Round 7

The deep gnome hands Cladissa his potion and says in his small, thin voice, "Up, up, and away." A shadowy ball, an anti-willowisp, starts climbing out of the tremch.

Cladissa moves to Nyugusk and kneels beside him, pulling his head up into her lap. She checks his vital signs quickly, assessing the damage the poison has wrought. She starts to pour the potion down his throat, but pauses. She notices the flasks on his belt, then yanks a familiar one she has seen him use numerous times. She unstoppers it and pours that one down his throat, causing a pale aura to glow about his mouth.

Then she clenches his throat with one hand before administering Hrimnagel's potion, letting it fill his mouth, but not letting him swallow. Okay, spit now, she says gently, hoping she did that right.

Giving Nyug a dose of his alchemical allocation before using the potion of lesser restoration to get a couple uses out of it.

I think technically you can't administer one of my extracts, and I can't use it when I'm unconscious. It's OK though--I can use it myself since I have 3 potions of lesser restoration I crafted and can use it one on of them (or have a second level slot left open that I can use to brew one)

Nyug wakes to a familiar taste in his mouth and reacts reflexively. He moves to get up and finds the world spinning while the soreness in his gut feels like he'd been run over by a tarrasque.

Slowly realizing what has happened, he groans "thank...you..." to Cladissa and takes three more iron vials from his belt and drinks one of them, keeping the other two gripped in his surprisingly dextrous pincers.

Currently at 5/12 CON, 14/18 HP. Used Hrim's potion and one of mine. Two remaining.

Round 7

Thrassk runs up to the remaining drow archers, and tries to bite the closest one. The terrified drow manages to dodge the attack.

The elementals continue their assault and surge through the earth to the remaining drow. One of them delivers a bone shattering punch to the nearest one's shoulder blade.

Argor returns to the upper plateau, his hand crackling with blue energy. He levels a finger at the unengaged drow and sends a small blue beam square into the man's forehead, though it hardly seems to phase him.

The deep gnome hands Cladissa his potion and says in his small, thin voice, "Up, up, and away." A shadowy ball, an anti-willowisp, starts climbing out of the trench.

Cladissa moves to Nyugusk and kneels beside him, pulling his head up into her lap. She checks his vital signs quickly, assessing the damage the poison has wrought. She pours Hrimnagel's potion, letting it fill his mouth.

The drow attempt to escape Thrassk and the elementals, but the raging dragon bites one of their heads off. The remaining drow steps gingerly off the grease and reloads his bow, firing a defiant shot at Argor.

Cladissa does what she can for Nyug's injury. If it's apparent that the fighting is over on the ridge, she will search through the belongings of the two drow women, looking for clues about why they would be waiting in ambush as well as any valuables worth taking.

"Uuuuggghh, that all happened...so...quickly." After two potions, Nyug is able to sit up enough at least to lean against the wall of the ravine. As he speaks, a last few green bubbles emerge from his mouth.

"I have two more of these," he says, holding up the potions. "And can make a couple more right now. I'm sure I could make use of all of them but...what happened once I went down? Did anyone else get poisoned?"

Nyug can take 2 rounds to use his Alchemical Allocation to double one of the poitions for himself, and take another minute to brew an extract of Lesser Restoration. If Hrim wants one potion to replace his, Nyug will consume three and give Hrim the fourth. If not, Nyug will take all four.

Lesser Restoration (x3): 3d4 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) = 5
Lesser Restoration (for Hrim, unless he declines): 1d4 ⇒ 2

Three brings him to CON 10/12, HP 29/33; four would bring him to CON 12/12, HP 34/38.

As an aside...just now remembered there are rules for how multiple doses of poison stack. It would've still been nasty--duration *1.5, DC+2--but not quite as fast. Way too late to retcon at this point, of course.

Hrim will decline to enable Nyug heal fully.

Oh! Didn't realize that, sorry. I'll try to keep that in mind next time we encounter poison.

Thrassk licks his face and armor clean of blood, then descends back down to the path, this time on the stairs. He approaches the others. "I am glad to see you all healthy. I was worried that friend Nyugusk was dead!" The dragon man grabs Nyugusk, crushing him in a bear hug. "Well...drow aside, are you all ready to continue following the map? Might I suggest Hrimnagel also fly above us with Argor? It would double our chances of spotting an ambush from above."

Argor scans the area one last time for further threats before lowering himself down close to the ground.

"Yes, if these insolent fools have nothing on them to give us any insight into why they are here, or anything that could be of use, then we should proceed."

One of the antipaladins has a map in a small pouch on her belt that eerily mirrors the map in Rysha’s journal, though all of the instructions are written in undercommon and the map starts in Diobel instead of Absalom. Other than that and their combat gear, the drow have nothing of interest.

