Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

Unwilling to stand by as his companion falls, Pengaal dives forward and attempts to knock the legs out from under the strange knight. Instead he collides with what feels like a solid wall, one that hardly budges to even acknowledge his efforts. The knight turns now to face the interloper while the strange melody that had been playing during the duel ceases. In its place there comes a terrible screeching sound that borders on being physically painful. It lasts only a few seconds, but the meaning is clear.

Apparently the knight is displeased...

Everyone except Siegschwert and Pengaal may act now. Let's see what happens.

As soon as Siegschwert drops, Yuria claps her hands together, stepping away from everyone else as she does so "Rise, Siegschwert of Eissenhorn- you do not have my permission to die today."

She claps her hands a second time, and shoots them out from her sides, releasing the two orbs floating around her against the man menacing his blade after the group "You currently face Champions- your decision to confront us in this Abyss is most unwise!"

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

As a group the enraged survivors charge the knight. Ludwig lands a blow with his scythe across its shoulder with his scythe and is greeted with another shrieking sound for his effort. The attack leaves it in an awkward position so that it fails to avoid Yurias lightning balls. Electricity arcs across the knights breastplate, scorching it in places. Writhing under the weight of so many blows the knight undergoes a transformation. Its movements lose any trace of grace, finesse, or even restraint, replaced with unbridled fury towards its assailants. Felicia charges forward, brandishing her shield, but is stopped in her tracks when the knight deflects her blow with nothing more than the tip of its sword.

The mysterious knight unleashes a disembodied howl and brings its sword to bear against Felicia who can do nothing but watch in horror as the blade carves neatly through her shoulder, then chest, before exiting out of her side. Crimson blood showers out across the ground and Felicia falls yet the knight is not done. It turns its sword on Pengaal, driving the point through his shoulder with unnatural strength. This attack rolled a 22 to hit which barely beats your listed AC of 21. If you've got any abilities that raises your AC by 2 points (or counters) you can ignore the hit.

Thanks to Yurias magic Siegschwert is returned from deaths door just in time to see Felicia falling to the ground in a bloody pile and Pengaal being neatly impaled by the raging knight. Siegschwert is conscious, but prone.

Grimacing, Pengaal feels the sword bury itself in his shoulder before deflecting off the bone. He bares his machetes and attacks.

Not giving the Knight a chance to recoup, Pengaal slashes at him in a desperate flurry. Attacking the trunk had done no good, so he would attack the branches and leaves. Each strike cut at the knights sword hand, fighting to make him drop his weapon.

Pengaals attack causes the knight to reel back and fall to its knees. The sword it had been wielding clatters to the ground just outside of its reach, but this does not stop it from struggling to take hold of it once more. In that moment it is finally struck down by the combined efforts of Ludwig and Siegschwert. The knight falls, broken and battered, falls to the ground. Shockingly, seconds later, the body starts to melt away, turning to dust and being carried away by a strong wind. By the end all that remains is the knights sword and a single broken pendant.

The survivors are left standing amidst the carnage...

An elegant arming sword belonging to the Flower Knight, guardian of the Abyssal Woods. Though it is a finely crafted weapon it still fails to embody his ideal.

The enigmatic flower knight was the source of many tales and the muse of many pieces of art. Hie ethereal beauty is hard to capture and its swordplay is unmatchable. In the end, however, he was simply a man that gave everything to another. That, too, would be his undoing.

Siegschwert sheathed his sword and watched as the Knight's corpse disappeared. "I... want to preserve the knight's sword... if none of you shall use it." Waiting for a response, the knight then would take it.

The man then turned to watch Felicia's corpse. Meditating for a few second before walking to her corpse and kneeling beside her. He uncovered his hand, revealing the Dark Sigil... the Hollow Lords' sign. And then Siegschwert whispered to her...

The survivors gather to mourn their fallen comrade, some even with hope that she may yet live by some miracle. Minutes pass and just as it seems that Felicia the Strong may truly be dead, her figure stirs ever so slightly. That stirring builds into a struggle and slowly, somehow, Felicia manages to pull herself to her feet. The mortal wound that slew her is mostly gone - only a scar remains. Unusual, but there is something more concerning about Felicias revival. Her eyes, once full of life, are sunken into her face which is now framed by sharp cheekbones. Her figure, once strong and healthy, is now little more than pallid flesh stretched tight over an emaciated frame. She herself will come to notice that she can not feel her own heart beating. Felicia has returned to life as a Hollow!

Siegschwert collects the fallen knights sword while Yuria examines its pendant. To the latter it becomes apparent that this pendant has significance beyond a mere trinket. Pendants such as this were often gifted to wayward heros and adventurers and were enchanted with an emergency Homeward effect that would activate only when they had been slain, to ensure that they would return to their loved ones in the end.

The survivors make off into the forest, taking the path that the flower knight had carved through the undergrowth. There is a different atmosphere as you leave the beaten path. You have the unmistakable sense of intrusion for the first time, like you are wandering somewhere that you do not belong.

