Yu Khan |
Well, damn.
I attempt to stabilize myself.
Stabilization Attempt: 1d20 ⇒ 12 DC17 Con check. Failed, -8hp
Bulvi |
Zombies, why did it have to be zombies?
Bulvi turned his head down the path and bellowed "We're under attack!" He dropped his javelin, he needed to close the gap as quickly as possible to give Yu Khan the best chance.
Barreling through the debris of the ambush site he drew his long sword. Alexia knew her skills better than he did so he bit back the instinct to get her to drag back Yu Khan, her magics might yet fell the zombie. He just focused on closing the gap. Instead he settled for letting out a deep roar, perhaps it would attract the zombie's attention which he was loathe to do but Yu's life might depend on it.
Findurêl |
GM, since he 's only 60' away, can Findurel hear the attack at the carriage?
Yu, Findurel can use your wand to heal you, can't get their this round, but maybe next...we need to draw the zombies away from you though...
Quasit* |
As the log plows into the small of her back, Quasit can hear the sick *thunk* of the cracking of ribs. She cries out in pain, and stumbles back a few steps.
"Ow! Dammit! Rookie mistake!" she hisses at herself disapprovingly.
Then she hears Yu screaming for help behind her.
"Argh! Now what?"
Crossbow still in hand, she goes loping back toward the road, holding her side with her other hand, and biting her lip hard to keep from crying out herself again. She looks for a good spot to hide and snipe at the attackers.
GM, Ideally I'd like to move 30' and then attempt stealth if I can find cover 30' from the zombies. If there is no cover that close, I'll move 30' and then drop the crossbow and draw my short sword, and look for an opening next round.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Sakitu |
At the first sign of attack Sakitu grabs her shortbow. She draws an arrow on the string and aims at the closest zombie she can see. The arrow sails harmlessly above everyone's heads and into the forest.
"I'm going to need to do better than that!" she says to herself.
Shortbow@red,into melee: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 4 = 3
Findurêl |
Knowing time is of the essence for Yu, Findurêl dashes over to get closer to the wounded bard, so he can try to heal him next round, hoping his companions can hold off the zombies long enough for him to do so...
GM Sapphire Fox |
Quasit, and Rindurel, the shouting about the zombie attack, happen after your turns, there wasn't a loud ring of combat yet to really alert you to the fight, Zombies took down Yu before he screamed for help

Red dropped Yu
Green moved
Quasit approached chest, hit by log trap

Sakitu fires an arrow and misses

no problem, then for the moment I'm still by the log trap and I just heard Bulvi yell, and I'll act on my initiative next round.
Findurêl |
Since Findurêl won't hear Bulvi's shout till after his turn, he will go to Quasit's side to check on her...

Quasit fires her crossbow at Red Zombie.
ranged attack vs target in melee: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 4 = 15damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4
"HEY STUPID" she shouts. "Over here! I've got yummier brains!
Then she drops her crossbow and pulls her short sword, wincing as the twist in her torso aggravates her broken ribs. "I must be insane." she growls.
Findurêl |
Findurel will move 30' closer and fire at the injured (red) zombie, if it still stands, otherwise, the blue one...
Longbow: 1d12 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 7 - 4 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
If the red zombie drops, he'll yell, "Alexia, try to stabilize Yu!"
GM Sapphire Fox |
Quasit and Findurel both fire and hit the red zombie square in the chest but he seems unphased by the arrows sticking out of him

Might not make a difference but mine was a Cold Iron arrow...I don't have regular arrows...sorry, should've mentioned that in my attack regardless...
Bulvi |
Bulvi winced as he hurled himself beneath the carriage hoping the abomination wouldn't take advantage of the easy target. Yu needed help and as loathe as he was to leave Alexia without his help the other's were arriving and Yu might not last long as it was.
Moving through threatened square of red zombie provoking attack of opportunity AC20
Once under the carriage he dropped his sword and shield onto the ground and tried to help Yu.
Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
...so close, I guess it's down to Yu then... Prone and not using the shield for now he'll be at a mere 14 AC but will likely have some level of concealment.

