"So be it!"
Shouted Teresa as the creature attacked her. She managed to dodge the attack and attempts to hit it with her fist.

"Miss Ava, if you're done punishing the furniture, you might want to help me and Teresa. While we've got its attention, perhaps you could hit it from behind."
Which might be more than we can say for Tran Duc Lao. "What do you mean, the cake is a lie," Lao says as he falls unconscious. That hit takes him to -2 HP.
As the creature turns towards Tran Duc Lao and Elainnador, Teresa moved (5ft step) to a flanking position opposite Ava. Focusing an Elemental Fist to hit the creature from behind. I'll make my Elemental Fist's energy "Fire", because a wise man once said, "burn it with fire"

Eliannador, staggered and nearing unconsciousness, takes a 5-ft step away from the creature and uses her healing hex upon herself. She can't save the curiously even tempered little man who speaks of illusory cakes if she's unconscious herself.

*sigh* Whew! Does that houserule mean the nasty thing took 5 damage instead of 10 too?
Presuming the now headless monstrosity is dead (again), Eliannador kneels down next to Duc and gently touches his cheek - softly beckoning him back to the land of the living. Healing Hex @ Duc
Ava looks Teresa, praying over the body of the headless creature. She begins to speak to the monk, but thinks better of it. Whatever this place was, a touch of holy thought couldn't hurt.
Ava lifts the magical flail with some hesitation. Finally, she is assured this will not attack or restrain her and she tests the weapon out with a swing.
Thanks to Eliannador's healing, Lao recovers from the grievous blow the creature struck. "Thank you. I wasn't expecting it to hit that hard. How many more of those things could there be in this place?"

As Tran stands up, Eliannador remains kneeling with her arm slightly outstretched - almost as if she is frozen. She neither looks at nor responds to Duc when he addresses her.
"Witch? What are you doing?" Avalerdis looks around at the others and then carefully moves in front of Eliannador to see if she can get any response out of her.
When there's no movement, she says, "What happened? Should I touch her?"

Alarmed, Pharysene rushes over to see what has happened to Eliannador. Worried, but also intrigued she runs over the observable symptoms; She is rigid and unmoving, but she became so right after a spell...

Pharysene thinks hard.
"I would expect being wounded had something to do with it, but Master Lao was also injured and he is unaffected. Perhaps something the haunts have done are afflicting her..."
Having little else she can do, Pharysene casts Guidance on Eliannador; icy breezes wash over her skin briefly. It'll grant a +1 to next save.
"I think the thing that attacked us is called a ghast," Lao says. "I've heard that being hit by a ghast's claws can cause paralysis. I don't know why I wasn't affected, but if the stories are true, Miss Eliannador should be able to move before too long. Did it bite any of you? I've also heard that their bites spread disease."
Ava stands waiting for the Witch to return to normal. Every once in a while, she will wave her hand in front of Eliannador's eyes or shake her shoulder, thinking it will help wake the Witch up.

As the effects of the ghast's touch begin to fade, first her index finger starts to twitch, then she blinks several times after Avalerdis passes her hand in front of the witch's face. With a groan, Eliannador collapses onto her haunches and holds her hand to her head as if it aches terribly.
"Nnngh. Have I mentioned how much I hate this place?" She'll take the first hand offered to her and stand up. "Did you find anything in here while I was... well... indisposed?"

Realizing we had not yet done so, Pharysene looks around with interest as she helps Eliannador to her feet.
"Not just yet. We had been preoccupied with a fallen comrade."
Heal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 to see if Eliannador is really all right.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 to look around.
