exploring does give XP

Male Human Paladin 1

Yes, I think we should know what's within a day's march of Oleg's before we explore further south. Then off to Yip's.

Which one do you take, East or West
Answer in Discussion thread, please.

Male Human Wizard 2

So after exploring 4 hexes, fighting two groups of bandits, having a non-violent encounter with a group of kobolds, and bringing a bag of radishes to Svetlana, we only have 530xp to show for it? This is going to be a long game.

Yep, that's why I am making recruitable and romance-able female characters, and with offspring of those that marry, encase there is a TPK or your characters get so old that the combat characters are weakened to uselessness

Male Human Wizard 2

I just thought we would have made 2nd level by now, but whatever. Let the game continue!

You'll be 2nd level after you get 1/2 the green belt mapped.

"Well it's getting Dark, should we drink to your return or just hit the hay?"

"I'll be hitting the hay, as I still have a long day tomorrow."

"I also have to get up early, so I'll pass."

Male Elf Ranger

Silstaren smiles. "We'll all be up early tomorrow, it seems. Still, why don't we have a quick drink up on the wall? It's a fair night."

Male Human Wizard 2

Sounds like a good idea to me.

1/2 the greenbelt? Seriously? Just what is your policy for awarding xp?

you get 100+XP for each green belt quest, (this is out of the book)
and 25 XP each for each explored hex (this is out of the book)

1/2 was off calc, It'll be closer to 1/4 -> 1/3 (forgot bonus XP for exploring, and will vary based on encounters met)

Male Human Wizard 2

Thank you for clearing that up. If you please, could you tell me what the green belt quests are?

Male Elf Ranger

Silstaren will spend an hour or two on the parapets of Oleg's wall, drinking slowly and comparing constellation names in Common, Elven, Sylvan, and any other languages people care to add.

Ready to explore?

Male Human Wizard 2

Unless someone has something they want to do, I think we are. If there are no objections, we'll be heading east on horseback.

Male Human Wizard 2

Are we ready to go?

Rory had to spend 4 hours and 50gp brewing the potions. He had 24 gp, earned 101 and spent 50, leaving him with 75gp. Now ready.

As you travel far East in the morning and explore on your way back, and as your heading back you find a Hut in the middle of no where.

Male Human Wizard 2

Halloran reins his horse in upon seeing the hut, Well this is unexpected, should we take a closer look?

Male Elf Ranger

"It would be impolite not to introduce ourselves to the neighbors. Let us stop and visit."

out comes a slim build of a man, who looks like a nervous bird.

Male Human Wizard 2

Upon seeing the man, Halloran raises his hand in a friendly wave, Hello! he calls out, It's good to meet someone out here, may we approach?

"Hello, Yes, you may approach."

Male Human Paladin 1

"Well met, sir," says Eamon, reining in his mount. "We are exploring the Greenbelt. I am Sir Eamon. These are Halloran, Roysten, Rory Wanderbilt and Silstaren. What can you tell us of this area?"

"I'm Bokken, can't say much about this place, other than the woods are dangerous."

"Nice to meet you Bokken. You live here but you can't say much? Why would that be?"

Male Elf Ranger

"Perhaps he believes there is nothing here to interest us? Bokken, I for one would gladly hear whatever you can tell us. This land is a passing wonder. The birds, game, and plants quite unlike those I grew up with. I can assure you that almost anything you have to say on those matters would interest me greatly."

Is there a garden or well in the vicinity?

yes there is a small garden, and a small pond.

Male Human Wizard 2

Your pardon, friend Bokken but would it be alright for us to water our horses at your pond?

"Sure, go a head"

Male Elf Ranger

"Thank you. So what do you do out here alone?"

Male Human Wizard 2

Halloran leads his horse to the pond, while listening to Silstaren's conversation.

"I live, and sell a few potions, that taste better than some of that crap made in the city."

Rory springs up with interest. "Really? I'm Rory, an alchemist. Until recently, I lived in a cabin much like yours and was quietly experimenting, but now I was sent onto this expedition. Mind if we exchange some of the recipes?"

Male Human Wizard 2

At Bokken's mention of potions for sale, Halloran looks over at him and calls out What do you have in stock?

Male Human Paladin 1

"You live here alone, you gather ingredients for your alchemy. How is it that you do not know the shape of the surrounding country, sir?"

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11

"I have two cure light wounds in stock, and I'll need to find more fang berries to make more potions."

"I tend to keep to myself and trade with Oleg, I prefer avoiding the bandits. It's untamed and unclaimed land so it's no country, province or state."

"Well, perhaps your potions can help change that."
Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 to recognize what the fang berries are and how to gather and store them.
"Where do you usually forage for the fang berries, sir? Perhaps we could bring you some if we find them on our travels."

Male Human Wizard 2

How much are you asking for the potions? Halloran asks Bokken.

"50 gold each, and I'm the only one in the area who makes them."

"There's large thicket of fangberries that grows about 55 miles southwest of Oleg’s, and if you bring me enough for say 10 potions I'll give you a 25% discount for a month."

Fangberries are like rare raspberry-like berries gathered and stored like regular berries, but you have to watch out for the thorns.

Male Human Wizard 2

Halloran turns to the others, Sounds like a good deal to me, what do the rest of you think?

Male Elf Ranger

"Curing potions are always useful. And our meeting with the kobalds lies in that direction. Perhaps we could have a look for these berries after the meeting. It would also give us an excuse to further explore the forest near the bandit king. It sounds profitable all around. I am agreeable."

"I could make them cheaper, given the time", Rory shrugs. "But suit yourself."

Male Human Wizard 2

I already have some healing potions, does someone else want to buy some? Now or later?

Male Human Paladin 1

How much gold did we get from the last (only) payout?

The shrooms gave Halleran 250gp, and the bandit stuff I believe sold gave each of you 75 gp each.

Male Elf Ranger

Silstaren considers the risk for the next few days. "I believe I shall wait until I am richer in funds. Another time, good Bokken?"

Male Human Wizard 2

Check the discussion page for May 30th, 2012, after selling the bandits gear and divvying up the loot, everyone in the party should have 95 gps and 60 sps. Except for Silstaren, who got 55 gps and 60 sps. We also have a party fund back at Oleg's of 90 gps, 215 sps, 1 pair of silver earrings (unappraised) and a wooden music box (unappraised).
