anyone got any handy tricks to increase caster level? I've been googling but it seems many threads are outdated or in contention.

Looking for flat increase to caster level, or solutions that increase caster level with the caveat of "but not above HD".

Long story short I have a SoP caster in my IRL game that is starting to see some things with SR that are becoming problematic, so I am looking for things in Pathfinder (SoP is kinda weak on CL increases) that will convert. Therefore, nothing that only works with a particular spell or school, etc. Things that boost CL vs SR are nice, but I'd also like to boost actual CL as well.

Hmm. SoP has a TON of caster level boosters, but most are sphere-specific (such as staves). The best workaround I can think of is keeping your offensive effects to 1-2 spheres, or getting a sphere effect that hits spell resistance. Casting Traditions can be powerufl too, but it's more of a game-start thing.

Yeah, playing an Armorist (Soaring Blade) and I have Telekinesis maxed but i'd like to have a little bit better than 1/2 level on Enhance & Destruction.

We are doing some retraining as a group so some other silliness does interest me if i can fit it in. But it all kinda depends on getting a caster level higher than 1/2 for any other Spheres. I was hoping for something like the old feat (i think) in 3.5 where you got +4 CL that couldn't exceed your HD.

There used to be that feat in one of the playtests of SoP, but it got errata'd out on account of breaking the game like all hell.

Hedgewitch with full CL mega OP.

That said, there's a trait that grants +2 to CL up to HD, Magical Knack or something like that, that if your group will let you use, you might wanna pick additional traits up for.

yeah i do like the Hedgewitch class and it is crazy with higher CL. I'm sure Magical Knack will be fine in the group. We are going through a "retraining montage" due to party members not being as well-suited to the challenges of our enemies as others and wanting to synergize more.

Okay, still trying to figure this out (and distracted! I'm traveling to a conference or vacation something else every other week from the beginning of march until the end of may).

Where is the party going next? I think it makes the most sense to keep everyone together in order to keep momentum.

Greater Teleport at will. I can just teleport to one of the boundaries (supposing their diplomat actually told us where their place was located), and then fly in.

The Black Desert is... big. Closest boundary to Shraen you can actually teleport into (their location/boundaries aren't actually a secret!) is gonna be about 300 miles away, though yeah Dris could wind walk everyone there quickly.

I'm wondering if we need to find our way across 300 miles of poisonous desert. I mean, getting to them to talk in person would only serve so much, unless we load Dris up with slaves in bags of holding or something.

The Black Desert is reasonably high-ceilinged as a cavern, and you've already heard that it's infested with purple worms. Do people want to fly near the cavern ceiling?

Hi, guys. To all my games: sorry I've been such a butt lately.

Basically, I was away from the internet for a while, but before and after that, I've been writing so much for work that PbP just felt like a chore. And I've come to realize that while I love my job, right now it's just not leaving me the time and creative energy I need forPbP, so, while I've sort of been sliding down that slope for a while, I figured I should actually tell all my games that I've gotta drop out.

Sorry to disappoint and potentially leave a bunch of people hanging at the end there, and I hope I was generally fun.

I was curious how you all would feel if I tried to recruit a specific GM to take over for us.

I am thinking of asking either Rednal or Storyteller Shadow.

Thoughts??

On the one hand, I do dearly love the memories we made with this roleplay.

On the other hand, I can't help but think maybe we reached the point where the roleplay collapses under its own logistics.

Perhaps it's simply pessimism, as we've had quite a few full stops or dry spells with this roleplay. I'm starting wonder if it has just gotten too big to be manageable. I know I would struggle to GM for simply one of our characters, with all their world altering power, much less all of them. Then again, simply because I can't do something doesn't mean I should think no one can.

That's why I'm only going to ask Rednal or Storyteller Shadow.

Both of them are proven STs, who have ran(or are running) big sweeping, games with crazy powerful PCs.

One thing I do realize however, is that I don't think we should actually continue this specific game(Unless the GM is totally OK with that).

I think it would be a good idea to take us planar, or out and beyond just our little corner of the Darklands.

I'm down. I probably wouldn't continue with Inubrix. I made him when those rules were new and exciting, and now they no longer excite me. I am all about Spheres of Might now, since they just came out.

Also i made Inubrix with a mistake i do more often than i would like to admit, and that is making a character that doesnt interact well with others and thus is often silent. i have to pledge to not do that with my next character haha (and let me know if i fail again)!

Ah, Spheres of Might. That was a fun though experiment that very, very quickly broke down. If you're not explicitly playing to have fun, it's horribly easy to break, even worse than PoW.

