Hullo all! Nice to meet you, and I look forward to playing together. I'm still new to the OP version of PACG, so please bear with me if I make any mistakes.

I signed up with Korundo, but any deck I make will be starting at the ground floor, so I can swap if needed. (Hunter, Druid, and Magus are the class decks I own.)

Lone Shark Games

Hi! I'm also flexible and will cheerfully play whatever's helpful for the party. I picked Rivani cause she looked like a great fit for the group and Occult 1 is still new and shiny.

I own all the class decks.

Greetings, and welcome to the Play-by-Post(ing) version of the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game (PACG).

Could everybody let us all know how much experience they have with PACG?
One of the things that is hardest to replicate in PbP is the discussion that happens at most PACG tables as to what the overall strategy is, what we could each do to help out with a particular problem, or even just what would be the best thing for a particular character to do at this point in the game. It's pretty daunting for a relatively inexperienced player to have to cope with all of those problems in a face-to-face game; it's even harder in PbP play!

To novice players: If you're unsure about anything, don't ever be afraid to ask for advice or explanations.

To expert players: Remember we can't see you (or your cards), and probably don't know your character anywhere near as well as you do. If you're doing something clever (or complicated), please explain what you are doing so we can all learn from your expertise.

I'm basically a novice; I'm playing through Skull & Shackles right now and have played the computer game version of RotR as Pathfinder Adventures. I haven't played Mummy's Mask at all, though I have read its rulebook. I think I have at least a basic grasp of strategy, but I'm not sure how grounded that feeling is in reality... so it would indeed help me if people could explain what they're doing when it's non-obvious. And feel free to let me know if I try to do something that's a dumb idea, or fail to take an action that should be a no-brainer.

I'm also freaking out a liittle bit (in a good way!) that I get to play with Keith Richmond. Boy, the things the internet allows you to do these days...

Oh, that Keith guy? He ain't nothing special. :-P

So glad to see everyone revving up for OutPost. I'm very excited to see how this all works out, and I'll be following along all the games as I'm able.

Lone Shark Games

I'm pretty experienced at playing PACG over PbP. I'm happy to give advice if asked, but tend to avoid doing it until later game when winning may be in question.

If I don't want any of my cards used, I'll try to point out which, but otherwise feel free to use any of my cards and powers. I actually give a link to the sheet I use for my character every turn so you can discard, draw, whatever cards on me if you want.

Please point out any errors in what I do - I sometimes totally look at the wrong location's cards, and I also mostly play cards from memory for PbP which is... a pretty imperfect way to do it, even if it is the lazier way to save some time :)

Hi!

I have been playing PACG since the RoTR set came out. The only set I haven't played is Skull & Shackles.

However, I wouldn't call myself an expert, as I've mostly played solo all this time and it is entirely possible that I have misconceptions about rules and such.

Please let me know if you notice me doing anything questionable or plainly against the rules!

Yikes...sorry I'm so late to the party. My RPG games were mustering so I figured it was a good idea to find my way to this table as well.

My experience with PACG is minimal...I cranked through the iOS version of the game and have played a bit of the Mummy's Mask intro adventures solo. Needless to say this is my first ACG PbP experience as well. (although I'm highly experienced at PbP on the RPG side of things.) Good news is I'm usually a quick learner.

I'm hoping to play Salim (the inquisitor) but I also have the cleric and ranger class decks if either of those would better suit the party (or if someone more experienced thinks that they may be easier for a first time player.) The best thing about the Inquisitor deck is that there doesn't appear to be any errata to worry about!

Shadow Lodge

I think you've got a pretty good party there!

All the major skills are covered at d8 or better - no weaknesses there.
You've got three capable melee combatants, and almost all of the secondary skills are taken care of as well.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

As you all can see, the site had a major update last night. There are some more navigational updates that are planned to go up soon, so hopefully this doesn't hurt OutPost too badly overall.

So I just noticed Occult Adventures Character Deck 2 was finally released and ordered it. Would it be too late for me to switch characters to Yoon from that pack if the deck arrives on Monday?

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

I have no problem with you switching if you'd like to, as long as you send me the verification image showing you own it.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Just checking in, it looks like we've got all the players over here, which is great! Looking forward to seeing how all these tables turn out! :)

My package came in early! I've sent cartmanbeck proof. I have decided to play as Erasmus instead. He looks like tons of fun!

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Harrower

What is the adventure deck number for this mission? Is it 1?

Shadow Lodge

Gentleman, Race: Grand Prix of Absalom, Middle Class

Yes - this is Adventure 3-1A (Adventure Deck 1)

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Harrower

I'm seeing that all the locations contain only 5 boons and none of them seem to have any banes or "?" cards. Is this right? Am I missing something?

