Dude! Iceland!! That's totally on my bucket list of places to visit! What's it like? How are the glaciers?! What about the rift zones between the plates?! Are those easy to access?

I couldn't tell you about the rift zones, we haven't been near any of them yet but I think we're going to? Many of them are in the middle of the island, and we aren't heading that way until some time next week. The entire island is absolutely beautiful, though, just outside of where I was staying in Reykjavik there was an amazing view of the mountains and the ocean. We've seen some glaciers on the mountains from afar, but we should be seeing some of the larger ones later on. I'm here with a group from my university so it's pretty structured and I can't really just go where I want. I'm headed to Akureyri tomorrow and we're probably going whale watching soon, too.

DM, could Alexander prepare himself with inscribing two scrolls for the upcoming job? If not, no problem. Alexander is ready to go.

Alexander:
Crafting approved. Once the crafting is done, you can head to the Gameplay thread and describe how you will enter the Fort.

Shadow's Status

Castiel:
You arrive at the Last Stand Tavern and almost immediately you are approached by an attractive human woman. She sits at your table and pulls a chair close to you, "So you're Castiel eh? Let's get one thing straight, this is my job and my outfit, you take orders from me, got that? You might be some hotshot where you are from but here I am the face that people know". She seems a bit, hostile...

Whoever this Razelgo is you've never heard of him.

Shadow's Status

Robert:
You scout the Fort in the morning and are sorely disappointed. Cimri is the spontaneous one alright, she has nothing set up here at all! In your mind sloppy to be sure. At least you know you will not be walking into a trap, it was certainly worth the 30 minutes trek to walk here.

Go ahead and post your approach to the Fort, hell, considering your paranoia, you may even want to arrive there in the early afternoon to be there before Cimri.

Shadow's Status

Argog:
Go ahead an post in Gameplay describing how you will enter the Fort.

Shadow's Status

Darkin:
Cimri is known to you. You have drunk and thrown daggers at the Last Stand with her a time or twenty in this place, not much else to do around here most of the time.

She seems to ahve been busy lately though, you overhear Cimri's meetings with several different strangers as well as a few locals for a meeting at Fort Estazano. You tail her out of the Inn and ask her to join. She frowns, "You should not listen in on my conversations without permission! Still, you talk a good game about your powers. I'll give you a chance to put it to the test. Meet me at the Fort in two days time, the job is lucrative, you'll see".

Go ahead and post in the Gameplay thread your approach for entering the Fort.

OH ya, I heard about some of the stuff going on in the Philippines. Although, Malaysia has some pretty hinky stuff, too. The Prime Minister did some money laundering with like 4.7 billion USD or something like that, and the dummy corporation they ran the money through defaulted on all of the loans that were involved, so... ya.

Conversations at the Last Stand Tavern:

Castiel smiled in amusement and called the server over. He gave the server a fetching smile and flipped him a silver. Ale, please, and one for my friend as well. And, a bowl of stew. Keep my cup full. He winked as the bearded man left and then turned back to Cimri. These sorts of people needed to be dealt with in a certain way. Acquiesce too quickly to their blustering demands, and you seemed like a push over. Retort back, and the deal would go sour. He didn't fancy being the bottom of the pair... yet. Although, he had spent a wonderful decade with a Kuthite dalliance. Perhaps, in his next century he'd visit her again, and see what lessons he could teach her. But, that was for later. For now, taking time to completely ignore her and see to his own needs should do well enough to show that he had spine and wouldn't be cowed, but was open to discussion.

And you, I take it, are Cimri. Razelgo said you were capable. But, beautiful? He smiles again and sips his drink when it arrives. But, very well, you call the shots. I'll do whatever you say on this little caper of yours.

Castiel - Conversation at the Last Stand Tavern:
Cimri seems taken aback by your response, "Aright good, great". She then goes silent for a time drining what you ordered for her.

"I mean feel free to chime in with suggestions but just make sure you say they're suggestions so the others don't think that I'm taking orders for you if I listen. Yeah okay, this'll, this'll be okay".

She stands and stretches, "Alright, you were running abit late, understandable you had to travel but you cut it real close, this caper goes down tonight. It's time to head over and meet the others".

I'll introduce her and you, then you can chime in in the Gameplay thread! That'll be tomorrow...

Mortals, so easy to sway Castiel downed his mug and stood with a smile and a wink. Where, exactly are we going? He opens the door with another smile and holds it open for her. Not that I'm not enjoying the mystery of it all.

Schedule got moved around, we're doing that tomorrow. Also, I WILL be off the grid completely for the next two days, so please move things along if needed. I'll do my best to join in tonight.

