Round 4
Cormick taps the lizard next to him and commands the creature again.
"I Lawr!"
Handle Animals: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Then steps closer to Aerin to cast a spell.
Move: Handle Animal; 5' step to H14; Standard: Cast CLW
CLW: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Through the message spell, he whispers, "Two of the lizards should stay out of the fight now, if we can kill the drow giving commands."

Yes
A flash of blinding light illuminates the cave for a brief second as a bolt of lightning flies from Cindy's fingertips, striking both remaining drow.
Ref saves d20 + mods = 17, 12
Smoke trails off the wizards dark clothing as he falls over dead. The archers muscles spasm, but he remains standing. Pretty sure he is still alive, but I won't be certain till I get back to my notes/map at home.
Cindy Lu |
I do not react well to being shot. Cindy says to the archer. Your companions are down and will soon be dead if no aid is rendered. If you surrender now I will not kill you this day, and will do what I can to save your friends.
Issa Al'Sadri |
Having used one of his most powerful ability, Issa decided to do less this time.
He went for full defense +4 AC
I'm confident of your ability to end this fight quickly !
Cindy Lu |
Aerin, will you secure the prisoner? As soon as the archer is disarmed and secured Cindy, true to her word moves to try to stabilize the drow fighter and cleric.
Stablaize Fighter: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Stablaize Cleric: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
GM Ascension |
Cindy is able to stabilize both unconscious drow, binding their wounds.
Searching the captive and the dead wizard uncovers several items of magical nature.
The drow archer, tied up, watches with detached interest as these items are collected.
3 potions of cure moderate wounds.
A wand of invisibility, 18 charges remaining.

Cormick Egerton |
Cormick looks over the book briefly to determine it's content.
spellcraft to dechiper book: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
But a rope trick spell only lasts a few hours. If I were to phathom a guess, by the contents of this book, the wizard was of atleast the 5th or 6th degree. So if they used the space as place to rest, if may only last a hour or two more. We will need to be quick in our exploration.
Cormick moves to each of his companions and starts using the wand of healing to begin thier healing process.
Aerin:
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 {2}

