GM Calvus |
Borin, City by the sea, a major hub of sailors and ways in and out.
All of you have been called by the powerful mage Talonvor. The walls of Borin are white marble and the architectural design in beautiful.
Look at this marble castle
As you approach the gate, you notice more than half a dozen large caravans moving into the castle. Each with a different banner. In the recent years the movement of dragons has been a concern. You know the most powerful people in the world gather here, but are unsure why you are called.
Hold It right there! says a large man, nearly 7 feet in height, with an extremely nasally voice. Who are you? Why are you here? I am Sargent Mutton, and If you don't tell me why I will make sure you are all locked up.
Gyro Titanblade |
A small gnome, dragging behind him a sword, or a battering ram, one cannot tell, approaches the Sargent.
Scarred and short dark hair covers the top of his head. Bright green eyes look up at the man. While a dog sits and pants happy at the gnomes side
"My name is Gyro. From the family of the Titanblade. I was invited by your magic user. Talonvor his name I think. I don't think he want you to make him wait for me"
What must be an odd sight, the small gnome meets the glare of the Sargent.
Smaug. Prophet of the DRAGON |
It had been a long journey, and the next stop in his quest, Borin loomed above him.
I hope we dont get run out of this one, Nico The old man whispered, despite no one appearing around. Then, something whispered back...
I sense a connection here. Perhaps this place will yield fruit...
When the large man aproached him with obvious intent, Smaug wa unphased.
I am Smaug, a prophet. I bring dire news regarding the recent dragons and so i have been summoned by the holder of the Book of Prophesy, Talonvor. I suggest you do NOT make him wait.
The obviously older man no less fiersome in his demeanor
Intimidate: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (12) + 18 = 30
The great thing about having my own made up religion is that i can bulls*** as much about it as i want XD
GM Calvus |
I am sorry, but unless Talonvor can confirm that... Mutton starts to say.
Suddenly the fog disperses, though the rain stays over Mutton, revealing Azura, and another man, one barely over 5 feet, approaches.
This man appears to be in his late 50's.
Sargent I invited these people. They are to be the next set of kings. says the man in a deep voice. He looks at you. You can see in his eyes that he is way older than he looks. He has many scars and wears plain white robes. A medallion of a silver dragon hangs around his neck.
I am sorry my friends. I am Talonvor. Yes I am 104 years old. I have stayed alive due to potions of longevity. Sky priestess, do not worry. I just didn't want to leave the others out of the fun. He winks.
Ahh, the Titanblade. I am glad you came. I do love your weapon. Easily the best I have ever seen.
Smaug, The dragons shadow... Ahh I have waited to meet you and your..... acquaintance.
You others, I cannot recognize you on sight. My vision isn't what it used to be. What are your names?
Gyro Titanblade |
The little barbarian looks at him.
"So kings huh? We don't have kings. Here to fight."
He looks at those who gathered after him
"Gyro is the name, smiting is the job... and killing big things. Pleased to meet ya!"
He extends his hand

Smaug. Prophet of the DRAGON |
Smaug is taken aback. King? What.. Directness. And another man, older then me. That is becoming more and more rare.
Smaug sighs. An old, weary sigh.
That medallion, might it be? Na, nevermind. I see that my companion has failed to escape your attention. Smaug glances down at his shadow, which has just winked at the guard (assuming he saw, i imagine hes a little unnerved? ^^)
K. Arcane: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25 +2 if history
Gyro huh? I would be known as Smaug, and this, gesturing to his shadow, a draconic and evil looking shadow with ember red eyes, very unlike the human that cast it. Is Nico Regelia. Where might you hail from?
Smaug is an older man, somewhere in his fourties and sporting wild and unkempt greying hair. His clothes are similar, while far from rags, they have the aged and weathered look of someone on the road a long time, someone without the luxurary of home and cooked meals.
Yet it is his shadow that is distinct. It flickeres and moves of its own accord, taking on the appearance of a terrible dragon, two glowing red pits in its center, and staring directly at you...
Note. The Dragons name may change :p it will be Nico.... Something...
