I have control of the game, but can't change any of the thread names though.
Looking at the discussion and recruit threads and seeing as this will likely end up as a 5-6 player game.
I am requesting that characters change from 25 point-buy to a 20 point-buy with no stats below 10 after racial mods,
to get the characters more in line with the CR system and This is also to make sure the game doesn't become a cake walk for each encounter.
Eamon, Knight of the Rose |
Hmmm...
I understand why you're doing that, but it probably invalidates an archer paladin. I'll get back to you shortly (i.e., tomorrow). An archer paladin may be too MAD for 20 points if I can't buy down. I'd need STR, DEX, CON and CHA. If I go straight paladin, I can suffice with a lower DEX. I'll think about it.
DM Azure_Zero |
I understand your predicament, Eamon. A MAD character requires some "give and take" as I made various MAD characters before on 18 point buy and they did require some hard choices to be made.
If you want, I could open up some more races (and templates). This will be open for all players, if they want a few tweaks.
Fey touched (+2DEX, -2CON, +2CHA)
Aasimar (+2WIS +2CHA, will allow the "Aasimar: Heirs of Glory" 3PP for variants)
Tiefling (+2DEX 2+INT -2CHA and it's variants found in CoT (Demon has +2STR, -2INT, +2CHA))
Draconic (+2STR,+2CON,+2CHA, template, can evolve to 1/2 dragon over time)
If like the idea, but want more selection ask and I'll pull up my custom stuff, like the half-frost folk (+2STR,+2DEX,+2CON) template.
If you choose a template it will hold you back a level for awhile given their power.

Aasimar sounds interesting, but one thing my paladin doesn't need (paradoxically, I think) is Wisdom. Also, I think I want my guy to be a human. It's easy to live a strictly noble life if you've got angel blood, but its hard for a human.
Fey touched is both thematic for the character and I really like the dex and charisma bonuses, but I'm not sure a potential front-line fighter should take a hit on constitution though. Yeah, I'm waffling here.
In the end, I just decided that Eamon will be less determined by his stats than by his character and left him as-is with lower ability scores. Thanks for being willing to be flexible.
DM Azure_Zero |
Eamon, the aasimar variants in "Aasimar: Heirs of Glory" are open and may be more to your liking.
1. Agathion‐Blooded Aasimar: +2 Str, +2 Con. The descendents of the animal‐aspect residents of Nirvana possess the strength and resilience of the beast.
2. Angel‐Blooded Aasimar: +2 Str, +2 Cha. Angelic heirs are potent warriors and inspirational leaders.
3. Archon‐Blooded Aasimar: +2 Con, +2 Wis. The descendents of the forces of Heaven have the resiliency to press the fight and the insight to know when to do so.
4. Azata‐Blooded Aasimar: +2 Con, +2 Cha. The freedom‐loving scions of Elysium are hearty and well suited to travel, making friends often and easily.
5. Couatl‐Blooded Aasimar: +2 Str, +2 Wis. The children of the rainbow serpents are powerful, unwavering crusaders.
•Serpent Scales: Couatl‐blooded aasimar have a +1 natural armour bonus. This replaces Celestial Resistance.
6. Elysian‐Blooded Aasimar: +2 Str, +2 Con: Elysian‐blooded aasimar are uncommonly strong and durable.
•Elysian‐blooded aasimar stand on average 8 inches taller than most humans, and weigh about 40 lbs. more.
•Elysian Resiliency: Elysian‐blooded aasimar have a +1 natural armour bonus. This replaces Celestial Resistance.

