Gob Slickarm |
Gob focuses and manifests ectoplasmic sheen under the barghest. Gob spits a curse and moves out ofthe doorway around the corner. If this thing gets clise to him, it's over.
how did gob make the save? Where is the extra +2 from?
Rune_Master |
I could have sworn that was an 18...my bad, Gob has the same penalties as Aylmora, above. That won't effect the ectoplasmic sheen, though.
Reflex save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
The quadrapedal creature's feet skitter and slide, but it catches it's balance and does not fall.
Thanadros nails a shot directly into the barghest, which roars in pain.
I am assuming Gornak did the weapon trick on everyone's main weapon, so they are +1 equivelant. He's been pretty religious about it so far.
Gornak up next.
Gornak |
Gornak will try to make an accelerated climb check to exit the fire pit (I assume it's 10' deep?):
1d20 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (15) + 6 - 5 = 16
Once he's out, he swings his hammer at the barghest. "Fool me once, shame on me. At least I can finally pick on someone my own size!"
with Bless and Big Game Hunter: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 11 - 2 + 1 + 1 = 163d6 + 13 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4, 3) + 13 - 2 + 2 = 21
"Oof!" he grunts as the wild blow causes him to overbalance.
Rune_Master |
Gornak vaults out of the pit in one bound, catching the barghest off guard. He swings, but the blow is foiled by the beasts thick hide, a fold deflecting the crushing blow.
Vaclav falls back and begins to intone a new spell.
The barghest lunges for Gornak.

Amulet is caster level 1st.
Gob's ray strikes home.
Gornak's swing sweeps over the monster's head and smashes into the wall with enough force to cave in a section.
Vaclave completes his spell: a white wolf surrounded by a glowing aura of divine light materialises, and with a howl attacks.
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
The wolf's teeth sink in and enrage the barghest.

It's teeth snap uselessly. Vaclav plies his own bow:

His shot flies wide. The barghest unleashes it's fury again:

Back. I see you rolled a little better than I would on that channel, Dabbler. :(
Vaclav watches the barghest rip into the half-giant. "Gornak are you all right?"
Hogarth, I buffed you 'cause I thought you were our best chance to land telling physical damage. Roll better. I command it!
Glad to see Thanadros doesn't need an align weapon buff. It looks like I'm going to have to convert that in to a cure.
Gob Slickarm |
Determined that he can crush the monster's mind if only he can find an opening, Gob rries the same attack.
DC 17 (3pp) will negates 3d10 ⇒ (10, 1, 2) = 13 damage.

Aylmora's energy strikes the creature full square, and it locks rigid as frost spreads like crackling diamonds across it's body. Gob's mind thrust finds no thought's to disrupt (you don't lose the power-points), Thanadros' shots drive into frozen hide, then Gornak's hammer comes down like the descent of the Starstone and smashes the barghest into a dozen frozen fragments that gradually crumble and fade to nothingness.
Nice going, guys! Despite some bad rolling, you soaked up the damage well and kept battering away at it, especially after it got the drop on you so early on.
You can see that there is a concealed alcove behind the broken stones, and it doesn't take long to find a second one. Investigating you find in one a silver coffer containing a ring. Each of the racks of candles contains thirty candles, burning eternally without heat.
Who wants to make their appraise and spellcraft checks?
Vaclav Rennet |

The candles have a kind of continual flame cast upon them, there are thirty in each rack and they are worth quite a lot all together - you imagine that the cathedral would pay a lot for them, and if not even common people might want them. You can sell them for 25gp each, the cathedral will gladly use them, total value 1500gp..
The silver coffer is worth a hundred gold pieces.
The ring is a ring of force shield. When it activates, the shield of force has a ghostly sihedron rune across it, like that of the doors and the amulet Gornak wears.
Thanadros |
"Fair point Gornak. We could switch roles if you wish. However, I must warn you, I am far better with my bow than with a sword." Thanadros replies as he picks up his remaining arrows.
"Is there anything left to explore here?"
...smashes the barghest into a dozen frozen fragments that gradually crumble and fade to nothingness.
It might be hard to parade any part of it gob...
Thanadros |
Thanadros nods. "Still, If you ever feel you need a brake from the frontline, let me know."
Once everything is collected Thanadros says. "Shall we be off? Gob, do you need to do more with the goblins before we take our leave?
Can I assume that we go back and pick up all the heavier treasure and get ready to go? Once Gob is done with the goblins of course.
Gob Slickarm |
"I will spend the day here and head back tomorrow. I'd hate to abandon them if there's any hope for them. Also, I'd like to continue searching for Master Quar for abit if anyone wants to stick around."
i figure if gob visits at least 1/wk, he can keep his presence known until he has time to devote to leading them. What is sandpoint's gp limit for purchases? Do we know how much party loot split is yet? Does anyone want gob's help for anything else? Do the goblins remember anyone by Quar's description??
Rune_Master |
Sheriff Hemlock is glad to hear that the goblin threat has been neutralised. He and Shellalu are dubious about Gob's plans, but agree that if abandoned then Thistletop will likely be reoccupied within a few months by another tribe of hostile goblins.
"Master Thanadros, may I speak with you?" he asks after introducing himself. "I assure you, I intend you no harm, but there are matters on which we must speak."
"Don't lose your friends," the old lady says at last. "Something stirs. Something older than old and more evil than the Abyss. It's like a cloud of darkness on my sight...and I am afraid," she trails off. "Don't lose them!" she snaps abruptly. "You'll need them. Don't know what for, but they are important, girl."
"My son, all decked up like a knight!" he exclaims and embraces you. "Damn, but your mother would be proud of you, lad." Business is going well, and on the back of your fame Gorvi seems to be trying hard to smarten up and be more respectable. His success is limited, but he seems oblivious with pride at your exploits. Everything you tell him gets embroidered out of all proportion in the tavern, but the towns people are so relieved to see Gorvi less belligerent (and less drunk) that no-one seems to mind.
Gornak |
He thinks a bit and adds, "Maybe we could even expand a bit. I bet I could make some simple weapons and armor, for cheap. Heck, we got enough scrap around here to scavenge materials from."
