Doesn't matter, they only had 5 HP left, so the splash kills them even if they make their saves. Note Lineera was not hit directly, so save for half splash damage

The butterflies, what is left of them, disperse.

Since I need to heal people up, I was doing some math to see who was at what HP. I think I did the CON damage math right for how it effects HP. Also, Lineera appears to be down after the last butterfly attack and before my bomb. I didn't realize this till I was doing the math now to make sure I knew who was at what. Can people please double check me and my math?

Eva: 28/35 (7 Damage)
Kjel: 12/28 (36 Normally) (14 damage, -8 Hp from con loss, -3 CON for 11 CON)

If she's at 33 from 26, that should be -6. Not -9. At most she would have bled for 1 turn, so -7. Assuming she took full damage from the bomb. If she took half, she'd be down by -5. Either way, she awakens.

Lineera struggles to her feet as Eva forces the potion down her throat. "Ugh, that was a wretched experience." The fact that Lineera has little else to say on the matter, frankly seems somewhat out of character for her, but perhaps near death experiences are just becoming too routine. Alexis finds a masterwork dagger with the same symbol as the armor that was at the keep on it, a finely crafted pocket watch, and a finely crafted compass. The leather armor and clothes have been rotted by the butterflies.

The watch is engraved : To R.L, from R.L. Remember your Valor, Guard your Back.

The group continues on, and has no further encounters in the swamp, at least nothing life threatening.

Those of you with poison, make sure to make any further saves, if you need to.

Another 5 days on foot has the party reaching Thrushmoor (again for some). The city is as dank and dower as it was the first time, but compared to Illmarsh it's practically giddy.

Checking into it, the party can book passage on a ship going up river tomorrow, it will leave at noon, and take 2.5 days to reach Rozenport. To hoof it up to Rozenport is a 3.5 day trip usually, so it's about the same amount of time, but the boat would leave you a free day in Thrushmoor. Passage would be 10 gold apiece.

I'm assuming you all want to buy/sell/shop while you're in Thrushmoor? It's the biggest city around for miles.

Those who want to do shopping do so. Kjel gets his new shield, which is all shiny with that new shield smell (granted, that comes from the alchemist down the street, as the scrapes and permanent dents here and there indicate it's seen use before). Eva gets supplies for crafting on the boat ride.

The boat ride is uneventful, and the boat lets everyone off in Rozenport. Everyone subtract 10 gold each

From there it's a quick 4 day trip to Perdition's Point, again uneventful.

Upon arriving, the village looks like it nearly doubled in size. The Church folk have a small tent city set up. The buildings are all being rebuilt heavily, both houses and common meeting room.

Alexis is shocked, both at how big the village is now (granted, a lot of that is temporary tents), and how much damage obviously occurred. Nothing like this happened in her world. Perhaps most painful is seeing a boy from the village running around with an eyepatch, a boy she babysat many times.

Then people begin to notice Alexis, and many make symbols of warding toward her. One woman looks at Lineera. "HOW COULD YOU! Is it not enough her daughter watched her die? You had to bring her back as an undead?"

Angry mutters begin to circulate through the town, and Lineera is getting a mixture of looks ranging from angry to shocked and betrayed as the rumor quickly spreads.

Alexis gets angry with the folks for thinking that about the poor drow, but it could not be helped. She had some weird thoughts herself when first seeing these guys behind the gate. It just needed to be cut short, to avoid dire consequences. She waves a hand, making the symbols shine with red energy, to scare them a bit more than her regular demeanor already could.

The crowd recoil from the magic, proof that something fell has befallen the corpse of their beloved fellow villager. They fall back, shaken, several putting hands on their weapons, but none actually attacking.

Then the air is rent by a scream.

The scream erupts to the east, where the church has been rebuilt. A young girl stands there, eyes tightly shut, screaming at the top of her lungs. No words, just an ululating scream. Her fists are tightly clenched at her sides, and she faces the crowd.

Lia Carevin seems to have taken the sight of her mother alive not well.

A man in full plate comes out of the church, along with a woman wearing long robes. He removes a gauntlet and places a hand on the girl, and his lips move.

Lia drops, boneless, into the woman's arms, her scream cutting off instantly. The woman gathers her up and takes her back into the church.

The man in full plate walks over, pulling his gauntlet back on. As he does, he waves a hand at Alexis.

It's quite obvious he is detecting Evil

The elf is tall, over 6 and a half feet tall. Unlike most elves, he's not slim either, he looks more like Kjel does, his torso encased in heavy steel that is just as large as the northlander's. "Indeed, as is the woman whose countenance you wear. I know, I had her remains dug up so I could consecrate them to ensure she didn't raise up again. All twenty seven pieces of her. The husband was slightly luckier, the creatures only tore him into three pieces. The girl witnessed everything, as the creatures seemed to delight in making her watch. They were hacking at the walls of the house to force it to collapse so they could get her out of the rafters when the villagers finally killed them." He places a gauntleted hand on his bastard sword's hilt. "I recognize your face as Alexis Carevin. I now require an explanation, and further examination, before I allow you free access to this village."

