Sterling seemed a bit annoyed. He softens at the wink. Actually I never had time for games. I spent eighty hours a week analyzing numbers, people and trends.

They drill into our heads before letting out of the prison we arrived in. Then attune us to new powers that were originally their own...if Mahb is to believed. Tools seems like a accurate observation. They are personalities with their own, wants, needs and agendas. They haven't really been straight forward about it. Thankfully mine has been silent since I returned...even computer chips degrade.

We are creatures of free will. We could stay in this guilded cage like they did. I'm not fond of that idea.

We are at war with the outside world, and based on experience there is no negotiating for peace.

The only avenue left is to attain greater mastery of our new gifts and take the war to them.

Either way, I don't see them sending us back home.

"Take the WAR to them? There's only four of us, they have a whole army. I don't like those odds. I think we were lucky in that last fight and there was just a small squad of them then. What can we do against a whole army? It's not like the villagers are gonna help us."

Not really, there are mathematics books, chaos theory books (quite a lot of those), engineering books, and generally all the hard and magic science books you could want. But history, geography and journals not so much, other than some journals about mathematics and magic. Sterling's library contains about the exact opposite

The Village is expanded significantly in the next four months. Mahb and her family make it perfectly clear to the newcomers from the village that it will not be like it was, and they can just accept it or go find their own village. It nearly comes to blows several times, but eventually things calm down when the Peacekeeper agrees to Mahb's being in charge of the village.

A small house is built for Sterling, at his request (really, rebuilt). Between Sterling's concrete and Harry's plant working over time to turn green trees into dried seasoned wood, the four months is very hectic for both men, they don't get a lot of rest.

The mute daughter manages to get the well working again by calling forth some creature that looks like a cross between a pile of rocks and a troll from a bad SyFy movie. But it sinks into the ground, and an hour or so later water begins to flow into the well, which no longer has any debris or roots in it anymore.

Indeed, they end up having to dig a trench with another similar creature, as the well overflows. Now there is a small creek bubbling up out of the well. The creature digs a trench three feet deep leading away from the small village, and towards a depression in the ground a half-mile away. It begins to fill in, and by the end of the four months, a small pond has formed.

The village children are nervous about the playground at first, as are the village elders. However, after Mahb's daughter uses her creature again to build a stone berm around the playground and the village to keep the unnatural predators out, the villagers begin to relax. After a month or two, the village children can be seen playing on the equipment regularly, when they're not doing chores or working on rebuilding the village.

There is nothing salvageable from the other compounds, those that you can enter. Anything taken from them vanishes upon leaving it. There is something odd going on at Kong's compound though. A man with an apron on is standing in the front yard, his throat cut and wet blood covering his front. He won't respond to anyone, and he looks vaguely familiar, and finally Sterling and Harry manage to place him, he was the man who owned the inn in Demonreach, the one who committed suicide when his daughter died. They can't do anything about him however.

At about the third month and a few days, Kong's bone house detonates, raining shards of bone down around the compound. Make a 1d100 check, 50 or less and you are in the area when it detonates. Fifteen or less and you are in your own compound and relatively immune to the blast, other than taking 20 points of subdual. If you roll 16 to 25, you are in someone elses compound, and take 10d6 Subdual (DC 10 for half). If you roll 26 to 50 then you are outside your compound. You take 20d6 subdual damage from the explosion, DC15 for half.

At four months, the Volcano detonates as well, showering hot heated stones all over the area. Same rolls for the second detonation

I think that brings everyone up to date, please let me know if I missed any questions or requests. I need Perception Rolls (2x) from everyone who is in the area when the detonations occur. If you weren't there, don't roll. If you were, even if you were in your own compound, roll.

After retraining, Luna, Harry and Sterling search the land within the wall for any points of interest. Additionally spending some time to investigate compound. mdt please notate any points of interest we should have 3 months of search time.

The villagers are becomming more comfortable with Sterling. He begins asking specific questions:

How to get into the church building in thier town?

Specific details of the tennents of thier religion and dogma...Added knowlege religion, let me know if this is an issue

Any people that are not apostate or church members (agnostic/athiest) in the area?

How are the villagers feeling now about thier new home, any willing to seek vengence on thier church, or free other apostate?

Luna, who was outside at the time Kong's compound detonated, manages to dodge some of the flying bone shrapnel. She retreats to her own apartment for a while til the damage heals.

Luna was not outside in the area when Neri's volcano detonated. She missed the entire event... perhaps out mapping and searching far beyond the confines of the compounds when it occurred?

