Tiefling, Strix and Aasimar don their sashes and simply walk about the city heading to the Apothecary Shop. They find the front door open. A citizen sits at the counter visiting with Rohalendi.

He looks up with a bit of a start, "Can I help you gentlemen?"

Please Castiel offers his most winning smile.

Diplomacy DC Unknown: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
KS: Local DC 13: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Hel's preference for privacy and stealth is, perhaps, at odds with her new role; in a town of sixteen hundred, though, almost everyone is going to eventually recognize almost everyone else, and the few weeks she's been around means that she's already gotten a good start on the recognition factor. Walking next to Cimri, she regards the Archbaron's sash with reluctance, but finally puts it on.

"This way," she says at one point. "If Kels is who I think he is, I seem to remember him going into a place over here ..."

Of course, I have no OOC idea where 'over here' is, but hey - I made the KS Local roll. :P :)

The man grins at Castile chuckling at the inflection in which he states, Please.

"Doctor, a few men here to see you, representatives of the ArchBaron I'd wager".

Doctor Rohalendi exits from the back and gazes at the assembled men, "How can I help you Gentlemen, I take it you are here on official business?"

Longacre - Riley Kels Humble Abode - Hel & Cimri

Hel manages to remember where Kels' home is located, on the edge of the south city of the city. Cimri walks beside her in silence nodding at Hels suggestion, "I sort of remember this one, I'm not one for music truth be told..."

As you arrive at the house the Ladies find the area with sparse foot traffic. Looking in the one window of the small house you see no one inside.

Do you knock? Just try to barge in?

If Hel tries the door handle:
It is locked, Cimri looks to you, "I am decent with locks if you want to look out to ensure no one is coming..."

Longacre - The Last Stand Tavern - Alicarus & Corven

Battered shields and dull polearms decorate the walls of The Last Stand’s taproom, overlooking the tavern’s bar and tables. A small stage rises to the left of the bar, in full view of the room.

Caggan and Kels are here with 10 other townsfolk and three tavern employees. The numbers currently here would seem to exceed the mandate set by the ArchBaron.

Bolgart Caggan stands at the end of the bar, wearing a heavily stained apron. Riley Kels sits on the stage. eyes closed, strumming a cherry wood lute and crooning an awkward ballad.

The Bard's not noticed Corven and Alicarus' entrance. The tavern’s patrons do though and mutter and shoot you both nasty glares. Caggan simply ignores the two of you as he listens to Kels' warm up for the afternoon crowd.

"Exactly," Cole says. "The archbaron has decided that we'll be enforcing his decrees and has given us leave to decide the details of said enforcement. As such, we're granting your request for an exemption from the curfew. So long as you have legitimate medical business, you and anyone else necessary for said business will be allowed out after hours. We wanted to inform you in person so there was no confusion." He smiles at her, looking actually interested in something for the first time all day. "We wouldn't want to deprive the townspeople of their doctor in these trying times. I hope this makes things a bit easier for you to handle."

"Yes, in fact we are!" Pelleas sets her written list of requests down on the table, crossing his arms across his chest after he adjusts his sash. "We've been named special agents of Archbaron Fex, and as such have been given the authority to make decisions on your exemption requests. You will be able to move freely about after curfew in regard to medical emergencies, and I will leave it up to your discretion as to whether a patient's condition is serious enough to deserve an exemption for extended family to visit them in groups larger than the writ allows. In such cases, please attach such approval to the door of the home with a signature attached, if you would please."

Castiel's mouth quirks at the mention of discretion. Resurrectionists were vital to the healing arts, but still, distasteful. Everyone wanted to benefit from their work, but no one wanted to know details. As if such intricate knowledge of living things could happen through a book or imagination. I've always found night-work particularly thrilling. The quiet in the air, so thick you bent over with the weight of it all. Yet, so quick, and nimble and liberating, like being being buried beneath a mound of finest down. The night flowers blooming, and crickets playing a dainty melody. Only the owls and mice bear witness. Like, in the poem the Island of Lost Dreams... Take only memories, and be as footprints upon the shore.

Alicarus moves up to the bar, ignoring Caggan ignoring him, and leans onto it. His eyes sweep the tavern, taking in the patrons and the bard--anyone who scowls at him receives a mirthful smile in return. If Caggan finally pays him some heed, Alic turns back and gives him another smile; if not, he eventually taps the bar to get the man's attention.