He nods at Eva, Riley, Lineera, and Mahb. "Ladies, Sir. Well met again, I hope. I see you've brought a walking ghost to us." He eyes Kjel for a second, taking his measure coolly. "And it appears you've found a new ally. Your former allies sent word to tell you they are safe and sound, in Magnamar, trying to track down whatever is left of the Raven Company, to see who originally hired them to go after the people you are going after. They appear to have been exterminated to a man."

Home, even if it was still in the midst of repairs, was a wonderful place to be. But then, the mutterings started. The smile left Eva's face at the accusations of Lineera. "Does it not matter? That all Lineera has done since she came here is try to help us? Apparently not. Does she not deserve the benefit of the doubt? You see something you suspect without knowing is necromancy and accuse someone who has only tried to help you." Eva was not going to let them just throw Lineera out to dry.

Eva felt some sort of relief when Kalvant approached them. Perhaps with his assistance, things could be sorted out before they decided to burn Lineera for her supposed "crimes". "It is good to see you again. The village looks to be coming along nicely." Eva turned to Alexis and Kjel. "This is Kalavant, a Paladin of Iomedae. He came in to Perdition's Point after we sent letters requesting aid after the attack." Eva turned back to Kalavant, "This is not our Alexis, but one from a different existence. She passed through a portal of some sort. We were in the middle of fighting a Plant-woman-thing and her pet when it happened."

Mahb glowers as the challenges fly back and forth. With an irritated hrumph, she hobbles over to the fence, rubs her gnarled old walking stick affectionately, then HAMMERS the fence with it, shrieking like a banshee. She smashes the stick against the fence over and over again until bits of shattered wood fly. When the stick is reduced to splinters, she discards the broken stump and surveys the assembled throng of villagers and visitors.

She takes a few deep breaths to compensate for her manic exertion, then speaks aridly. "Stop with the childish nonsense, you jackanapes. We've real problems to solve outside the village." The hag brushes at her dirty skirt and perches on the fence, much like the bedraggled raven next to her. "There's no love lost 'twixt me and Kalvant there... but he is on the right side of this thing. With luck, he'll be able to shed light on some of these strange matters we've experienced."

Ok, it appears we've lost Lineera and Riley. *sigh* Ok, we'll go forward with them NPC'd for now.

Kalvant chuckles. "Stop glaring at me old woman, I'm not the one who overreacted. You shouldn't blame people though, things have been bad here lately." He sighs, and waves a gauntlet toward the old grave yard. "The day we arrived, more corpses had risen. We had to put them down. One of the first things we had to do was reconsecrate the graveyard."

He turns toward the populace at large. "Now now, you all have managed to get scolded by Mahb, now go on home. This obviously is not Alexis Carevin. I suspect it is her long lost sister, we'll straighten it out."

The townsfolk look rather sheepish, and there are mutterings of sorry toward Lineera, and red faces. Turning to the group again, he waves them toward the tent city. "If you'd be so kind as to come with me then."

He leads them to the large pavillion tent that has been set up as a central meeting area, and then takes a seat at a large oval table. "Now then, I suspect you've had interesting times. Please tell me what has transpired, and how you acquired Alexis's 'sister'? Alexis was not from Perdition's Point originally, if I understand correctly? I believe that a more acceptable tale for the general population would be an estranged twin sister. I'll need you to submit to a full examination by my expert on planar creatures before I can allow you full access to the town, Ms. Carevin, I'm afraid. I'm not going to take a chance with the town's safety at this point."

Having gotten the important things out of the way, he waves at a junior cleric. "Brother Barton, please get us some lemonade, and some of those little sandwhiches that you make that taste so good. Thank you." The junior cleric bows and leaves the tent. "Now then, for those who I haven't met before, official introductions. I am...."

"Lord Sir Kalvant Malranva 'tel Mintakia, Lord High Paladin of Iomodae, Senior Servitor of Iomodae, High Priest of Iomeodae in Ulastev, Order of the Phoenix, Champion of Ulastev, and a dozen other titles I could bore you with. I only interject because he tends to introduce himself as a simple Knight of the Church, and then confusion can occur later." A woman interjects as she enters. The robed woman was the one who caught the girl and took her back into the church earlier. "And I am High Priestess Sivalla Reville, of the Church of Pharasmae, I'm not quite as high ranked within my church as Lord Sir Kalvant, but you may be assured I am of sufficiently high rank to speak for all clergy of Pharasmae, including young Lineera there." She nods at Lineera, giving her a small smile.

She takes a seat at the table. "The girl is resting again. I wish I knew how you do that Kalvant."

Male Elvavian Enlightened Ki Mystic Monk (12)

Kalvant makes a dismissive wave. "It is only a small trick of the mind I learned from an old woman in Magnemar when I was young, and more enamored of wealth than spirit." He turns back to the group. "And now, introductions and stories please?"