Any of the text stand out to Argor?]

Nope, just instructions on where to go. Same as the other map you already have.

Hrim nods to the dragon behind his obscuring shadows and then takes to the air. He wants a headstart knowing that Argor can catch him.

Several hours travel up the mountain after the drow encounter, the Pathfinders find a small valley containing two ancient, ruined towers. The corpse of a single drow warrior stripped of his gear lies in the middle of the path—evidence that the drow were here and faced something deadly.

Updated Roll20.

Let me scout, the deep gnome requests from the team.

From an altitude of 40 feet (in the blue bubble), Hrim approaches and scans the drow corpse for Evil in case it is an undead lying in wait for it next victim. Assuming no Evil, he continues to steadily climb at a 45 degree angle to fly above the towers and have a peek, still detecting for Evil.

Cladissa tests the air from where she stands, hoping that the air in the valley will carry the scents to her. Then she moves to take some cover behind the boulder lying near the path. She studies the towers, trying to get an idea of how easily they would be to climb.

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16

The dead drow does not detect as evil, and has nothing on it except yet another copy of the same map the Pathfinders already have. Cladissa can't smell any recent scents that stand out from the general background of the mountain's odors.

Hrimnagel ascends until he can see the two towers, and receives a shock when he sees two horrible beasts perched on the back sides of the towers. The winged monsters have the bodies of lions, though two more heads flank their central feline one—a dragon and a horned goat. One of the creatures has a red dragon head. The other has a blue dragon head.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 121d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

The monsters appear to be dozing lightly and haven't noticed Hrimnagel or the rest of the team yet.

Is it possible to coup de grace with a spell?

Only if it includes an attack roll I'd say.

Expecting more discussion, Hrim finally and quietly weighs in, "Those beings look large and like they can fly. As opposed to getting close, I'd prefer to stay at range from them with my bow. I could act as bait to draw them into an ambush of Thrassk and Argor's minions. What do you think?"

I don't like the thought of fighting both of them at the same time. I would posit that attempting to slay one or both of them as they slumber would be our most optimal means of diminishing our risk. We have faced too many dire threats thus far on this mission. She shakes her head. I mean, I think we should take advantage of this opportunity.

She frowns and looks down at Cole, who mews softly. Yes, I know I've only got chill touch. But it could work.

Argor hovers close to hear the description of the creatures, as well as listen to the plan. "While the evocation you name could do the trick, I have more faith in my ability to get close enough to the creature unseen to perform the actual task at hand, and have a much more powerful spell available that may prove more suitable for what we need. Do you think that you could tend to the other one, Hrimnagel?"

If able, I would "Hold the Charge" on a Scorching Ray after going invisible, then get as close as necessary to perform a CDG on the one with the blue dragon head.

Okay, let me be more clear. I just realized why you guys are talking about CDGing. You think they are asleep. Them "dozing" was just flavor text to explain their low perception rolls. To cdg them you'll need to make them helpless somehow first. Anyone other than Hrim going close to them in any way is probably going to tip them off that you're there.

"Hrim, how high off the ground were they? And did you by any chance see anywhere where we could potentially leap down at them from?" >> Wondering if I could reach either if I were Large and had either a 15 or 20' reach?

Finally, a good roll to identify them. How do we want to surprise them? Infantry (Thrassk & Nyug) moves up as far as they can. Artillery (Hrim) shoots one as soon as the infantry is detected? Can Hrim ready a standard and a swift to start Bane? If yes to both, Hrim will maneuver around and ready to shoot one of the beasties with bane when they look like they've detected the others.

Argor folds his arms after he gathers his preparatory scrolls and says, "I suggest, once we are prepared, Mr. Newblossom attempts to wrangle one down to the ground and keep it there while Thrassk and he rip it apart. Meanwhile, Hrimnagel attempts to keep the other one occupied while Cladissa and I use our magics to bring it down as quickly as possible. However, this entire plan hinges on your ability to keep the other one detained, Nyugusk."

Replace the Enlarge Person on Nyugusk with summoning a lantern archon.

The towers are 30' tall, and they were perched near the top. But they are 10' cubes, so a 10' cube person on the ground with 15'+ reach could reach them. Assuming they stay on the towers.

Anything cool I know from my massive knowledge roll?

Hrim will stay along the wall 40 ft up to stay out of any breath AoE. How high is the wall?

There are cliffs to either side, so probably a couple hundred feet. You're pretty high up in the mountains at this point.

So I've got Nyugusk moving towards them to engage, visibly, which will probably set off combat. Hrimnagel will be flying along the northern wall. Argor is summoning and then hanging back? Cladissa?

If Nyugusk were invisible, he might actually make it to them before they perceive him. Otherwise it's going to take a lot of luck for this not to be an initiative-off.
