Being unconscious and slowly bleeding to death, Blast is unable to thrill his friends with his usual witty repartee. However, he is able to lie there quite effectively, and is surprisingly capable of refraining from giving the men a lashing, either verbal or physical, for attacking him and going through his pockets.

Anyway, he's gonna try and stabilize.

The elven woman growls at you and ignores Akari's taunt, then calls to her two snoozing companions "Oi! Get up you sonsofb$$#%es! Help me skewer these demon-lovers then we can finish off the redskin!"

The two don't respond, causing her to curse and step away from the downed Blast, striking at the kidneys of the one who swung at her with a sword.

Bob's really gotta work on his play titles, Mellany thinks. Well, let's see about hamming up the title character's recovery.

"Noooooo!" Mellany yells as she runs to Blasts's side. "How could they?" Falling to her knees, Mellany embraces the unconscious tiefling and sobs theatrically. Then she turns her back to the "audience" and places her hand on Blast's wound to channel healing energy.

Blast blinks his way back to consciousness to see Alian standing over him. "What...?" Blast murmurs, unable to finish his question. The pain of his wounds burns like fire in his body, and the dagger wound feels like... Well, like somebody yanked it out, Blast thinks, noticing Akari.

He glances around at the battle, about to push himself to his feet. Two attackers are down, his companions have the last one--a woman?-- on the ropes, and Taurven seems to be singing again. As heartening as the man's voice is, Blast's pain was still overwhelming, and he doubts he could even lift the stupid sword on his belt, let alone throw it.

Then Mellany flings herself down next to him and grabs his body, shouting and crying hysterically. Then she places a hand on his sword wound, and the tiefling feels warmth and comfort flowing from her into him.

Confused but feeling better, Blast sits up, smiling at Mellany, his head cocked to one side. As he shifts his head, though, he catches the audience off to the side and Bob's theatrics, and starts to understand what's going on. "My lady!" Blast cries, equally theatrically, and subtly stomps the end of his tail, bringing tears to his eyes. "You... The power of your love has saved me!"

Satisfied that the peasants are enthralled in the show, the tiefling pulls Mellany close and whispers, "Quid ingressus in? Non enim quod diu..."

Draconic:
What's going on? I wasn't out for that long...

"My darling!" Mellany gives Blast a quick kiss to keep from laughing out loud at her overacting. She hugs him and whispers in his ear, "Cauda aucupes. Ut hinc nobis. Hoc saltim non felicem exitum."

Mellany releases Blast from her embrace and looks up and down the street. "My father's men approach! We must flee before they find us." She grabs Blast's hand, helps him to his feet, and starts walking quickly down the street.

Draconic:
Tail takers. We have to get out of here. The locals will not consider this a happy ending.

Singing with the force of personality it takes to heighten his companion's spirits, takes a great deal of energy out of Taurven. The moment he sees the last bandit go down he releases the power. He continues singing though.

By the power of love. Love, love. The Tiefling falls.
Like a broken dove. Dove, dove. The Tiefling Falls.

With a spin timed to his own song, Taurven moves close to Bob.
Grab and run, eh? Then again in his singing voice. The Tiefling falls and all goes well.
The Tiefling falls. Straight down to hell.

Taurven keeps his eye on the crowd, ready to run if their mood turns ugly.

The crowd shifts around uneasily, but, clapping, they are eventually satisfied by Akari's words and disperse into various directions. Bob reappears, a wide smile on his face as he walks over to Akari and helps her drag the sleeping and unconscious thugs into the alleyway. "You fellows are brilliant!" he beams up at Akari. "Best distractions i've ever found!"

Blast:
Still moving away, you are able to hear some calls from the dispersing crowds; something along the lines of "Hey, someone picked my pocket!"

Akari:
Sorry, are you searching for Bob or are you searching the bodies? And if the latter, make two more rolls.

Once she and Blast are clear of the crowd, Mellany looks for an alley to duck into. She stops in the alley and looks across the street to see how the rest of their friends are doing. She starts laughing and says, "Shelyn be praised. The crowd's breaking up and the others are safe. The b&*%! with the sword hurt Aleks and Pyrrius badly. We should go back and help."

