"No! Googlybear!" Kara screams, her voice reverberating off the close confines of the cave.

She DARTS under the legs of the tall humans, scrurrying in to get a good sight on a target. "Schlaffen!" she yells, tossing a puffy pink puffball at the rat just above the fallen monk.

Soon those closest to the north-most rat are assaulted by waves of unresistable sleep.

Sleep: 5d8 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 7, 5) = 24
Point of origination is the rat just up from Kartoss. That should gives us some room to work. =)

When Kartoss falls and the rats continue to chew on his fallen form, a curative spell is immediately on his lips as he ducks under Hacks arm to try and imbue some element of life into the elf. As the round man retreats, should any rats try and kip at him, he is ready to blind it with a flare of Sarenrae's divine light warding flare

Cure: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Round 1
Rats surround Kartoss and bring his prediction to fruition, they swarm him.
Kartoss goes down in a spray of blood and rat squeaks. (Dropped to 0 and has 2 DST failures)
Vakase (Bot) holds, because the hallway is full of Kartoss parts and rats chewing on them.
Kartoss [-2 DST] holds wisely and metagamingly.
Kara googlybears the Rats. Three of them fall fast asleep.
Hack steps over Kartoss' prone form and swings for the fences, unfortunately his misses.
Rurik heals Kartoss who awakens (behind Hack)
Davin fires his bow, missing the rat.

Their AC is 12...you guys aren't rolling well at all.

The nonsleeping Rats change targets and swarm onto Hack

Just out of curiousity, which am I unconscious? I looked back at the round of attacks on me, and it only looked like one of them hit me.

Hack cuts a rat into tiny little parts.
Rurik Dex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 casts his spell but it doesn't affect the rat.
Davin skewers a rat at the end of an arrow!

Combat nominally over, the remaining rats are sleeping and can be dealt with as you see fit.

Kara waves to her servants to get a move on. "Hurry, now, Attero, we'll have no layabouts here! Fetch my chair, Rick, and a pitcher of cold water! Then build a fire. 'Twill be cold tonight and wold not do for one of -my- upbringing to catch cold."

Then she looks around and realizes she doesn't have any servants. "What? Hack got to think he was a Ranger...."

She goes about cleaning up the rats. And by "cleaning up" she means burning them. But she's nice, so she only burns the dead ones. The live ones she burns twice.

Then she looks for treasure, honestly believing in her heart of hearts that at least one rat should have 23 copper pieces and a broadsword.

While looking over the wounds of Hack and Kartoss, Rurik chuckles over Mrs. Fierypants complaining she might get cold. Ah ken burn the rest o me spells and work ta fix ye both up, or we can rest a bit an ah ken work ta patch ye up the ol fashioned way.

I recommend we burn some healing, then rest to recover it. If not, a short rest, at a minimum.

I'd vote for short rest over burning spells and then long resting to recover the slots (which would make the spells unnecessary.

"Okay, we can rest," Kara chirps, "but the condition is I get to cook the rats.
And everyone has to eat at least one.
Yeah, that seems fair."


Davin helps gather up the dead rats. He guts and skins them for Kara to cook. He seems a little withdrawn and tries not to look the halfling in the eye.

She tosses a white, puffy ball into the middle of the group of kobolds coming down her tunnel.
