When you get a GM and players that are online at the same time you often get a flurry of posts and responses. I consider myself a pretty frequent poster but I am being left in the dust by you guys.

I am also getting a bit behind.

First, I think that waiting for everyone to post may be impractical since often players disappear for a while. But at the very least, the "Rule of Two" should be instituted, in which the party does not move forwards unless there are at least two players that agree. Furthermore, if there is dissent then that gets RP'ed out until a consensus is reached, or if it cannot be reached, a vote is taken (which in my experience is really rare). But one player should definitely not be saying "the party goes here" without other players getting a chance to chime in.

Second, GM Choon: It would be really helpful if you were to have a data line of some kind that gets copied and pasted between posts that shows our progress, so it would be really easy to follow, something like:

8th Desnus, 4712 AR, 11:00 AM, Room 7.

This would only get updated if the party moves or consumes a bit of time (and thus would not need to be in every post).

The date could just be "Day 1" if that is easier, and "Room" wouldn't correspond to the numbers in the module but rather notations made on the map (in this case, probably the seventh room we would have visited). I asked earlier if I could make notes on the map but haven't heard back.

If we slow down that much, we'll be down to one post a day... which seems super slow.

I will agree to do that if necessary (better than not playing), but part of the fun for me is staying moving and doing things. We're always listening to anyone who is jumping in and getting things done. I have other games where people just stand around and talk about what we maybe should do someday, or philosophize about what they've learned... and that level of role play has its place, but this is old school dungeon crawl.

I agree the map part needs some improvement. When I get off work, I can start marking off where we've been and the traps and secret doors we've found... but Grelthe has been marking the *unopened* doors already, and usually you can just tell by what is covered up on the map.

actually 1 to 2 posts a day is the norm.

I think its great you can come one and have something exciting.

me, I came on after work and I missed a busted door, a room of rubble, a pit trap, several hallways, some dead adventurers some treasure and now I find the slime.

how did we get there? what path did we take? what If I wanted some of that treasure or stuff. (whatever it was that we found) did we do any investigation on the skeletons? did they have any food?

I definitely do not want to go off line only to return to find we went into a huge fight and I was placed in front inside the room and now am left unconscious and dying.

I am holding off on the knowledge check until I get a resolution on the poison since I may no longer have that skill in favor of what I need to harvest the poison.

BTW I am on line now, but the pace slowed down. but when I either go to bed or go to work the game comes to life and again I am left behind.

The GM has been letting anyone pop in and do stuff like search skeletons after the fact, and when we have been in battle no one has been botting anyone, or putting anyone else in danger.

But, sincerely, if that's the way that you guys want to play... I'll just put it on the back burner. I need to get work done anyway.

In my experience, this games pace has been downright blistering. If 1-2 posts/day is slow then you should see my 1/week games (I have a couple). I will slow the ride so we can get more involvement from the whole crew.

I will also work on the narration. I'm usually good at that, but not this time for some reason.

The poison can be harvested with a Kn:nature check.

I will not push like this in a fight. I give people at least 24 hours to respond in combat situations. That snake should have been tough, but that scythe crit... Ya.

If we are getting enough description that we don't need to ask a lot of questions, and the GM is making passive rolls for us, then 1 post a day gets plenty done.

I agree with that whole-heartedly, and the "rule of two" is pretty much what I have been trying to do already. I think what was happening is Zadira & I are active at the same times, so that makes 2 and we have been pushing the action. We can slow down.

ok if its knowledge nature then I will have to move my skill point out of other knowledge areas to get knowledge nature. after all what good is the ability to craft poison if you cannot get the needed materials (these things are nit readily available in marketplaces.)

do you think survival would work? also can I get my poison crafting bonus on the check?

yes I am asking about the snake.

I did not put points into knowledge nature as I thought it would have been craft or survival skill.

The pace has been a little faster than I can generally keep up with. At the same time, I don't begrudge anyone hurrying along since delay is a PbP killer. As long as I can retcon stuff I don't mind the speed.

I usually don't mind retconing as well but I also do not want to halt thing while I go investigate other things that I thought were interesting and possibly re-directing the party (usually backtracking) so that room we were about to search was in fact not discovered yet.

and as long as before any combat we have the chance to position ourselves at the start of the fight before anything happens (including possible surprise rounds) I may not want to take the lead into a room if I suspect something is amiss.

so looking at the map, what about that kitchen? Kayla would probably want to check that out.

oh and as far as the stuff we found in the dead adventurer's room (the one with the blocked door), I just stuffed it all in my pack, cause I can carry lots, if Kayla wants the ball of twine (I believe there was only 1) I will happily give it to her.

I'll leave the bot decision to the GM. I originally thought that pushing things forward would make the game better, but it turned out that I was making people unhappy/angry without realizing it, so for me, better to just wait and let other people enjoy the game rather than risking that again. Inclusion is always a good choice anyway. We can just say that Zadira's near death experience with the snake and her still-lingering Con damage made her a lot more timid, so now she is hanging behind because she feels more vulnerable. I added a bunch of notes to the map yesterday, and I'll post officially tonight (within my 24 hour time period) if Elion doesn't pop in by then.

... So far, some pretty hilarious gaming. I especially enjoyed the snake meat picnic, the making the out of order door into toothpicks, and reading about the slime fishing yesterday was pretty funny. I'm sure it will continue to be enjoyable even with a much slower pace.

I sometimes do not mind a little quick pace as long as I can understand the flow of events.

now that I have the map pretty much showing what happened, I better inclined to deal with it.

but at first I looked at the map and we were someplace new and I had no idea how we got there and what route we took.

Our company got us all eclipse viewing glasses so we could watch. :)

And too bad about the Perseids. They are really cool. We went camping one night in college during the shower, sleeping out under the stars, and I still remember how amazing it was.

Good question. For me, I think it is too meta for me to continue with the slime. It's gross, I don't see anything in there, and we've been to most of the places around it. Only reason for me to continue there would be because as a player I can see there is a room we missed. :)

So, my vote is go check out the one door that is still unopened on this path still (north of here).

What do others think? I don't mind burning more slime for you if people really want to search the room... I have 6 more 1st level spells I could use, or if someone has the spark cantrip, that would make it easier.

from what I see, yes, lets check the door north of us.

we may have to deal with that big pit trap though to continue on, or follow that tunnel at the bottom of that other pit, after that door.

that may have sounded confusing, so I say

1. check the door (and what is beyond)
2. deal with pit to get access to the other hallway

I rolled a dungeoneering check when we first ran across the pit, and I critted the check, so I learned that we could get to the hallway through the North door. ... But if you think it would be more fun, I bet you could do some acrobatics to get over there instead. :)

Grelthe does have the spark cantrip, I was toying with the idea of seeing if the slimes were flammable, but... didn't. :p

And if Zadira is drawing a map as we go, she might notice there is a blank spot in her map...?

Well, yeah, blank spot, but look at the whole rest of the map. It isn't like there isn't dead space elsewhere.

If we come back to collect Kayla's slime in a jar (with something that will actually hold it--not a jar), then maybe we should try the spark thing. Our reason could be just burning the evil out of the place. :)

I was going to delete the older arrows, but then I checked last Elion was on was when we had our snake lunch, so I was going to leave them up until Monday for him.