Pyrrius drags the woman's body deeper into the alley before moving to do the same with the others.

"Not sure what a 'Tail Taker' is, but they do seem a little annoying. At least we have three sets of relatively fresh clothes and a few more weapons. Assuming whoever wears this," he says indicating the elf with the wound in her belly, "doesn't mind an exposed midriff."

Bob pauses for a moment and thinks for a second. "'Tail Taker', eh? I've heard about a street gang with that name... Haven't run into them yet, but I would guess it's not rats they're after."

"Agreed," Blast whispers back to Mellany. He starts to head back warily, but pauses to look Mellany in the eye. He puts out a hand, bowing his head.

"Thank you, Mellany. You may well have saved my life back there, you and Alian. I owe each breath I take from here on to you."

After that, he begins subtly making his way back to the alley. As he walks he tries to look inconspicuous, and if anyone comes his way, he says, "What? The tiefling? Oh, I'm not him; not a real one. Just an actor in a play! You think I'd risk walking around if I were one of those creatures?"

"I... I don't think so," Mellany says hesitantly. "At least that spell hasn't killed before. They should wake up soon." With that revelation, she takes some of the rope they were carrying and starts tying up Blast's assailants. "Someone want to give me a hand with this? I don't think our little play needs an encore."

Akari:
You discover nothing further about the key. All you can say is that it does not seem to fit into an especially complex lock.

You try to talk to some of the townspeople about the attackers. You are hindered by the fact that most of them were in the crowd and hence you have to conceal that they were not part of the 'play'. However, you are able to find out enough to learn that the three had been seen in several of the seedier pubs and alleys. You also find out that in more recent times they have tended to go out in the public streets more, and you hear some rumours that it is because they have joined some sort of gang.

"Yes, an encore could be... unpleasant," Blast replies to Mellany, having noticed the wince on her face at the blood. He also nods to Akari, and whispers back,

Akari:
"Yes, well, without your contributions, I'd most likely be replacing that woman back there."

Blast notices some of the things the assailants have on them. "If no one else wants those," Blast says as he points to the acid flasks, "I'd like them. They'll serve me better than this sword, if anyone wants it."

With that, Blast moves to help Mellany tie up the sleeping men.

However, you notice that the woman with the claw wound is dying.

Mellany stares wide eyed at the elf woman. "Rydych yn gryfach nag yr oeddwn yn meddwl, cynffon heliwr," Mellany says going to the woman's side. The witch starts examining the elf's wounds. "I can keep her life blood from oozing out, but that's little better than a death sentence in this alley. There's no beauty in that. Sorry, everyone." ”May the fates align in our favor.” Aromar whispers under his breath, pausing at the realization he is now bound to them since taking the oath, their lot is now his. Its an uncomfortable feeling, like being naked, to one so used to operating in the shadows.

’At last,' he thinks to himself, 'a chance at a fair fight.’ He swiftly moves over to the downed elves, looting apparently second nature to him, and grabs one of the backpacks, filling it with the set of thieves tools, the 50’ of silk rope and one of the grappling hooks. He then comfortably lays one of the short bows in his hands, appraising its strength, and slips one of the quivers of 20 arrows over his back.

Still crouched over the equipment, he looks back the group, ”I think I can make the best use of these, I’ve had plenty of practice working locks and traps. I prefer a bow in combat but wouldn’t mind a blade as a backup if one’s left over. As for armor – the leather would suit me fine but perhaps one of those on the front lines might make better use of it until better becomes available.”

”As for these thugs, this was an attack of opportunity, so if there’s no one left to report back to their gang we’ll probably be ok. But if they make it back will surely have a price on our heads from yet another group in town.'

"You have better eyes than me, Alian," Mellany says. "I can't tell who is or isn't past saving. Part of me wants to bury these creeps up to their nostrils in the Oaken Plaza dung pile for what they did to Blast. But that's the foulness of growing up in this empire getting the better of me.
