The pace of this game is pretty impressive. Got back from my 3 day Christmas trip and found 25 new posts.

Catching up now.

It's allright, it could be slightly faster, but it's nice to post only once or twice a day in order to be able to really put some effort into each post. I'm in another game that's going much faster, and it's kindof different. With that character I feel less like a writer and more like someone who's just playing a game. There's still character development, but for PbP to go really fast you do have to lose some of it's natural advantages which let people develop story and character more.


Still a few hours away from enough time for me to post, but I'm assuming three are underwater and 2 are waiting up top.

Hmm... I think I have to back up and redo my last post. I forgot about the dancing lights, which changes things significantly.

Man, but it was so interesting when it was dark!

lol, I'll get something worked up. Not sure what the protocol is but I may just rewind and let you guys post new actions.

Things happen. I had to undo an entire surprise round and first round of combat because I forgot about an ability before.

It's also nice to know that it's a small <guessing creature identity> and not, say, a large one.


How can the rules possibly make a morningstar a better underwater weapon than a greatsword?

I'm going to assume Cerise is not going in that water, which makes this a pretty good time for you to be on vacation. Someone needs to go in that water for sure.

I'll just assume Cerise leaves them a Dancing Lights underwater but otherwise hangs out in dry territory.

Since 8am Saturday morning, you, Kael, Pythia, and GM_LCF have made 29 posts. Just a little bit faster than I've been able to follow and post before it gets superseded.


I was trying to push the underwater section since it was kind of cutting off two of the characters. I can pace it back a little now that the group is back together.

Checking in. I've had even less time than I expected to during this trip. I haven't been able to check gameplay, but from the gist I've picked up in this thread it seems like the group has things well in hand.


Yeah, you got all the loot. Found the red lantern. Now just to head upstairs and either mess with the lanterns now that you have the set, or resume turning the sarcophagus and eventually make your way back to the brown mold.

Did we still have any oil left after the swarm? Otherwise, we probably can't light all the lamps at the same time.


You used the two you had in the group iirc. I don't know if anyone has any candles, but you might be able to get creative with magical light.

I've got ten candles, a stick of charcoal, and, inexplicably, a pound of sealing wax. Not sure why, but wax burns, right?


Candles aren't very bright though. Maybe multiple candles could work.

What about one candle with multiple wicks?


I feel like we might need to consult the realism police on that one.

My guess is the fuel supply is the same for one wick as it is for more so it wouldn't change much. But I could be wrong.


I'm so glad you asked!

Instead of using dumb torches, which smoke a lot and set things on fire, and also run out and are hard to replace, people used oil lamps with lots of wicks. Example.

I don't know what happens when you put multiple wicks on a candle, but it's probably brighter.


I guess if you put the wicks in a big circle, it could space them out enough to use the same fuel source efficiently. It would burn out much faster though.

Just how wide are these candles you have?

I'd rather mess with the sarcophagus further, and keep exploring each turn before lighting the lanterns anyway.


One (or two) sarcophagus turn coming up shortly. Hopefully I find time in an hour or so. Otherwise in 7 hours I'll be home.
