The Stockholm Music and Arts event is in full swing. Thousands are in the crowd, watching the lit stage as Jill Jhonson sings. Lina has been assigned to security, and most of that security involves checking that the kids drinking alcahol have their '18 and legal' bracelets on, and aren't sharing with those without bracelets.
However, something about one man who is standing near the stage bothers her. Despite the warmth of the night, he's wearing a heavy jacket zipped up to the neck, and a flash back to a bus ride with her sister has her racing at the man as he toward the crowd, having finally gotten aas close to the stage as he can.
Lina's shoulder takes him in the gut, and something bulky under the jacket makes the hit hurt, sending pain down her shoulder to her hand, and down her back along her spine.
The duo crash over the edge of the dock and into the water, next to a brightly decorated fishing boat. A few seconds later the crowd, who hadn't noticed the commotion, is shocked as a bolt of lightning drops down out of the semi-clouded sky, striking the fishing boat.
The boat rears up out of the water, and the dock is swampd with water that rushes over the feet of the crowd nearby. The show is brought to a halt that night, but allowed to resume the next day.
Police find bits of human flesh washing up on shore for the next few weeks, the victim blown to bits. No identification is ever made beyond the gender, male.
Lina is listed as a missing person two days later. No trace of her is ever found.

Harry uses the block and tackle to haul the thousand pound plus moose off the ground for field cleaning. Most people hunt them with a group, to make things easier. But Harry was determined to prove he could do it by himself. He'd picked a smaller one, either young or just not as large as it's brethren. His ATV had a large wheeled sled behind it to hold the meat. It was a right of passage to go out and bag your own single handed (most claimed it was a right of insanity).
He'd started gutting the beast, reaching up high and bringing his gutting knife down when he heard the crack of a limb. Thinkit it was the tree he had the moose hanging from cracking cost him critical seconds. Only then did he hear the shuffling behind him. Turning brought him face to belly with a massive Grizzly. It was early for them to be feeding heavily for the winter, but the weather had been odd the last couple of years, and it was making the bears act odd.
His knife rakes up as the bear swings a massive paw with deadly sharp talons at him. The world dissolves into a roar and white light as lightning hits the ATV, not 3 feet from the bear and Harry.
There's a fireball as the gasoline in the atv, along with the 20 gallons strapped to the sled behind it, go up in a fireball. Several weeks later, another hunter finds the charred corpses of a grizzly and elk amidst the remains of the ATV. No sign of Harry is ever found.
July 31st, 2014, American Airlines Flight 1720 from Charlotte NC to Washington DC
Sterling puts away his laptop as the captain announces for a third time that the plane is encountering turbulance. The plane has tried twice to climb out of the storm, but the massive storm that's striking the entire eastern seaboard and bringing massive rain down has boiled up over the normal storm ceiling. In coach, his two bodyguards press his much less imposing personal assistant who is stuck with the middle seat, the turbulance leaving bruises on the young man's arms as the strong bulky bodyguards slam into him repeatedly.
Sterling is on his way to represent his client, Bank of America, at a congressional hearing on the latest scandal to rock the banking world, revelations that banks were violating RICO statutes to control the rates of loans. Nothing else would have gotten him on a domestic flight in this weather.
Thirteen minutes out of Ronald Regan, the port engine is hit by lightning, turning it into a fireball that engulfs the wing. The aged aircraft's wing rips apart, and the plain goes into a spinning dive, sending loose articles flying to slap people in the face. Oxygen masks drop down, but nobody has time to put one on.
The plane breaks up at just over four thousand feet, massive bolts of lightning trailing it down, even striking the remains as they tumble from the sky burning. Pictures taken by a storm chaser make the cover of Time magazine, showing dozens of bolts striking the aircraft debris as it falls in flaming trails.
Very few passengers are every identified from remains. Sterling is among those never confirmed dead through remains.
