As the group files out into the room, the whole of the thing becomes available to the eyes of those able to see its length. The humans can only see up to the second circle of light (as dim) based off Aula's light source.

The room is composed primarily of open floor, with a large stone slab dominating the western half. It looks like the room was used mostly for the preparation of the slaughtered livestock. There are two rows of smaller stone tables running parallel to the southern wall, possibly for smaller more refined prep. Just to the southeast there is an old, rusty, grate covering the opening to a wide set of stairs leading down into the darkness.

Bardigan runs one hand back through his thick black hair as he surveys the room. "Well, Rexus, I must say, I've been to nicer places before. Does our next stop happen to be the sewers by any chance?"

"A rat-infested slaughterhouse below a horse stable with access to the sewer? I think I'll avoid nearby taverns for a while", Larenti quipped darkly.

"Meanwhile, I'm going to check this northern wall for another hidden door. The upstairs was much bigger. Bardigan, would you keep an eye on that grate, please?"

Rexus moves in to stay near the light source provided by Aula as she moves to stay within Bardigan's general proximity. Larenti, instead, moves more northerly to examine the walls. It's not hard to tell that the odds of finding any hidden doors would be high. The wall is riddled with holes and small tunnels about the size of rats. It looks like they have been everywhere along the walls of this chamber, possibly drawn by the refuse of a slaughterhouse.

There is a hint of scrabbling within the walls, but it is quickly overtaken by the distant sound of an eerie tune played on what sounds to be like a pan pipe. The tune has an odd hint of both melancholy and anger. As the music grows only slightly louder, it stops, and suddenly, from the eerie silence there comes a flurry of activity within the walls to both the north and south. Suddenly a barrage of tiny rocks flies from various holes in the walls, and little disgusting creatures can just be seen within throwing them. These putrid-looking humanoids bear a disquieting resemblance to half-starved, mange-ridden opossums.

Though the PRD says diplomacy is generally ineffective in combat, I'm hanging my hat on that 'generally' here and crossing my fingers. Using diplomacy to make a request (stop throwing stones) with the hope things can settle enough for more time consuming applications of the skill.

Creative solution Understudy, but sadly...

Jinx calls forth another of her planar friends, but this time a much smaller one, into the spaces between the walls where the mangy creatures are hiding. The tiny frog lashes out at one of the little critters, but its bite seems completely disregarded by the one bitten.

No damage, no injury poison.

Ganner relies on his reliable method of dealing with trouble, moving up to punch the thing through the very hole it uses to throw rocks out of. He hits the thing a pretty solid blow, but it doesn't have the same give he's used to when dealing with punching other living creatures. All the same, the thing does look a little woozy from the hit.

Larenti follows Ganner in stepping up to the wall to try and fight the critters within. Even though the remains of the tunnel-ridden wall block most of the view to the things within, Larenti is still able to jab his skewer in to poke one of the things. Much like Ganner, he finds that his blade isn't near as effective as the strike should have been.

Bardigan tries to coax the things, and maybe even his allies, into a peaceful resolution. It appears that between the attacks and the disturbingly wicked cackle of the wall critters, he's not likely making headway.

Aula moves up to the wall next to the others, bringing the light with her, so that she can try and harry one of the creatures closer to Ganner for him to hit. As they mess with those on the North wall, they hear them speak to one another briefly. Then, the one to the west jumps out of the wall while the two of them on the eastern side focus on something, but due to the blocking wall there's no good way to get at them while distracted.

The one that jumped out starts to shudder a little, with a couple deep breaths, before he spits a line of putrid ochre vomit straight down the row of those against the wall. Larenti got hit by the brunt of it, but Aula managed to get away from it all, as did Ganner mostly by the grace of Larenti being an obstacle.

While they are thus distracted, the other two finish what they are doing, as two separate large puddles of some greasy substance appears under the north three.

Larenti, Aula, and Ganner need to make DC 9 Ref saves or fall prone. The Large brown spots are the effects of a grease spell.

The two on the bottom seem to be resigned to just continuing to fling broken rocks and chips of wall at Bardigan. One of them moves closer to get a straight shot, and it pays off, as it pelts Bardigan with a rock. The other one, in what seems like a raspy phlegm-heavy wheeze, misses due to his joy at the other one's hit.

Enemy 4, attack Bardigan 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22, 1 damage
Enemy 5, attack Bardigan 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Rexus seems frustrated by the nasty antics of the creatures, and he strides forward, "Let's see if this helps at all." He begins casting a spell, and from a wave of his hand, a rainbow of scintillating colors sprays forth. The laugh and ruckus stops as both creatures drop unconscious.

Bardigan grunts as another rock pelts him right in the middle of the forehead and the dashing noble looses his temper. "Stop! Throwing! STONES!" Brief rings of wind cut through the air around him as he shouts this last word, his tunic and cloak billowing out suddenly. Lines of fiery, molten light crack through his skin as his flesh blackens, looking as if thin streams of lava had burst to the surface. And, in the blink of an eye, Bardigan's familial resemblance to his aunt has never been more obvious.

Jinx shrugs off the general ineffectiveness of the summoned frog, and instead draws her own blade to move forward and stab into the walls at the wobbly creature. The thing, barely on its feet, gets run through heartily by the tiefling, the width of her blade splitting the creature in half.

Ganner, his only opponent in reach just split in two, moves over easily across the greasy puddles to try and hit the next closest one. Despite his sure footing, punching into a crumbling wall at another of the things proves difficult, and he fails to connect.

Larenti, having taken the full brunt of the foul thing's stomach contents and losing some of his own, the half-orc can only stagger off to the side to try and regain his composure.

