"Middle of room" -- M8
Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Vaclav turns to face the opening door. His hands are full with his drawn bow. Seeing the bugbear so close, he turns, steps back and releases the arrow.

If I can get a 5' step away to M7, I'll take it. If not I'll just take the shot.

Surprised from the Bug Bear, it takes Thanadros a moment to ready himself for the attack. He turns from his location N8 and faces the Bugbear, notching two arrows and firing.

The bugbear and Gob act simultaneously. The big goblinoid surges through the door and across in front of the middle door to M-07. As he moves he tugs a massive heavy flail from his back and swings a crushing blow at Vaclav even as the latter struggles to raise his bow.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 Damage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
"Orik! Lyrie!" he bellows in a voice like thunder. "Intruders! Fight!"
Vaclav Rennet |
Even as Vaclav spins to fire, the flail causes him to step awkwardly back. He loses his firing posture and his bow drags his hand across his chest before finally ripping the arrow from between his fingers. The arrow skips off the floor.
Reference earlier attack roll and step to M7
Gornak |
Gornak comes rushing back out of the small passage (to M09) and swings his mighty hammer at the bugbear. "Finally, someone closer to my own size to fight!"
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 243d6 + 13 ⇒ (1, 6, 3) + 13 = 23
The bugbear presumably has soft cover from Gornak as well (+4 AC) since Vaclav is in the way.
Vaclav -- the bugbear is already in M07, so it might get a bit cozy...
Rune_Master |
Bruthuzmus snarls angrily as the crossbow bolt stings him, then looms up in surprise as Gornak surges into the room. He has never run into anyone bigger than him before, clearly. The big hammer crashes into his ribs, driving air out of his ribcage in a coughing grunt. His stiff leather armour absorbs some of the impact, but not all of it by a very long way.
"Orlik!" he bellows again, and whirls up his massive flail.
Aylmora up next.
From the door he left open come goblin cries of fear and alarm.
Vaclav Rennet |
Sorry, I meant M9. It's hard to keep addition and subtraction straight.
Nice hogarth! I am once again very glad Gornak is on our side.
Nice shot too GOb, if slightly less impressive on damage. BTW, you could have Snovli or Tudmunch reload for you.
Fear and alarm are good. Just so long as they don't turn to aid and organization.
Gob Slickarm |
Gob looks to his new 'tribe' and says, "You help us bring that big lug down, and you'll be heroes to the ladies in that room. We are starting a new tribe, right...?" Gob tries to motivate them into heroic action with desire.
Aylmora Mvashti |
Round One:
Aylmora fixes the bugbear with an angry glare and unleashes a massive mental assault upon the creature's thought pathways.
Standard action to use Mind Thrust augmented by Wild Surge on the bugbear (note: Mind Thrust used at manifester level 1 (1 pp) with wild surge +2 inflicts a total of 3d10 damage and increases the Will DC to 16).

Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 Damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 3) + 5 = 13
Even as the bugbear reels before the assault he shifts to one side and into the path of the other half-giant's blade. With one sweep he takes the bugbear's head clean off. Why can't I roll like that for the opposition?
You can hear footsteps approaching from North and South.
Gob Slickarm |
Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Still bug-eyed from the decapitated bugbear, Gob becomes a bit more alert, looking to his companions. "Shhh... Did you hear that? Sounded like footsteps to the north and south." Gob readies his crossbow and motions for the goblins to stay put.

The centre door to the south bursts open even as the bugbear falls. A big human in heavy armour bearing a massive shield and a huge sword stands ready-to-arms in the doorway. Thanadros shoots, and the man barely gets the edge of his shield in the way. The arrow slams into it, drilling through steel and wood until fully half the arrow has speared through the shield and stops short an inch from his eyeball.
Taking in the arrow and the fallen bugbear the man calls out:
"Parley!"

Even as the party pause, the door to the north flies open and a dark-skinned woman skids to a halt just inside the room. Make that several dark-skinned women, all identical, all shifting in and out around a central point.
Her eyes widen as she takes in the fallen Brathuzmus, and her face contorts in fury.
"Tsuto's murderers!" she snarls and with a few words and a gesture flames erupt from, her fingertips, fanning out in a wide cone-shape that embraces everyone but Aylmora.

Updated Map. I hope I placed Vaclav where he should have been, Gornak took up his target square, but correct me if I am wrong - not many other places would be five feet away from Bruthuzmus. He would get an AoO from there, but I believe he has a bow currently in hand and you cannot AoO with a missile weapon.

Always happy to make room for Gornak. Weapon in hand, depends how you rule this post from Saturday:
... Vaclav shakes his head in response to Gob, but trusting the goblin's senses, trades bow for mace.
Has V had time to actually make that switch?

Gob Slickarm |
Ref 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Gob grits his teeth and lets out an "Ahrggh!"
His eyes glow a little and the air is filled with static as the center of the room becomes filled with a slick, slippery liquid.
Entering initiative immediately before/after multiple woman appears in the doorway. Gob manifests ectoplasmic sheen in L/M-8/7 (DC 16)
"STOP! Everyone just calm down! We can fight after we sort this all out..."
Ectoplasmic Sheen
Discipline: Metacreativity (Creation)
Level: Psion/wilder 1
Display: Visual and olfactory
Manifesting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target or Area: One object or a 10-ft. square
Duration: 1 round/level (D)
Saving Throw: See power text; Power Resistance: No
Power Points: 1
You draw forth ectoplasm in an area, causing the surface to become slick. Any creature in the area when the power is manifested must make a successful Reflex save or fall. A creature can walk within or through the area of ectoplasm at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can’t move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Acrobatics skill for details). Creatures that do not move on their turn do not need to make this check and are not considered flat- footed.
The power can also be used to create a greasy coating on an item. Material objects not in use are always affected by this power, while an object wielded or employed by a creature requires its bearer to make a Reflex saving throw to avoid the effect. If the initial saving throw fails, the creature immediately drops the item. A saving throw must be made in each round that
the creature attempts to pick up or use the affected item. A creature wearing affected armor or clothing gains a +10 circumstance bonus on Escape Artist checks and combat maneuver checks made to escape a grapple, and to their CMD to avoid being grappled.
Augment: If you spend 6 additional power points, each target that fails a Reflex save to remain standing and falls must first make a Strength check (with the same DC as the Reflex save) to stand.
In addition, for every two additional power points you spend augmenting this power, the power’s save DC increases by 1.

Albrecht holds his action.
"Lyrie, give it up," the man calls, lowering his blade. "Burthuzmus is dead, and we can't fight this many without him - and frankly, I've no mind to. This is our chance to get out of this situation alive. Let Nualia take her cards as they've fallen, the only thing good about her was the gold she paid us."
The woman glares at the ranks of the party, but she's unable to stand and at a great disadvantage.
"Very well," she mutters as if the words stick in her throat. "Let us go and we won't fight or hinder you."