August 1st, 2014 - Abandoned Warehouse Rave, Lichtenberg Berlin
Kory had been talked into doing the rave by Skank, it was supposed to be a massive rave, pay well, very well. What Skank hadn't said was that the local ecstacy dealer was the bankroller of the rave, nor that most of the attendees would be underage.
But by the time Kory had figured it out, he was already surrounded by the goons of the dealer, and had little choice other than to go on stage. At least he was clean and sober, unlike Skank. He kept his head down and played, intent on getting his job done and getting out of there, and just hoping the police didn't raid the place. Not that there was a lot of chance of that in Lichtenberg.
But it turns out the police were going to be showing up no matter what. About a third of the way through the Rave, it began to pour down. An unexpected storm brewing up out of nowhere. The old warehouse's wiring was not up to code, nor maintained, and a section of the roof caved in under the pounding wind. Several hundred gallons of wather rushed through the hole and poured over the stage. Electricity arced over the performers, and the dealer who was standing at the edge of the stage, as well as the first 3 rows of ravers at the base of the stage. To add insult to injury, a bolt of lighting hits the warehouse, blowing the rest of the roof off and hiting the stage, attracted by the arcing electricity.
Skank and the dealer are later identified from dental records, as are several other band members and rave goers. The massive fire that resulted from the electrical arcing and lightning didn't leave much more of those on and near the stage. Kory's remains are never confirmed, but he is never seen again, and is declared dead 3 years later.
July 31st 2014, Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY
Paul grasped at the vent pipe again as the wind nearly tore him off the roof for what seemed like the hundredth time in the last half hour. Hot rain pierced his skin like needles as the thirty and fourty mile per hour gusts slammed into him.
Perhaps this had not been the best of ideas, but the chance to steal van Gogh's Irises was too good to pass up. Still, the plan hadn't quite called for a storm this uh... spirited. Lightning was hitting buildings all over the city, arcing down lightning rods. He'd planned it out years ago, but never had he been in the city, with a single work of art worth the risk on display, while a storm strong enough had hit. Finally all 3 ingredients had come together, and he'd had to make the decision to go, or forever scrap the idea.
But on top of the museum, in the driving hot rain, with lightning screaming down all around him... It was enough to give anyone second thoughts. But nobody had done something like this before, it would surely put him in the history books, even if nobody knew exactly who'd done it. He'd never be able to sell the painting, but he could look at it, and know. And the reputation of the mysterious robber would always be his to gloat over.
The plan was fiendishly simple. Disconnect the four lightning rods in the middle of the storm, and reconnect them to the building's electrical system instead. Then hope for a bit of luck and a lightning strike. The strike would take out every electronic defense in the building, and should take out the backups too.
And, as he was unbolting the line from the fourth lightning rod, it would surely have worked if kismet had been on his side. If the bolt had come a few minutes later, or if his ride over hadn't been interrupted by that massive traffic accident in Time's Square, he'd have been done. But the massive bolt that hit the rod he was working on hit just as he removed the line, and before he could drag it over to the line he'd run from the building electrical.
Days later, when the maintenance workers found the removed wires, and the scattered tools around the blast mark on the concrete roof, they were astounded. The museum hushed it up, and quietly reworked the electrical system to make it much harder to do such a thing.
Paul Hopkin's apartment was emptied 3 months later for failure to pay rent, all his plans dumped into a dumpster, and his books and furniture sold at auction.
July 31st 2014, Lake Huron, Michigan
Jacob had gone out on the boat for a quiet night of fishing, needing some time out alone. The small sailing vessel was easy enough to control with one person when the weather was nice. And the weather had been when he left in the afternoon. It was still nice when he went to bed, fifteen pounds of fresh fish in the live container, and a fresh grilled meal in his stomach.
The first warning he had that something nasty had blown in with no warning was when he was thrown out of his bunk and onto the floor, along with most of the things that had formerly been on shelves. He had managed to get on some sweats and a life vest before climbing out into the weather. Gale winds howled, and the lake's surface rose up in waves deep enough to be ocean waves.
