Gurukk Pyreborn |
Gurukk takes the wand then starts casting a small fire spell followed with prestidigitation. He then sniffs the wand, then his finger, and shrugs and sticks in in his belt.
Gurukk Pyreborn |
Elbowing their resident conduit of the fire god, Thedrin asks "Does it look safe? My peepers aren't made for looking into dark places"
Gurukk moves ahead of everyone else peering down the hallway, moving slowly, axe out just in case

And Gurukk has no idea what is even in this tunnel as he looks up to explain the water and a drop hits him in the eye!
....perhaps an attack from the water god? ;)

"We have a problem, the water god's domain is in front of us and is angry at Gurukk and you for intruding. I intend to move forward, but the end may be nigh."

Gurukk choose furthest. You know how it works out when he chooses ;)
Sir Respen Bayleef |
Following Gurukk through the water god territory, the mischievous inquisitor comes up with an idea to help ease his orc friends mind. He whispers as the creep through the hallway, ”My dear fire using friend, I have a little trick up my sleeve to help hide you from the water god. This ward hurts for moment but lasts a whole day and hides your power from the water god’s minions. So it is your choice if you want it or not?“
Take 1 point of damage.
And if needed another Bluff check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Gurukk Pyreborn |
Gurukk seems appreciative of the offer.
"Gurukk would disappoint the Fire God by hiding from the minions of the water god. Gurukk's concern is for all of you who are guilty in the water god's mind only because you travel with Gurukk."
KenderKin |
Opening the furthest door!
Four goblins sort twigs and root piles on the floor of this sagging chamber.
The collapsed southern wall opens on a vast cavern. Pustules of luminescent fungus on the rough walls and high roof loom over a twilight grove of sickly briars, bushes, saplings, and other woody plants. Ruined walls and hollow towers protrude from the briars like islands in the sea.
One yells in goblin

The Gulthias tree
A courtyard wall of heavy stones creates a half-walled clearing among the briars. The courtyards wall only stand 20 feet high with the ceiling and stalactites above 50 feet overhead. Several varieties of plants grow around the perimeter, including a few suspicious-looking saplings, but their importance pales before that which stands at the courtyards center. Beneath the venoumous fungal light grows a singular tree of evil. It’s blackened, twisted limbs reach upward, like a skeletal hand clawing it’s way from the earth. Human figures stand near the tree: a woman and two men. A three-foot-long tree frog squats next to one of the men.
One man wears scalemail and a woman in a half-robe and leggings stand strangely still

”Hold your actions a moment, you know not what you do!”
Gurukk appears to get mad at this statement, [b]"Are you saying Gurukk, favored servant of the Fire God, does not know how to burn things? How dare you!"[b]
KenderKin |
"Nay you I am certain know how to burn things."
”I am Belak, called the Outcast. The druidic society expelled me, the fools. And Why? Because I dared to expand nature’s reach in ways their puny minds couldn’t grasp. I don’t care. I have found what I long sought, embodied in the Gulthias Tree.”

Gurukk taps his foot impatiently, "And that would be?"
Xane |
Xane listens to the fellow the group has come across...
And tilts her head as his words rattle around in her mind.
"Um...so let me get this straight...Druids are into Nature and the Wilds and stuff...right?" She looks at her friends as well as this 'Beltak' as she speaks,
"So...if you're all 'Expunged' and stuff...does that make you all 'Un-natural'...?" She scratches her head, still not sure about what Beltak is on about.
And I think I'm back with the interwebz! :D
Sir Respen Bayleef |
Waiting after he replies to Xane, he asks the Druid "So Mr. Outcast is it, My name is Sir Respen Bayleef and I was wondering who are your friends over there?" He points to the bark covered bodies next to him.

The Gulthias tree
”It’s beautiful, no? It lives, though it looks dead. In an age long past, someone staked a vampire to the earth on this very spot. The wooden stake was yet green and took root. And so grew the Gulthias Tree, reverberating with dark primal power to those who can tap it.”
He then points to the man and woman.
”They were the first two supplicants. The Gulthias Tree has accepted them and they are mine to control, just like the twig blights. You can’t save them.”
Xane |
"Um...so...this tree is kind'a unique then?" Xane scratches her head, still seeming nonplussed as to what exactly is going on with this fellow and his horticulture.
"But the whole 'Turning people into minions' thing? Yah, that's a paddlin'" She says with assurance growing in her voice, even as she adjusts her grip upon her trusty falcata. She grins,
"We may not be able to save them from...tree-dom..." She stumbles as she thinks over the two people's state, "But we can save them from servitude and give them back freedom!" She grins, happy at her rhyme and reasoning. (^_^)
