Waiting on: Radar Perception information for Pulse (if anything unusual is going on).
Mud, Aegis, Blaze.
"Mud" Adam Storn |
Thanks Pulse. Mud is always last, so I was waiting for the signal.
Is it obvious that Aegis is compromised?
What's the status of the cops? One is down, but not indicated on the map. Are they all still mind controlled?
mdt |
The two who are red are gunshot victms, and appear dead.
The one who's orange is the one who got knocked out.
Until Aegis makes her roll, she's mentally illusioned. She won't be obviously compromised until she does something out of character.
Hotaru Hoshiko |
On the topic of Mental Illusion: Will the Not-Pulse say exactly what Pulse says, if she says it? I.E. are they just copying exactly what we say but changing the voices?
If so, if one of us says something only that person would know, would it come out that way, leaving Aegis to only know that she's either been compromised or they're -really- getting into her head and plucking out secrety stuff?
Also, it seems odd that 'turn ally against their team' is lower on the difficulty for mental illusions than 'take ally out of the fight.' Why do you think that is?
mdt |
The problem with mental illusion is, it uses the person's mind to fill in the blanks. So she will hear/see what she expects to see/hear from her enemy. If you say a secret only Pulse could know, she'll hear it as a snide comment from a mentalist's croney, not as proof.
As to why it's easier, it's easier because you are not taking away free moral agency. Kill your allies is much harder than 'oh, that guy is your mortal enemy not your friend, do what you'd normally do'. That's why it's easier. In other words, Aegis is not under any compulsion to attack her enemies, she can choose to run away or do wahtever. But it needs to match her personality. She's as likely, with her allies having 'fled' to flee herself. Or she may decide that the 'bad guys' did something to her friends and go beat the answers out of them.
In other words, the mentalist doesn't control the target's actions like mind control does, so it's easier.
Hotaru Hoshiko |
No, what I more meant was for mental illusion specifically. It's Ego+30 to make them stop interacting with their environment, and Ego+10 or 20 to make them target their allies with their hostile actions. It doesn't seem like the former is better than the latter except in extreme niche cases (like mental illusioning someone whose only job is to set up (or defuse) a bomb).
mdt |
At Ego+20, they can make someone think that aliens have landed and are invasing, buildings exploding, people dying, and the brick goes around smashing alien invaders into goo (in actuality they are smashing school kids).
At Ego+30, the brick stands there and does nothing, 1/2 DCV, while your allies pound on them or kill them.
Hotaru Hoshiko |
Alrighty! So it's really just about choosing whether they're more useful as a wild card (most ourenemies will likely generally conclude yes), or not doing any harm (and being a pinata). Thanks!
Hotaru Hoshiko |
How useful have you found the chargen software to be for this game, Kitty? It certainly -feels- like it would remove a lot of the work, but I'm guessing there's still a lot of guesswork to consider that you have to adjust for.
Project Violet |
Yeah, Hero Designer is the bee's knockers. (They don't have knees, you see.)
Hotaru Hoshiko |
Blake and Yang do too have knees... And elbows. Four elbows.
Project Violet |
.... How did you manage to make that into a RWBY reference, Caboose?
Hotaru Hoshiko |
I'm both kinds of geek. :)
Also, Bee's knees automatically makes me think of Yang's voice actress.
"Mud" Adam Storn |
Calling Aegis and crew to Gameplay to roleplay, helloooooo
cheers!
Hotaru Hoshiko |
I'm still working in the turn order, because we can't really leave turn order without assuming any given amount of time is just allowed to happen, which means the bad guys could fully recover, etc. And I don't consider the fight -actually- over.
Does anyone else view the situation differently?
I think having a MC'd character (that has no real hope of escape short of GM kindness and Violet Intervention) without a lot of luck has caused some stumbling for a bit.
Hotaru Hoshiko |
Well, yeah, that's what I meant. I can't perform more actions until others have performed theirs. :)
So it's currently Blaze/Aegis + anyone else who wants to mindgab.
Barry "Blaze" Wind |
I apologize for my absence of late. I've been having some personal issues that made me more of a shut-in than I usually am.
"Mud" Adam Storn |
Would it be easy to put the turn order on the campaign info tab? I know that it's in the Excel sheet, but that's tougher for smartphones.