"Alright, I'm a level five, and I've got a +15 initiative mod, and I sacrifice my focus to throw two acid flasks, move action regain it by petting my cat, swift action throw another acid flask. Take 90 acid damage, no save, in a 20 ft radius, and half that again at the start of your next turn."

Talked to Anaxian via PM, and he brought up a good point about the insane power levels we reached towards the end.

Before I message one of the above GMs, would we be willing to come down in power some?

Also, what sort of game would we all like to play moving forward? Personally, I think taking our PCs planar would be a lot of fun.

Do we want to keep the kingdom building aspect? I personally enjoy that, but I realize it's not for many(most).

Would we eventually like to go mythic(or maybe even begin that way, with a decrease in power otherwise) Epic?(Ie post 20 levels/hd)

Any other suggestions?

Howdy, all. Since this thread is no longer active in my games tab I hadn't been paying attention to it.

I'd love a chance to reprise this group. It was a lot of fun. My concerns were mostly about how much the system breaks down at high levels. Normal characters struggle just to keep things straight after 15th level. These characters are a whole other order of magnitude worse. I enjoy playing powerful characters, but I enjoy it most when they still feel like the underdogs and have to really think to come out on top. That's a hard balance to maintain.

Planar adventures would be a good fit. That allows for the over the top nonsense we have come to expect without really needing to worry about upsetting the Golarion status quo too much.

The kingdom building aspect was interesting to me from a story perspective, but boring from a mechanical perspective. If we were to keep that, I'd prefer to cut the mechanics and just wing it. That system can't handle the kind of stuff we can do anyway.

I'd be ok with Mythic under some very tight constraints. Like, disregard mythic tiers entirely, and just have every single mythic power or feat be it's own individual story reward upgrade to something that is already thematically appropriate. (Also, no mythic power attack or vital strike, and no Amazing Initiative or any ability that lets you pick any spell you want on the fly. Those abilities in particular break the game wide open)

re:SoM: wow i havent seen all those combos yet. Then again, i have been looking at specific ideas and havent really been looking past level 5 since i dont have any games that are higher than that at the moment that would bring new material in.

as for THIS group, i'd probably need help finding combos like that just to keep up. I haven't been a power gamer since the swap from 3.5 to PF.

As for kingdom building, i could take it or leave it.

as for mythic, i'd REALLY rather leave it. I just dont like those rules. but i will play with it if everyone else wants to. if we played with mythic, i agree with Anaxian on the constraints. Also agree with her/him on the kingdom building.

I'd be willing to come down in power, but minus the astral projected unkillable bit, she's not that powerful compared to the others. She's got a built in reset button, but her offensive capabilities are paltry in comparison to the others.

- Planar would be a fantastic fit for Meredian. She can already basically do that.
- Mythic: I like mythic, but It is a total shift in the power gaming move. For simplicity I think we should keep mythic as is, but everything should require DM approval. There's too much stuff to try to cover it all in advance.
- Kingdom building: I also agree with Anaxian. Basically just Ditch the system and make it free form. It can't really keep up with us anyhow. Alternately, if you wanted to keep the system then the DM could just decide what you get based on your ideas. Upkeep phases and such wouldnt really be needed. Players would just say, "I want to do X." then the DM would let them know how long it takes and who it may impact.

I don't think we need mythic, but I do love the idea of story rewards, especially ones that give you sidegrades, or new non-combat abilities.

Like jumping across miles? Super fun ability to have that doesn't particularly warp the combat scene. Even if Illia- doesn't even sorta need it.

I agree with Kingdom Building moving to narrative style. Our characters warp that space far too much for it to work mechanically.

As far as power goes, hell, I'd be down for just rolling base Erinyes again. All the PoW shenanigans sure make me better at murderizing stuff, but it's not like it's added new dimensions to the character other than being REALLY good at murderizing stuff.

Albeit, I did like having better offense than Anaxian's minions. Before PoW I felt like an especially tanky Anaxian minion whose primary use was True Sight.

Rednal is currently full on games atm, as is Shadow. Off the top of my head, I don't think I personally know any other GMs I would trust with this game.

If I was to try my hand at GMing something like this, I'd definitely need to wind us all the way back to start as far as power goes. I can't imagine trying to GM for CR 17 who've beaten demon lords.

Yea. Her “monster class” stuff is basically just the extraordinarily expensive magic item that maintains her immortality (greater demiplane, mind blank, astral projection). It doesn’t have combat ability beyond maybe being a suicide bomber or something.

Seeing as how a Bralani is CR 6, and the template(which is kinda essential) is CR 2(modded down to 1, I believe or something I forget), Dris kinda requires at least a couple of levels.
