The splicing would not damage the ship, it would potentially damage the power cells in the preservation crate. The way I'm handling it is if you get into a fight and take damage exceeding your damage threshold, there's a chance the damage will cause the preservation cells in the crate to fry. Sorry about the confusion, does that help with making a decision?
Daaneth Qilat |
It helps but Daaneth considers himself more of an elected official than anything else, he wouldn't want to force the rest of the crew go Balmorra without input. If no one else says anything then he'll divert to Balmorra though.
NT-2B |
"I can't leave Teeka on Balmorra, but, splicing those cells sounds risky if it damages the ship. I don't want to put our reputation at risk either."
Daaneth rubs his chin in frustration. "I'm seriously contemplating finding my own way there so you guys can deliver the goods." He signs, unsure of what to do. "Any opinions? What would you do, f your oldest friend was stranded and in need of help?"
"I do not have old friends." NT-2B replies. "But I do value life. I would not want for your friend to suffer, and nor would I want you to be captured. Though I am owned by Warrior Poet, you are my captain and I would not permit you to go alone."
"Of course, if everyone feels similarly, and it would be more beneficial, I could also take the ship myself to do the delivery, but I warn you that I may push it beyond safe limits in my desire to not abandon you for long. For instance, I could turn off life support, and dedicate more power to the engines."
NT-2B, taking steps towards Independence.
Vessani |
"I agree with NT. You ain't goin' alone," Vessani said, straightening up. "But I doubt our buyers would accept just a droid delivering the goods, so at least one, preferably two, biologicals need to be with him. I think the best split would be me and Jeren going with the captain, with Jarl and Jace making the delivery."
K.Tactics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 Would that be a good tactical choice?
Jarl Tehnos |
"Not2 bee an I can handle a delivery. The rest of you should go to rescue the Captain's friend. If you are in a bind you may well need Jace's skills to get you out...
But, what ship do we take and what ship do you take?"
Jeren Vallin |
"I think if we are to split up, then doing so evenly is probably the best choice," Jeren offers, essentially agreeing with Vessani. "It may be only truffles, Jarl, but they are expensive ones. And one never knows who may catch wind of such a delivery and want to do something about it."
Daaneth Qilat |
"An even split makes sense." Daaneth agrees. "Plus, we'll have Teeka with us, so we'll have another steady arm if we end up in some sort of fight." Daaneth is heartened by the offers to help.
"Now we just need to figure out how we're getting there. Jarl you take the Dwarf. It wouldn't be good for our image is we have to shuffle cargo between ships."
Not sure what roll would be relevant to know how much a shuttle to Balmorra might cost, but I'll give Galactic Lore a shot.

The Force is silent on this. Neither action seems to bring good or ill to the group.
Remember, Search Your Feelings is good for things in the immediate future. It is not for long-term.
It would likely take a week to a week and a half, but you could probably take a bulk transport to Balmorra. Such would likely cost around 200 credits per person. Otherwise you could see about hiring a ship just for yourselves, which might get you there in less time, but would cost more (depends on negotiation).
That seems like a good split. It gives decent combat ability with each group - NT-2B's inability to cause harm weighed against Jeren's poor aim with a blaster.
Vessani |
"I think this will be the best option for us for now. Without knowing more of the situation, a more specified plan would leave us scrambling once there," Vessani said, thinking quickly. "Daaneth, you would know more about the people involved. Is there anythjng special we would need to watch out for?"

As the others discuss how to best divide the group, NT-2B begins making complex calculations involving travel times and estimates for a daring rescue mission.
Can I come up with a good planet for us to meet on in between? If the Taris job is another ~5 days beyond the Balmorra rescue, it would make since for us to meet up on the return trip.
Daaneth Qilat |
"Alright, so we're splitting up. This should be interesting. Why don't we see about hiring a ship out to get to Balmorra, I should be able to negotiate a decent price, if not we can always go by bulk transport. In anyway, we should get moving so we don't delay the delivery too."

Jarl Tehnos |
Jarl, Not2bee, and Jace on the Dwarf
Daaneth, Jeren, and Vessani looking to book passage to Balmorra.
Jarl shakes the hands of his shipmates who are leaving, "Good luck Gents".
Not2bee you analyzed the coordinates for the jump to deliver the truffles right?
DM, Jarl would request to launch from the landing pad or would he just take off and worry about whether he was hailed?
GM Phntm888 |
Standard spaceport protocol is to request clearance. I would suggest requesting clearance, given there's a Star Destroyer in orbit, but if you want to just blast off, we can see what happens.
The group having agreed to split up with one group going to Balmorra to rescue Teeka and the other to Taris, Daaneth, Jeren, and Vessani gather their things and head out, looking through the spaceport for a ship either already bound for Balmorra or one they can hire to take them there. Unfortunately, every ship captain they speak to that is standing by a docking bay already has a destination and cargo. They do, however, suggest you try the Drunken Dewback, the spaceport cantina. You might be able to find someone there.
Jarl Tehnos |
Once the crew sets off to find a transport and the goods are stored below decks, Jarl contacts the spaceport, "This is the Pilot of the White Dwarf. I am requesting clearance for take off. Please advise".
GM Phntm888 |
"White Dwarf, this is Control. Take off is approved, however, you will need to wait five minutes, as we have a tanker ship heading up now and the Empire has requested we keep other ships grounded until the ship has reached orbit. We will contact you when traffic is clear."
Looking out, you do signs of a large fuel ship preparing to take off closer to the center of the spaceport.
Jeren Vallin |
"Well, call me pessimistic, but seeing as how it is called the Drunken Dewback, I somehow very much doubt it," Jeren replies in a conversational tone as the trio make their way to the aforementioned establishment.
Daaneth Qilat |
"What do you have against Dewbacks Jeren?" Daaneth flashes a smile at his friends as they head toward the catina. "Besides the classy ones just have expensive pilots, we're not looking for class."
Once they reach their destination Daaneth tries once again to find a pilot willing to fly them out to Teeka.

