Julzaeron "Jules" Jericho |
Jules immediately hated the essence the prison gave off; the thriving grime, hatred, and anti-repetitiveness that flowed during it's life still sent shockwaves across Jules' body.
Turning to Shoukichi, he speaks aloud.
"I do not know personally of your life; as creeping as a fox, you are with such a truth. But even still, I trust you with more faith than I could ever spare." Approaching the young man, the half-elf embraced him with a hug. Letting go, he turns to the rest of the group.
"And the same belongs to you all, too. By the spirit of the late Professor Lorrimor, and all the kindness and hope he and my parents have brought to me, I shall offer my dedication to whatever we do."
Ezekiel Andervalst |
This is the tumbly shed, right? Also, Ezekiel is looking through the window - what does he see?
Ezekiel Andervalst |
"Hmm... let us do this... orderly? We first clear out towers."
Ezekiel goes to the nearest tower and kicks down the door, earthbreaker at the ready.
Ezekiel Andervalst |
Ezekiel does the same on the next tower.
Ezekiel Andervalst |
Oh ok.
Ezekiel goes back to the scythe balcony and opens the door, Earthbreaker at the ready.
Readied action to smack any bozo that jumps Ezekiel.
Rynjin |
Well I was hoping Dual would get back to me on that pretty quick, or Alex would pipe up, but it really doesn't matter. Ezekiel can bust it down in a minute or two or Steef can Take 20 to unlock it. Either way you're inside, no muss, no fuss.
Edit: Actually I don't think Steef can make it on a 20. So busting it down it is.
Ezekiel busts down the door and the group gets their first look at the inside of the prison.
Unfortunately, it's merely a hallway, and ends in another locked door. Ezekiel handily smashes this one as well.
Beyond is row upon row of ten-foot-square prison cells lined up along the walls, each separated from the passing hallway by a series of iron bars fitted with a narrow iron door. Skeletons slump in many of the cells, the bones scattered where they lie and coated with a mixed layer of ancient ashes and fresh mold.
This is the second floor western cellblock, where the less dangerous criminals were held.
How do you proceed? Go round by round. If you want to "fast forward" (i.e. not do separate actions/stick together/etc.) just say where you're all headed en masse.
Feel free to move your tokens as you wish, just no more than one round's worth at a time (6 squares max, these are 10 foot squares).
Ezekiel Andervalst |
Ezekiels smashes the door.
Dunno this things health/DR, so gonna do it three times.
Sunder: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 3d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 1, 1) + 7 = 11
Sunder: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 3d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 4, 4) + 7 = 17
Sunder: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 3d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 2, 5) + 7 = 15
Rynjin |
Bro pls, stop making reverse progress. For future reference, a big sturdy metal door can take whacks like that and keep on ticking for a bit. You've dealt a mite less than half its HP with those swings once I factor in hardness, hence why I said it took you about a minute to bust through (6-10 rounds will be your norm for now).
Ezekiel Andervalst |
You ninja'd me you silly duckling.
Rynjin |
Cassiel detects no magic.
Moved Cassiel back 30 feet since Detect Magic is a Standard action.
Likewise moved back Ezekiel. What, the big ass 10 FOOT SQUARES text with a cyan starburst around it was too subtle for y'all?
Ezekiel Andervalst |
I have 80 feet of movement. I moved 8 squares.
Rynjin |
You can move while detecting, it's just a Standard to keep Concentrating on it. So you're moving at half speed. But, you detect on the door.
Cassiel detects no magic.
Shoukichi is certain none of these are the cells from his dream. None of these cells have windows.
Cassiel, Jules, and Shoukichi are gripped by fear, though they know not the source.
The three of you are Shaken.
Not long afterward, you hear an ominous rattling, as of bones clacking together, and the skeletons in all the cells come alive at once.
Many are still trapped in their cages, unable to do more than claw at the group from between the bars.
However, five of the cells are open, for one reason or another, and five of the skeletons lurch out to engage you.
TL;DR: AND THEN A SKELETON (or five) POPPED OUT. Roll for Initiative!
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
5d20 ⇒ (15, 12, 6, 1, 20) = 54
Ezekiel Andervalst |
Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Ezekiel unleaded a thunderous roar and smash the nearest skeleton.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
3d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 3, 2) + 10 = 21

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, I was working on a paper presentation I had to do today. It's been a week from hell.
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Steef selects a blunt arrow from his quiver and readies it to fire.
Rynjin |
15 is enough to cast a cantrip, if that's what you needed. =p And, sadly, your 5 ft. step won't save you...since you go dead last.

