"This not a time to evade these questions my lady, if we don't know your sin we can't try to prevent the attack on you from the ghosts." He she gives a cold smile.
Maena says, "Except, of course, that it was neither a gift nor anonymous. Care to try again? Though I should warn you that the sisters trained me to spot lies like the ones you tried to sell a moment ago."
"If it truly was the judge that paid you off, did give you a reason why he wanted this man silenced?" She flips through the ledger again and stares at Halgark.
Maena glares at Patrissa, "First lies, and then half-truths. Things would go better for all of us if you would tell the whole truth. Unless you like the idea of being trapped in here with a vengeful spirit? Especially since he probably already knows what you've done?"
The first statement, it's true about the pay off, but the judge was a lie, you get the feeling it was another member of the judicial system.
The second statement is true in that she did not ask.
Maena glares at Patrissa, "First outright lies, and now half-truths. Things would go better for all of us if you would tell the whole truth. Who *really* gave that to you and why? And don't tell us it's because your eyes are so pretty... unless you like the idea of being trapped in here with a vengeful spirit? Especially since he probably already knows what you've done?"
"Well, he was part of the judicial system for sure, and I won't say any more as you don't know the lengths they will go.
As they stacked the deck starting with Malgrim, a few other sure bet jurors and myself."
Maena shakes her head with exaggerated patience, "I believe, considering where we are, how we can't escape, and what happened to Malgrim, that you may be worrying about the wrong thing taking its revenge on you. However, if you're willing to die here to avoid possibly being punished later, that is your choice, even if it is foolish to the extreme."
With that she turns and looks at Kirallah and Aciera, "Am I the only one who's getting frustrated enough to just wash our hands of the lot of them? Especially when they can't be bothered to help us in our attempts to save them? I am not certain the spirit is not right in avenging the horrible distortion of my Lord's justice here."
Reacting with blinding speed Kirallah strike out, her first attack catching the creature the moment it lands, her follow up attack coming close but failing to make contact.
Seeing all that blood splatter Aciera's stomach growls, and so the young Dhampir takes a tug on her wineskin that is mixed with a special ingredient. "Well that was intresting.....Whats a leech doing here?"
