@ Vala: Welcome. ^^ I like Blademasters, so I look forward to working with you.
@ Rizzenmagnus: She didn't say shut up, though. ;)

Is Fia one of the objects of that intimidate / command?
On a related note, it seems like characters with high intimidate skills of their own should be harder to intimidate themselves. lol
Also, Happy (Early) Thanksgiving all! :)
RIZZENMAGNUS |
First, happy thanksgiving to all those in the states that celebrate the holidy. I spent the last 4 days deer hunting, and got nothing for my efforts. grr...
secondly, fia is not one of those. ill say that you lept through the opening before she issued her command upon the those in the room.
Ryvin Altessar |
Hello, my name is Ryvin. o_o I'll be your village idiot for today.
Darn it! >_< I can't believe I missed something so obvious! Aaagh! I am so sorry!
Fiallain Bo'airr |
Don't worry, those things happen, plus, this way we can get out of being scolded during battle.
P.S. Anyone remembers the name of the Aes Sedai Egwene originally sent us to find?
Yep, a few reminders from the 'old game'. Rizzen can confirm whether they're still in effect or not, or if he intends to take us a different direction:
1. Egwene's task given primarily to Litheene (what with Jasmine gone) was to seek out Merriane Celldon, a blue sister who had gone 'missing' in Cairhien. A seamstress named Daria was one of this sister's eyes and ears.
2. After Dumai's Wells, Alathea, Litheene, and Jasmine (I believe all three) swore fealty to Rand and were subsequently given over as 'apprentices' to the Wise Ones, and Inoreal (Fia's teacher) more or less left Fia 'in charge' (yeah right, lol) while we went off on Egwene's task. Fia was to continue her training via dream.
3. Jasper was to return some sort of artifact thingy, of which I don't remember a lot honestly.
4. An Asha'man gave us orders to report to the Sun Throne and the Dragon Reborn 'in three days time'.... which would be the day after tomorrow?
Alathea Sedai |
That sounds about right, Fiallain. Didn't Jasper return that artifact to the Black Tower before we all left for Cairhein, though?
Don't be ridiculous, Kodokura...Aes Sedai don't have tea parties. They have tea ceremonies!
Litheene |
Great, thanks for the reminder Fiallain.
From this I assume that the red (probably) that we encountered is not whom we were sent to seek, and thus it's probably best to keep that part from her. We will need to thread carefully around this one. This should be interesting.
Fiallain Bo'airr |
NP! I seem to recall being warned of Elaida sending operatives into the city, and that we should keep a low profile from them as well. Could be very interesting indeed.
Ryvin Altessar |
I think I've got a strategy. If you all can keep the Matron occupied, I can encase her sul'dam in ice. That'll keep her busy next round so you can Shield her.
Or you can try to Shield her right now. ^^;
A'Mar of House Issola |
GM; let me know the round I get back to the doorway; I think it will look like a general melee to A'mar with the ogier fighting and seeing a a melee at the rear which he will likely think is our Roeek coming to help us so I am thinking A'mar will charge into battle.
Ryvin Altessar |
The forum is acting up again. I can't seem to get into any of my character profiles or the hotlinks to my campaigns. *puzzled* I keep getting redirected to the main page.
Kodokura |
I'll also apologise for being largely out of action, although Kodokura would probably be doing exactly what my absence has resulted in - hiding and observing.
Among other things, a large fire resulted in no phone/internet in my town for over a week... How agricultural!

Sorry to hear that, Kodokura! Given your town's large fire, I hope that you not having phone/internet is the worst of what you're dealing with.
Ryvin Altessar |
Yay for levelling. ^^ I have decided to take the Bend Dream feat -- unless there are any major objections to this. No introduction to any of the 'lost' channeling disciplines yet, so I can't very well take Traveling. ;)

