If I went with 3.5 grappled condition rules. He would only be allowed light weapons and be forced to drop two-handed and one-handed weapons, which I agree with.
but the drop rule is vague or hinted in the PF version, and looks like it only applies to two-handed weapons only.
PF inherited from 3.5 so the vague parts of PF are getting cleared up with 3.5 parts, if they are clearer than the PF version.
and for me, wield and hold are the same.and when grappled you can not use two-handed items period, and not "you can not wield properly."
The ruling is final, I have interpreted and followed the RAW rules in my Point Of View.
Further more "Hand of the Apprentice" can not be used with TWF,
as Hand of the Apprentice is a standard action, and TWF is a full round action.

Probably wouldn't have made much difference with those rolls anyway. So did Mikka kill the other spider or is it still standing? That last attack couldn't have been launched on my spider, right? Silstaren hadn't opened the door yet.
Yes he has killed it. As someone opened the door and did not shut it.
Halloran Westover |
So if I understand this right, Mikka just killed the spider holding Buckwell and Silstaren has opened the door to the spider lair that Halloran's in.
So here's a question, if Halloran is attacking the spider from inside the lair and Silstaren is attacking the spider from outside the lair, do the two of us get a flanking bonus?
Halloran Westover |
How many people can fit in the hole? Obviously, there's me and the spider, can anyone else fit in there? or are they just attacking from outside?
Also what's Buckwell's status? We haven't heard from him in about 2 weeks. If I'm counting the damage right he should be in the negatives, which might explain why he hasn't posted lately.
So do we just declare his character dead and move on? do we try and save him? or do we look for a new player to take his place?
I don't have a preference one way or another, I just want to know what everybody else thinks.
Halloran Westover |
And yet another skin of our teeth battle ends, well done Azure! You really had me hanging on the edge of my seat there.
And thanks again to Hod for saving my bacon, too bad those crit rolls didn't confirm though, I would have killed that spider single handed, that would have really been awesome.
But that's just how the dice roll. So what's the deal with Buckwell? is he dead or alive? At this point since he hasn't posted in over 2 weeks, I think it could go either way.

Funny thing is the night before I rolled this encounter I was watching Eight legged Freaks

Oh, really? and who exactly leveled here?
I know the original group voted for you to keep track of XP and just tell us when we leveled up and I was one of the ones who said yes.
But I have to admit, I miss being able to check my progress. Do you think you could just tell me my total and you award XP as it happens?
I for one would appreciate it and you wouldn't have me continually bugging you with, "What's my total?" and "Have I leveled yet?"
Also, what's your rule for leveling? Do we just level once we get enough xp? or do we have to spend a day at the fort? I believe the nearest good sized town is Restov, and I don't see us going all the way back there, just to level.

Your little over half-way to a level (around 1100/2000 xp).
You level when you get the XP and after you rest for the night (don't matter where.)

Question for hopefully a long time down the road, does mother's gift work if I wildshape into a form with claws?
Halloran Westover |
O.K., so in the spider lairs we found a Halberd worth 5 gps, a breastplate worth 100 gps, a longsword worth 7 gold 5 silver, a heavy wood shield worth 3 gold, 5 silver, a matching pair of short swords worth 10 gps. and a chain shirt which Asok took.
None of the items in question were Masterwork or magical, if nobody wants any of these things, I'll sell them to Oleg and we'll divide up the gold. All together we're looking at 126 gold pieces, note I said what the items are worth, not what they cost which is generally twice what I said.
Unless Azure says otherwise, you get half the cost of a weapon or armor when you sell it, so 126 gold pieces divided by 6 equals 21 gold pieces for everyone.
So the question is do we sell all the items in question? or does somebody want to keep something? I'll tell you right now, Halloran can't use any of it so his vote is to sell.

This is a question of limbo,
as mother's gift is a racial feat and could be applied to all forms, but given that it's a racial feat it may apply only to your original base form.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Since no one has spoken up for any of the items for sale, with Azure's permission, I'm just going to go ahead and say I sold them to Oleg.
I wonder if the Halberd was masterwork, would someone have kept it.
You sold it all to Oleg.

Sorry folks, while I was adding everything up I forgot to include Buckwell's gear. We haven't really decided what to do with character's gear who die in game.
As I see it we have 3 options, we can bury it with the character, which means nobody would get anything from a character who died.
We can go through a fallen characters items, people take what they want and anything not claimed gets sold, and the proceeds divided equally.
Or we can sell it all and put the money earned into the party fund, I personally like this last one.
Buckwell had: 1 light crossbow worth 17 gps, 5 sps
20 bolts worth 5 sps
1 quarterstaff worth nothing
1 sickle worth 3 gps
1 backpack worth 1 gp
1 winter blanket worth 2 sps, 5 cps
1 scroll case worth 5 sps
2 pices of chalk total worth 1 cp
1 cold weather outfit worth 4 gps
1 compass worth ?
1 cooking kit worth ?
1 flask worth 2 cps
1 small steel mirror worth 5 gps
1 belt pouch worth 5 sps
4 trail rations worth 1 gp
1 sack worth 5 cps
1 traveler's outfit worth 5 sps
1 water skin worth 5 sps
1 whetstone worth 1 cp
1 signal whistle worth 4 sps
1 pony "Jynx" worth 15 gps
1 bedroll worth 5 cps
1 Bit & Bridle worth 1 gp
2 days of feed worth 3 cps
50 ft. of hemp rope worth 5 sps
1 riding saddle worth 15 gps
1 pr saddlebags worth 2 gps
1 tent worth 5 gps
and 13 gps, 9 sps, 3 cps
Altogether, if everything is sold to Oleg it would come out to 80 gps. I couldn't find prices for the compass or cooking kit in the CRB or APG, so I left them blank.
Unless Azure says we can't do it, or someone wants something from the list Halloran will go ahead and sell all of Buckwell's old gear to Oleg, and donate the money he gets from it to the party fund. If someone objects to this, feel free to say so.
Asok Demon Tongue |
Cooking kit is 3gp and the Compass is 10gp.
Option 1 or 3 sounds fair. It's probably up to the DM, but another thing I've done in my games is everyone can claim 1 'keepsake' from their fallen companion and the rest is buried with the dead character.
DM Azure_Zero |
no selling or looting of a dead comrade's stuff,
But I do like Asok's idea of ONE keepsake from the comrade,
provided it's under 100 gold.
The only exception to this would be married partners,
who can claim TWO keepsakes (but can't sell them ever) with no limit.
as for the Pony, Oleg will take the pony in, as the pony is alive.
DM Azure_Zero |
O.K. then, selling the pony and all of his gear to Oleg comes out to 42 gold, 5 silver and 8 copper. Which I recommend we donate to the party fund.
Can't sell or keep a dead comrades goods, except for one Keepsake
Halloran would probably want the light crossbow and bolts if nobody else wants it, does that violate the keepsake rule?
No, it does not.
I suggest the mirror makes an excellent keepsake too.
Mirrors are useful.