He struggled to get the sailing ship pointed toward shore, the small emergency motor strapped on to the aft chugging hard, but unheard over the wind. Then the lightning had started, crack booms rattling the windows in the small ship as he struggled to hold the wheel in the driving wind. In such wind there was no hope of using a sail, or even getting one up.
He might have made it, if the bolt of lightning hadn't hit the tall mast on the sailing ship, the energy dancing down the wet shaft and blowing a hole in the decking. Wood splinters rained down, and the ship began sinking as water flooded from below.
After the storm, for a week, search efforts were conducted for those who went missing in the storm. His ship was eventually located several months later, but of Jacob, there was no sign.
July 31st 2014, Route 77/64, Appalachin Mountains, West Virginia, 10 miles south of Charleston, WV
Neri is riding in Big Red, a massive red Peterbilt that is hauling the merry go round. Minetti, a heavily built man with a scraggly beard and bad teeth is driving. Minetti's not bad as a riding companion, he's quiet, he's a good driver, and he doesn't have BO. Usually, the last one is the big thing for Neri, but today, it's the second one. The massive rig is going up and down the mountains, sometimes with hundreds of feet of drop offs on the sides of the road, with only a thin steel rail and railroad ties between the 10 ton rig and and a near vertical drop of hundreds of feat.
The darkness is lit up by lightning strikes so often that the trucks headlights are all but unneeded. The big heavy wipers are on at full speed, and Minetti has white knuckles on the steering wheel as he keeps Big Red sandwhiched between the elephant truck ahead, and the log truck behind that hauls all the main poles for the massive tents.
Neri is watching ahead, looking for the prayed for Charleston signs, as they have hotels in Charleston, a way point on the way to Pittsburgh. So it is he sees the oncoming rig, a newer Mack truck hauling 5 tons of steel I-beams, has a blow out on the front driver's side wheel as it rumbles down the mountain toward them. The truck barely misses the elephant truck, it's front end slams into Big Red just aft of the driver's door, crumpling in the side of the truck, wraping Minetti in steel and glass shards. The quiet driver doesn't get a sound out as the truck hits. Those in the log truck look on in horror as the two trucks tumble off the side of a 300 foot cliff, bursting into flames at the base, despite the rain.
Neri's body is never recovered.
July 31st 2014, Times Square, New York City, NY
Luna is having a good day, despite the awful weather. Two days ago, Randal had given her a job to check out the Guggenheim museum and look at a painting with purple flowers, as well as noting if any security had changed since she cased it last year. She'd handed off the report on the museum yesterday, and today she'd picked up her pay from Randal.
She'd even had a good enough payday to take in a movie at the RPX Movie theatre on 42nd, and then walk down to the Hard Rock cafe for a dinner. The storm had gotten worse as she ate, to the point where the windows of the restaurant were rattling in their frames. She'd briefly considered waiting in the restaurant for the storm to pass, but it was getting more and more crowded by the minute, and having three grand in cash on her in a crowd in New York was not a good idea.
As she stepped out of the Hard Rock, the hot rain slammed into her in thirty mile per hour winds. She had made it 20 feet down the nearly empty side walk when she heard the squeel of tires. A city garbage truck was hurtling out of control down 43rd street through the intersection at 7th avenue, and struck a city bus. The bus was slammed sideways into the shops along 7th avenue. The rear of the bus shattered the Hard Rock's front windows, sending glass shards flying into the restaurant. Adding to the chaos was the lightning strike that slammed into the big main display for the square, sending arcs of electricity arcing out to street lights, vehicles, and even the bus and garbage truck as it slammed into the building where Luna was cringing.
Other vehicles became involved, and traffic for several blocks around was snarled for hours. Three people died in the bus, including the driver. Dozens were sent to the hospital.
Luna Rook was never seen again.

The following applies to all
Slowly awareness returns. It starts off as something nagging you, as if from a great distance something was wrong, but you can't quite figure out what it was. And then finally it blooms in full awareness.