"Do we want to use these lizards to explore?"
Was there any type of food for the lizards, or indication of what they eat?
Cindy Lu |
Cindy talks the drow archer. I am pleased to see you are an intelligent drow. Because of your action two of your group live. And as promised I have saved your companions. But now I must ask you some questions. I would rather not result to threats as you know we are in the position of power. I will start with simple questions that I do not think will make you feel like you are betraying any trust. Some of these questions we can answer for ourselves with quick exploration. But I will ask you first in hopes you will not lie to me.
Cindy will ask the following questions waiting for an answer from each before proceeding>
Where to these passages lead?
What dangers lie along each?
Where is the remaining prisoner?
Why were you staking the prisoner out like you did?
Why were you killing one each night?
Was there any reason to kill them like you did?
Issa Al'Sadri |
Issa looked at the drow, expecting him to lie.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
He tried to catch them in his answer to Cindy's questions.
Aerin Starsong |
the deal is simple drow she says with spite at the mention of the dar elves. answer the questions truthfully and without leaving any thing and and you get to live as PoW. Don't and then ... Well i am sure you can figure it out on you're own.
intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
aerin isn't bluffing her threat to her they deserve to die right here.
Hezrog Occorum |
Hezrog takes off his shields, pulls out his taskmaster's whip, and after saying, let me know if they are uncooperative , he quietly leans against the wall and watches the interrogation.
Intimidate (assist)
bluff: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29+2 studied target
Cormick Egerton |
spoken in elven
"Look drow, I am not here to do you harm, that is what the lizards and others are for. I only let them know when you lie to us. So answer the questions and you may live through this exchange. Lie to me once and I let them know, lie to me twice, and you wont walk out of this cavern."
Bluff (Intimidate): 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (17) + 23 = 40
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
GM Ascension |
Aerin can attest that the cave lizards are carnivorous creatures. Hunters and ambushers. There is no raw meat found among the drows packs, indicating that they must be taking time to allow the lizards to hunt.
The drow gives Aerin a look of hatred as she threatens him, but cows before Cormick.
The drow speaks in elvish, "Mae'r darn de yn arwain at y tywyllwch dan. Mae'r gogledd yn diwedd marw. Yr un canol nad oeddem yn ei wneud eto archwilio, ond mae'n daith hir ac yn troelli. Gwelsom nifer o bysgotwyr ogof y ffordd honno, efallai y bydd mwy, ymhellach ar hyd, neu thrigolion eraill."
"Nid oes gennym unrhyw garcharorion. Un o'r bobl druenus ffoi."
In response to the last three questions he answers, "Mae'r offeiriades gorchmynion, ac yr ydym yn ufuddhau."
"We have no prisoners. One of the pitiful humans fled."
"The priestess commands, and we obey."
To the last questions you've no doubt the drow has no regrets pinning the murders on the priestess, but that likewise he would have enjoyed the torture of the humans whether he was commanded to do so or not.
Unable to understand his words, you are unable to determine if the drow is telling truth or lies.
Cindy Lu |
This human, how long ago did he flee? And did he fled into the middle passage or did he escape to the outside? And why was one prisoner pinned to the ground outside?
After these questions are answered Cindy will ask more about why the drow have come to the surface. How many league have you traveled from your base camp in the under dark and what city to you call home? What is your purpose here? Who do you ally with and why? Answer these questions true and complete and you may as questions of me.
Cormick Egerton |
Cormick continues with additional questions, pausing for the drows repsonse before translating to the rest.
"A oes mwy drow ger yr wyneb a pha mor bell i ffwrdd yn cael eu maent gwersyllu? A beth yw eu rhifau?"
"Yr ydym wedi clywed si o fyddin goresgynnol, a ydych yn rhan o'r heddlu?"
"Pa mor bell yw hi i y tywyllwch o dan?"
We have heard rumor of an invading army, are you part of that force?
How far is it to the underdark?
GM Ascension |
Still speaking in elvish the drow responds to the additional questions, "The other human fled up the passage back there two days back." He motions towards the direction you came from. "He lept across a chasm and we did not give chase."
He repeats his reason from regarding the torture, "The priestess commanded it."
"We ally with none, but all will serve the drow. Our armies march even now towards you and will sweep you away" he attempts to appear meek, but a bit of a sneer comes through. "We were sent to find a way through, and have done so. Thirty leagues we travelled and 2000 drow will arrive here within a day."
Again only partial truths in his last statements.
He has understated the distance and time, and overstated the numbers of drow.
Cormick Egerton |
Once more Cormick translates both his own questions and the drow's responses, before he continues.
Looking at Cindy Lu and concealing his mouth he whispers, "Can you summon creatures of the earth to go down the southern passage a mile of so and start collapsing the passage?
"While he has not outright lied to us, he has exaggerated his answers and sprinkeled some with half truths."
Aerin Starsong |
i know that cormick i am just tryine to:
1) confirm that is it the passage to the underdark and not just the way they came from after exploring this cave looking for the escaped human guard
2) get more details on the layout of that passage (if it is the one to the underdark) before hand
Cormick Egerton |
"Pam wnaethoch chi ddod mor agos i'r wyneb ar gyfer eich gwersyll? Allech chi beidio dod o hyd i ogof cyn yr un yma? Cormick continues to question the drow.
Aerin Starsong |
I guess the will be debrief further when we hand them over to Aketl's armed forces. she looks at all of the dark elves
we knock them out now, bring them back to the base camp and returning either today or tomorrow here to do what needs to be done ?

Any reply to these questions?

Aerin Starsong |
Here is what we can do. Ill break off in search for the missing guy. In the meantime you head back to the guy we saved. Issa can attach a message to his flying friend for the commander telling him to come and get the prisonner. We rest for the night and come morning we come back here and do what needs to be done she propose
Cindy Lu |
What needs to be done? Didn't you hear? There is an army coming. Are you proposing we take on an army of Drow? I think we go and try to find the runner and then we all get out and well away from this place.
Aerin Starsong |
I heard Cindy but i want to see if i can do something about it like collapsing the cave at its narrow point. There is not need to all go. I will take on that risk. Head out meet with the man we rescued i can find in a very short amount of time that runner
Cormick Egerton |
Cormick conceals his mouth and whispers, "Cindy, can you summon creatures of the earth to go back down the southern tunnel and collapse it? Is there a reason we need to leave the tunnel to the Underdark open?"
GM Ascension |
Aerin heads into the southern passage to begin exploring. She soon finds a hole heading deeper into the earth. She is able to descend only 20' before the climb becomes to treacherous for her to safely navigate.
She'll need a rope, though there is nothing up top to tie it to, or risk failing a climb check as it is to difficult for her to take 10.
Cindy Lu |
Cindy finely nods her consent to Aerin's plan. Find that scout Aerin. I really do not want to leave him behind. And find us a way to block that passage, even for a day. We need to buy some time.
GM Ascension |
Going back to the first branch in the passage Aerin follows the cave from which the breeze blows in. Some distance from the branch a shaft of sunlight streams in from a side tunnel that slopes upward.
Following that passage leads to a ledge. A deep chasm sits between the ledge and another cliff face 10' away. The ledge runs east for about 15' before ending, dropping into the chasm. Loose dirt on the ledge holds part of a single humanoid footprint near the edge, facing towards the opposite cliff.
I'll try and post multiple times over the next couple of days to take care of the search and rescue - unless the other party members have anything they want to take care of while Aerin is searching.
