Scarlet, seeing the effects of the little blobs demise, takes a 'five foot' step to keep out of the spray distance even as she lines up for another shot.

"Move back, let's kill it with range.." Bosh aims his crossbow again and shoots trying to avoid the others.

Bosh's bolt lances into the remaining blob, but not hard enough to cause this one to explode.

It responds by crawling onto Oleg's foot and slamming a pseudopod down against his toes...
Slam Attack vs. Oleg: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Slam Damage vs. Oleg: 1d2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Oleg Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
...and it (somehow) manages to strike a spot that must already be sore, damaging Oleg a bit in the process.

Scarlet's bolt goes wide of the mark (good news for Oleg's foot).

Oleg reacts rather predictably to the creature trying to crawl onto his leg. "Arrgh! Get offa me you filthy thing!" Then Oleg winds his foot back and kicks forward with all his might trying to send the creature flying back towards the other end of the room. Assuming he is successful, Oleg then takes a 5' step away from the blob.

Actions:

The tiny creature sails across the room, landing with a splat on the far side of the table. When Oleg steps back, the doors to the room whisper shut, and after a moment you hear nothing.

Nice move - a good way to get out of the fight! What do you do next?

Cinder moves to Oleg to heal him. "Its high time we get out of here. We've learned some very interesting things that need to be shared, and I don't think we'll be able to leave if we fight one more thing."

"Well, if we return I can finish drawing what we saw on the entrance to map out this place. Let's just mark where we left and are we going to bring food for the weird floating thing in the other room?" Bosh tries to draw a big X on the wall with some of the coal he uses to write,
"I know I'm not that clean always but I would love to get a bath after seeing all that blood, I feel dirty" He pulls out his hair and gets some shivers, he is not used to see things like that..


You return back to the first chamber of this area, where the desk stands, and quickly check the side door next to the desk, as Oleg had mentioned earlier. It is opened by your Black Access card, and inside you see two rows of upright metal containers, each with a door, and about the height of Oleg's nose.

Checking these containers, you find a curious metal tube with a glass cap, a small switch on its side. Near it, there are twenty nine silverdisks, three of which seem to have a bit of a shimmer from the patterned lines etched on each face.

Bosh and Oleg recognize the metal tube as a device called a "flashlight" - able to project a cone of light out to sixty feet, and dimmer light for the same distance again.

Without experimentation, you aren't quite sure what the shimmering silverdisks would be for. Bosh, you know that there is a man in town named Sanvil Trett who often deals with technological items - perhaps he could help you figure out the function of the unique silverdisks.

In another locker, you discover a small metal box with a white labeled panel on the surface, but no easily discernable way of opening it.

As you process back to the Black Hill Caves, Bosh is able to collect enough details to produce a map of the area. (linked above)

You pick up the body of Gerrol Sonder on your way through to the exit, remembering that his fiance, Emelia Otterbie, would likely be interested in knowing of his fate.

You reach the waters of the Weeping Pond, and realize that you may have only moments left with the spell of water breathing, after your rest in the environmental control room. With a mad rush back through the waters, you can feel its effects slipping away just as the surface comes into sight, forcing you to kick hard... and just breach the surface with a loud gasp!

Fortitude:

Bosh: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Cinder: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14
Oleg: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

You all emerge panting, but are able to shake off the effects of the foul waters. It is now late in the day.

"He can talk to Mr. Trett to see what this disks are. He knows a lot of this stuff...but firsts, let's take the body to where it belongs" He suggests the others, he squeezes his clothes to remove the water from them.

Even as she finishes changing into the spare, dry clothes she'd bought earlier, Scarlet nods in agreement with Bosh.

Looking at the white box, Oleg muses that perhaps it might open with a keycard that had a white stripe. If the group fails to find one, Oleg promises to beat the box open to the best of his ability!

Oleg accompanies Bosh and Scarlet to meet with Ms. Otterbie, and to pay his respects. He will also travel to see Sanvil Trett, hoping to get a good price for the pair of excellent shortswords, or be directed to an interested merchant.

