[ACG Playtest] The Sarkorian Prophecy (Inactive)

Game Master RainyDayNinja

When a novice Pathfinder in the Grand Lodge of Absalom discovers an account of a long lost prophecy which may hold the key to defeating the Shadow Lodge, a team of brave agents heads into the heart of the Worldwound to recover the document. Not only do the forces of the Abyss and the demon-tainted environment stand in their way, but so does a rival team of Pathfinders set on recovering the Sarkorian Prophecy first.

I'd like to give the new classes from the Advanced Class Guide playtest a run for their money, so I'm going to start a PbP at mid levels. A few rules:

-This is a PFS scenario, but will NOT be PFS legal, because you'll be creating new ACG characters from scratch.
-Otherwise, we'll roughly follow PFS conventions (no crafting, all Paizo material legal, but no 3PP)
-You MUST play one of the ACG playtest classes. You can multiclass with other classes, but the ACG class has to be an integral part of your build (this is a playtest, after all)
-I'm shooting for between 4 and 6 players. If we only get 4, then we'll play at level 11, but if we get more than that, we'll play at level 10.
-Standard WBL, 20 point buy, full HP at first level and average rounded up after that.
-Submissions should have the character fully built to level 10, but gear can wait until after you're selected
-Since we're testing new mechanics, this will be a bit light on the roleplay, but still try to have a personality.

I'd like to get this started over Thanksgiving weekend, so submissions will close on the night of the 27th (unless we get a solid party before then). I don't expect posts on Thanksgiving Day, but I'd prefer if you have time to post the rest of the weekend.

Any other questions, just ask!

I'd be interested in giving the hunter or slayer a spin. I'll see what I can come up with.
As you didn't mention it do you want a backstory with submissions?

A backstory is nice, but not hugely important. Just remember that you're an agent of the Pathfinder Society, so that should fit in. You're not going to have a chance to find your long-lost mentor, or avenge your parents, etc., so an elaborate backstory is probably a waste of time.

I'm interested in a Bloodrager, I'll have one built quite soon.

Dark Archive

I am down for doing an investigator...will throw something together and post it

I'm up for a warpriest, especially now that they are getting proficiency in favored weapon.

Sounds neat! Do you mind if another warpriest throws her glove into the ring? I'll post again once I get a build done for 10th level.

How about an arcanist to make party of six?

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 32

Dotted. I'm gonna build up an arcanist.

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

@Qunnessaa: I'd prefer not to double up, so we can maximize the experience for the playtesting

-Posted with Wayfinder

I want to see how the Swashbuckler holds up, dotting and will stat her out soon.

dot with interest.

either bloodrager or brawler

Ill get something together for a Arcanist soon.. Sounds fun..

I'm very much interested. I'd like to try for an arcanist, but I see there are a couple of those applying already.

Put me down for a brawler.

Silver Crusade

This is a build in progress. You can see point buy and feats/class features by level in the profile.

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Oh, I forgot to mention: core races only

Silver Crusade

Alt racial abilities OK?

With so many arcanists applying im switching to a slayer, or a skald..

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Alt racial traits are fine. Which reminds me: two traits to start as well.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Just got into another test game. So I won't be submitting an arcanist after all. Good luck to everyone...

I need to dash off will work more on this character later, I didn't see the only core races till now so she'll likely change race, at the moment she is a catfolk. No equipment yet except the minimum amount to explain her build.

(Level 7) Crane Wing: Once per round while using Crane Style, when you have at least one hand free and are either fighting defensively or using the total defense action, you can deflect one melee weapon attack that would normally hit you. You expend no action to deflect the attack, but you must be aware of it and not flat-footed. An attack so deflected deals no damage to you.

--------------------
SPECIAL ABILITIES
--------------------
Bravery (Ex): At 2nd level, a swashbuckler gains a +1 bonus on Will saving throws against fear effects. This bonus increases by 1 for every four levels beyond 2nd.

Swashbuckler Finesse (Ex): At 2nd level, a swashbuckler gains the benefits of the Weapon Finesse feat with light or one-handed piercing melee weapons, as well as gains a +4 bonus to her CMD on disarm, steal, and sunder attempts made against these weapons.

Nimble (Ex): At 3rd level, a swashbuckler gains a +1 dodge bonus to AC while wearing light or no armor. Anything that causes the swashbuckler to lose her Dexterity bonus to AC also causes the Swashbuckler to lose this dodge bonus. This bonus increases by 1 for every four levels beyond 3rd level (to a maximum of +5 at 20th level)

Swashbuckler Weapon Training (Ex): At 5th level, a swashbuckler gains a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls with one-handed or light piercing melee weapons. While wielding such a weapon, she gains the benefit of the Improved Critical feat. These attack and damage bonuses increase by 1 for every four levels beyond 5th level (to a maximum of +5 at 20th level).