While Luna is more interested in searching the compounds themselves than the rest of the area inside the shield, she is disgusted when she realizes that she can take nothing from them. When compounds start detonating, she refrains from searching any more, not wanting to be actually IN any of them during such an event. Disappointed in the results of her searches, she'll join Harry and sTerling, but not with much enthusiasm.

Yeah, if it's worth something to you, then it's worth something to me. Somehow I don't think I have anything you'd accept as currency anyway. But then if I did, you're not likely to tell me that anyway, are you? So what's with the explosions? Neri and Kong meet a fate worse than death?

Sterling, you need to make a reflex save, you rolled really high, you could end up dying from the subdual. You really want to make that save.

Sterling takes 34 subdual, and then 6 lethal damage from the explosion as a human thighbone slams into his chest and rams through his armor and into his chest.

When he wakes up and begins looking around at the destroyed bone compound, he notices a scythe sticking up out of the rubble. The blade is cracked, and the haft split down the center.

Neither Sterling nor Luna were in the small town when the volcano detonated

Sterling drinks a healing potion almost imediately. He was not happy that he needed them so often in the past few months since he's been here. He moves closer to the destroyed compound. This can't be good news.

The first thought he has, Kong is dead. He wondered how, where and why. Ingnorance seemed to be his new constant state. It kept him off center since he'd been here. He had been the man with the answers and the solutions in his previous life. Now he was a blind man wandering in the street.

Sterling sees the scythe. It was an imposing weapon. He had been stuck with a mealy hand crossbow that he he ignored in preference to a longbow or bomb. Maybe Harry can help repair it, He had no idea who could really use it though. Retrieving the Sythe, He heads to Harry's compound.

Sterling, you were unconscious at Kong's house explosion, so Paul, still being awake, has the first opportunity to notice the scythe. You can drink the potion when you wake up, or are woke up.

Paul is merely knocked down and severely bruised when Kong's house detonates. He also notices the scythe. He also sees Sterling laying unconscious on the ground nearby.

Those who were outside when the explosion happened on Kong's house, saw it crack, and purple light shine through the cracks.

It didn't look like a normal structure cracking, where different bits crack in different ways. Instead it looked almost as if you were watching it on television, and the television glass was cracking. The cracks ran over seams and between bone and glass without any seams.

Rather than go directly to her apartment, Luna is drawn toward Kong's destroyed compound, both attracted and repelled by the cracking and exploding building. She walks over and picks up his scythe, thinking it might be repaired if nothing else. Perhaps it might afford some kind of link to Kong if he still lives, or to the entity that empowered him.

On the way to see Harry with the scythe, she pauses by Sterling to make sure he's okay. When she sees his damage healing, she nods to Paul. "Looks like he's gonna be fine."

if for some reason he's NOT healing quickly and looking like he's going to be okay, she'll use her wand and with some words and gestures, tap him with the wand to heal him.

cure light on Sterling, if nec: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

mdt:
actually casting cure light wounds as an adept spell, but not wanting others to know what she can do, she tries to make it look like she's using a wand to cast it. The 'wand' is just a plain old stick.

Luna picks up the scythe and stares at it a moment, then writhes in pain and screams, trying to drop it, but it seems to attached to her somehow, as if had become one with her somehow and she is unable to shake it away from her.... and as a secondary reaction, she pulls her hand in towards her as if embracing the scythe rather than trying to be rid of it. She drops to her knees, her initial screams dying to a soft whimper of pain and surprise.

Finally she stands, her short blonde hair almost standing on end as if caught in a sudden breeze and frozen that way. Slowly her hair lays back down to it's usual look, but her eyes are crazed and lost looking. She turns and looks at Harry and Sterling, her eyes wide and oddly white, the color almost drained out of them. She has no more tears to shed as she looks at the two men.

Her hands and wrists are dripping with blood as if her skin had been pierced many times but no offending weapons can be seen, and the visible damage seems almost inconsequential compared with the amount of blood that's been shed. The blood on her hands leaves bloody prints on the remains of the damaged scythe in her grip (if indeed any of it remains... mdt wasn't clear on that)

"Oh... I see... so very much." she says softly, as the color returns to her eyes and skin. "I think... I need to be alone for a bit." Having said that, she heads for her apartment, clearly still half-lost in some kind of trance.

The crow or raven that seems to always be nearby when Luna is about seems as distressed as she was... and seems to have have almost doubled in size... it wheels away and off to her compound when she walks that way...