After that business is concluded, Oleg thinks another meeting with the town councilors may be in order. There is a lot under the town that they are unaware of, but perhaps that will be best discussed in the morning after a well-deserved rest.

Hi, team - limited access on an old laptop here, but I hope to have a bit more time to post things tomorrow. We're also moving, so that's slowing me down quite a bit as well. Hope you are all enjoying the weekend!


Long, wet, dreary winter is closing its icy grip upon my part of the world. Wishing every one else all the very best. (^_^)


The four of you reach the Otterbie Manor. Emmelia is brought out at your request, and she gasps and falls into tears when she sees the arrival of her fiancee's inert form. "Oh, my Gerrol. I hoped against hope, but this..." She sobs quietly for a time.

Her mother, Councilwoman Bazlundi Otterbie, steps out of the house soon after to console her daughter and to greet you. "My thanks, friends. I know you are risking much in your expeditions under the Black Hill, yet that you still find time to care for my daughter speaks volumes of your character." Baz gives instructions for servants in the house to start making arrangements for a funeral, and to take Emmelia in to her room to further calm down.

Once all are in motion, Bazlundi turns to you and says, "I wish to repay your kindness. I have many smiths who work under my direction, and I can put their resources to work to craft each of you a weapon of your choosing, to aid you in your quest. Be assured that these will each be of exquisite quality. Come, tell me how I can help you in your quest to help our town."

She is offering to make one masterwork weapon for each of you. What do you request?

You later find Sanvil Trett's stand in the market square without much difficulty. He is currently tinkering with a metallic device, and when you approach he looks up with a smile on his face. "Ah, the explorers under Black Hill! What a pleasant surprise to have you come to my stall! Word has gotten around town of how you have come and gone to those warrens several times now, yes? We are all very hopeful that you will find our dear councilor soon. Perhaps you have found something interesting, and need me to discern its function. Come, come, let us see!"

His smile falters somewhat when you place the two short swords before him. "I see - not perhaps what I was expecting, but certainly of fine craftsmanship. You think they are worth... a hundred each? But my friend, they are worth more. Go to that weaponsmith down the way, with the blue stall awning, and ask no less than three hundred gold for the pair. He is often in the market for such fine work as this, selling it again at other locations."

He seems pleased that he could help you find a deal, but looks at you expectantly. "Are you sure that you have not found anything else that I might be able to help you with? I am among the foremost experts in town on technological items, and for a small fee for my services, I can discern the purpose of many things for you."

You disperse for the evening to your tasks and homes. The council members are done for their day of work, but are anxious to hear from all of you in the morning.

Scarlet remains reserved when the body is returned. At the mention of said offer, Scarlet looks quite thoughtful and accepts the offer, though she asks for time to think of something in particular.

Upon meeting Sanvil, Scarlet is interested in what he is tinkering with... though only so far as to whether it's a projectile weapon of some sort... Of the things the group has found? She'd rather remain silent, commenting only that there's more trash and junk than anything left of interest under the town's rock-pile of a hill.

Scarlet will see about any minor healing, alchemical supplies, clothing mending and cleaning and bathing. Finally a good meal before relaxing in front of a fire or some wheres else comfortable.


Sorry, work is busy

"I'm sorry for your loss.." Bosh says to Emmelia with a sad face and watery eyes.

When the Councilwoman makes the offer, Bosh tries to not look too interested as he thinks it would look bad, they could think he is doing it just for getting loot...but he kindly accepts,
"Thank you for your offer, it will help us a lot on the expedition and with it maybe found the other explorers."

"There are a lot of things down there, I'll make sure to bring something for you next time or at least some drawings of what we see" Bosh tells Sanvil, intrigued with the thing Sanvil has in his hand, Bosh tries to get a better look at it.

Bosh will go to his home and try to get a bath but get distracted with some books while researching about the things they found in the caverns.
