Senketsu sighs as their Lance pierces the man-things body, sad that they must end a life but knowing it a necessary evil if they were to keep Hyglak still standing. Nodding to the Cleric, Senketsu sets off in a hurry, leading Yurei to the sounds of screams in the maze.

"This one will tackle murderers, don't take too long though?"

Marduk remembers that she's still hurt from the spider fight and uses her wand to heal herself.

She then walks inside the maze, ready to confront whatever may come.

"Marduk not be surprised. Marduk be used to it, fighting in the nature!"

No one has a lesser restoration spell btw?

"Very well done there Senketsu. What kind of creature was that thing? Oh to have a learned scholar right now."

Darius starts to move slowly towards the sounds as quietly as he can. The sound of combat may have carried, but Darius does his best to not let the enemies know where he is coming from.

A thirty-foot diameter glade sits at the center of the fild of looming vegetation. The ground is stripped down to bare earth and soil is heaped in a ring around the glade’s perimeter. Two large piles of wood stand at the eastern and western sides of the glade, while an enormous, twisted mass of roots topped by thick slabs of timber sits at the glade’s center. You see mayor Kriegler and ten of the townsfolk. A glance from the edge of the clearing make it seem that the cultists wear gauzy, diaphanous robes, but up close the horrible truth of their apparel is obvious. All except for the mayor are clothed in thousands of mosquitos.

Shel Lupescu is bound to an altar while the mayor stands over her with a wicked spear. The cultists notice you but do little other than to ask you with eerie politeness to disrobe and join them. The mayor stares at the party. "Welcome! I offer you an invitation to join us. Cast aside your weapons and false beliefs."

Marduk gives the cultists a puzzled look.

"What belief be you?" she asks, lowering her double axe.

Senketsu shakes their head wildly, their bleach white hair flowing with the motion as they listen to the Mayor's vile words. Senketsu hears marduk's question and grips Yurei's reins tightly, readying to spur the wolf into motion as needed.

"This one believes you are twisted, this one does not see how Desna could allow this practice? Your brother was monster and this one put him down. Now, step away from the Girl."

“That which sleeps within must still be fed. Only blood can contain the land’s nightmarish corruption. The salvation of one will doom all to starvation. Either join in or leave."

"There is of course a third option that you seem to have missed out entirely 'friend'," Darius brings his bow up and slowly retrieves an arrow.

Darius again calls on his innate abilities to put more force behind his voice. His abilities also have the added effect of enhancing his combat abilities for if words alone do not solve this situation. Archaeologists Luck

"I may not have very strong beliefs, but i certainly know that this is wrong and unnatural! Now you stop what you are doing or we will have no choice but to stop you... Permanently!"

Mayor Kriegler frowns as Darius draws his bow and makes a threat. He sighs and he picks up his spear.

As the situation descends into violence, the other cultists begin crying out for Ghlaunder to save them.

Darius, Hyglak and Senketsu are up!

Hyglak moves to see the mayor then chants a quick prayer."Move away from the girl!!"

Approach: On its turn, the subject moves toward you as quickly and directly as possible for 1 round. The creature may do nothing but move during its turn, and it provokes attacks of opportunity for this movement as normal.

Senketsu urges Yurei on, unable to find a clear lane in which to charge the Mayor, stopping beside the bonfire, the light shining off their Breastplate and the tip of their lance, casting a ghastly shadow of Wolf and rider.

Lunging their lance through the flickering flames Senketsu aims straight for the Mayor's heart, the whispers urging them on.

From where Darius is he cannot even see the mayor, which would make his threats a little empty and pointless. I've just moved him to inside the hedge then took a move action before shooting.

Darius move up and aims for the Mayor. He does not shoot until he the man does something threatening to him or his allies.

"No-one has to die today, Mayor. Shel, there are always other options. Will you all not listen to reason! Give up this madness!"

Held action to shoot the man if he does something threatening to Darius or one of his allies.

The mayor shrugs off Hyglak's spell. "The power of Ghlaunder protects me.." He is able to say before a lance pierces his abdomen. He steps away to cast a spell but is interrupted by an arrow to the shoulder. Crit confirmed.

Concentration check DC26: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 :(

But the pain from the arrow is too much and he fails to cast it. Party is up!

Cautiously guiding Yurei between the bonfires and bound sacrifice, Senketsu continues the onslaught on the Mayor, knowing that the only way to save the girl from her vicious fate is to strike him down.

Senketsu recalls what he knows of the foul deity worshipped by the mayor. He also is able to pierce the mayor's skin with his lance. Darius does the same as Hyglak starts an inspirational story.

Marduk can feel her muscles seizing up.

Marduk needs to make a will save DC15 or be affected by hold person. Party is up!

Hyglak move up the the girl and tries to free her from her bonds. "Don't worry lass we will save you." He says between pauses in his story.

Senketsu curses, Ghlaunder is a foul deity indeed and the Wayang remembers to inform their group what they know once they were out of this situation.

Arrows and lance piercing their flesh, Senketsu is amazed at the Mayor's hardiness and once more goes in for the kill

Hyglak starts untying Shel while Senketsu skewers the mayor, the latter shrieking in pain as his body thrashes in a fit even after you see the light leave his eyes. In mere moments the corpse bursts open in a shower of gore as a mosquito-like monstrosity crawls out into the world. It stabs at Senketsu with its stinger-like proboscis.

The party can feel the creatures mere presence threaten to sap their speed and energy.

Everyone make me a DC16 Will save or be slowed as per the spell as long as you are within 20 feet of it and 1d3 ⇒ 1 round after. Party is up!

Darius' movement slows, but he focuses his skills again and doesn't let it stop him from taking another shot with his bow. Archaeologist's Luck again.

Hyglak balks at the creature that tears it's way out of the mayor's corpse. "Foul Demon!!" He says before saying a quiet prayer to himself as the slow spell washes over his body.

Cast Protection from Evil

The Wayang reels in shock at the sudden horrific appearance before their moves turn glacial, shaking their head to clear it the Watang stabs out once more with their lance.

Hyglak casts a protective spell on himself and Senketsu lands a solid blow. The creature seems to heal a little as it tries to puncture the wayang again.

With the creatures sting scraping along the Wayang's armour, Senketsu rolls with the blow, causing nought but superficial damage. Still apalled by the creatures existence the Cavalier strikes out again, their moves still glacial.

Marduk eventually breaks free from the spell but finds herself slowed.

"Darius let me give your arrows divine power!" Hyglak yells just before chanting a quick prayer and touching Darius's quiver.

Cast Align Weapon (Good) on his arrows up to 50 at a time.

"Thank you Hyglak my friend. I hope it helps defeat this creature."

He then slowly takes another shot at the bug thing, trying to force his muscles to respond as they should.

The large insectoid creature attaches itself to Darius. The creature is considered grappled but Darius is not. He can break free as normal and bad things will happen next turn if he does not. Party is up!

The passing strike connects solidly, but now their lance is useless. Dropping it to the floor the Wayang strikes with their longsword.

Worried for Darius, Senketsu desperately tries to remove the threat of the giant insect before their companion is downed by the beast. With their longsword raised high, Senketsu strikes out with Hyglak's aid.