I find we wait a bit in this game not knowing who are we waiting for.
thanks
Hotaru Hoshiko |
So it's Phase 9 now? Because Pulse took a recovery on 6 and Violet KO'd guard #4 on phase 6.
Hotaru Hoshiko |
Blaze, actually :)
Hotaru Hoshiko |
Aegis is up next, though Kitty should probably arbitrate what additional rolls to make and at what bonus. :)
Hotaru Hoshiko |
Mud is up
Hotaru Hoshiko |
At work, so don't have easy access to book. Phasing is an obvious power visually, right?
Hotaru Hoshiko |
Was just asking if Mud's desolid was obvious to Aegis or not, as it may affect who she tries to punch. :)
Do two desolid targets interact as if both were solid?
mdt |
Yes, it's noticeable.
No, only very rarely if they have the same special effect (Like two mud creatures might affect each other normally, or two ghosts, or two speedsters using vibration).

Off topic, but if folks are interested:
My short story anthology went live on Amazon this morning, and is currently for sale for $1.99 (the lowest I could get it without it being free on the royalty program). It's 7 urban fantasy stories, inspired by my grandmother's love of getting lost on the back roads and highways of California.
If you're interested in it, that's great. If you're not, that's okay as well.
I haven't formally announced it on any of my social media or websites (or my "Sometimes I Write Stuff" thread), because I want to give it a week and hopefully get some reviews from early readers (at which point I'll make the paperback Print-on-Demand available).
It's called "Tales From The Highway," and if you read it and like it, tell your friends. If you don't like it, tell me. I can't fix it if I don't know it's broken. :)
Project Violet |
Also: Potential Updated violet Model?
Hotaru Hoshiko |
I like it pretty well. I imagine a slightly narrower jaw. Ill maybe pick up the book. Urban fantasy is my jam.
mdt |
I'm too busy on this project to read right now (thus my posting is a bit slack, it's helpful that you guys are basically 'self running' at this point in time with me just needing to bump the time forward). If I free up before December I'll pick it up, else it'll have to wait until December. Remind me.
As to the model, Violet seems to me to be a bit more pixie'ish in appearance (facially), that model seems a bit more rounded in the face.
Hotaru Hoshiko |
Yeah. My time is non-existent right now. New game (Destiny 2) alongside normal responsibilities, plus work having more than usual responsibilities. ..
I m also a slow reader, so don't expect a quick response. I've also been reading a lot less since I started driving. (I haven't binged anything since Skin Game.
As for the picture, yeah. More angular, less round was more what I was going for. Bone structure is only on my mind due to destiny 2.
Project Violet |
Well if you read it and you like it, that's great. If you read it and you don't, that's cool. Not great, but I understand. ;)
I actually just wrapped the main campaign on Destiny 2 on my Hunter, so now all three of my Classes are through the campaign. If you're on Xbox 1 and need a clan... :)
Hotaru Hoshiko |
We're on PC. I'm liking warlock decently well so far. My only significant complaint is that I wish as rmor exoics were more like diablo's uniques. Where picking one was game changing.
Project Violet |
You can still join my clan, regardless of platform, it seems, so you'd get the clan benefits right out of the gate (and your earning potential would be much larger due to the rest of the members).
It's funny you guys'd say that you see Violet's face as being more angular, seeing as I chose her original model because it had that "petite frame" roundness to her features. Hm.
Gotta think about it.
mdt |
I think it's personality driven. I just have this sort of mental image of a pixie like young girl with purple hair.
If you've ever seen Hackers (Angelina Jolie's early movie), or A Knight's Tale (Shannyn Sossamon), that's sort of the mental image I have for her, but with purple hair. Your original figure, at least to me, seemed to have a more angular face than the latest one.
Hotaru Hoshiko |
Then it would seem that the most important thing is 'what is your clan's name?' :P
Project Violet |
Then it would seem that the most important thing is 'what is your clan's name?' :P
That would be “Darth Comefy Jam”, it would.
Project Violet |
I'm so sorry. My phone didn't autocorrect.
"Darth Comedy Jam."
I AM SO SORRY.
Hotaru Hoshiko |
I don't really know how to join clans or the like. I'm Hotarukin#1382 on Battlenet. :)