PAIN
Pain rushes through your consciousness. Every muscle, every bone, every organ, every follicle. PAIN Pain so bad you can't even whimper or articulate it. Pain so strong your body can't even move or twitch.
Time passes.
What seems like centuries of pain eventually dims down, taking decades to pass, until finally the pain is bearable. Until finally you can begin to crack open a single eyelid to look around. You expect a hospital room perhaps. But instead, you find yourself looking at stone. Brown stone... with glowing quartz crystals. The quartz slowly get's brighter over a few minutes, as if the sun were rising somewhere and shining through the crystal.
As your eye swivels, you see stone around you... a cavern... and dead bodies... dead bodies everywhere... most of them are long dead, no more than skeletons with bits of rag and clothing remnants, a few stray hairs here and there. Some are more recent, with battered and rusted armor clinging to mummified husks.
See map link at top of page for your locations. Descriptions of the locations in the next post.

Area Descriptions
Only look at the area descriptions you are in for now, once everyone begins to move around, you can start moving from area to area and looking at the descriptions there. Once everyone has met and you start exploring around as a group, no restrictions on what you can look at with regards to location. Remember language barriers may exist for some of you.
To the north]A tall broad-shouldered man in chainmail with a heavy looking warhammer held casually over his shoulder. His broad face has a welcoming smile on it, and a tool belt hangs from his hips. In the background, a large house puffs smoke and anvils can be seen. A large, scaled dragon is draped over the top of the building, with smoke puffing out of it’s nostrils. A square brown gem is centered on his belt buckle.
To the south]A man in a silk robe with a metal plate strapped over his stomach looks out from the relief. He smiles with a friendly easy smile, his long hair tied back in a pony tail. A strange multi-segmented sword hangs from his waist, and a dog with small packs on it’s back stands next to him. In the ring on his finger is a large oval orange gem. Behind him is a wagon with cargo on top, and an enclosed living area.
Relief 1]A woman stands on one foot, the other leg bent and raised up so the heel rests against her inner thigh. She wears a flowing silk garment and holds metal fans in each hand. Her face is serene, and on her forehead rests a yellow gemstone. Behind her a simple wooden building with a sun motif on it.
Relief 2]A woman holding a short staff and wearing cloth wrapped armor stands on a building top. Her face is obscured by a mask. On her brow rests a pyramidal black stone that seems to absorb the light around it. Within the relief can be seen dozens of scorpions of various sizes.
Relief 3]A woman in full body armor sits astride a unicorn, a pair of short blades in her hands. She wears an ornate set of armor, and a helmet rides her head. On her brow is an octagonal clear gem. Behind her is a fortress with tall walls and regular crenelations.
You may now post, good luck and enjoy the game.
'Kong' Groder |
He stretches, pushing the pain out...joints popping...then starts looking himself over...could use some morphine...hell...must be hallucinating...
HALOOO? ANYBODY ALIEF HERE?
Lina Passgard |
Lina sat sat up, shaking her head groggily. Her muscles were stiff and sore all over. She quickly checked up on her uniform, before taking a closer look at the other bodies spread out across the cavern floor.
One of them didn't seem dead, although still. She got up and walked over to check on the well-dressed man. He stirred.
"Hey. I'm Lina" Speaking swedish, she offered Jacob a hand to get up.
Just then Kory's accented voice booms through the cave.
'Kong' Groder |
Jacob Friedrich Schönherr |
What the hell is this? Another dream?
Every so often, Jacob would fall asleep on the water. The rock of the boat was relaxing, and it rocked his subconscious a bit too - more intense dreams were frequent for him out there. This what a whole other level of intensity though. Dead bodies, extreme pain ... it almost made him think it was real.
Now there was some foreign b##~! standing over him. A cop at that. Something Nordic... Though he'd been in the Scandinavian peninsula, he'd not had the time to pick up the language. Only a few words. Beauty was, though, the mother tongue was everywhere.