Gyro Titanblade |
The gnome just looks from one to other before talking
"My tribe travels. We hunt big things. Titan sized things if we are lucky. That is where our family gets the name. This weapon is from our history. One of the first titan slayers." with that he lifts the blade up. Black as knight. 5 times the gnome's size
"Do to answer your question. We come from anywhere" he gives him a big grin

Smaug. Prophet of the DRAGON |
Hmmm. To be from everywhere, and me, to go everywhere. Something similar to be sure. Where i hail from is not importiant, rather it is where i am going. Everywhere. To warn everyone. A dire time is comig indeed...
Just the two of us so far? Hows the others comig?
Gudbjörn |
A worn and weathered face encased in fiery red hair and a braided beard ending in weighted tassels that spread across an expansive chest appears. Hanging from his neck on an ornate metalworked chain is what looks to be the head of a great axe, encircled by a flame crest, and cast in silver. Emblazoned across the visible portion of his left cheek is yet another axe head, this time inked into his skin and further decorated with Dwarven runes, while on the other cheek, a flame has been inked, seemingly erupting from the Dwarf's eye. Across his back is slung an ornately crafted greataxe, each blade etched with a screaming dwarf head in a Dwarven-stylized motif.
So it is kings you would make us? Kingships are not handed out like so many paltry things. Either this is all a devilish ruse, or the gods have truly smiled upon us. Unlucky for me, it sounds, Dwarven gods are not the smiling type.
He quickly studies the faces of those surrounding him, before continuing....
Ah, how rude of me. Here stands Gudbjörn, devotee of Angradd, The Forge-Fire, Guardian of War and Decider of Destiny. It seems that it is my destiny to have an audience with a great Mage, though I did not know there were to be others alongside me.
With GM approval, I am assuming a background of studying for several years at a Dwarven monastery, from where I have been dispatched to Borin.
Smaug. Prophet of the DRAGON |
Well met, Gudbjörn, it seems that our fates are to be met, yet i agree. Kingship is... A rather steep greeting gift, one i would be ill suted to i fear.
Still, i imagine my companion would be warmed to know he may converse with one associated with fire and war.
sounds really cliche (sp?) but it will sound more natural soon :)
Smaug. Prophet of the DRAGON |
Oops! I meant my little blurb, not your backstory, sorry!
I basically said: "Come friend i have never met before! Let us travel together and have many adventurers together! I trust you completely."
Which is a very cliche troup from tabletop games about PCs meeting each other for the first time (as opposed to NPCs, who they can often view with immediate and long-standing distrust)
Gudbjörn |
Gudbjörn lets out a snicker. Well, Master Titanblade, it seems they have heard of you, he says, followed by more snickering at his own joke. After pondering the situation a while longer -- These thralls seem to have some expectation of us. How curious, he says while rubbing one of the long metallic beads adorning the end of one of his beard's braids.
Gyro Titanblade |
The gnome just kept walking, pushing past all the long legs.
"I don't care for fame from big ones. We do it for our family and tribe." he growls underneath

Smaug. Prophet of the DRAGON |
Hmmm. The world leaders? Then I assume that your jest of kinghood has more truth to it then I first believed... Can you tell me more about those we can anticipate meeting?
K. Nobility: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
meeting the rulers already? Should we assume that this is like Skyrim where we are famous to start with? Also, blew a nat-20 X)
GM Calvus |
You are not known. You're meeting the rulers because Talonvor has said so. They naturally don't like you. Prove them wrong
You see the banners of many nobles, armies, and groups.
Most noticeable are the banners of the 6 original Kings, who wore the magic crowns you know of.
Other than that you see the banners of these nobles:
Sir Richard Donahue, a well respected elf merchant and former knight
Wyl Hardel, Half-orc Lord of Wolf Castle
Toblin, Dwarf lord of the black hills
and many other banners you cannot recognize
As for the Armies you see these
The Golden Eclipse
The Dawn Brigade
The Boar Riders
The Air Brigade
That is all you recognize
GM Calvus |
These are all the nobles and leaders of Major armies and mercenary bands of this plane my young friend. Even the leader of the drow folk is here, afraid of the loss of wealth from trade. There was no jest for kinghood, my friends. The six crowns need wearers. And it is profesized that you shall wear them. These nobles don't like you. You are upstarts to them. Prove them Wrong.
You enter the building. Hundreds, if not some thousands, of people sit in seats in many places.
Like congress
One calls out, Smaug knows it is Wyl.