Alexis doesn't quite like the man, but she cannot help but to see that things are not quite bad with him here. It could be worst, so she tries to explain it.
"I'm Alexis Carevin. Let me tell you my history. My life was pretty fine when someone kidnapped Luke, my son, and after 30 days another kid. We assembled a party to look after them, composed of me, Luther, Valeria, William, Trusk and, believe me or not, a Lynx. We've disrupted a dark cult activities throughout the land and when we were at that tower in the middle of the swamp something else happened, and I got duplicated. Yes, that's the proper word. There was another me behind the portal, but I was also here. Something is wrong, tough, as I was never left-handed, and all my scars are in the wrong side."

The priestess raises an eyebrow. "That was almost certainly a world gate, and an improperly completed one. From what you say, if it's true, the ritual you interrupted on your world was completed on ours. Disrupting it caused it to link to a similar place on another plane, and the strongest location to link to would have been a place where the ritual had been completed successfully." She purses her lips and looks off into space. "An improperly completed gate could act as a mirror, reflecting the world beyond into this one, and would result in what you speak of. Your heart would be on the right side, rather than the left side. Your scars would reverse, tattoo's, if any, would read backwards or be displayed backwards..."

She turns her look to Alexis. "Oddly enough, this should have worked as well on your personality. One who was evil becomes good, one who is orderly becomes chaotic. It's actually the basis for many of the mirror clone spells that are so popular in stories." She pulls out a pair of glasses from her pocket and slides them on. The lenses are blue tinted, and tiny gems dot the frames.

Kn(Arcana) DC 20:

They appear to be Glasses of Arcane Sight, but with some additional enchantments on them, judging by the additional gems, as each one gives off a slight glow when the glasses are put on

"Tell me, were you evil yet orderly prior to arriving here?"

She shakes her head, denying it. "Orderly was never a word to define me, specially after they kidnapped Luke, and I've never causes anyone undue harm. So, there's something wrong with your theory, but congratulations for trying. Also, I'm pretty much different from your Alexis, since I have arcane powers and would never let those evildoers escape without punishment. If I was not the way I am, spirited and impulsive, I would not be here right now."

"Would anyone show them the freaking bird so we change the focus here? Where's the VA-LUA-BLE?"

"Well, there does appear to be some alterations to personality, as Alexis, as described to us, was a sweet person. I do not believe anyone described her as a horses ass." The woman says matter of factly, eliciting a snort from the Paladin. "The chances of an accidental mirror portal are literally millions to one. It is the same chances of flipping a coin and it landing on it's edge." She steeples her fingers, and looks off over Alexis's head, as if imagining formulae in her head. "The chances of an accidental mirror portal, which behaved like a mirror portal, except it only reversed physical properties, and not mystical, soul, and mental properties would approximately the chance of that coin landing on it's edge... while in the middle of an earthquake, while in a farm house that was whirling around inside a typhoon."

Kalvant grunts in response. "I don't like coincidences, and I don't believe in them. A coin landing on it's edge is suspicious in the extreme, but possible. To do so during the extra events you describe... I would put that down to divine or infernal intervent..." He trails off, his eyes narrowing. "Of course..."

"Indeed..."

"Of course what, morons?!" She was not sweet at the beginning of this conversation, but calling the other Alexis sweet, and not her, darkened her mood even more. "You think I'm not sweet enough for you? Well, try to have your child kidnapped by an evil cult and be put into an endless coma, so you would need to search the world after the one who did, and find only wickedness and decay on your path. Then, when you come home, you find two outsiders who think they have authority and are better than you, talking in short and enigmatic sentences meaning there's something wrong with you. Then we would see if you would be sweet, sugar!"

Mahb's sharp eye slides between Kalvant and Sivalla, following the discussion with interest and a trace of amusement. "That explains some things."

Mahb growls, "You're out of your head, girl. You walk into this town, arrogantly insult the memory of the well-loved woman whose face you wear - saying she was torn to pieces because she was 'weak and powerless' - and now you want sympathy for your difficulties? Don't expect from others what you can't readily offer to others."

Mahb's look is humorless. "That's some irony - when a girl from another world claims folks from another town are the 'outsiders'... But let's get down to brass tacks. They do have authority here in the only three ways that matter." She counts off her points on her bony fingers as she names them. "First, their churches have sent them in to cleanse the town, if religious and civil authority means aught to you. Second, the people of this village have accepted their authority. Third, having seen some of their skills I'm fairly certain they have the power to impose their will - by 'the sword' or spell - without much difficulty. If you want to test that assumption, be my guest. I'll watch the spectacle with interest."

She wiggles her three fingers to emphasize her points and then drops her withered hand. "Frankly, I'm barely a part of this village and don't bow to authority of any sort - not governments, not Gods, and not a sword's point. But, as I said before, these folks are on the right side of this fight, so working with them is a devil's bargain I can live with." The hag chuckles at her own joke before concluding, "So, you have a choice to make."