"It's my understanding that you've somewhat disregarded the posting that was issued, sirrah. And now I find a heretic bard spreading hypocrisy and treason in your establishment. It doesn't look very good, however you spin it. So what say you turn out the rabble-rouser who'll only cause you trouble, and move on with you life as a law-abiding citizen?" Alic's smile never fades throughout the speech.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 Hmm, that probably doesn't work very well.

While I have doubts as to whether you will be less heavy handed about the law than the former Sheriff, I and my patients will rest easier knowing that an exemption has been made for the sick.

I will be sure to place writs on the doors of the ill as you have requested. I will not approve of familial visits except under limited circumstances to reduce the problems those family members may have as they travel about at night".

The man in the apothecary remains impassive at the news.

Marvelous! I, too, am sure the people of Longacre will rest well knowing their medical needs are well taken care of! They are truly fortunate to have a such a dedicated healer among them!

Corven remains silent as he is fairly certain Alicarus has more to say in reply to Caggan's words. Still, he stands ready and vigilant in case this escalates into something more than a simple debate, at the same time keeping his eyes on the Bard, a faint smile on his lips. The meaning behind it clear enough. "Do not do anything stupid."

Alic sighs openly at Caggan's comments, and his eyes narrow as he looks around the tavern. "Actually, Caggan, I see ten patrons, four employees, and a wanted man. It hardly seems appropriate to consider a criminal when determining legal occupancy."

He turns back and sets his hands on the counter. "I'm feeling a tad upset, but far be it from me to deprive someone of a learning experience. So if you'd be so kind as to apologize for the rude tone you just took, and let us know that you won't interfere in delivering this insidious minstrel to justice, and we'll be on our way with smiles on our lips. I don't think you'll be very appreciative of the alternative."

Caggan swallows a gleam of fear in his eyes but that's all he shows as he replies, "You got a writ showin' my entertainer is a criminal? If not I don't think you and yer cloaked friend, who I ain't never seen about town before, are takin' him anywhere. If ya' do decide to take him then I have to wonder why the ArchBaron bothers to write any laws down cause it would seem ta' me that there ain't no law atall in such a case.

I done some checkin' up on you though. Seems despite yerself the kids i this city like ya'. This doesn't have ta' go down with violence. You come back with a writ ya' can take him. I don't want no trouble with the new law if yer it".

When Caggan begins to acquiesce, and particularly when he comments on no need for violence, Alic is suddenly all smiles again. He claps his hands and positively beams at the bartender. "Yes, of course, a writ. I don't know if my companion here happens to have one on his person, but I believe some of our other friends do, and I should think they'll be here shortly. I'm ever so glad you've seen reason, Master Caggan. I do so hate resorting to unnecessary tactics, and I don't know the pain would have done you a great deal of good just now."

The aasimar turns to regard Kels for a moment, and hums aloud. "That said, would you mind terribly if we began to make our inquiries of your, ah, 'entertainer,' while we wait for our companions' arrival? I swear on my honor not to instigate any violence toward him within your establishment. I only hope to help speed things along, so as not to trouble you any further." He turns back to Caggan and gives him a smile. "You do strike me as an honest man who respects the law, even if he doesn't particularly love it. In some ways that makes you all the more admirable."

Then Alicarus winks and pulls a coin from his purse. "In any case, I'd like a drink. You don't happen to have any Egorian brandy, do you? A little nice burning in my throat never goes unwelcomed."

The patrons discontinue filing out but appear nervous.

That sounds sensible, Mr Sungazer. Castiel smirks and wanders off about town. Meandering through the streets,he bows and smiles at passersby, entertains them with a few notes from his harp, and, in general, portrays himself as a typical bard and dandy. Apologies, I've been busy and wasn't sure if someone else wanted to chime in OOC about the writs.

Alicarus takes his drink with a smile, and turns to face the bard. "Master Kels, is it? I'm given to understand you've been causing a disturbance. Rousing the rabble, or some such? There are any number of legal decrees for your actions, but I won't bother you with lists in Infernal unless you're truly interested. Rest assured that for the time being, you're simply being detained for questioning. You might not even face an actual criminal accusation."

The aasimar sips his brandy and grimaces, both at the taste and the minstrel. "Although I harbor my doubts to your innocence, and I suspect you do as well. It might be better if you simply come clean about your actions, sirrah. I'm no enemy of free thought, until it turns to inciting chaos and heresy. The crowds though it seems have started to learn just who the two of you are and especially if the sashes are prominently displayed give you a wide berth.

Actions?