"Lina, hmm?" Jacob got to his feet. He cricked his neck, glanced around, then back at her. He was told his steel blue eyes could be harsh when he was angry. This was probably one of those times. "Here to investigate? Or rescue me? What is this place?" The shop owner didn't divulge his name as he didn't true this figment of his imagination yet, and he didn't discard his life-jacket as he didn't know if he'd need it. The navy sweatpants and bright orange vest were quite the fashion statement, but those and the boat shoes were all he had on - and he wasn't exactly eager to get touchy-feely with any of the bodies laying about. Even if it were a dream.
Luna Rook |
Luna's first reaction as she awakens is a cry of fear at the bodies that lay scattered round, she manages to silence herself with her hand before she creates too much noise but anyone around her likely heard her. The cave carving quickly catches her eye and she makes a mental note of it,a mixture of habit and a landmark, if she's going to survive this and get out she'll need to keep an eye out for things like landmarks and anything hostile. Luna checks her nearest area for some kind of safe haven or place to hid if the need arises.
Lina Passgard |
Her face grew somewhat stern, now that she was sure that the man wasn't injured. Awake, he seemed more like a tourist who resented being told that no, he couldn't park his car there, and would he please move it. Thinking over his question, she was reminded of what gone down before the pain started.
Either she was in the hospital, dreaming, or this was what happened once you died. Considering the fact that the bastard probably had a bomb, she feared the second option was more likely. Right now, she should probably figure out what was going on. Or wake up.
"Sir, please follow me." She made sure she could draw her gun from its holster, and moved towards the source of the shouting she'd heard earlier.
Jacob Friedrich Schönherr |
"Halt! A moment..." Jacob carefully nudged one of the bodies on the floor with his left shoe. Really dead then. He glanced back to the eager woman. "Good to see we share a language. A lot of dead people means whomever brought us here probably won't mind a few more... got any firepower left for me?"
mdt |
Everyone hears someone shouting, somewhere, in German. Although where it's coming from is hard to figure out, due to the odd reverberations in the cavern.
There's a quieter, but still heard scream that is cut off quickly that also reverberates through the area.
Finally someone yells 'Halt!' in english loud enough to make echoes, followed by some additional noises that are too hashed to make out.
Other than area 4, the cave is dimly lit, with each numbered area being lit just enough to be visible while in it by quartz crystals overhead. Visibility is about 10 ft except in area 4, which is lit brightly (about 20 ft of bright light, 20 ft dim).
Luna sees two exits, (see map). You can go south or north. With the dim light, Luna can't tell what's beyond the openings, it's too dark.
Neri Voler |
Okay. That out of the way. What's broken? Eventualy, Neri is able to move his body enough to recognize what -isn't- broken. Though god, does this hurt. Then his eyes open to a desiccated corpse. Still in pain all he can do is moan slightly. Panic starts to fill him, but with that panic, adrenaline floods his system and puts a damper on the pain for a moment... long enough to notice all the other bodies.
"Oh god... some hick in Virginia has my body, and he's going to make me put the lotion on the skin..." His eyes danced from body to body to body, his thoughts racing.
Slowly he got himself under control, and the pain lowered enough for him to appraise everything. "Alright, either he's kidnapped groups upon groups of nuns and vagabonds, or there's simply no way he'd get away with this. Alternately. Dream. Lucid dream... unusual. Dead bodies very unusual. Let's see..." Neri concentrated for a moment, eyes closed, then opened them. "Dammit." the skeletons hadn't been replaced with living swimsuit models. "Fine. Not a dream. What the..." Neri gags slightly.
"Okay, horror movie time. Bodies, pictograph, gem. Hills have eyes."
Neri pulls his jacket tightly round himself, having been traveling in plain-clothes, dressed for disgusting weather. He'd be in a leather jacket, muck boots, Jeans, and a dark tank top under the jacket. The fingerless gloves that provide him with manual dexterity of absolutely no use in what he had to do next.