Alright, backstory is finally written in the alias profile, along with a sample of why Alicarus has been excommunicated from the main Kuthite faith in Nidal. Sorry to all for the delays I've had in getting that finished and coming in here, especially to DM Vengeant--life has been nothing but crazy for me at home of late, and it seems like there's been one thing after another since I got back from paintball that's distracted me from being able to get this done. That said, I'm here now, and super excited to join in!

(DM Vengeant, thank you for doing what you could without my backstory finished thus far. I took some of what you supplied and coupled it into what I had already, and I think the end result works well with getting me into the campaign as you've supplied so far, with some minor changes and additions here and there. Hopefully it works for you, I know that working in what you'd done so far was interesting for me and added some things to the character!)

Prologue:
Alicarus received the note from one of the village urchins, whom he'd taken under his wing as some of the first converts to the Church of Revealing Darkness. The young generation was so promising, after all; who better to spread the good word of Zon-Kuthon than those who would spread it widely and freely, and who would have many long years ahead to do so? Besides, they were ready faithful, children with or without parents and homes, who were ready to accept truths from adults who showed them some care and an open ear to their maladies. All sufferings, large and small, were the signs of the Dark Prince's love, after all; and while a good flogging doubtless builds more strength of character and conviction than the injustice of boiled peas for dinner again, who was Alicarus to judge their value in the grand scheme of things?

Besides, in his limited experience, most children didn't do very well with good floggings.

The note arrived as he was wrapping up Sarilla's wound. The girl had fallen from the rafters of an abandoned house--one the children had been told not to play in--and without a second thought, her playmates had brought her to Alicarus's hovel in an alley near the edge of town. They'd found him praying, knees pressed into the spiked chain draped around his body, and waited patiently for him to come to the end before excitedly asking for his aid.

"This is going to hurt quite a bit, little one," the aasimar was saying, holding Sarilla's leg on both sides of the fracture. It was an ugly break, the bone protruding through muscle and skin, but a relatively clean one, and Alicarus had little doubt it would heal. "But you know how that is?" He raised an eyebrow, waiting for her answer.

"The pain makes me stronger. The bone will heal thicker and won't break as easy." Sarilla's voice was small and tight, but firm enough. Alicarus couldn't help but smile. She was one of his best acolytes.

"Exactly. So it is with all things. This was just a lesson to make you strong. Next time you may not fall, and if you do, you'll know you won't break. Not too badly, anyway." With that, he briskly set the bones back together, smiling again as the girl bit off the scream that rose in her throat. Glancing over his shoulder as he reached for his tools, the inquisitor asked, "What is it, Jakob?"

"I have a note for you. A lady asked me to give it to you."

"A lady, hmm?" Alic gestured for two of the other children to hold Sarilla's leg while he threaded a needle and dipped it in some strong alcohol to clean it. "And what does it say?"

Jakob unfolded the slip of parchment and began to stumblingly read the words. Alic nodded and helped him along; among his other efforts, he'd been teaching the children their letters. "A mile to the no-north, there is an old fort, Fort... Es-ta-na-zo. Meet me there at... dusk... t... tomorrow, and I will give you the de... the deta... the details. Cimri."

Alicarus paused at the name and mulled over the note. It had been some time since he saw Cimri last, and he knew she'd found others to satisfy her... baser appetites. They'd spent time together, sure, and Alic had pleased her--and, truth be told, she'd pleased him--but he'd never even considered his feelings for the woman to go beyond simple young lust and some curiosity. They'd used each other, nothing more, and when the time was up their agreement came to an end. But now it seemed she wanted something more from him. Surely not like their prior arrangement, but certainly this was something, the first sign of any kind he'd had since coming to Longacre. He nodded, both to let Jakob know to fold the parchment again, and for himself, deciding he'd at least go to the fort and see.

"Thank you, Jakob. Take a silver from my purse and buy a treat for the congregation." The little boy smiled, hugged Alicarus briefly, then ran off laughing with most of the other children to purchase some sweets. Alic watched them go, then turned back to Sarilla. Holding the needle to the edge of the tear, he reached out and held the girl's chin for a moment, locking his eyes with hers. "I'm going to stitch the wound shut, and it's going to bleed and hurt more. Take a deep breath, now, and then clench your jaw. And remember--pain is love."

Hopefully that's to your liking, not too long (or long enough to make up for my absence!), and good for swinging over to Gameplay!

Hey all, I am back in the States and mostly settled in at home. I'll probably edit my last post with some information about Pelleas as I keep forgetting to do that. It's good to be back.

Also, Castiel, in reference to your question about rift zones in Iceland; I got to walk all around on the boundary between the Atlantic and European plates as part of a national park, so I'd say they're pretty accessible.
