Apologies, folks, looks like today will continue to be a day from heck. Will try to post tonight or tomorrow morning at latest. Sorry! I'm starting to hate thursdays....
Between work and home life, several things have come up making life extremely stressful. I am sorry, but I need to withdraw from all of my PBP games. It has been fun playing with you all. I hope to be able to come back to the boards in the future, but until then, have fun.
Happy Holidays to everyone! With the holidays right upon us I understand that posting in this game won't be a priority for a little bit. My intention is to pick the game up again starting this thursday, the 27th, but if it doesn't start again till the 2nd that is alright as well.
Take care everyone, and have a great time with your loved ones!

fair enough. had a full belly for a few days running. bro made up the most INSANE smoked pineapple ham. thing just about fell off the bone and the flavor was indescribably good. Lookin forward to pickin things up whenever we're ready.
If I'm making a big deal out of building a new pyre for Elur and wasting time (and possibly lives in Tilver's Folly) then just tell me and we'll say a few words and toss her into the (already) burning pit.

@DM: would it be possible to put a link to the current battle map up top on the post or in the campaign info tab, or somewhere more static? Keep havin to scroll back to find the last post with the map.
Yes, that is a good idea, Belgrin. Everyone, I've posted a link to the battle map at the top of the campaign info text block. It will be updated whenever there is combat to facilitate easier access to the info you need.
Thats also a good idea - I've traditionally used blue for the good guys, red for the baddies, and a paler blue or red for downed combatants. On this map I asked everyone to place themselves and was treated to a virtual rainbow of colours :-)
Also, unrelated, but important: is everyone tracking their xp? I've noted the xp awards after each of your combats. You each got 96 xp for dismantling the bounty hunters, and 267 for destroying the ghouls. I may level you up early but it's good to keep track in any case.
Apologies for no updates yesterday, I've been out of action with a nasty flu. Am a bit better today (was able to crawl out of bed) so back to destroying the Zombies!
I'd like to try an encourage a little more roleplaying in this adventure, and I'd like to solicit your advice and ask for your help. What are things that I can be doing to encourage it?
I'm looking at the current situation, and I'm thinking that planning could be going on for your sortie into the village in the morning. Just one of many topics which could be talked (or whispered, I suppose) about through the dark night.
Also, I want everyone to know that I have no problem working with you to create subplots that will make you feel more involved, and have more fun. If you want to make recommendations or suggestions, either post here or PM me. I want everyone to have a good time with this game!

I am game. For more RP. Can you give me via spoiler or PM some more details on what I saw when looking at the chapel, maybe then I can give more details to everyone
It was dark, and your eyes could only pick out so much at such a distance. However, the following are true:
- the shrine appeared mostly to be constructed of stone, with the main doors at the south. They were shut tight;
- many of the stained glass windows were broken out;
- those broken windows allowed limited visibility inside. Several fires appeared to be burning, and dark figures were within
- the faces at the window seemed primarily human, but a couple could have been dwarves, based on their height
- the whole of the shrine (from what you could tell) seemed to have a trench of indeterminate depth dug around it. The undead were milling about outside, unable to cross the trench, or unwilling to do so.
- the trench raised an interesting question - how would entry to the shrine be gained? There was no bridge to be noted.

Well, Belgrin's a fighter, a miner, and a dwarf who's proud of his clan. Trying to play him close to his charisma score for a guideline, but I haven't given a lot of thought to personal subplots as of yet. I'll try to find some inspiration, but regardless of that, I think more RP is unanimously a good thing in a PBP game.
I like the new map, DM - easy to read and better able to understand where everything is located.
As for Duvall, his goal is to spread the word of Helm and help his fellow man live free of fear. "Be strong in the lord and in the power of his might" is his creed.
Just FYI, I put that map together so you'd have a good idea of where's where and what's what in the village. For combat, I'd still use the spreadsheet map, because I think it's really clear and concise. Also, I have no artistic abilities whatsoever.
Everyone is okay with the tactical maps, aren't they? Now I think I've given myself a complex about them, seeing as they are so sparse.

I'm adaptable. If we're using it to be clear about combat positioning, then let's do it. If we're going with more stylized pieces of art done by hand for detail, then I'll roll with that too. Whatever works best for the group and the game is good for me.
@ everyone: I was just checking out your treasure and noted that several items have yet to be identified or noted. Janiries, under your profile you should note that the three potions found in the charnel pit are: a potion of enlarge person; a potion of cure light wounds; and a potion of protection from evil. You also have two scrolls with unidentified spells on them, and of course, from Elur's possessions, you have a scroll of fireball.
Initially, when I started the game, I had planned to use the medium progression chart. At this point, however, I'm thinking using fast progression will help keep motivation up and make things feel like less of a grind. I believe you are all 331 XP away from level two at this point - maybe just one big battle!