So Talonvor. Ye call us here and bring us to discuss a War between Dragon kind, yet ye bring forth one I personally exiled. What good is he To us!
Many other nobles, over 9/10's of the seem to not want you here.
Smaug. Prophet of the DRAGON |
Wyl. So good to see you again.
Smaug says with a barely visible wince.
You come here to discuss the war among dragons, is it so unusual to find the Prophet in such a place?
Besides. I must thank you, were it not for your... Urgings, I would have never left the city and taken my warnings to the greater world.
Smaug then turns his gaze to some of the rest of the crowd, scanning to see who might be of the friendlier sort, or at least neutral.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Smaug is looking around to see what not-hostile faces he can find and if he recognizes them.
Gyro Titanblade |
"oi! I may be a backwater, barbaric type to you lot, but even i know it is rude and untasteful to insult the guests of the host" the gnome calls out. His voice stronger than one would expect from someone his size
Intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Azura Cyanea |
Azura appears indifferent to the swathe of nobles that apparently disliked her. She lacked a silver tongue but wasn't overly concerned, in her experience humans followed the strong, so provided she proved to them her power would make for an excellent queen, she hoped they would fall back into line.
GM Calvus |
Smaug, before Gyro frightens over half the nobles, you see some friendly faces, only three, and recognize all of them on sight.
The First is Sir Isteval Church, a knight and leader of the golden Eclipse. He is a taller elf, and happens to appear heavyset for his race.
The second is Lord Murbark, whom you did not see earlier. Murbark is an elderly mage, baron, and a former court bard. He is a halfling. You are quite surprised you didn't notice he was here before. He happens to be a very famous noble.
The last is a Human female, you can't recall her name. You think she may be a new noble, maybe a princess to a far away land, based on her exotic appearance.
Smaug I am going to do this based on your previous K. nobility check
Gyro your response draws gasps of horror, and Wyl looks ready to attack you for such insolence.
You Gnome. What do you know. You are no better than this swine. In fact, I challenge you to a duel! Wyl walks up and slaps you with his velvet glove.
Gyro Titanblade |
Gyro looks at the glove, then at the man called Wyl
"A glove? A glove? We use fists... but okay, I will accept you challenge. Might loosen my muscles a bit from the long ride"
Gyro Titanblade |
Gyro opens himself up for an attack as he tries to "disarm"(sunder) his opponent, with a roar (rage)
Sunder!: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Sunder Damage: 4d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 5) + 6 = 19
Gyro Titanblade |
He grins as this spurs him on, he swings his weapon again
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage: 4d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 5) + 6 = 28
round 2 of 14 rage rounds

Smaug. Prophet of the DRAGON |
Smaug groans silently as the halfling and the ruler of a city start going at each other. This could not go well for negotiations, so Smaug discreetly placed himself on the opposite side of the group, yet two red Orbs from within the recesses of his shadow watched the fight gleefully.
Slowly Smaug makes his way over to the side of Sir Church.
Respectable greetings Sir Church. How fares the Order of the Golden Eclipse? And how do things here seem, aside from a few getting their excess energy out of their system...
Deplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Great, instant enemy ^^
Gyro Titanblade |
The little gnome continues, not caring about the minor scratch
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage: 4d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 6) + 6 = 24
3 of 14

Everyone was unknown for Hellad, so he paid no attention to the rude reception.
He and Lobono, his furry friend, searched for a window/door/good hiding place - in case things got out of hands so the could have an exit.
He had seen this congresses of noble people, and when someone made a mistake, things could get tricky.
He remained silent, hearing the important conversation of the man who looked open to discuss the issue of why they are here.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
=================================================================
Off : DM, I think I owe you my background.
GM Calvus |
You win Gnome. says Wyl. He hands you his sword. This is now yours. He pulls out a potion and drinks it.
Yes. Smaug was it. Wyl told me of your exile. The Golden Eclipse fares well. I am glad you asked. No one else has. The only Issue I have is with the Drow queen. Drow have long been an enemy of the Golden Eclipse. Her being here is irksome.
Hellad you hear this ... So these people are to be the new kings. What a weird bunch.
Gyro Titanblade |
Gyro takes the sword and puts his arm and fist across his chest
"It was an honor to fight you. This is a great gift."