Seeing that he can't reach the northward ones without having to splash through the puddles of slippery goo, he opts to rush south into the darkness where the two were just assailed by Rexus' wave of colors. Despite the display, the colors do not remain to light the darkness beyond Aula's small source, so Bardigan is left to stab as best he can where he remembers the things being before the light left. Ah, the vagaries of pbp. Before I go flailing about in the dark again, I can't find anything in the PRD regarding whether a flaming weapon sheds light or not. My next action would be to activate my hellfire strike ability and make my sword burst into (hopefully illumination-giving) flame, but if that won't provide suitable light I'll start firing shots with my bow.

Just a thought, if he has light, would Bardigan think to just coup de grace the unconscious ones, rather than attacking them?

Acrobatics DC 10 to move through grease: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Aula continues the dance-like maneuver she started when the grease appeared and she glides around Ganner and out of the grease. She reaches under her cloak and from behind her pulls a long, braided orange leather handle that is followed shortly by a length of similarly orange leather. She cracks the whip once, and with a glint in her eye looks over at the nearest creature.
Move to U-10, draw whip. She's also going to put the light where it will still give Ganner full light (so upper right of her square).

"Bardigan, be a dear and finish those two off, would you?" she casually calls to him with a wink over her shoulder.

As Aula dances out of the two earlier grease puddles, to draw a weapon allowing her to act from a distance.

The little thing that had braved coming out, decides to scurry back into the holes in the wall, and soon after another puddle of grease appears again under Aula. As it does, the one nearest Ganner scuttles over a little bit, lining up him and Aula, before it too uses the spew of vomit at them. Once again the two of them targeted easily skip aside of the putrid stream.

Ganner 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Aula 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 3 - 4 = 8

Rexus moves up beside Bardigan, drawing the blade from his sword cane out, and trying to line up a clear shot to make it a quick kill.

Larenti tried his best to calm his heaving stomach. He waved his rapier vaguely and unconvincingly towards the north wall.

reflex dc 9 for grease: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
The extra grease appearing under her momentarily catches the dancer off guard; she flails the whip she drew around over her head and its momentum barely allows her to stay upright.

For Ganner while he's at GenCon...
Ganner lashes out again with a flurry of slippery kicks!

For Bardigan's turn, he'll coup de gras as Aula recommended, if that's alright.

Jinx, being on the far side of a grease patch from a strikable enemy, waits to see just how the others fare before choosing a target. Ganner obliges by managing to strike twice through the holes in the wall. The first hit seems to have no effect on the thing, but the second one delivers a solid enough blow to knock this one unconscious just like the other before.

As Larenti continues to try and fight off the disgust of the vomit being all over him, Bardigan delivers a focused and precise kill to try and rid them of the foul things for good. Given what seems their natural resistance to common weapons, and the flickering light of the flaming blade, it is tough to tell whether he succeeded or not in his endeavor.

Bardigan, CdG's are auto crits, but saves are made based off the damage (if it isn't killed outright). So, damage is normally still rolled. I took your minimum damage, and it saved against that, so you will need to roll crit damage just to see what the DC really was.

Extra damage for crit: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 That brings the total to 18, so it looks like it saves provided 18 damage doesn't just outright kill it.

No, like roll a full crit's worth. So you still need another 1d8+3 (also, didn't you have a flaming property to add as well?) I counted your minimum as 8 (2d8+6), since minimum wasn't enough a roll was still needed.

Sorry, I figured we were just using the base damage I'd rolled here initially, which netted out to 14 pre-crit damage.

If that's not ok and you want another damage roll: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 3 + (5) = 11

Being unable to see any other targets, Jinx rushes across the room to join her nephew, ready to support him as needed.

Okay, yeah, I wasn't even thinking of the roll from before. Looking back, I could have also just rolled for you. I always forget that.

In a moment of flashing light, Bardigan is able to see that he had indeed run the little creature through, from throat to skull. Jinx moves over toward him and Rexus, looking to help mop up the little things for lack of any better targets.

Acrobatics DC 10 to move in Grease: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Aula moves shakily out of the grease on the floor and once again tries to support Ganner's attacks, this time with her whip. There is a sharp crack as the whip snaps against the wall near Ganner's head, but the attack is otherwise ineffective.
Move to T-12, assist Ganner on attack; enemy probably? has cover, but I will not account for it on my roll, so GM add to his AC if necessary. Edit: also missed AC 10 without cover so never mind =p

Aula moves to snap her whip at the remaining creature, but she comes up short in managing to adequately harry the thing. It doesn't seem to matter much, as the thing still decides that it is not ready to try and push the fight. It turns into the tunnel-ridden wall and scurries off between it, rushing away from the fight as fast as it can. Rexus tries to finish off the other unconscious thing, but he isn't able to produce an effective cut to put the thing down.

Bardigan spins around, now in the dark once more as flames upon his rapier die down. "What are these things? Besides troublesome and irksome and all the other '-some's?"

Bardigan shakes his head, still agreeing with his aunt. "Well if there are silver ravens or what have you here like Rexus says, we'll likely have to be rid of the pesky things sooner rather than later." He then scratches his head, moving back into Aula's light and his face is back to normal. "Do we have any more light by any chance?"

"Disgusting is what they were." the dancer says, looking with displeasure at her shoes. "As for more lights, I have candles, but they're hardly what you seek. Perhaps, Rexus dear, you can enchant something as I have?"

She watches as the group gathers together near the light, and raises her legs one at a time to shake some of the filth off her shoes.

Larenti finally stopped heaving. He straightened up, wiped his chin, and watched the banter of the others with half-focused eyes.

"I suppose I should see if there is any evidence of the Silver Ravens I might have vomited on."
