"Behind me! I'll try to hold them off and resist their power. Gornak, does that thing you did make weapons magic?"
If Thanadros is successfully attacked by a shadow, he is going to use a pp to gain a +4 to his saves for a round.
I'm not going to change my AC or other stuff next to Thanadros' name unless it is permanent. The top of my post will have adjustments for those stats.
Aylmora Mvashti |
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Round One:
"What's going on?" Aylmora asks, stepping around the corner to see what the fuss is about.
Seeing the shadowy figures converging toward Gornak, Aylmora swiftly unleashes a blast of uncontrolled phrenic energy at one of the apparitions just beyond the half-giant.
Move action 25 ft to square I-11. Standard action to unleash Surge Blast at shadow in square K-5.

Thanadros swings his blade on target.
Incorporeal Miss Chance 50%: 1d100 ⇒ 45%
It sweeps through the creature without apparently making contact with anything.
The shadows approach, their long fingers reaching out, one each on Gornak and Thanadros while the third darts past that melee straight at Vaclav (both get AoOs):

When have I ever held anything back from you? If I don't post quickly in a situation like that Dabbler can assume that Vaclav will share any combat information and make the info public.
No save on the Str damage? Does Gornak's buff count as magic?
The shadow pounces as Vaclav grabs his holy symbol and holds it forth. "Unngh. Cold. "
Vaclav steadies himself and holds the symbolic bow high. "In Erastil's name and for all that is good, back. Flee the light! Die in darkness!"

In Pathfinder, there's no incorporeal miss chance -- attacks simply do 1/2 damage.
I don't believe it. Been playing it since dot and I completely missed that. OK, rather than recap, they take half damage after this fight, but this one still uses 50% miss chance.
There is one shadow remaining, the one fighting Thanadros, and it is injured.

Round Two:
Aylmora concentrates on Emyralda and releases the focus stored within the psicrystal to unleash a blast of phrenic energy toward the shadow threatening Thanadros.

I realized that I forgot to add the +1 damage from str +1/2 for using the bastard sword 2-handed. It's added in, and that is why the damaged is the same despite the str loss.

The blade passes harmlessly through the shadow, but Vaclav's channel finishes it off and it fades to nothing...
In a moment of silence that follows, you realise that one of Aylmora's careening blasts has struck some some stones in the West wall opposite the second alcove on the East wall. The stones have not broken, instead a section of wall has depressed slightly, making the outline of a secret door obvious...
Aylmora Mvashti |
"Look, a secret door!" Aylmora announces, pointing to the now-obvious, formerly hidden portal. "Let me check it out."
The young woman steps forward to examine the depressed section of wall, pausing for a moment to regain her mental focus before conducting her investigation.
Regain psionic focus for both Aylmora and Emyralda. Take 20 on searching secret door for traps for a total check of 32.

Gornak shivers. "Gee, those weird things really suck the life out of you, don't they? Here, let me give your weapons a psionic boost again, in case we meet more of them."
Use psionic focus to add Metaphysical Weapon to Thanadros and Vaclav's weapons. Duration: 4 minutes. Repeat as necessary to keep the effect going.
Vaclav Rennet |
"They come from beyond the grave and hate normal life. They want to leech life from you, but are like a hole that can never be filled. " Vaclav agrees. The cleric gratefully accepts Gornak's metaphysical weapon. He watches carefully as Aylmora examines the door.
Might as well detect magic while we're here.

Easier said than done, as the door is stuck fast from crusted salt and silt of millenia. With Gornak's help it is eventually forced open.
The sound of sloshing water fills this room, which has nearly collapsed entirely into a large tide pool that seems to glow from the light the sandy bed reflects into the room from the sunlit waters outside. What few walls do remain intact here bear detailed and impressive carvings of incredible treasuries filled to overflowing with coins, gems, jewelry, and other items of value. To the east, the walls depict a carving of a towering mountain, its peak carved in the shape of a stern face just above a great palace. Below, the side of the mountain’s valley cradles an immense city of spires.
In the pool, the remains of what must have once been an incredible treasury lie in the sloshing waters. Shattered urns, crumbled stone chests, rusted bits of once beautiful armor and weapons, and other long-ruined treasures from an ancient past lie below. Most impressive of them all is a large, coral-encrusted helmet sized for a giant; the helm measures nearly five feet across, and its full-face guard bears an expression of twisted rage and fangs. The helm itself appears to be made of gold beneath the layers of coral.
Place yourselves, please.

Plus the carving had two coins missing from the stack in different positions," Aylmora informs her companions as she follows along behind the group. Looking into the clear water, Thanadros can see that indeed much of the scattered coins and other items do look salvageable to even a moderately capable swimmer.

Aylmora's surge blast rings the helmet, shaking loose coral and anemones.