He begins to inspect the weapon like a seasoned smith
will add it to my sheet later. A backup weapon ;)

GM Calvus |
Wyl looks amazed. Say. This skill at fighting you have. It is amazing. I have dueled many, and have never been so easily bested. I have a favor to ask if you don't mind. A quest you could call it. When this council session is over could you head out to Wolf Castle. There is a group of Oger's there that have been raiding the city occasionally. For men of less than your skill I would pay 2000 gold, but for a man such as your self, 3000. I told you that you would get my respect, but you have done more.
Tavlonvor calls the meeting to start.
Hello nobles. I bring you here today to once again discuss the growing concern of dragons. These that are here now, they are our allies. The prophecy I would not speak of starts today. These people are the new kings. As the prophecy says:
And so they will come,
The dragons shadow,
The angry gnome,
The master of the sky,
the worshiper of fire,
The man with a friend
They shall raise the crowns once again.
Who approves of these men helping us?
Today you see Sir Isteval, Wyl, Murbark, and the Female human stand up and give a unified call of Yea
The rest of the council does not.
The Human female.
Greetings Adventurers. I am Lady Shadowdove. I Propose, to all, that you prove yourselves. For the first test I would ask them to help us. Kobolts, many hundreds of kobolts, are aiding the Chromatic dragons, and guard the White Orb of Dragon kind. Retrieve it, and bring it to the council as soon as possible. These kobolts live in The Cyanwoods. 3 day travel from here. 1 day from Wolf castle.
Gyro Titanblade |
"Ogres and kobolds? Easy picking, they will all fall. Plus give excersise"
Azura Cyanea |
Who approves of these men helping us?
Azura looks a little...irritated at Tavlonvor's expectation that all bearers of the prophecy must be male, but the rest of the gathered nobles seemed to not pick up on the slight oversight, and so she didn't push the issue. Rolling her eyes slightly at the gnomes confidence she tries to recall anything she might know about Cyanwoods, Wolf Castle, and the White Orb of Dragon Kind
Knowledge History: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Knowledge History: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Knowledge History: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
MuertoXSky |
Hellad looks at Lady Shadowdove, she reminds him of one of his investigations, and because of that, he did not trust her, not any noble at all.
Sense motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Perhaps her statement was hiding something, maybe she wanted to gain some benefit from it, Hellad could not tell but he had his suspicious. Was she being honest with them ?, He would check.
Besides that, After hearing those names of locations, He analized the best route to get there, if there was any shortcuts and what to expect from those plays regarding geography and nature.
Cyanwoods
Geography: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Wolf castle
Geography: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
As for the White orb of Dragon kind, he was never good at history or religion.
GM Calvus |
As for Wolf Castle you know it was founded by The first Wolf King Taggerung. It is ancient, yet impressive. Wyl is the current ruler.
You have heard of the white dragon orb, and if you remeber correctly it is one of the orbs of dragon kind.
You know for certain she is not lying. Even your deepest suspicions are pushed away.
You can remember some paths to Cyanwood, but can recall that There are many roads to wolf castle
Gudbjörn |
Gudbjörn looks on in amazement that such dis-civil conduct would be tolerated among so many alleged nobles. It would seem these people are in need of leadership indeed... he muses to himself. So it would seem that we are to first be errand boys before kings... he says while looking around at the group... and a queen, apparently, as well. Do the elvish lords also send their women into battle for them, I wonder?
GM Calvus |
So dwarf. You are to be one of the new kings. I am Lord Murbark. I hope you succeed. I understand it may seem errand boyish, but the dragon sightings, the started when Talonvor first destroyed a Orb of dragon kind. You have the most important job we could entrust you with. Infact please take this. It is an old item. I know it may seem like a stupid ring, but it will come in handy. Murbark hands Gudbjorn a ring, He doesn't say what it does, but it seems magical.
Azura is it? Sorry for the way Talonvor acted. He seems to forget us women have more power than he does. But he is old. You seem the strong independant type, who doesn't talk much. Take this please. It may seem like a stupid ring, but it has saved my life. It is magical. Lady Shadowdove hands you a ring.
Smaug. The Golden Eclipse backs you on this. We wish for you to take this statuette. may it serve you well. Sir Istavall hands you a statuette of what appears to be Minotaur.
Talonvor will approach Hellad. You have been quite. Take this. May it serve you well. He hands Hellad a cloak.