Sakitu |
Even from where she's at, Sakitu can see that Yu is near death. She yips in frustration then aims her bow at the closest zombie again. At the same time she strides forward over the snowy ground.
Shortbow@red,into melee: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 2 - 4 = 14

damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
green is going to double move
Bulvi |
I had assumed Bulvi would have had to drop his sword to do first aid, I'll gladly take the attack if that isn't so.
And uh I think Alexia is in negatives since she was at -1
GM Sapphire Fox |
true you did mention you dropped it, my apologizes, and Alexia is at -9 right now, she was at 1 to start with then took 10

Sakitu |
You said that Sakitu hit red but I didn't see a change in the damage for red. So either there was DR or you forgot to update the damage on red. Also, with 9 dmg to me, I'm at 0. So I'm disabled. Can I 5-foot step and do a standard?
GM Sapphire Fox |
Knowledge religion to find out, and from everything I was reading, and if another GM knows it to be different or proof, you can take a 5' as a non-action movement, and still do a standard and just fyi you are considered half-speed
Findurêl |
I'm guessing these zombies are DR5...we know Cold Iron's no good...perhaps it's Silver but that'd be rough on a first-level party as it's expensive...may have to strike with acid flasks or fire...
Quasit* |
Seeing the zombie running at her, Quasit grimly flips the shortsword in her hand and cricks her neck once sharply.
"All right then, let's dance b#%%#," she snarls.
She steps forward, dekes right, then swings around going for an upward thrust into the zombie's chest.
5 foot step, then Feinting as a move action, then going for an attack. Sneak damage if she succeeds on the feint.
bluff check to feint: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

yeah, i think you tpk'd us on the first encounter. Grats, GM
Feyathala NightFire |
not my intention, and if it turns into a tpk it is my apologies

yeah, i think you tpk'd us on the first encounter. Grats, GM
Well, I wouldn't go that far. While yes, Pathfinder does allow for, and encourage scaling of encounters based on group makeup and such, the GM can do what he wants. Equally to blame is the fact that the group split up. Had we all stuck together there would be a greater chance of survival.
Sakitu |
Sakitu barely stays on her feet as she takes a quick step backwards, away from the zombie. Then with a last surge of energy she blasts the zombie with magical energy. With that, she collapses to the ground.
magic missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
That standard action takes me to -1. I'm not giving up yet. If my magic missile drops the red, then the rest of you might be able to finish off green. Then out of round time I think someone can UMD enough to heal us. It's a hope...
GM Sapphire Fox |
I will admit, I didn't change the first encounter, I usually don't to see how the group functions together, afterwords I adjust it accordingly, Sakitu you will find out after Findurel
Yu Khan |
Rangers can use CLW wands. That's our best hope right now. Alex has three rounds if she doesn't stabilize.
Thats not the question. The question is, do we actually have something that can hurt them?
Bulvi |
Bulvi saw Alexia fall trying to save Yu who's glassy stare looked at him. He had done Yu no good, Alexia had fallen. From beneath the cart he saw Sakitu stumble backwards and unleash her mystical energies at the zombie lurching towards her. She began to fall towards the ground. He didn't have time to see if the zombie would fall from her arcane assault, grabbing his sword and shield he rolled towards the zombie. If it tried to pursue her then he'd attempt to strike it down.
Perhaps the zombie would go for him as a new threat. Trying to heal people wasn't what he was good at, he needed to play to his strengths and start putting enemies down.
Findurêl |
Conditional move...if Red is still standing, Findurel will advance to the spot north of Sakitu drawing an acid flask as he does, and throws it at red...if red is down, he'll toss it at green, and move to the same spot afterwards...
Acid flask: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
GM Sapphire Fox |
Alexia, you don't need to do the -9, the DC you are looking for is 10+ your negative hp