Neri began rifling through the bodies, looking for some sort of way to defend himself; surely one of them had carved a shank or something at some point, and with each body he -tried- to determine the cause of their death. He wasn't exactly an ME, but he'd worked with the circus long enough to know a clean break from a dirty one, and at least know what areas got sliced incidentally to quite probably kill people. His primary objective was to keep his lunch, but he also planned to live.
He looked up at the screaming voice, somewhat horrified, and renewed his search with more vigor. There were people... he needed a way to defend himself -now-.
Sterling "lumpy" Lumpkin |
Lumpy sits up from the cave floor. Did I die? The pain suggested otherwise. Unless hell was real, and not some fantasy to keep people in line. The banker frowns at this. He notices the dead strewn around him. That's never a good sign. he thought.
Just then he hears a man with a German accent call close by. Lumpy hesitates in response. He checks for his iPhone. It was luxury version with a 24k gold casing. He checks for bars, while not expecting to see any. He shuts the phone down to save batteries. In his right breast pocket he finds his cigar case that has two Montecristo's left, with a cigar cutter, and a platinum lighter. His wallet is still there. He rarely kept anything in his pants pockets because it broke the lines of his outfit. He checked anyway. Besides a little lint, he finds an errant paperclip. On his wrist he has Cartier Calibre Tourbillon watch.
Lumpy walks to where he heard Kory call out from. He introduces himself in German. Who am I addressing?
update added watch
mdt |
The bodies appear to have died from massive damage. Skulls have missing jaws, holes in their skulls, multiple cuts into the bones.
Neri finds an old and rusty sword, and an axe head with no wooden haft, also rusty. The rusty sword is broken halfway down it's length.
Some of the bodies have what looks like antique armor on them, rusty and metal, most with horrible dents or gashes in them.
Lina Passgard |
Lina waits for the man to catch up. "Look, sir, obviously I'm not handing you my firearm. I hear other people out there, we should get to them,se if they need help." Something gives out under Lina's foot with a crunch. She's keeping eyes on what's in front of her, not her feet. As they pass into area 14, she briefly stops to look at the relief. Strange. Perhaps they'd been taken captive? she had no idea what this place could be. And all those dead soldiers, with their anachronistic weapons and armor, it seemed like something out of a movie.
Luna Rook |
Once she had gotten her bearings, or whatever she could of it, she tried to move on, knowing that staying still wasn't getting her any closer to an escape.
She decides to head south, keeping an eye out for anymore carvings or things she can use for landmarks there was no telling how large this cave was but if she got in surely there was at least one way out...she hoped.
mdt |
You may move yourselves on the map if you like, I've updated it with people's moves for now. If you can't move on the map for some reason (using phones usually), then let me know in Discussion.
Luna moves into section 6, and can see section 4 due to it's being bright lit. (So can Kory from section 7 for that matter) Luna just misses seeing Sterling move over to section 7.
Lina and Jacob move into section 14.
Neri Voler |
Neri takes the sword... and the axe head. He slides the sword under his jacket and keeps it pinned to his side with his arm.
Then does a doubletake. Armor? Rusted armor? A -sword-? Where in the world was he? Not in Virginia, he hoped. It didn't matter. He'd heard the voice and he wanted to be prepared. The question was... did he risk trying to move to a different area, did he play it off as if he were unconscious? No. These guys hadn't had a chance to fight back, not even close. Maybe it was an alarm, maybe something would go off... but wherever he was, shiny gemstones were certain to be of value. He tried to pry the stone loose from the wall with his fingers... and if that didn't work, he'd try to chip the stone around it free with the axe head. He did so in a hurry.
'Kong' Groder |
Kory steps toward the bright light. KONG. KONG GRODER. You know of me, ya? Zis is not de rave...who are you?
Kong's voice is deep and resonant, but there's definite hesitation.
Harry Hudson |
Ok, this is weird, but I'm pretty sure it's not what the inside of a bear looks like, so that's all good.
He gets up and takes a closer look at the artwork. He'll trace the artwork and the stones with his had. Never seen anything like that before.
