Zone |
What a haul! Zone will take the dex belt, the +1 dagger and one elemental gem. Suffice to say that Zone will not need more protection. He is less likely to be in a position where he can be harmed. His AC buff and AC from movement is sufficient. If he needs more protection, he can ask Jones for a barkskin extract. The +4 and +3 rings should go to Sledge and Jones respectively. Int band is straightforward. Either Jones or Sledge can exchange their amulet of natural armor for the better one and relinquish their old one to Osric. The rest can be distributed or be sold for gold.
Zone |
After removing everything, Zone turns to his companions.
"We needa do something with the body. It will move if someone's gonna come here and remove the stake. She's gonna be trouble. Do we dump it into the river or cut her head off? If we're doing second option, we need to sprinkle holy water on its head. We could dump her in sun if outside still shining."
Is it still day outside? Zone will cut Aisa's head off if the party has holy water.
Zone |
Zone then stabs Radvir on the leg to draw some of the blood and places them into two separate vials.
"So we're gonna sweep all of the rooms in this castle or do we call it quits today?"
Jones Shei'lac |
"First, I'd like to know what you're doing with those." Jones points to the vials of blood.
Zone |
"This bad digger crashed one your boys easy peasy. Wouldn't try it a second time. Seriously not trying to kill or torture ya. Just keep working with us and we'll let ya off soon. We need some of yer blood. Either yer cut yourself and let it drip into the bottle or I do it for you. Need almost a bottle thick. Nothing too costly. Sides, yer a vampire. All these boo-boo will disappear in seconds or minutes."
Zone turns to Jones almost fully facing him but some of his face is still facing Radvir and raises the little patch of cloth strip with some of the Radvir's hairs on it.
"Yer wondering why we need some of em. To tip his boss off during our little show and tell. This vamp wants em off his trail. We want to feed his boss our little story. Might as well make it believable. Win-win for both of us."
Osric the Shining |
"I am sorry Zone, I am not following you. What exactly are you planning on telling Luvick?
How would a couple of vials of blood be proof that we destroyed Radvir? And even if it were, Luvick wants him animate and bound, not destroyed. We'd have broken our word, he'd be angry at us for betraying him and then we'd have a whole clan of vampires to deal with.
How is any of this a good idea?
And why would we want to make Bloodbrew? We should destroy the recipe, any who know the recipe, and all samples of it."
Samuel Sledge |
"This is all getting pretty complicated. We should go back to the original plan."
Zone |
"Since when we're telling him that we're destroyed him? Some of us are bad liars, yer know. He might know through their link or something. We're using the red to show them we had a fight but he use that time to slip off because we had to deal with Aisa and Hetna. A good story, ya?"
Zone looks at Osric in the eye before turning back to Jones and Sledge.
"Just a suggestion if we're bluffing. Whatever. Yer call."
Jones Shei'lac |
And why would we want to make Bloodbrew? We should destroy the recipe, any who know the recipe, and all samples of it."
"To buy ourselves time. Luvick can communicate telepathically with his spawn. Once Radvir's current Bloodbrew dose wears off, and he reverts to a loyal spawn, Luvick will know about our plan to betray him, and where Radvir saw us last."
Osric the Shining |
"Luvick will know sooner or later if we betray him.
He will certainly know if we report back. As Zone says, some of us are bad liars. That is generally true of priests of Aroden -- I mean, of Iomedae. Unless Luvick is a complete fool, he will know this and ask me what transpired.
And if we don't report back, he'll know when the last of the Bloodbrew wears off and Radvir is his vassal again.
I agree with Sledge. We should go back to the original plan. Whatever additional information Radvir can give us, beyond what we can find from the notes and materials here, is not worth the dishonor of breaking an agreement. Nor is it worth - for you more pragmatic sorts - the hassle of having Luvick's entire clan after us."
Jones Shei'lac |
Jones rubs his chin. "Mmh, you have a point..."
He nods. "Very well. It seems the risks far outweigh the benefits, both morally and logically."
Samuel Sledge |
"One problem. Ifn they're gonna torture him for the sake a' torture, I gotta problem or two with that. If you guys think that's likely, we'll just cook 'em in the sun, end it quick-like."
Jones Shei'lac |
"That would leave us with the worst of both choices. We'd have no information, and Luvick would hunt us down for betraying him."
Storm Dragon |
So...anyway...