Luna likely doesn't realize it, but the scythe is fully repaired in her hands... and her leather armor vanished and was replaced by a corset instead.

Everyday brings yet another impossible assault on the psyche Sterling painfully stands up. Should one of us go after her? It was a more rhetorical question than actual query. He assumed that she had two personalities rolling around in her brain now. And the transition was less than smooth. He wondered if something of Kong was there as well. At best it would make the secretive girl more mecurial.

Assuming Paul uses his table, he doesn't find them anywhere inside the dome.

If I'm counting right, it appears everyone was out of town when the Volcano detonated. Since you know about the scythe, I'm assuming everyone would return and look in the remains of the volcano. There is a blasted and bent 9-ring sword in the rubble

Well now, that's interesting. I've often heard of death stealing you away like a thief in the night... I suppose that's someone poetically ironic. The voice says with wry humor as the energy from the weapon pulses through Luna.

Luna feels nothing of the previous owner of the Scythe, or the voice he heard, only her original voice.

Then again, I wouldn't count old Kinsalia out just yet. Death doesn't mean much to Death. We shouldn't get too attached to her power, I doubt she'll let us keep it. Having the two with the most intact power in the same body would be... problematic... It's the longest speech he's given Luna in months.

Will you update on the additional questions to the villagers and the question on resources. It might be easier to supply the mechanical effects the village has on gameplay. I ask about the resources to help aid in the production of things like magic items/weapons/armor/constructs. Since we don't really have the same loot/sell/craft schemes of other games, it would benefit planning to understand it's mechanics as well. Additionally, can you add a google word doc for notes, and a spreadsheet for resource management?

The village is basically just that, a Village. It can produce the things a Village can (base price, magic items, etc). See core rule book for Villages. Working on the write up for gods (have to do it for both games).

I never meant to take Kong's power... I didn't know that would happen... and I'd love to steal power from those who are against us rather than allies... but if Kong is dead, did I actually steal anything, or maybe more inherit it? Or am I rationalizing? How do I take the power of our enemies? Show me how to do that, and I'll gladly put what you teach me into practice.

(I'd ask about Neri's power and the 9-ring sword, so I can advise/warn the others, but I am assuming this conversation takes place long before the volcano detonates)

When the volcano explodes, Neri is gone now too? I am sorry about that, he was a bit wild, but a good sort. I kind of liked him. Perhaps the remnants of his power aren't that worthless in the right hands, though. I've learned my lesson however. I won't be touching anything of his that survived the explosion.

Doing so could be dangerous. You are already at the limit of what you can handle. Two gems would have destroyed you as completely as the bone house. Holding even the Remnant of Kinsalia's power that she's leaving around is dangerous for you. One of the weaker souls you protect would die from even the pitiful remnant of Ptaleon's power, much less Kinsalia's. Id won't make any fuss about either warning the others off, or encouraging them to take up the sword. He seems to not care one way or the other. You do have some nightmares involving corpses and bones now, and you find you have a fever if you use your powers too much in a day. It feels as if your skin is being stretched tight all the time. OH, I forgot, having Kinsalia's power gives you another level of Mythic, so you'd need a third level of Mythic to stablize the power enough to transfer it to someone.

So you have a name too, I assume... care to share? or only the names of those with deceased hosts? TIred of just thinking of you as 'you' or 'we'. 'We' is much preferable, I guess, so maybe it's not really important. She lets the matter drop.

I'll be more careful before touching anything in the future I guess. I don't want to go the way of Kong or Neri...

When Neri's volcano explodes, Luna, who was far from the compounds, helping to map the area behind the force field. When she returns to the compounds, she'll warn the others, "Be careful if you find anything of Neri's among the rubble. Curse or blessing? You decide. But do be cautious."

While Luna's warning isn't very coherent, it's all she gives at this time. She doesn't go intentionally searching through the detritus from the explosion.

I don't feel that the volcano god's power would benefit me. Says Sterling walking away from the carnage. He felt a twinge of responsibility, but he still sees no other rational decisions that could have been made. Any regrets wash away amid the dangers they still face.

We should discuss our next move. I suggest we all meet in Paul's map room.

Sterling laughs. I'm "chill" and I'm not offended...But only a man in a relationship would want to put up with such a judgemental tone. Being a pretty girl, I'm sure you got away with it often. Sometimes I forget how young you are. he smiles and shakes his head.