At Yurias direction the group continues deeper into the woods. As you walk you inevitably remember the words of the witches disciple. It is some time before they come upon anything of significance. A clearing, similar to the one that had seen when they first entered the Abyssal Woods.

In the center you see two figures. The first you recognize as the flower knight. His body is limp, craddled in the arms of the second figure - a beautiful masked woman. Her form is voluptuous with soft, pale skin that is only just barely covered by dark, flowing cloth. This, apparently, is the flower witch. She holds her lovers body gently, stroking his beaten breastplate with her hand.

Before you can enter the clearing you hear her speak. Her voice is soft and melodious. Though she is some distance away, you can hear her words as if she were right next to you. The sound makes your brain itch.

"For what purpose hast thou come, o frightful wraiths? Art thou not satisfied to remain echoes?"

"Nay, I will not hear it" she says, her voice forceful and hand clenched in anger "Thou stands amidst the ashes of what thou hast made, washing away in the river yet this alone is not enough to blunt thy hubris. "In mine heart I hold only one vow..." says the witch sorrowfully. "In mine arms I feel his heart fluttering, on the verge of death yet still he whispers to me, offering sweet council."

She continues to stroke the knights breastplate and then stops. With her finger tip she makes a pulling motion and from the breastplate comes a glowing, golden orb. The form of the knight shivers, convulses, and is then still. The witch does not pay it any mind as she caresses the orb. Finally she relinquishes it, placing it into the knights open palm. "It is time to bathe in the river."

She stands up and faces the group, from behind her mask tears stream down her face. Nearby the figure of the knight rises to its feet. The glowing orb in its hand forms into a brilliant, radiant sword in the shape of the replica sword.

"First, I will my rain hate upon thy soul!" cries the witch.

The knight puts out his arm, attempting to use his body to protect the Witch from further arm. He hurriedly brandishes his glowing blade at both Pengaal and Siegschwert in attempt to drive them away. Flower Knight activates Defend Charge. Though outnumbered and on the defensive, the knight still has teeth. Channel Energy / Last One: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 3) = 11

Ludwig quickly rushes in between Siegschwert and the Flower Knight, striking the witch across her chest.

Felicia steps in front of Yuria and approaches the Knight before her eyes flick past to the Witch just behind. She makes a sudden sidestep and hurls her shield with all her might.

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

Channel Energy isn't an attack roll, skill check, ability check, or saving throw so you don't need to roll it twice. You will use your original, higher roll. An update will come later this evening, probably in 8-9 hours.

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

The knight continues to protect the Witch causing the attacks from Ludwig and Felicia to both miss. He is so busy with managing multiple opponents that he can't attack Ludwig when the opportunity presents itself.

The Witch screams in rage as blood wells up from her various wounds. She conjures two black orbs and fires them at Ludwig and Pengaal. DC 20 Fort saves from Ludwig and Pengaal or be sickened for 1 round

Pengaal and Siegschwert may act now.

The Witch's tarry magic is absorbed by the blessings of the River. Pengaal slides to the side, trying to put the Witch between him and her Knight. With his movement he hooks her leg, pulling her off balance as his machetes try to carve the tongue from her head.

From his spot on the ground, Siegschwert knows that the Witch needs to be killed... but the knight is too zealot in his deffense.
As he stands up again, the Librarian Knight lunges forward, trying to impale the Knight with Maximum Force.

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

Pengaal steps forward and trips the Witch, causing the knight to turn around in a panic. He attempts to throw himself in the way but is too late as Pengaal drives a machete into the witches exposed stomach. She screams and writhes in agony, clutching at the blade and spitting curses. Siegschwert takes advantage of the knights distraction and thrusts his sword, piercing the flower knight through his side.

Impaled but fighting through any pain he may feel, the flower knight raises his shining sword high above his head, eyes locked on to Pengaal. Struggling to move properly with his wounds the knight lets loose a terrible cry and lunges forward, practically falling over himself. He puts all his weight behind the blow, driving the sword through Pengaal and pinning his lifeless body to the ground. Pengaal has died! He'll need to make a DC 20 Will save vs hollowing.

Knowledge Martial DC 11:

The Flower Knight initiated Strike of Defeat

The pair are both heavily wounded and on the verge of collapse. The Flower Witch clutches at a mortal wound on her abdomen trying to stop the profuse bleeding. Her knight is within reach, though he has fallen to his knees after striking down Pengaal, Siegschwert's sword still driven through his side. His breathing is heavy and the shining sword clutched in his hand sputters and flickers. The knight offers his other hand to the witch who accepts it weakly. Having shared their small solace the pair turn to face the remaining survivors...

Ludwig, Yuria, and Felicia may act now!

"I have seen quite enough of this! You will fall first, manipulator of the Abyss!" immediate action, releasing two balls of lightning against the flower witch

Yuria steps to the side, standing behind Siegschwert as she simultaneously lets a torrent of lightning assault the Flower Witch, and putting hand on the nearby champion Siegschwert, attempts to restore more of his health to face the Knight. "No one else shall fall so long as Yuria stands to guard these Champions!"