He then does an inventory of what he still has on him.
What exactly would I have on me? I didn't do equipment because I was under the impression that we weren't really supposed to.
Hearing the voices he will cautiously head out towards the noise.
Sterling "lumpy" Lumpkin |
Lumpy introduces himself again. Sterling Lumpkin. The banker pauses and looks at the bodies at his feet. Is that a Nazi? The crazy factor was exploding, but creating drama around the situation served no one.
It would appear, that new arrivals don't last long here. I hear others. I am unsure whether it is a good idea or a bad idea to seek them out. Given our situation, I don't see any alternative than to call them to us and hope for the best. We can then pool our resources to find a way out...if that's possible. Follow me back to where the light is brighter. We will beckon the others to us. With that Lumpy moves to where he woke up.
He calls out in German If you can hear me, Follow my voice He continues to repeat the phrase, waiting for the voices in the dark to find their way.
Neri Voler |
A new voice, again in German, lead Neri to redouble his efforts. He kind of understood French, at least the Cajun kind. And he understood all manners of bad English, but German was not even close to on his list of knowledge. And German almost always sounded angry.
Neri planned to move away from that voice, just as soon as he was finished with what he was doing, if at all possible. He knew he was at least decent at hiding by human standards.
Luna Rook |
Luna takes her time as she explores into area 6, careful of each step if nothing within the area would draw her attention she headed onward to the better lit area that the voices seemed to be coming from. She wasn't sure of their intentions but finding them beat waiting to be found.
mdt |
Harry probably has a canteen on his hip, hunting outfit, orange vest, jacket, and boots. The knife would have been in his hand, so not on him. Probably a wallet in his pocket. He might have some rifle rounds on his belt. No gun.
The artwork is superb, the lines incredibly fine, and the onyx inset perfectly flush with the carving. The onyx is slightly warmer than the stone around it.
As the scream echoes through the caverns, Harry is just reaching area 1. Just after the scream dies out, the 5 inch rods in the wall begin to make a grinding noise. Every other one recedes into the wall, leaving a every other one in place. Behind them can be seen more of the 5 inch bars. These are vertical, going from floor to ceiling.
The ruby is set flush into the carving. However, it seems to all but leap out of the setting when Neri tries to get a fingernail into the hair-thin crack. The ruby falls into his hand... and then continues to move through his flesh, burrowing into his hand.
Fire sears through Neri's nerves, and he lets out an involuntary scream as fire consumes his thoughts and nerves.
A scream of agony echoes through the chambers, slowly trailing off. It's followed by a rumbling grinding sound that also echoes through the caverns for several seconds.
'Kong' Groder |
Kong steps into area 4.
Zis light is some big crystal...I donno. Noting much here.
Kory's voice is losing some of its impact as he feels the depression taking root...
'Kong' Groder |
...hearing the shrieks gets Kong's blood pumping again...
WHAT IS IT?
...quickly moving any direction that seems like it might be closer...
Harry Hudson |
This just gets weirder and weirder. Well there seems to be people in here somewhere so I might as well keep looking. I don't really get what those rods are, so I'm not going to screw around. moving to 4
Luna Rook |
Luna mentally marks this carving,in area 6, as well wishing dearly she had half the supplies of the man in it but she shakes it off, if her life had taught her anything it was wishing was pointless.
The scream startles her and she is torn between running in fear or running to help, she seems stricken with fear at first but slowly regains control and continues to move forward into area 4.
'Kong' Groder |
Sterling "lumpy" Lumpkin |
Lumpy watches Kong run off into the dark and sighs heavily. I wouldn't be running towards the screaming, if I were you. It was too late he was gone. The banker thinks for a moment, and decides bringing people to one location is still the best idea. He can then build a map from their information. He cycles through the languages he knows saying If you can hear me, Follow my voice
English, Russian, Dutch, German, and Japanese
Luna Rook |
Luna spots the large man,Kong, but decides to play it safe still unsure if he is a victim or just part of the killings, she tries to follow him doing what she can to keep him in sight without being spotted herself. ( Can we roll against other pc's? If so stealth )
Hearing another voice calling out to be followed gives her equal parts hope and fear at least until she figures out what's going on.
