Ah, Crimson Throne... couldn't read on, as I might soon be a player in a CotCT campaign... Given the lengths of the journal entires, looks like a great campaign!
No doubt everyone's been busy in the lead up to Christmas, so might not be much more posting until the year. If not, I hope everyone has a safe and merry christmas and happy new year.
Wishing safe and happy holidays to all. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to check in between now and January 3rd... so if the game starts rolling again, don't let me hold things up!
BUT, being the stoopid 1am poster that I am, I no sooner clicked the 'submit' button than I realized I had forgotten to make that one, very important, edit to the item! :P
Ah well,... At least I tried, which is more than I can say for the last two years! ;)
I am looking for six quality players for a low level pbp I am starting, sign up here if you are interested.
Cheers
Thanks for the invitation, FW. I unfortunately can't commit, at this point in time. Two PbPs, the real life game I DM, work, and the rest of real life are about all I can handle right now...
<WARNING> <WARNING>
THIS UNIT SHALL BE OFFLINE (at home at least) UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
WHILE THIS UNIT ATTEMPTS TO CONSTRUCT A DIABOLICAL 'DO-IT-YOURSELF' FURNITURE UNIT
(IN other words, I have to take apart my little PC corner while I try to put together my new monster-desk. I HOPE to get it done tonight, but reality says it will take a couple of days. SO posts will be relegated to work hours.)
Heh, it wasn't (quite) as bad as I had thought, though it IS large, and it looks GOOD!
Too bad I have to ruin the beauty by putting all of my Cr@p back onto it!
;P
ROFLMAO!
Me too!
I'm reminded of Doctor Who (Third Dr, 'The Dandy', when he put together 'Bessie', his turbo-charged Model-T. Yes, that's right Turbo-charged Model-T. HE had 'spare bits' left over too!) ;)
I’m on holidays for a week from tomorrow through to next Saturday. I’m not sure what, if any internet access I’ll have over that time. I’ll update if and when I can, but its possible things might be a bit slow for the next week or so.

Going anywhere nice and got room for another?
I went to Vanuatu for a week, it was great and very relaxing.
When I started this game, I proposed to give only half experience for combat and other challenges, but make up for this by giving roleplaying xp and story awards.
As the game progresses, I think it might be easier and fairer just to award full xp for challenges and combats with maybe the occasional bonus here and there. This avoids arbitrary decisions on my part and disadvantage to players whose characters might have less of a vibrant personality, who might not be able to post as much or whatever.
I also think its easier and probably fairer if everyone has the same amount of xp for the most part.
As such, I’d like everyone to adjust their current experience point total to 8500 experience points (this becomes your new current xp, not what you get on top of whatever you already had!).
So we haven't seen Arctaris for about six months ... I hope he's ok, but I assume he won't be returning to the game. As such, I've invited someone else to take over his character - is that ok with everyone?

Does this suit everyone?
Sounds fair to me and helps me out as I have no idea what EXP I was on before.
1) These characters are 3.5? Correct?
2) What is the required experience for the next level? 10k?
Sorry for the questions but my 3.5 books got packed away and the experience chart is not OGL so does not appear on any of the sites.

If so, he'll probably join you soon.
Fine with me, as is your new approach to XP... will make adjustments this evening.

Will adjust ASAP,
(BTW, busy tomorrow, (Fri) my bday, but working all dang day & night,... ;P)
AND Welcome stranger! (Coming from me, that's probably a compliment,...) ;)
The new player (assuming he's interested) is Brashen, who playes, well, Brashen in my Whispering Cairn game and played Al in the now defunct / on hold Howl of the Carrion King game.

I was just reviewing my skill ranks and noticed that I had only 40 ranks, when I should have a at least 43 -- keeping in mind that until I reached level 4, I had an intelligence penalty that resulted in the loss of 1 skill point per level.
I think I may have forgotten to add the additional skill point for being human from levels 2 through 4. With your permission, I'll add those 3 points rights away.
I was wondering, though... does an increase in intelligence result in retroactive nullification of the previous penalty? In other words, should I gain an additional +6 skill points for the ranks that were lost from levels 1 to 3 due to the Int penalty? If yes, should I add those points right away as well?
That’s cool, go ahead and add those three missing ranks. In 3.5 you do not retroactively add skill points for an increased intelligence score – PHB page 10 (I think they may have changed this in Pathfinder so that you do).
By the way, Brashen (who will be taking over Alton) is having some internet access problems, but I think he’s almost ready to go and should be joining us soon.
Don’t be too hard on yourself mate, I doubt that is the case.
Anyway, don’t worry too much about the spell updating, we can move on without that. Actually, I only just realised a few days ago, the rules actually allow spellcasters who prepare spells to prepare spells at any point in the day (ie, not just after resting). You can even prepare some of your daily spells at one time, and the rest later (quite useful if you’re not sure, first thing in the morning, what sort of challenges you might be facing that day, but have an opportunity to research or find out later on).
I don’t know how much of the game thread you’ve read through (if any), but this is set in my dark ages campaign world (you know the one).
Alton knows all the rest of the party. They were recently attacked at dawn by the forces of an Inquisitor (Vorn). The party was victorious, killing the many of the Artonite troops, including Vorn’s hunt-master and tracker Atrek, and forcing the rest to flee.
After the battle, the group explored the area they were camping (the remains of a ruined tower on top of a small hill) and found a hidden trap door to an underground tomb. By this point, Alton’s player had left the game, so I ruled that he didn’t like the idea of going down there (maybe claustrophobia or afraid of dark places, or just had a bad feeling about it, or thought someone needed to keep watch up top).
The others had been down there for about half an hour when Alton spotted some of the enemy survivors coming back up the hill, presumably trying to finish off the party in a surprise attack. He tried to call out (softly) for the others down the hole, but they didn’t hear him. So he quickly closed the trapdoor (and brushed sand and dirt over the top of it to hide it) and snuck down the other side of the hill to hide in the woods nearby (after all, he couldn’t take them all on himself).
Alton found a good hiding spot, but unfortunately he could not see the hill from his hiding spot, so he couldn’t see if the soldiers were gone. Despite the tension of the situation it had been a long and tiring morning, and he soon fell asleep.
When he awoke, a few hours must have passed. He returned to the hill top – there were no sign of the soldiers and no sign of his friends, but the trap door was open again. It looked like it had been opened from the inside, so he assumed that his friends had gotten out (rather than the soldiers finding it and gone in), but he didn’t know where they had gone. Short of any other ideas, he finds somewhere to hide nearby where he can see the hill top and the ruined tower, and waits for his friends to (hopefully) return.
Heads up on availability -- I probably won't be able to post much (if at all) between February 10-17. Moth, feel free to NPC Keildrithe as required...
Going anywhere interesting?
Yes and no. I had real life gaming sessions on the nights of the 11th and 12th, and then went out of town with my girl for the long weekend-- stayed in a rustic mountain cabin for a couple of nights, and enjoyed some fine dining, snowshoeing and hot springs! Upon our return, we attended a campaign rally on the 16th (I'm not usually the type, but felt the issues currently facing our province warranted my attendance), and tonight I have a condo board meeting... but somehow, I still managed to post sooner than I expected to be able to! Really can't keep me away from a good game for long... :-)