edit:
forgot to post this last night,
I house rule the monk alignment to non-chaotic (made this house rule in the 3.5 days)
Silstaren |
Thanks, guys. This is a pretty rocking game. I'll try to hold up my end.
Azure_zero:
Silstaren was built with 20 pt buy with 2 traits. He had reached 2nd level so he's fat on equipment for first level. I skimmed the original creation thread, but didn't find an amount for starting wealth. Give me a number and I'll trim his gear to fit that budget.
Everyone, Silstaren was originally built with an eye to taking arcane archer or bladesinger someday. Since I'm joining the party late, I'm willing to rework him to better fit party needs, in combat or especially in skills.
DM Azure_Zero |
Current list of characters:
Human Cleric of Desna (Regular)
Halfling Alchemist (Chirurgeon)
Human Wizard (Regular)
Human Paladin (Archer)
@Silstaren (Ranger, Archer)
You'll be arriving in the morning with the re-enforcements.
I noticed Arcane archer or Bladesinger as one of your prestige class options, ever hear of the prestige classes; Order of the
Bow Initiate, or Spellsword.
Bladesinger, Order of the Bow Initiate, and spellsword would all need updates, and I could do them.
Bladesinger and spellsword are done already by me
Silstaren |
Silstaren has been modified back to first level. I hope I did all the math.
DM Azure_zero, I've never heard of Order of the Bow Initiate, but a quick web search reveals intriguing possiblities, even with my weak webfu. Silstaren is a very traditional elf; I want to try to blend culture, magic, and martial (ranged) aspects. Hence arcane archer and to a lesser extent bladesinger. Spellsword is a great prestige class. Still time to settle on a route.
Are you going to cue me here for introduction or do you want me to watch the game thread for arrival of the reinforcements?
DM Azure_Zero |
Think of "Order of the Bow Initiate" as a archery ranger on crack, but I think you found a copy of the data
as for the cue it'll be either me or you (as I might need to rush it at the moment of posting the reinforcement coming and forget something, I'm not perfect)
And the math looks right.

AZ - Can we not go through the mechanics of redemption? That stuff is all about the NPC's and the story should focus on the PCs. Besides, I don't want to know the mechanics of what's happening in their heads. I just want to know what's happening in the story.
If we have to take weeks of real time to deal with this issue every time we take prisoners, we're never going to finish "Stolen Lands", much less the whole AP.
DM Azure_Zero |
Alkaid will be doing the redemption work,
while the party goes off exploring.
If you want her in the party you have to ask her
to join you for the adventure.
I have NPC interaction with other NPCs happening behind the scenes, and happening in other areas, even where the party is not, like the BBEG, talking with someone, you'll meet later.
DM Azure_Zero |
Much appreciated.
The paladin wanted to redeem the bandits, looked at the rules on it, and figured it would be a week or two of redeeming, and not exploring, and would be little fun.
So I figured a redeeming NPC would fit the bill, as the redeeming machine while at Olegs, a useful NPC to party with when not redeeming, and for those who what some Romance RP a romancable NPC.
I'll get to work on some more romancable NPCs later.
Tarondor |
Sir Eamon had no problem with working with the bandits. He's the paladin, I'm not. -I- had a problem with the mechanics being so much in the forefront that it was reduced to a series of boring die rolls.
Anything that doesn't directly involve the PC's should be done through roleplaying. After all, players and GM are here to have fun.
Halloran Westover |
I don't see why we can't set out, they have armed guards and they won't have weapons or armor. They even have a cleric to work on redeeming them. Plus, the longer we wait, the longer the other bandits we'll have to know something is wrong.
Besides if the camp is only a day away like they've said, we won't be gone long.
Have we settled on a final division of the loot we took off the bandits? I know we've discussed it, but I don't know if we agreed on it.
They had:
4 leather armors
3 longbows
3 shortswords
2 alchemist's fires
A dagger
A composite longbow (STR +2)
80 arrows
8 days trail rations
A silver Stag Lord amulet
and 65gps
I know Rory said he wanted the alchemists fire, I claimed the dagger, Royston is currently holding the Stag lord amulet, Eamon and Silstaren can divide the arrows up between them and we can split the rations and gold between the party.
I would like to suggest we offer Silstaren the use of the composite longbow (STR +2), at least until after we hit the bandit camp, if there's any treasure there he can pay us back from his share.
The leather armor, longbows and shortswords we can either sell or give to Oleg. Halloran favors letting Oleg have them for free, because these bandits have been robbing him for 3 months and he's entitled to compensation. Plus it wouldn't hurt to stay on the good side of our host.
But if the party insists on selling them, I'll go along with that as well. Also the 4 original members still need their XP for defeating the bandits.
