@Mayve It was a few days after the ordeal with the gnolls before your new companion began to confide in you. In the beginning he seemed troubled, somewhat quiet when you first met him. But now, as he loped easily alongside your horse while you rode north toward the port city of Nayim, his deep, sibilant rasp broke the morning air.
"That tomb...the Elderss of my tribe sspoke often of it. It was once a place to worsship T'zo T'kji, the Sswamp Mother. When I wass but a hatchling there wass a pilgrimage, but I yet had my egg tooth, and could not make the journey. These landsss, they have changed much. Or perhapss it is I. I have watched the sstars at night, they are...wrong...." He pauses and lifts his flaring nostrils to the sky and inhales deeply. "The winds tasste different. I yet hear my Mother's ssong, She iss here, but deep, deep beneath the sshifting sandsss." He pauses again and, for a brief moment, fixes his unblinking yellow gaze upon you. "And you, Maayve Tearwrought... the last human I ssaw could barely sspeak. It crawled through the mud like a beasst and wore ragss. The humanss that I know are not like you. They live in filthy cavess and barely know the gift of fire, they do not carry "ssteal," they do not understand the workingss of magic as you do. Thiss..."Empire" you sspeak of... humanss could not do ssuch thingss. I know not how I came to be here, but if it iss the Mother'ss will that I remain, ssso be it."
I don't see Irina hanging out in a desert, unless she was there with Mayve, so either she knew Mayve from before and is reuniting with her, or they met before and she accompanied Mayve to the desert. I can see Irina helping Mayve fighting this necromancer, so perhaps they met in Brewersbridge?
I am more than okay with this. Can't wait to hop into the world and get into some action! Also, the guy playing me says that he is "cool with it" as well. Whatever that means.
@DM aLittleTooQuiet: Aye, he will be. Did you get a chance to review the profile that I updated and/or have any questions? I want to make sure that everything is square before we get into the action.
If the board is up, the players can RP the meetup introductions...
I never heard back from the webgnomes, so I'll probably have to create a new campaign around a new gameplay thread and then move this thread over there.
I leave it to the DM whether this kicks off before (plot hook) or after Mayve drops off the "loot" at the Academy.
I'll probably start you and T'Zay in the academy. The inn everyone is staying at, conveniently enough, is right across the square, so you'll all be in the same general area.
Anything in particular anyone wants to be doing in the city when we start? Mayve and T'zay will be visiting the wizards at the academy. I can put you all in the inn if you don't have anything specific you want to be doing.

The Inn sounds good to me. Per his story, Rhane just came from a long, grueling adventure and is looking forward to a couple of days of rest and relaxation in the city before he continues his journey to report in to his Order.
Gliressa will have parted ways with Sevram and Rhane at the Inn, for the time being, and will be in back alleys talking to a committee of homeless people, passing on new knowledge, checking in with the state of their shelters, finding out about how giving the citizens currently are or are not, handing out books she stole from the abandoned library where she met Sevram and Rhane, giving out extra rations, etc. She's like a walking Salvation Army van at times like this. I'm kinda handwaving that she'll know people in any big city the party enters, but it'll be all homeless and destitute and low-level functionaries or guards. No one too useful in other words, so my fluff doesn't get ahead of my K checks. :-)
Glee will have told Sevram and Rhane that she'll come back to the inn to chat with them under more civilized circumstances (i.e., over an ale) in an hour or two, but that she's got businees to take care of first.
Gliressa wouldn't be planning on staying at the inn; she'd stay out in the streets.
The Academy is damaged, we should try and save as many magical relics as possible, time to raid the pantry, I mean vaults, I mean, save the good stuff...
Many apologies for not updating combat yesterday. I was busy at work and then it took me a couple of hours to update my characters in my playing threads.
Maybe posting the initiative order here at the start of the encounter and updating it each time something changes would be a good way to go about it? Oh and the DM rolling the PC's initiative so he doesn't have to scan all our posts and wait for us to make the roll before moving on.
Terribly sorry for the delay. I've overcome the biggest hurdle at work, so I should have more availability to post going forward.
For anyone who's remotely interested, my employer is launching a new web site for one of the largest corporations in the world, so obviously it's a pretty big deal to the folks who sign my paycheck. I regret that it had to interfere with more important things like gaming.
Just a little heads-up: I think I've mentioned it before, but I am a supervisor at a major electronics retailer. And we're two days out from Black Friday... so, I probably will not be able to contribute much until Monday when I have an off day. If I can at all, I will try and check in between now and then, but I can't make any promises. Just wanted to let you know that if I am holding back the game, feel free to make some attack rolls for me or whatever the situation dictates.
This combat should over shortly, and I don't want to get too far ahead of Rhane, but I'm off today until Monday, so I'll try to keep things going if people are going be around to post.
Just... umm... just as a thought. If someone has the capability to douse or heal the burning knight, that'd be swell. I am currently stabilized @ -5HP, but am still on fire. On the elemental's turn, I will burn for another 5 damage, which will put me to -10 and dead.
If not, it's cool. I understand.. just thought I'd throw it out there. Also: no matter the circumstances, I will not be posting my actions more than one round out, no matter what. That was a bad idea, lol.
Soo... what happened to Sevram? I haven't seen him post in ages. Also, I know I have been a little sporadic, but the Christmas shopping season is almost over!
...and then comes the post-holiday return season. >.< So, I should be able to be much more regular in a couple of weeks.
I'm in a tabletop kingmaker, between game sessions we do the kingdom expansion and invisiblecastle crashed. So those were our economy rolls.
Until you start fielding armies, the economy looks pretty whack. +120 economy on a DC 51. So those rolls were to sell magic items created by merchants during the month and basic resource production. Generally our kingdom is producing $280,000 gold a month, most of which gets spent back on expansion.
Work has been pretty crazy lately, and this is looking to be my busiest week yet. I haven't really had time to do the prep I need to do for the upcoming encounters.
I'm probably going to have to put this on hold for a week or two. I'll PM you guys when I've got things back on track.