Sterling "lumpy" Lumpkin |
At this point I'm as clueless as you. Lumpy introduces himself to Harry. Sterling Lumpkin He extends his hand in greeting.
OK so you came from that direction He crouches and clears a place on the ground. He starts to draw a map with areas 4 and 7. and He explains what's in 7. He straightens up and says can you fill in what you have seen so far?
'Kong' Groder |
...the sound is gone, and Kong realizes he has no way to pinpoint where it came from. Muttering curses in German, he turns back...at least there are voices of the living, that way.
Can anyone say...what ze HELL iss goink on?
Harry Hudson |
"Great. Yeah, Harry Hudson, nice ta meetcha. " and he shakes the proffered hand. "There's a couple other caves back there with some artwork and some retracing rods in the walls. Doesn't make much sense at all. Didn't see anything that looked like an exit. "
Sterling "lumpy" Lumpkin |
Retracting rods? Do you mean a machine? Did you trigger it somehow? Lumpy decides he must see it for himself. But first things first, He must get more information. He continues to call out for others to join them.
What areas did you visit Harry? Just so we know how complete the map will be
Jacob Friedrich Schönherr |
Looking about in marvel at the reliefs around him, Jacob began to have doubts about his dream hypothesis. This is a bit weird - even for me. He moved forward with Lina, gesturing to the left. "The voices are from that way," he states, speaking in a more subdued tone.
Perception (to notice Neri): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Linguistics (to determine Lina's accent): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
'Kong' Groder |
Kong walks in, relieved to see anybody...
Rods? What rods?
Harry Hudson |
"I guess it was machinery. Didn't look natural. There were some metallic rods moving in and out of holes in the wall a ways back there. "
He's been in 3 and 2
'Kong' Groder |
Sounds like...eh...some sort of pushrod, maybe...but...pushing what? We should maybe go dere?
Kong looks at Harry, anxious for any understanding he may have to offer.
Sterling "lumpy" Lumpkin |
Nothing is natural here it seems. Lumpy pauses and does some internal calculus. I am going to assume that we are living, and not in some afterlife. Based on that assumption, we have three driving factors: water, food, and shelter. In order to attain those three, we must ascertain our environment. Making a map seems the logical place to start. He continues to call out for others to join them.
'Kong' Groder |
Gott...I should be dead...what is zis place? Makes no zense.
Kory shakes his head and lets out a sigh.
Harry Hudson |
"Umm, I guess a map would help, but getting the hell out of here looks to be a priority to me. While I don't know where we are exactly, I do know caves are a pretty lousy place to try to find things to survive on. We've got to get out of here and secure some basics to live on. "
and looking over at the freaky dude "The rods are back that way sticking out of the walls. I don't really think they are part of an engine, but you are welcome to go look. " and he will indicate the direction in which they are.
'Kong' Groder |
We should maybe stay together. If there is a way out, I can find it...if we don't die first. You pick a wall...and follow it. Always follow it. It may be ze long way...but it...will...get zere.
Kory looks at the others...and shrugs.
Harry Hudson |
"Follow the wall? You're kidding right? How about we, you know, get past some ancient myths and instead trailblaze and mark the places we've been. I've got a couple of rifle rounds in here and the copper should mark the walls just fine. We get to a room, and if there are no exits mark the entrance so we know we've been there if we get turned around. Repeat until we've checked out each passage. " Amateurs
Luna Rook |
If Luna was able she listened in on the strangers and after a while decided, and hoped, they ment no harm to her. She approached the group looking for assistance.
"Hello? Do any of you know where we are?"
Luna was of small standings and nothing really stood out about her, her most notable feature being her short blonde hair. She seemed like someone you would walk past everyday and never notice.