A skeleton is right next to Ezekiel, and lashes out with its wicked claws!
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
It strikes him once, opening up a long gash on his cheek.
1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Likewise, a skeleton is near Shoukichi. It quicksteps forward and slashes at him twice as well!
It hits him once, hard, opening up 4 long gashes in his chest.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
7 damage to Ezekiel and Shoukichi. Jules is up.
Julzaeron "Jules" Jericho |
Why do I have to have no Religion ranks? Why can't Know. Religion be a class skill? Why?
Jules, savoring the fact he had gotten armor on his body beforehand, swings at the closest skeleton to him with his kukri.
Attack Roll: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (10) - 2 = 8
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Rynjin |
Why do you have a total -2 to-hit? Needless to say, you miss. Also, you don't need a skill as a class skill to take it in PF, they changed that from 3.5. All something being a class skill does is give you a +3 with the first rank.
Shoukichi?
Ezekiel Andervalst |
He's Inspiring courage. Capital I on the "inspiring" in his initiative.
Rynjin |
Shaken gives you -2 to Attack Rolls; unless I'm mistaken. In that case, I'll revise it.
It does, but IIRC you're using Weapon Finesse and have 16 Dex. So that's +3 to-hit normally, -2 = +1. Even if you're using your Str (13) you should have -1, not -2.
You don't have your sheet linked on your profile. Please do so.
Shoukichi begins a rousing speech to rally your spirits to greater heights.
A skeleton quicksteps in to attack Steef, while another moves to attack Jules. Thankfully, it is too far away to bring both its claws to bera on Jules, but Steef is not so lucky.
3d20 ⇒ (12, 12, 13) = 37
Damage Steef: 2d4 + 8 ⇒ (2, 2) + 8 = 12
Damage Jules: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
The skeleton ravages Steef, raking its claws once, and then twice across his chest, inflicting great bleeding wounds.
Jules is likewise hurt, but not nearly to the same extent as Steef, suffering painful but not life threatening injuries.
Steef takes 12 damage, and Jules takes 5.
Steef is up. Fire your shot.
After Steef:
Ezekiel crushes the nearest skeleton with his massive hammer in retribution for injuring him. Its bones are crushed to powder, the ones that aren't scattered by the sheer force.
Steef Krafslayer |
Steef gasps in pain as the skeleton sinks its claws into him. "Hoo boy, that was a bad one...gonna feel that in the morning. He takes a shaky step back, then unloads two arrows at the skeleton that hit him.
5-foot step away from the skeleton threatening me, then Flurry at him w/ blunt arrows (blugeoning damage)
Attack 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Damage 1: 1d8 ⇒ 2
Attack 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Damage 2: 1d8 ⇒ 2
Welp. I'm dead.
Rynjin |
Yeah that'd be the downside of only having Wis to-hit at 2nd, not 1st. On the upside, if you survive y'all are gonna level from this one. This one's nasty at any level but I didn't think it was time for y'all to level until you'd had one good challenge as a party.
This here is the reason I gave you 1.5x HP. Or Steef would be unconscious.
Another skeleton lurches from around the corner and slashes at Ezekiel.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
It rakes another line across his ribs.
6 damage to Ezekiel.
A skeleton grabs at Shoukichi through the bars of its cell, but can't get a solid swing at him.
1d20 ⇒ 9
Also, Alex, get in the Roll20 map so you can see everything mang. I don't see that you've ever joined.
Cassiel, you're up.
Rynjin |
'Kay.
Cassiel's spell fizzles.
1d4 ⇒ 1
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
And unfortunately Cassiel just won the "F+!! you lottery" for this area.
His vision of the prison fades away as all he can see is the slowly approaching figure of a ghostly apparition, flanked by a small flock of Stirges.
You are Paralyzed and unable to move.
The stirges move in more quickly than their master, and begin biting you all over as you are helpless to stop them.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Jules sees small spots of blood begin to appear all over Cassiel.
1d6 ⇒ 2
2 damage to Cassiel.
Rynjin |
Shoukichi's skeleton attacks him again. It open up a gash in his throat, and he burbles once before dropping to the floor, cut off in mid-speech.
2d20 ⇒ (17, 6) = 23
1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Shoukichi is now at -2 and must make a Constitution check to stabilize.

5d20 ⇒ (5, 7, 2, 19, 20) = 53
The flute music sends shivers up the spines of Cassiel, Ezekiel, and Jules, impairing their abilities, though Shoukichi (small favors) and Steef are unaffected.
You three are Shaken.
Can everyone update their HP totals please? Only Cassiel has done so.
Ezekiel Andervalst |
why did nobody play a cleric so we could just butt rape this encounter

Note: I was unsure as to whether or not Ezekiel was inspired. Add 2 damage if he was.
Rynjin |
Ezekiel is not. Nobody who goes after the skeleton that dropped Shoukichi (who was up first...) has Inspire Courage. Shoukichi will probably be getting Lingering Performance at some point for just this such occasion. =)
Ezekiel Andervalst |
whatever shall I do without an extra two damage