Redirection (Ex): At 1st level, as an immediate action, a flowing monk can attempt a reposition or trip combat maneuver against a creature that the flowing monk threatens and that attacks him. If the combat maneuver is successful, the attacker is sickened for 1 round (Reflex DC = 10 + 1/2 the monk’s level + monk’s Wisdom modifier to halve the duration), plus 1 additional round at 4th level and for every four levels afterward (to a maximum of 6 rounds at 20th level). The monk gains a +2 bonus on the reposition or trip combat maneuver check and the save DC for redirection increases by 2 if the attacker is using Power Attack or is charging when attacking him. The benefit increases to a +4 bonus and an increase of the saving throw by 4 if both apply.

Unbalancing Counter (Ex): At 2nd level, a flowing monk’s attacks of opportunity render a struck creature flat-footed until the end of the flowing monk’s next turn (Reflex DC 10 + 1/2 the monk’s level + Wisdom modifier negates).

Evasion (Ex): At 2nd level or higher, a monk can avoid damage from many area-effect attacks. If a monk makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, he instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if a monk is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless monk does not gain the benefit of evasion.

Cat's Luck (Ex) Once per day when a catfolk makes a Reflex saving throw, he can roll the saving throw twice and take the better result. He must decide to use this ability before the saving throw is attempted.

Clever Cat: Catfolk's generally friendly disposition doesn't preclude craftiness. Some of them see social obstacles as games to be played and won. These catfolk receive a +2 racial bonus on Bluff, Diplomacy, and Sense Motive checks. This racial trait replaces natural hunter.

Sprinter: Catfolk gain a 10-foot racial bonus to their speed when using the charge, run, or withdraw actions.

Lorkov grew up mean on the streets of Absalom, not knowing his past or his parental heritage, doing whatever he could not to just survive but to be on top. He loved to fight, to destroy, and to cause heartache. He became a gang leader and fought to carve out his little kingdom there on the streets. He was the worst sort of leader, arrogant, dumb, and strong enough to bully his way past most troubles.

Until she came along. She was a half-elven cleric of Shelyn, and she didn’t take crap from anyone, especially him. He fell in love instantly because no one else had really stood up to him that was smaller or without power. It fascinated him, it intrigued him, he wanted her completely. He found out that she was a part of that Pathfinder society, and so he left his gang and joined up. Eventually he won her respect, not due to his brains, but to the fierceness of his resolve, and partly to prove to her parents that the power of love could change even the worst sort.

He carries a small portrait with him wherever he goes, and few tease him about it, as they don't want to incur his wrath.

Change of plans. After deliberating the fact that I consider the Hunter the most underpowered and uninspired of all the classes in the playtest, I've decided to make one, to see how it works out in play. I might be wrong, after all, so here's to finding out ;).

Switched up to a dex based guy.. Gotta buy some more gear as well..

The slayer strikes my as super boring and rather uninspired so I'm gonna shoot for a hunter. Gonna try and get the most out of my AC so I'll likely make it a tiger...

How is HP done?

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Full at first, half rounded up after that (6 for d10, etc.)

Silver Crusade

Here's the beginnings of a warpriest, with spell selection, equipment, and a bit of backstory still to come. Alternatively, if the Paladin of Baha-who? is still around, I could drop in a skald instead.

Player Hp is full at first level, and alf rounded up at others. How do I figure out animal companion hp?

Here's AZ's submissiom, rough draft version.

Yes, this is my boomstick warpriest.

Animal companion HP is average rounded up for every HD, The Dragon.

How about prestige points? Can we get some of those?

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Animal companion HP is 4.5 for each HD (no rounding until you get the total). And I don't think you need Prestige Points; you have normal gold for your level.

Silver Crusade

You're right, sorry, my mistake about the AC HP. I just realized that WarPriest isn't eligible to take the Warrior Priest feat. How weird is that?

How would giving a big cat Improved and greater trip interact with its full attack actions? Could I have it forgo a claw or bite attack to trip with it instead?

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

You can always forgo a melee attack to make a trip attempt.

Right. Hadn't quite thought that idea through. Combat expertise and all those funny details. Hmm. I need another way to reliably create attacks of opportunity.

At any rate, I've completed all the mechanics of Arae Garven Link, half elven hunter, save for magic items. Snowfang, her tiger companion is in the works, and will be done in a few moments. I'll create an alias if I get chosen, and probably dot down fluff tomorrow.

Silver Crusade

Adonara's now updated with traits and a bit of backstory. I think she would play a bit differently from Kuwabara, but I don't mean to wheedle, or to step on his toes, so in the spirit of the GM's opening post, I'll just ask: would you prefer me to post the skald I've rolled up, Mr. Ninja? :) I'm more or less done with the crunch, and I could come up with a bit of background tomorrow.

I won't be having the chance to actually play, but I have a build for a level 10 Bloodrager that someone can use.

Spoiler:

Human Bloodrager 10, Arcane Bloodline

Sadly you're never gonna qualify for Combat Expertise...I've given up on the hunter. It's just soo much worse than inquisitor it's not even funny...

Will be submitting a slayer with an AC instead.

Dotting as a Brawler.

Can a new player at pathfinder try a new class? Want to try arcanist or investigator.

Well, the bad half of a druid is still better than say... a fighter, for example.

Alright, all gear is purchased and updated.. He's ready to go..