Lone Shark Games

Yep, I'm guessing the app has a flag to work as a siege scenario (defensive stance, all banes are pulled into a scenario deck) and it's erroneously checked off. I've just PMed John to please fix it. We should avoid taking turns until it is.

Shadow Lodge

Gentleman, Race: Grand Prix of Absalom, Middle Class

All fixed (sorry about that - it's my first time using the app, and the starter database I was given has that flag already checked)

@Akaitora - it should be fine for Erasmus to take his turn now!

Is there somewhere that says what the scourges are? I looked in the rulebook but it just has the names.

Lone Shark Games

They're cards. This should cover everything we need for AD 1:

Scourge Table:

1-2 Curse of Poisoning
3 Curse of Vulnerability
4 Curse of Daybane
5 Curse of the Ravenous
6 Curse of Withering
7 Curse of Fevered Dreams
8 Curse of the Sphinx
9 Curse of Blindness
10 Curse of the Mummy

Curse of Poisoning:

While displayed, after you reset your hand, recharge a random card for each Curse of Poisoning next to your deck.
“Lo! The fire burns hot in your veins!”

Curse of Vulnerability:

While displayed, you may not reduce Acid, Cold, Electricity, or Fire damage dealt to you. If you are dealt 2 or more Acid, Cold, Electricity, or Fire damage, banish this card.
If you already have Curse of Vulnerability displayed, banish this card.
“O, wretches! You stand helpless before me!”

Curse of Daybane:

While displayed, at the start of your turn, if the top card of the blessings discard pile has the Basic trait, you may explore this turn only if you play a card or use a power that allows you to do so.
If you already have Curse of Daybane displayed, banish this card.
“Know this! The Orb of Ra destroys all!”

Curse of the Ravenous:

While displayed, at the end of your turn, roll 1d4 and bury all cards in your discard pile of this type:
1. blessings
2. allies
3. spells and weapons
4. items
If you already have Curse of the Ravenous displayed, banish this card.
“A plague of famine upon the nation!”

Aha, thanks for copying over the text.

Keith beat me to it (I grabbed the cards out of the box last night, but didn't get round to posting the text)

Deck handler

Keith, I believe I have the strongest divine in our group. I also have a Cure that I’d just as soon not leave sitting in my hand. Would you like me to come heal you, then you could hand off your cure on your turn? I’m not sure about having three of us piled up at that location though.

Lone Shark Games

If you want to close the Windswept Chasm, sure, head my way.

If you'd rather not, then I can hand it off to you next turn. On my own I'd head towards the Shifting Dunes, but I could meet you anywhere.

In future scenarios, I'll try to start with Korundo on the off chance I draw the Cure early. Well, at least until I replace it with something else, but it's not a bad thing to have another of...

Deck handler

I'd be fine with closing it, so sure. Party at the windswept chasm!

I'm a Cure hoarder, so I hate to see them poof off into banishment, heh.

Deck handler

Another oops, I just looked at the ankylosaur's powers again and realized that I could have put the henchman back on top of the sulfur pits after I failed to defeat it, and might have been able to close on that turn. At least I'll be less likely to forget if it comes up again. It's all part of the learning process...

Salim

Had I recalled the special temporary closing rule I probably wouldn't have decided to do so...but having committed I just rolled with it. (pun intended.) At this rate Salim should be out of your hair soon enough!

Deck handler

I can... heal you... once I get a Cure?

And then hope that plan works out better than it did this time. : /

Lone Shark Games

Alas, the dice taunted you a little bit there. This Windswept Chasm has _not_ been nice to us.

On the plus side, Salim's sacrifice saved us a blessing lost.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Harrower

Hi guys,

Today my house is out of power due to a snowstorm, so I'm not sure I will be able to post for my turn. I apologise in advance if that's the case. I will post as soon as I'm able.

Oh no! Stay safe.

Deck handler

Ok, I'm trying to process our status and strategy. The situation changes with every turn, but as for where we stand currently...

Right now we have two closed locations and two more that are almost empty. The blessings deck is half gone. We have four more turns through our characters before we run out of time. The villain is either at the Windswept Chasm (possibly) or (more likely?) at either the Brickworks or Sulfur Pits.

It seems like it would be good to close down Tarworks, so we don't have to worry about temp closing or the villain escaping there. I guess it would also be good to close the Windswept Chasm, if the villain is actually not there? Open locations also allow defeated henchmen to escape there, and it seems to me that it would be better to keep them contained.

Between Brickworks and Sulfur Pits, we should have somebody at each one ready to temp close, since we don't know when we'll bump into the villain. And then we need to work through those locations. (And hope the villain isn't hiding all the way at the bottom of whatever deck he's in. Right at the top wouldn't be great either, with our present configuration.) I don't recall exactly where all the henchmen ran away to, but I could go back and look to be sure. Chances are high to encounter one of them, so that would let us either close the location or clear out all the cards except for the villain, and then we'd know where he is.