The room goes dark, and all of you feel your muscles trying to stiffen.
Everyone make a Will save, DC 21. Failure means you are paralyzed.
The sound of heavy feet grows extremely loud. It appears you were very close to where whatever those were (probably the wood golems you were told about) originated.
Zone |
Will save: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (7) + 23 = 30
Zone breaks free of the spell, one hand of belt and chuckles.
"Chit-chat later. Looks like the castle is not done with us yet."
Jones Shei'lac |
Will+insp: 1d20 + 17 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 17 + (3) = 27
Jones draws his rapier and keeps "looking" around with his echolocation.
Zone |
Zone hides and use his touchsight to the locate the source.
Stealth: 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (5) + 31 = 36
This is after Radvir voluntary gives up some of his blood which is in the post where he holds up the cloth strip to Jones.
Zone |
If Radvir did not object the donation with a post, I will assume that he did it.
Osric the Shining |
Will: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (10) + 21 = 31
"Your demons, Radvir?"
Zone, Radvir absolutely refused to make a 'donation' and the GM said you'd have to make an attack roll, remember?
Jones Shei'lac |
I thought we'd have moved out of earshot before discussing it, but okay.
Jones doesn't seem at all worried about the demons.
"I'm sure Luvick will disagree with you, once we honorably fulfill our agreement with him. Besides, letting you go without Bloodbrew would just delay the inevitable."
Zone |
Ignore stealth check above.
Zone was livid by the sudden turn.
"No honor?! Yer really think we're that wretched?! Some of us are actually trying to help yer claim yer freedom but noo. Yer have ta went apeshit in the middle of the discussion and screw yerself by screwing our body and sicking yer pets on us again. Our fault for not keeping our lil talky airtight. To think that I was gonna cover you but now Imma sold on the idea of handing you in. Yer not worth it. Screw ya."
The xeph thrust his knife towards his so call captive's leg with touchsight and then flips away from him.
Stab the vamp's leg w/ windreader: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (3) + 28 = 31
Silver stab damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Acrobatics to move half-speed without AoO vs DC 15: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33
Touchsight ignores his concealment.
Osric the Shining |
"I would never have freed you, Radvir, and gave you no reason to think I would. I will honor my agreement with Luvick."
Osric will chill for now. He could use Dispel Magic or Nimbus of Light to get rid of the darkness, but both Zone and Jones can attack the demons as is.
Jones Shei'lac |
Depends on whether I can "see" any demons.
Zone |
Now that I think of it, Osric casted daylight before we first faced Radvir. Is Osric daylight still active or was it cancelled during the first battle?
Osric the Shining |
It should be still active, but it might be temporarily suppressed by Deeper Darkness.
Nimbus of Light apparently beats all darkness effects; Osric could also pick up Heighten Spell and use that on Continual Light next level.
But Jones has Echolocation and Zone has touchsight so Osric does not need to light up the place right now.
Storm Dragon |
I can't recall whether he cast it before or after the first deeper darkness. I'll check tomorrow, going to bed now. If he cast it to dispel deeper I think that means neither spell takes effect (like the interaction between Haste and Slow), if it was already up I goofed earlier and the room should have been normal light in the first Nabasu fight (not that it would have made a difference I think), but there's still no Daylight ATM, and the new Deeper would take hold. I'll double check all relevant rules in the morning.
Osric the Shining |
Actually, there is something Osric might as well do.
He invokes the power of his Inheritor's Gauntlet to make his sword Bane (Evil Outsider) for 1 minute.
Storm Dragon |
Okay, so, looks like Osric cast Daylight while you were fighting Konas. Then, Deeper Darkness would have dispelled that and made it normal light in the room when you first fought the Nabasu (mea culpa), so the Deeeper Darkness here would take hold in any case (even if he' cast Daylight after to dispel Deeper). If Nimbus of Light is reactivated it will end this cast of Deeper Darkness.
@Jones you can "see" them at the other end of a hallway, partially around each side of the hall taking cover.
Jones Shei'lac |
"They're down the hallway!"
With rapier drawn and eyes shut, Jones drinks a Displacement extract.
Samuel Sledge |
Sledge will flex for the blind-fighting feats and shut his eyes.
Normal and improved.
Jones Shei'lac |
Uhhhh I've got news for you buddy
Samuel Sledge |
frick i was wondering why i got unsubscribbered and not seeing new posts