After a few moments, the voice comes back over the radio. "White Dwarf, you are cleared for departure. Safe travels."
As you walk into the cantina, you are immediately assaulted by a noisy combination of several different beings, as well as the melodic sounds of the Bith band providing background noise. A roped off section of the cantina has a few sabacc tables and what looks like some people playing pazaak. The cantina is clearly the happening place right now.
The place also smells of bad alcohol, but then you weren't here for a drink, were you?
Daaneth asks about, speaking to the bartender and a few of the patrons before he's finally directed to a table with a Devaronian and a Human sitting at it as people who might be willing to fly you to Balmorra.
Jarl Tehnos |
I believe that Not2bee already calculated the coordinates to jump to the destination DM.
Daaneth Qilat |
"Hear you might be willing to hire yourselves out for a trip to Balmorra. What's the going rate?"
Vessani |
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
GM Phntm888 |
The Devaronian smiles as you take a seat and says, "Well, that depends largely on how fast you want to get there, and how comfortable you are with Imperial involvement."
The Human chimes in, "You see, we've got a little-used route we can take to get there in less than the usual amount of time. However, it involves a bit of risk - getting a little closer than might be comfortable to a few gravity wells. Since it involves a bit of risk to us, it's a little extra. Plus, Balmorra's got a rather strong Imperial presence, so if we need to take precautions to avoid them, that's a little extra, too."
The Devaronian speaks again, "Of course, if you're not in any particular rush, or don't have any reason to worry about the Empire, the price does go down. It's all relative to your comfort and risk level."
You don't notice anything out of the ordinary]
Days: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Taking off from the planet, you make your way into orbit and to your launch point before jumping into hyperspace. It will take you exactly 5 days to travel to Taris.
Once you arrive, you see several other ships all waiting for clearance to land, as well as an Imperial Venator-class Star Destroyer. It would appear that the Empire is beginning to exert more of a presence in the Outer Rim.
Jarl Tehnos |
He then turns to Jace and Not2Bee, "The Imps must have been building overtime to have so many Star Destroyers active here on the Outer Rim. I wonder if the Core just has a dearth of Destroyers.
I mean the Navy and Army must even be bigger than it was in the Clone War. How can they find so many qualified people to man these vessels so fast? Or perhaps their qualifications are not all that sharp..."
Jace Concorkill |
From what I have been able to discern in my time since the Clone Wars and the Purge, these "Storm Troopers" are of a lower quality of solider than the clone troopers were. says the padawan.
Daaneth Qilat |
"Of course, you're being hired by an expert pilot and some experienced muscle, which means your ship might actually be safer just for having us on board. You let me pilot the thing, and you could even absolve yourself of any, um wrong doing as might be perceived by the empire, you know, in the unlikely event we get caught. That's got to be worth a little discount, right?"

The human snorts at the offer to fly the ship. "And let someone else fly the Star's Gambit? Forget it. No one gets behind those controls but the two of us. But, since you know your way around a ship, you might be able to help out with some small tasks, which is worth a discount. We'll fly you for 3,000 credits each. Sound like a good offer?"
FYI, the Venator-class Star Destroyer was the primary capital ship used during the Clone Wars, so they didn't have to build it. Also, keep in mind that the Kuat Drive Yards is probably capable of building a dozen Star Destroyers simultaneously at this time, not to mention the Fondor Shipyards, Bilbringi Shipyards, and Mon Calamari Shipyards as the ones currently under the most direct Imperial control. The Empire can churn Star Destroyers out at a pretty rapid clip. It's one of the reasons the Rebellion had such an uphill climb to victory.
After about a half hour wait, your comm crackles to life. "Ship identified as the White Dwarf, this is Taris Spaceport Control. Please state the purpose of your visit to Taris, as well as any cargo you may be carrying."
Jeren Vallin |
He pauses for but a moment, allowing himself the opportunity to concentrate and reach into the Force for assistance. "I would assume if each of us pays you, what, something around 1000 credits, that would be a reasonable amount. You do agree, do you not?"
Using a Force point.
Use the Force (mind trick): 1d20 + 12 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + 12 + (2) = 24

Wheee. Moving. How enjoyable.
"White Dwarf, this is Taris spaceport control. Please follow the beacon in, and prepare your ship for customs inspection."
The two frown, and say, "1000 credits is a reasonable amount, but we'll handle all navigation and piloting. It's our ship. There are other tasks we'll have you do."
