Our game is going to start soon. I am very much looking forward to playing with all of you, new faces and... experienced.

The following is information for new and experienced players regarding the Play-by-Post(PbP) format.

The obvious part is that this is the discussion thread for our game. Its purpose is to have a place where all the players can put their out-of-character(ooc) talk. It helps keep the gameplay thread story-oriented and focused.

Have a funny out-of-character quip? Discussion thread.

Need clarification on something? Discussion thread.

Want to tell everybody what happened to you today? Discussion thread.

Letting people know that you can't post for a while? Discussion thread.

Etc.

How to format your text: Underneath the box where you can type in comments, replies, etc, there is a button labeled "Show". Click on it for a reminder.

Bold text indicates what your character says aloud.

Italics indicates a character's thoughts.

Bold and smaller indicates a whisper.

Bold and italics indicates a telepathic message.

Out of character is unnecessary in discussion, but quite helpful for the gameplay thread.

Regarding spoilers: I know buttons are fun to push, but please be respectful of everyone's spoilers. If it isn't addressed to you, or doesn't indicate a message in a language that you know, don't look. Even if you think you can act as if you didn't have the ooc knowledge, it will be more fun to react without that knowledge.

If any of you does not like how you are portrayed in the gameplay post, please speak up. I'd rather revise things now, before they become entrenched.

Mostly, this is an opportunity for you to do some role-playing and play with the PbP format.

I will see what happens over the next day or two before moving the story forward. Hopefully, this will also provide some time for y'all to finish up background details, character profiles, etc. And maybe we will have another player join us in the meantime, once his duties as Creative Consultant are finished.

I think I read that basic speech is supposed to be in bold, but now looking at Ulfrik's post I'm not sure. Did I denote my speech correctly?

Couldn't find a good Aliase image for Dekkembe. For the record, he does NOT have a feathered headdress on. LOL

@DM: What does Ulfrik notice about Sidhe (my PER is +5)? Partially, I'm curious about: her eyes; her weapons (are guns unusual enough to cause interest, if they are not hidden?).

Is Dekkembe's appearance odd enough to capture Ulfrik's interest? (Have I ever seen someone Black/African (Mwagnan?) before?)

Just looking for natural conversation starters. Hey - I've never seen a weapon like that before... Where are you from, friend? I've never seen anyone like you before...

Re: Dekkembe: It is completely up to you. My impression of your guy is that a black dude would not be something that you have encountered, and you would probably be very intrigued.

In general: I wanted to do enough to set the scene, it is up to all of you to fill in greater details if you want them noticed. Like Ulfrik did with the greatsword. Or ask questions like these to help things along. So, good job! =)

Also, it is ok to "interject" something into a scene even if a few posts have gone by. Everybody understands that is a limitation of the PbP game. As a general rule, I will try to give everybody a chance to act before progressing the story.

Gun is neither hidden nor obvious. My poncho laps over it, but gets shifted around enough that my pistol's butt is visible in the holster.

@DM: Have a question about the display of magic in the world. I know this will be a broad question whose answer may vary some from region to region. Im trying to get a general sense of the world.

Is magic prevalent? Divine or arcane or both? Where on the spectrum is this campaign vs Jame's world of very low magic and my game where magic is very prevalent?

Because of the winter witches is magic seen as evil?

Are displays of magic something to be cautious of or more casual with? Ex: Mage handing one''s mead to one's hand at a table. Cantrips to entertain families at a marketplace?

Golarion overall: Medium to High magic world. Any worldly people, or metropolitan areas, it probably won't raise many eyebrows.

Heldren specific: You might get a few of those raised eyebrows, but no lynch mobs.

You aren't in Irrisen, winter witch territory. If you were, it would take a Diplomacy: Gather Info or Know: Local check to learn that.

As for PCs, that is up to them. Some might be ok with it, some might be superstitious.

RE: the interjection of Khaleesi to Sidhe - would that have been a good place to use the "quote" format? To have quoted Sidhe's earlier comment or post to make it clear that this was where Khaleesi was piping in?

And just my two-cents: I'd rather not try to play out an actual in-game game - i.e., Canary - as we could be days just waiting to get through a single hand. I do see it as a way for some of the others to join in - by offering strategies or advice, etc. But the actual card game itself is really just color while we wait for our other players to get involved.

Out of curiosity how keen is Sionna's hearing in her human form? Would it be the average of a human or would it be keener due to what her actual nature is? =D Trying to figure out if I heard the whispers of the other player while I was walking back toward my table or not.

Mechanically, you don't get a bonus to your senses. RP-wise, if you have an interesting or cool scene to play out, and you can reasonably justify it.... do it. In this case, you can be close enough to catch the whisper.

For everyone: Remember that things don't necessarily happen in the order that they are posted. Nobody should feel left out just because other people have posted reactions.

Sorry, folks, but I wanted to move things on, and we could be another WEEK just saying "hello" and nodding at each other as we feel each other out. Feel free to backtrack and RP if you like. I simply wanted to capture this response to the inciting incident.

I'm finishing up the intro story for Sidhe, Sionna and Khaleesi, and I plan to take some of my character description from there, so I just put my sheet up without it for now and will fill in description and background shortly. Thank you for the help with that, I'm sorry I took so long.

Guilty. I missed Kai's arrival at the table just before DM Slyness posted the inciting incident, so I jumped on the chance to get moving on the adventure.

I'm enjoying this, too! And it actually reads pretty well! I do worry about posting TOO much, though. I love to write, so it's hard sometimes to sit back and wait.

Guilty! While I did want to rp a bit more at the table with Kai, I did kind of overlook his post a bit at first without the icon, and went hogwild on the new stuff. I worry sometimes that I'm being a scene hog, which I don't mean to, but I'm having fun and I just keep posting whenever there's an opening. I hope I'm not annoying anyone.

I'm having a lot of fun, too. All of you are doing great. It's a blast to read.

Don't worry too much about scene hogging or posting too much. As long as people have an opportunity to post, we should be all good. And that's on me to keep an eye on tempo. In my experience, other players enjoy reading good RP, so, go nuts. The main thing is to not push into a different scene before people respond. Like right now, you guys are doing a great job of staying in the scene and announcing intent. Once we are caught up, it's on me to move forward.
