it is much more of a warrior, and less spellcasty, than Magus.

Also, thanks for the instructions on the alias thing. i had searched everywhere but there :D

M Human

how does one do rolls on here? i noticed they are formatted differently than the other text.

also, how do i do spoilers, and how do i do the blue OOC text?

NOW IN TECHNICOLOR!

you just go [dice]1d20[dice]
except draw a "/" in front of the second word dice, and it will roll whatever die you put in parentheses there.

You can do multiples i.e. 5d20, or even weird stuff like 1d69.

NOW IN TECHNICOLOR!

1d20 ⇒ 2

M Human

test 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29

EDIT: sweet, thanks.

Grand Lodge

I don't know about the half-giant, but from a story perspective a kalashtar would be a nice fit about now.

Grand Lodge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Also it is one aspect of the Eberron world that we have only touched on through npcs. I wouldn't mind seeing a full psychic kalashtar in action.

M Human

yeah i think half giant is probably bottom of the list. Kalashtar, or perhaps a Project Prosper Warforged.

Half Giant would have been nice for having bigger weapons, as well as the ramifications of being giant-blooded if we ever went to Xen'drik.

Kalashtar would be nice too, they have a bonus to power points, and tie into the story.

Warforged would be cool as well. Although, i dont particularly want to roleplay being so young in the world.

Cheliax RPG Superstar 2013 Top 32

I'll second the notion that a kalashtar would be awesome.

M Human

alright Kalashtar it is, by popular demand. wont really be FULL psychic since psychic warriors only get one power known per level, and very few power points with which to manifest them. but he should be able to dish out the melee damage, and have a few "oh crap" cards to pull out.

Qadira

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

Cool. Half-giant would be out, really. I know they have them in Sarlona, but it's a bit of an afterthough/shoe-horn in the race to Eberron sort of thing, and I'd be agin it. Kalashtar psychic warrior sounds fine, and it'll be the easiest to integrate, frankly.

M Human

ok i will go with that. Will my character be able to access the War Mind prestige class? He would meet the prerequisites mechanically, but it has a special restriction: Must have had some instruction by another war mind, have access to the Codex of War, or belong to an organization that has access to the Codex of War.

Spoiler:
Furthermore, "Fluff": War minds are almost unequalled experts of an incredibly
powerful combat technique that melds the
body and mind into one perfect warrior. They achieve
this through studying ancient techniques known as the
chains of war. Some study under the guidance of a single
war mind, often in the role of apprentice and master;
some choose to find this path through meditation
and intense studies of the Codex of War, an ancient but
well-respected tome that teaches the necessary mindset
and training to awaken the chains of war in a psionically
talented warrior.
Psychic warriors and soulknives are the most
common to study the Codex of War and become war
minds, although any character with psionic power can
become a war mind.

Bor is updated (super easy to go from Fighter 1 to Fighter 2 hahaha) except for his gear. how much more should he spend to catch him up to a 5th level PC?

Qadira

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

Fast progression PC, but you need to take account of what he's got already. The war mind - where is it sourced, EPH? The restriction isn't an issue.

M Human

I need to reread the entries for Kalashtar in the Races of Eberron to make sure everything sits right, but my initial character concept is a warrior of mind and body who has trained since boyhood to combat quori and their pawns.

M Human

yes, it is from EPH. the name of the tome mentioned in the flavor text was changed since it was updated to PF rules by a third party, but a cursory glance looks as if all the abilities are the same in the PF version.

where is fast progression PC loot located? DMG?

M Human

1d10 ⇒ 10 Bor's level-up HP

RETIRED Male Minotaur Fighter 3

Bor's sheet is updated and submitted for DM review.

Grand Lodge

I'll be glad to see Bor get a little fleshing out even if it is only temporary. Of all the npcs we've traveled with he kinda got the short stick compared to Gnarly, Choom, or the Alphabet Brothers. I think he appeared at a time when we were all busy and slowing down a little over here and he just never had much spotlight. Have fun with him :)

M Human

yeah, from what little i read of him in story he seems like a good character. i had to give him a cloak though, what prince wouldnt wear a cloak? hahaha. maybe when/if there is a reason/time to go to Xen'drik, his backstory could be explored a bit more.

Qadira

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

He looks fine to me. GG is normally good are poing over a character sheet.

M Human

also, as i stopped reading when you all got to Thrane, could someone update me with what happened specifically with respect to Bor? is he closer to any of the party members than the others, did he ever get a chance to go back and get his ancestral axe, etc? Did he reveal any of his past?

Qadira

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

You can read that bit, just not the spoilers. But basically, yes, he's got his axe, he's not especially friendly to anyone in particular, and no he hasn't talked about himself. Ithers is right in that he's been a bit of a cypher - big guy with axe, and not much else. So you can do what you want, more or less.

He will do, for a 9th level character like the rest.

Hit points are off. You rolled a 10 but forgot to add his Con modifier. He should have 71 hit points.

To hit with greataxe is off. You forgot to take into account your Large size. Subtract 1 to hits. It should be +15/+10.

Also, not seeing favored class bonus. Did he choose a +1 to hit points or to skill points?

RETIRED Male Minotaur Fighter 3

Ah you are right on all counts

RETIRED Male Minotaur Fighter 3

updated with the changes. gave him a skill point for favored class, since he will need better diplomacy if he's ever going back to his kingdom.

Male Kalashtar Psychic Warrior 6 / War Mind 5

just doing some rolls for my upcoming character (this is Tenro)

Spoiler:

4d8 + 5d10 + 8 + 20 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 2) + (3, 1, 10, 10, 1) + 8 + 20 = 68 = HP (excluding modifying tolls under 1/2 and items)

Hey, you are talking about GG. He is THE wizard of proofing character builds...

Question his analysis at your character's peril. You've been warned. ;-)