What I'm not sure about it who should go where. If we're getting toward ending the scenario, then the Sulfur Pits will be basically an auto-close - just take the damage, or deflect it with armor if you can. Korundo has a d10 for Strength so maybe he should go to the Brickworks, but I'm not familiar with your characters so I don't know if anybody has special tricks to help there.

If you read all that, thanks for putting up with my external processing. Any thoughts/corrections/suggestions?

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Harrower

Power is back! Yay!

I think I'll go explore Brickworks. If I use my power, closing that location is nearly guaranteed for me and if I were to encounter the villain in the Windswept Chasm it would be a lose/lose scenario, as we would be allowing it to escape to a location that has 11 cards in it (he would be the 12th).

Shadow Lodge

Gentleman, Race: Grand Prix of Absalom, Middle Class

FYI - the first Henchman ran away to the Shifting Dunes.

As Keith has now closed that location, there is only one extra henchman around (the one Keith fought at the Shifting Dunes), who is somewhere in the Brickworks. The other henchman at the Shifting Dunes got banished when the location was closed.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Harrower

I'm sure Erasmus can defeat the Bonecrusher Master this turn if you guys are willing to take the damage from temp closing the other locations.

Should I go for it? Or do we want to continue exploring for more boons?

Lone Shark Games

Winning and going to the next one sounds fine to me, personally. Let's see - Sulfur Pits have:

M:1 Ba:1 W:1 Sp:1 Ar:1 I:0 Al:0 Bl:1 ?:3

So... 4 banes, 5 boons (W, Sp, Ar, 2 Bl). Odds aren't too bad.

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Harrower

Erasmus preference for card upgrades is as follows, in order of most wanted to least wanted:

-Weapon C
-Ally C
-Ally 1
-Armor 1
-Armor B
-Blessing B
-Spell B

A couple of quick questions...with the exception of the letter "B" all of the additional cards in my class deck are numbered. (In other words I don't have an Ally or Weapon "C".) Does "C" fall between "B" and "1" or is "C" synonymous with "1"?

Also when choosing my Skill feat...is it better to improve a skill I'm already good at or buff up a medium or low skill?

Deck handler

Huzzah! Well done!

From the guide: "If a card has a letter for the set indicator, treat its adventure deck number as 0." So C is equivalent to B.

I looked through my available cards and think my upgrade preference list would be like this:

Ally 1
Ally B
Weapon B
Armor 1
Armor B
Spell B
Blessing B

I'd be about equally happy with any of the top three though, and none of them are really bad. Everything feels like an upgrade when all you have is basic!

My preference would be:

Weapon B
Armor 1
Armor B
Ally 1
Blessing B
Ally B

I can’t use spells until I get my first card feat.

Lone Shark Games

My order:
Spell B
Spell B
Blessing 1
Blessing B
Blessing B
Weapon B
Item B

So... Spell B preferably, and if not I'll take one of those many Blessing Bs :)

Liberty's Edge

Male Half-Orc Harrower

Alright, so if I take Ally C, Deane takes Weapon B, Elinnea takes Ally 1 and Keith takes Spell B, we all get either our first or second pick. I'm happy with this.

I will take the Ally C, unless anyone disagrees.

Agreed....and since you're gracious enough to be the only one not getting their first pick I'll support you getting your top pick next round.

That sounds good to me. And it would be fair to let Akaitora get first pick next time.

If anyone wouldn’t mind explaining what you’re choosing to upgrade and why, I’d find it interesting.

With an Ally 1, I’m planning to swap out the Dog to get a Snow Leopard, which exchanges a very specialized skill for the ability to add 1d4 to any combat check, so it will benefit everyone as well as myself. Attacking with animals seems to be Korundo’s bread and butter (or at least it’s what I enjoyed the most during this scenario) so I try to keep at least one in my hand and want to make the most of their other powers.

The Melted Blade was my motivation for picking a weapon as my top choice. I’ll swap out my rapier for it. Still considering what I’ll take for my skill feat.

Lone Shark Games

Deane: Salim is actually the Owner of the Melted Blade, so you could have started with it.

Sounds good on Akaitora getting first pick next time.

I've convinced myself to take the Spell 1, since no one else wanted it, and I can get those other two spells I want later. Replacing Mind Thrust with Inflict Pain.

Took Int for my skill feat. Rivani is ready to proceed. In the next scenario, I'll be going to the Smiths of Wati, as well as the Sunburst Market (3P benefit).

I thought I couldn’t start with it because it wasn’t listed on the back of my character card. The PACG guide specifically calls out the promo cards for the miniatures set but The Melted Blade is not one of them.