Question related to Under the Dragons Banner the Master Treesinger has Latent Old Blood as a Pre-requisite. I would think that Latent Treesinger makes more sense, let me know if you agree Rizzen.
I think I am going to take a level in Armsman (not sure what Bonus Feat I am taking yet EDIT: Combat Expertise). Taking Treewarden feat (intending to enter the Master Treesinger class). I will allocate skill points as follows: Treesinging +1, Disable Device +2, Knowledge Age of Legends +1, Perception +1, Sense Motive +2, and Stealth +1.
I will also be gaining a +1 BAB, +2 to Fortitude and +1 to reflex saves.
Fiallain Bo'airr |
Hey Rizzen, I had a few questions to run by you before I finalize Fia's level up. Sorry it has taken so long, been swamped between holiday and work stuff. Also, hope you're feeling better!
* First, how much to you foresee the dreamworld being used in your campaign? I started the Wise One prestige class back under Jonasty thinking he would be using Tel'aran'rhiod a bit. I want to be sure this is still the case before I go too far into the Wise One prestige class, since a great many of the abilities of the class are specific to dreams. I'm fine either direction, but if 'rhiod might not play much of a part of your plot, (or if it would sidetrack too much from the other characters - not sure how many of the others, if any, plan to dreamwalk) Fia might be better served either going back to either wilder or initiate, or possibly modifying the Wise One class to, in Fia's case, be more 'channeler-centric'. However, if you do see the dreamworld as being useful in the campaign, I'm fine continuing on as is. Just let me know.
Second, what are your thoughts on retraining feats? Fia has a few which are no longer all that useful, due in part to her becoming a wise one. Specifically, I'm thinking of Weapon Focus: Spear. Since she is no longer allowed to carry them, the feat is kinda dead weight - unless perhaps it can be used with the fiery 'sword' weave.
So,
*Can weapon focus be used with that weave, and if so:
*Does using the weave to create and use a spear (or other weapon) violate Wise One traditions / Ji'e'toh, etc...
*Depending on your answers to the above, would it be alright to retrain this to another feat - either perhaps weapon focus: unarmed strike, or dodge, or even a channeling feat as she leaves the life of a maiden behind...
I wouldn't assume to change the feat mid-combat, it can wait until the next level up or after the current fight, or whenever you choose.
Third, I am thinking of taking the Mirror of Mists weave, but the wording leaves room for interpretation. It says that you 'grow in size', up to quadruple your normal height. However, it says nothing about the usual effects of growth (like 'enlarge person', which might change AC, reach, HD, etc in other games). Do you see this weave as being purely illusion, simply tricking any onlookers? Or does the weaver actually literally grow in size? What, if any, are the side effects of that growth?
I think those are the big questions, for now at least. Sorry for the wall of text!
RIZZENMAGNUS |
to fia's questioning
1) yes, i do see the campaign going into Tel'aran'rhiod, so having dreaming feats will be a bonus to have.
2)let me think on this one....
a)weapon focus applies to the weapon of choice. It doesnt matter what the spear is made out of. So for a spear to be made out of Saidar or Saidan, its still the shape of a spear, so Weapon focus and weapon spec rules apply.
b)I think if you use the weave as a last resort, when all your other weaves are depleted, then you can use it and continue to fight. A wise one will not take part in combat, unless to defend herself, or she is Shaido wise one. I'll even allow that if you create the spear at the beginning of combat, but do not not use it until absolutely neccessary.
c) answered above

So...is anyone else getting A Memory of Light today? I'm heading out at lunch to the nearest bookstore. If I didn't have to work, I'd get it as soon as the store opened.
I've been alive longer having read A Wheel of Time than I had before reading it. While I'm certainly looking forward to seeing how it ends, I'm kind of sad that it is ending.
Fiallain Bo'airr |
I have yet to read any of the 3 Sanderson books. I was saving them to read back to back. Problem is, now that it is here, part of me wants to start reading again at book one...
RIZZENMAGNUS |
i have to wait till next paycheck to pick up the book. Last night i started reading the towers of midnight, but am having problems with recalling all the info about whats going on. I may have to go back further and reread some of the other books...
course i could find someplace online that has chapter summaries, thatll make things go faster.

I just received a message from tesliin saying that she can no longer join us within the game. A new promotion at work will be keeping her from doing the PBPs.
So i want to say thanks to Tesliin for the last year+ of gaming; it was alot of fun having you.
now, what to do with a'mar....
Rhoekk of the Tardaad Aiel |
My wife ordered me the limited edition version for my birthday, so I'll have to wait for it to arrive in the mail.
Congrats to Teslin on the promotion, but it will be sad to see her go...