Cole. Go ahead and post your actions post Vigilante switch. Note that, your actions should NOT involve actually entering the Tavern as of yet.

Male Strix Vigilante (Serial Killer) 2 | HP: 14/18 | AC: 15, T: 12, FF: 13 | CMD: 16 | Fort: +2, Reflex: +5, Will: +3 | Init: +4 | Perception +7

As soon as the others are out of sight, Cole ducks into a nearby alleyway and slips into the shadows. He tucks his sash and clothes inside his back as he changes his outfit. His wings flare open and he pulls out slightly bloodstained black over his leather armor and a burnished steel helm. The metal is one solid piece, covering his entire face save for a small slit for the eyes. With a savage smirk, he launches himself into the air and soars over the rooftops toward the tavern. How he missed flying free when he was in town with humans. He swooped down as he neared the building, landing on a roof across the street and settling down to see what the situation was.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Male Human (Chelaxian) Monk (Unchained) 2; AC 18, touch 17, flat-footed 14, CMD 22 (24 vs. grapple); HP 7/23; Ki 0/0; Fort +5, Ref +6, Will +3 (+2 vs. fear, +2 vs. paralysis and sleep); Initiative +7; Perception +8, Sense Motive +8

Not expecting an attack, especially one so sudden, Corven's head and face feel as if they explode with pain. The dizziness that follows is hardly a surprise then, and the same holds true for the fact that his attacks against the tavern owner miss entirely.

Flurry of blows (unarmed strike): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Flurry of blows (unarmed strike): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Down to 3 hit points. The moral of the story? Just because you are evil and it looks cool, it is probably a bad idea to partially cripple your subordinates and/or associates by making them swear on a damage-causing thingy of evilness... :-P

Longacre - The Last Stand Tavern - Corven

The Bard rushes towards the back door as Corven's flurry misses the Tavern owner, certainly the vicious cuts received have something to do with that!

Round 2 -
Caggan.
Corven GO!!!
Kels.

DM Vengeant ONLY:
Improved Unarmed Attack - 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 1 = 12 - Damage 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

The glass now starting to be more of a hindrance than a weapon, Caggan drops it and opts to throw a wild haymaker at Corven but the punch misses.

Corven, the bard just exited the back door.

Longacre - Outside The Last Stand Tavern - Alicarus, Azrael, Pelleas, and Castiel

Castiel increases his speed slightly as Alicarus comes back out from the alley and approaches the front door.

Alicarus, you catch Pelleas and Castiel approaching from down the street out of the corner of your eye.

The crowd begins to disperse a bit as the two sash wearing begin to pick up speed as they approach the Last Stand.

Azrael, no one has noticed you land on the building yet. You see three of you fellows congregate at the front entrance of the Last Stand - Corven nor Hel are anywhere to be seen.

Longacre - Outside Kel's Humble Abode -
Eowithe Mourngrym

Having just arrived in Longacre last night, you decide to take a walking tour of the city. It's the best way to become familiar with any city really and this one is no exception.

As you head down a side street contemplating how you can best aid the officials of the city, you spot two such officials both human females, easy to spot with their red sashes, attempting to pick the lock on a citizens' front door. At that moment the front door pops open, one of them spots you looking and glares at you, "Official business citizen". Is her explanation.

Longacre - Outside Kel's Humble Abode -

Eowithe comes to a halt in her exloration of the city when she see's the two sashed women working the lock of the nearby residence.

Her autotmatic response to the declaration of 'official' business almost has her nodding politely and continuing on, but....

"Official business, you say?" Eowithe says, hands on her hips, "I would think 'officials' of the city of Longacre wouldn't be working a lock like a pair of common thieves! Explain yourselves!" she exclaims.

Taking one last look at Caggan, Corven offers him just a thin mirthless smile, the meaning behind it clear enough. Still, the man does not stay and fight, seeing as how the real targt is making a run for it. Instead he simply ignores the tavern owner and sprints behind the bard.

Unless I am mistaken, this basically counts as a Withdraw action, so no AoOs if memory serves? Also, Corven has the Run feat, so he moves at five times the normal speed when running instead of four times (basically covering 150 ft. per round of running), in addition to having a +4 bonus to Acrobatics checks to jump with a running start and retaining his Dexterity bonus to AC.

Longacre - The Last Stand Tavern - Corven

Faster than the patrons can blink, Corven rushes the back door to ensure that the Bard Kels does not get away.

Indeed he does not. The Bard turns and find you at his heels...
