A Song of Ice and...Well, Actually, Just Ice: DM-Phil's Reign of Winter (Inactive)

Game Master Phillip0614

The time for Irrisen's new monarch has come and gone with no sign of the infamous Baba Yaga...and now, winter is encroaching onto all of Golarion! Will our heroes be able to find the fabled Witch-Queen and restore balance to the world?

I think the trap that this basic group gets caught in is waiting for each other (I mean me, Wellard, Hector, Daniel) and I think sometimes it is not clear when people disappear and why. Wellard and Voodoo both are excellent at communicating their posting outages, I have gone from good to bad to "okay" with a solid striving to be better about it as a high priority. I feel like Daniel has never really left for any period of time (:p) and I'm not sure what transitions are still affecting Hector but I don't think he takes it personally if we push along.

I am starting to get more aggressive with my own posting and I honestly have superior access during most of the time but I can have lots of flare ups so I can be a little all over the place in my frequency from highly prolific to MIA if my damn home computer is inaccessible or I get back to back meeting/crisis at work. I have a toddler that makes it hard sometimes...but ultimately I would like to see the pace higher in some of these games and I am invested in working harder to do my part.

I'm ultimately comfortable with the DM botting folks or making some character assumptions to move things along. Voodoo grabs my rogue by the ears and moves him around sometimes and I am happy with that balance if it helps him move when he is able to post and I jump back in when I can. Phil has done that here, me in S&S and Wellard in our JR game as well.

I honestly somehow missed this post and I am frustrated that I say that more often than a rational human being should on these boards. I consider myself neither inattentive nor obtuse but for some reason I feel like once a month I have to sheepishly admit that somehow I missed a beat.

S&S is taking a long time but I feel like we have picked up the pace and the dungeon crawl thing is time consuming in an extra special way on PbP...I'm just babbling now.

Ultimately I hear the issue on the slower games and I just want folks to know that my honest intention is to post daily Mon-Fri and the best I can on the weekends which I know have not been great these last few months.

Shadow Lodge

I do apologize if my posting is holding things up. For the record, I don't take it personally if you just move along. I've finally got a new job in the new town, but I work nights and it's been kicking my rear. So my incentive to get on and update has been lackluster. I honestly don't mean to hold everybody up, and seeing as how my home games have practically stopped, you guys are really all I get to RP with these days.

So consider this as my 2 cp to work harder on my end.

Well I'll post for the next round as soon as it is announced even if I'm out off order I trust Phil to work things out.

Hey everyone I apologize for this and I will post this everywhere I can so that folks can be sure to run into it:

There have been some recent developments in my life both logistically and emotionally that are going to need my focus and attention. While I think I should be able to continue to play after a short hiatus I think it best if I discard other more time consuming activities for the health of my family and in fairness to all of you folks who I play with.

I should be back in about a week or so to posting but I think it best I shut S&S down. I would rather be proactive in the other games I am in rather than constantly struggle and then find myself unavailable on all fronts. I apologize for the abruptness of it all but hopefully we can continue our other games in earnest. I appreciate any tolerance or patience you can muster. Thanks.

Anyone up for the old block the door and cover the chimneys routine?

Sovereign Court

It would be a crime not do that with a halfling ninja in the party. Causing that kind of mischief is what having small easily maneuverable, morally-gray, characters around is all about! :-)

Male Halfling Ninja/1

Oooo..yeah!!! I am all over that!!! Let me at it!! Once we check out the other building, that is!!!!

Clarify, please. Are you just talking about smoking them out?

Male Halfling Ninja/1

I do believe that is what he is saying...or at least that is what Drew understood and is planning to do. Once he blocks the chimney he will wait on the roof with his bow out to snipe the bad guys!

Sovereign Court

I actually though he was hoping to knock them out from smoke inhalation...thy shouldn't technically die...right away. Otherwise there would be no reason to block the door...

Sooo one flaw in that plan would be that there are TWO doors :\

Um, are we dividing forces to cover both doors (I don't recommend) or can we jam the back (or front) door to force them out at one place. This will be harder with our ninja already on the roof unless we wave him to jam the back door.

OR we can just ambush out front and let Drew snipe out the back....?

Sovereign Court

I agree, no splitting up except for the small guy who can hide ;/

If we can get Drew to jam the door, that would be good right?

Ok we jam one door..and give them only one avenue out off the place somewhere we can cover with our full strength..such as it is.

BTW should we have levelled by now?

I'm thinking we level at the end of this encounter. Sadly, that's gonna be a year real time for one level in game.

btw my plan is to panic the horses to draw them out. maybe if lucky, cut the horses loose as they reach the doorway and run down a bandit or two.

Smoke out those that stay in. I don't care. Let's just get something going here.

M Ulfen Bear Shaman

fire is for the frosty fey we've been warned about.

with speed 20 it's going to take three rounds to walk around the house and maybe have to deal with Weirdy McOrcness who did shoot at me. If it's a fairly open floor plan then a turn and a half. I say pass through, enlarge and claw my way out. that's the plan anyway.

Male Halfling Ninja/1

Drew is planning to take another shot at Weirdy McOrcness...and maybe take her down, but his bow does not do huge amounts of damage...

After watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas recently, I have an overwhelming urge to make a Druid character named Thurl Ravenscroft whose companion is eventually a tiger named Tony.

I dunno I would be tempted in a game with the character to tell the druid to make the tiger yell "Theyre GGGrrreeeaaattt!"

SO Sondergang hasn't posted in a week. Is he still around?

It looks like Paizo ate the post I made on Wednesday

*shakes fist at paizo* Damn you!

I had that happen earlier this week too.

M Ulfen Bear Shaman

So the holidays are upon us and I have a whole lot of driving to do. Posting will be sparse over the next two weeks. Cheers All!

M Ulfen Bear Shaman

Happy 2014! I'm back.

M Ulfen Bear Shaman

Hi all,
I'm withdrawing from this game. I understand that things were busy for everyone over the holidays. I even posted when I would be out, just above.

But the holidays are over and we're back to our usual rate of maybe two posts a week. This just isn't enough to keep me interested. Consider Wildir retired.

Allrighty then. Down to three and things have been pretty slow. Ill be honest that i'm not jazzed about retconning in new characters to the fight and i'm not sure we can wrap this fight up ourselves. S it time to put a pin in this?

Looking that way. I apologize for any part I may have had in this, guys. Getting back into teaching after the holidays has had me pretty swamped since my curriculum has been completely changed and I've been having to re-write all of my lesson plans.

If everyone is in agreement with Wildir, I'll close the campaign thread. Apologies again for any part that I've played in this.

Its been a tough one, and I do not think anyone is really to blame...just bad rolls and a hard time getting things rolling...it was fun while it lasted...

Seconded, no "fault" just is. Its always fun though. Even for the short bits :-)

I guess go ahead and shut 'er down, and we will see if we can get JR up to speed.

Since it seems to be the consensus, then, I'll go ahead and close this thread down. Thanks for playing guys! It was fun while it lasted!

This is a tough campaign and I think we faltered right at the start with a poor party mix..That in turn led to much confusion as we chopped and changed about and in the end I think we just sort of lost heart.
